Transfer Pricing Is An Internal Practice
Transfer pricing is an internal practice within an MNE and thus it is insulated against the open market
forces of demand and supply. In competitive open markets, the forces of demand and supply would
interact to determine the price at which goods and services are transferred. While these forces could
have an impact on transfer pricing from a macro perspective, their impact on intra group pricing can
be limited.
Larry J. Merville and J. William Perry (1978) identified the various items that affect the setting of
transfer prices to include methods and rates of income taxation, quotas and duties on importation of
materials, restrictions on flow of capital, currency regulations and the preferences of management of
an MNE for risk avoidance through consideration of the risks associated with the fluctuation of
foreign currency exchange rates, rates of inflation and the risk of nationalisation. Managerial reward
and control is another item that is considered and often plays a significant role in transfer pricing
(Merville and Petty, 1978). Some of these items often lead to conflicting goals and objectives that an
MNE has to deal with. This section analyses the issue of transfer pricing in light of these
considerations. Theoretical framework / conceptual framework Optimal intra firm pricing
Hirshleifer (1956) poses that in order to obtain optimal intra firm pricing; the transfer price must be
equal to the marginal cost of the affiliates producing goods in conditions of

No Good And Nobody Is All Evil
Nobody is all good and nobody is all evil. Throughout all history, whether it be in the United States or
somewhere else in the world, there has always been people who are infamous for unspeakable crimes
or for their tremendous acts of bravery. There has always been people who have seemed to be the
literal definition of good and evil and have always been made out like they were exactly that:
completely good or completely evil. It s easy to label a person like that, to ignore any of their other
actions that may contradict what the world knows them as, but that s the thing about labels; nobody
can truly fit completely under them. Even someone like Adolf Hitler was once upon a time an okay
person before he was completely driven by fear and bitterness to the point he actually attempted to
wipe out an entire group of people. The question is, if a person s actions were courageous or wicked
enough, should they only be defined by those actions? Someone like Nathan Bedford Forrest, who
was a racist his whole life, someone who was involved in the trading of slaves and even joined the Ku
Klux Klan after the war because he was so bitter about the defeat of the Confederacy; should he be
defined by only these hateful actions? The answer depends: because while no one is completely good
or completely evil like Adolf Hitler, Forrest believed that one group of people was superior to another;
and instead of silently hating, Forrest decided to take action and help fight for a cause that went

Reflection On Pre-Service Reflection
5. Reflect upon your answer from #1 in the pre service reflection regarding your fears, concerns,
expectations and perceived challenges that you wrote about. How were your initial thoughts
confirmed or denied? Address any biases or stereotypes that you discovered that you had. Working
with the students at the Be a Leader Foundation this semester, I realized that many while many of my
fears were correct, I discovered a bias I did not even know I had. Going into the Be a Leader
Foundation, I was afraid that I would not able to relate to the student because they are going through
more difficult situations in their lives. One example of this was a young 7th grader that I worked with.
She had big dreams of becoming a chef, but because none ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This work is very beneficial to the students, I teach how to improve their music and marching
technique skills, while also helping raise money for their future endeavors. I also continually work
with Feed My Starving Children, an organization whose mission is to provide children in need with
high quality, filling meals. I go to the center often, to pack meals that get sent to various countries
around the world. I thoroughly enjoy this work, it makes me feel like I am making a difference to kids
who do not always have access to sustainable meals. Volunteering at these two organizations makes
me feel like I am becoming more civically engaged in my community.
B. What can you do to be a civically engaged educator or teacher? As a teacher, I will be more
civically engaged by not only continue my involvement in the community, but also by teaching my
students to become more involved through service learning lessons. Service learning can be an
important tool as an educator because the students can learn the academic content while also
participating in a service project of their own. Service learning also helps strengthen the student s
knowledge of their assignment because they can apply their knowledge to real life situations. With
service learning activities, students will also discuss people in need, and what they can do as student.
They learn to think creatively and come up with new solutions to

Three Main Ideas Of Martin Luther
Homework One*This assignment was late because I had trouble finding the Homework folder on
Blackboardand the time said 9:25pm so I thought I had all of Tuesday. I also work part time during the
dayand overnights when I m not in class. That s not an excuse, but a late assignment will not
happenagain. Thank you!*I. The three main ideas of Martin Luther were that Salvation couldn t be
bought, that theteachings of the Church should just be from the Bible and the Pope/Priests were false
authorities, and all people of Faith were equal and didn t need a middleman like a Pope or a Priest
tointerpret the Bible. Everyone should know how to interpret the Bible for themselves. Salvation
couldn t be bought. It basically means that people if you committed asin, you d had to be truly sorry,
confess your sins to a priest in which he wouldgive a punishment depending on the severity of the
crime committed. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Luther didn t believe inthis idea and tried to argue it, noting that people who ended up buying their
sinsended up not feeling truly sorry for the sins they ve committed. Going to Heavenisn t something
that could be bought or earned, it s freely given. The teachings of the Church should just be from the
Bible because the Pope/Priestwere false authorities. Luther explained this as, anyone who needed to
knowanything about religion, could learn it specifically from the Bible. Gods word, hisvirtue and his
wisdom is more important than what anyone else could say. There is no need for a middleman, like a
Priest or Pope, to interpret what theBible says. Martin Luther didn t want people to look to outside
sources becausehe didn t want people to be swayed into believing one thing. He called it the

The Success Of The Great Recession
The Great Recession began in December 2007 and officially ended in June 2009 while many
macroeconomic forces were at fault, the primary cause was securitizations of debt. While debt is an
important part of any economy, allowing for the financing of business activities, the purchase of
homes, and continuing education, there is also an inherent risk in the system. Most debt is issued in
with fixed rate interest, though during the 1970 s a new instrument was introduced to both consumers
and businesses, which was variable rate loans. This instrument, allowed for introductory rates for a
short time frame, then becomes a variable rate, which is normally 200 basis points above the going
rate for standard fixed loans. Though a relatively new instrument, it allowed for the most recent
recession to become one of the largest losses of capital in recent history, as millions of homeowners
were allowed to purchase homes, which they could not afford. This was only the first mechanism,
which allowed the market to collapse. Many parallel events to this recession have happened
throughout recorded history. The first among them in the United States was the great panic of 1837,
which had similar underpinnings as the most recent crisis.
The Great Panic of 1837

of land and the creation of wealth, mankind has always tried to value and gain or time what has

Mississippi Vs Secession
In my initial post, I also discussed the economic factor for the Southern States seceding from the
Union; however, the Mississippi Declaration of Secession says two main factors for the state decision
of seceding from the Union than the economic factor. Historians do not use a small piece of evidence
to decide what happened, they gather facts to reconstruct the events that have to transpire, and the
same should be done when analyzing a primary document. On the Mississippi Declaration of
Secession also states, It has given indubitable evidence of its design to ruin our agriculture, to
prostrate our industrial pursuits and to destroy our social system. It knows no relenting or hesitation in
its purposes; it stops not in its march of aggression

Determining the Relationship between Postnatal Depression...
CHAPTER 4
4.1 Search Strategy
The main purpose of the study was to determine the relationship between postnatal depression and
peer support by way of reviewing primary research articles. The search strategy adopted for this study
can be broken down into several steps. The key concepts and terminologies for the study were
identified. The synonyms of the terms were then determined which were also included within the
search terms. Boolean operators were the chosen search features. Databases from which the literature
search would be conducted were chosen. Using Boolean operators, different search expression were
created and the search conducted. The results were evaluated and the inclusion exclusion criteria
applied to get the articles that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

According to Kumar (2013), Boolean operators can be used to restrict and widen the search results in
a systematic way. As such, different key terms as identified by the PICO framework were combined
with different Boolean operators and the results obtained evaluated using the Inclusion exclusion
criteria for their suitability as study articles. Some of the expressions there were generated from the
combination of Boolean operators and the search terminology include postnatal depression OR

History Of The Bubonic Plague
When a matter such as the Bubonic Plague strikes in a world unexposed to the current technology and
information citizens tend to create false cures and treatments. These treatments are highly dangerous
and unhygienic. A common treatment used was bloodletting, which was the act of extracting blood
from a patient to remove the disease. Similar to bloodletting was boil lancing which is when you take
a knife to slice the buboes until they bursted. Buboes were a symptom of the Bubonic Plague
described as a swollen inflamed lymph node. Others however believed in superstitious practices, for
example burning aromatic herbs and bathing in rose water or vinegar. Some more eccentric treatments
included witchcraft and potion making which many were persecuted for practicing. Now it is known
that the treatments above were inefficient in curing and or preventing the bubonic plague. Then we
have the anti seminists who believed that Jews were the ones to blame for the spreading of the disease.
This was the only way they believed they could gain God s forgiveness and used religion as the
answer to the unknown. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The side effects were very similar to the common everyday flu consisting of fever, chills, vomiting,
diarrhea, and dire aches and pains. The differentiating factor between the two was the Buboes that we
mentioned earlier, also known as plague boils, that appear on the skin under the armpits or on the
groin. The Buboes could reach up to the size of an egg, or even an apple. The most surprising act of
the Bubonic Plague was how quickly this disease took the life of the affected individual. Even the the
most healthy, could contract the massive epidemic at any give

Essay about Incest
Incest
Incest is one of the most interesting taboos of our time. The definition of incest is a highly
controversial topic. Yet, the definition of incest is one of the most important definitions for the people
involved, though the law s and psychologists meanings are not much the same. Incest needs to be
similarly defined for the incestuous parties, both by the law and by psychologists. The definition of
incest should be determined by the cases of incest. The people who commit incest, and the types of
incest should be considered when making this definition for the law. Why incest occurs has a great
deal to do with the people and the types of incest. With the definition dissimilar between the law and
psychologists, it is very difficult ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Armstrong, pg 235) If the daughter is seductive, then she might gain power over her father. This is
not always true for mother son incest. Mother son incest is usually brought on as a way to highly
express love, Asex education quot;, or the mother is promiscuous. If the mother feels like she is
expressing her love to her son, then she uses sex as a means of closeness. (Justice, pg 102) There is
either no husband or a passive husband. The mother can be very seductive and encourage the son to
have sex with her and limits the son s social life. She acts on a Adon t leave me quot; attitude to keep
her son tied down. Sometimes the son gets aroused my his mother and then becomes the aggressor.
(Justice, pg 103) If he isn t attracted to mom, why not be attracted to his sister? This is the case in
brother sister, or sibling incest. It is less traumatic and the guy acts kind of proud about it. The
brothers can become violent and force their sister to join in, although usually the sister is willing to
participate. (Justice, pg 105) When both of the children are shy, the girl sees him as the only boyfriend
she will ever have and becomes flirtatious. The two could also have mutual admiration, and then
become sexually attracted to each other. This leads into the most rarely reported incest of the four.
Father son incest is rarely reported because

Poverty In John Steinbeck s As American As Apple Pie
Poverty has now become As American As Apple Pie , a situation we choose to ignore, and along with
it the millions of families who suffer from it. Many have this tendency to believe that they are safe
from falling into poverty; unaware of the multiple situations that can cause one to fall into poverty. It
makes one wonder what s keeping them from tipping over, eventually leading to the question, what
makes poverty so common, and why is it still around?
Following the recession and lost of millions of manufacturing jobs, many American families fell
within the poverty line. As Rank describes in his article many turned to the safety net known as
government aid during such times. Such assistance was to provide families in need with money and
services needed to survive needed to survive before they could get back on their feet. Downside was,
these programs only helped these families ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The welfare program for instance is a perfect example. Welfare was a government program which
provided support for those unable to support themselves. However, as explained and examined by
Blank the program was deeply flawed and not very useful. Blank made it clear that single household
families specifically those led by single mothers, are the ones in dire need of welfare yet more than
69% of them remain unaided and out of work. Known as disadvantaged mothers these women who
meet all these requirements for the program, no longer qualify. Reasons behind it include their
inability to find a job within sixty months, while attending all required welfare programs and caring
for their children. It s very difficult for these women to find a job and keeping one was even greater
challenge. Finding childcare was very difficult, along with having to take days off in case the child
gets sick; both of which result in missing days of work, which can lead to one losing their job. Having
to constantly care for young children, and the home, while working as a single mother is not

A Research On Environmental Management And Conservation
The following annotated bibliography covers a breath of topics under the major topic theme
Environmental Management and Conservation. It was created as a starting point for building my
knowledge of GIS tools used in environmental management and conservation for my concept map.
The authors present an exploratory study using purposive testing among four different groups
(scientist, non scientist, agency manager and social scientist) included in the Coastal Landscape
Analysis Modelling Study (CLAMS) in Western Oregon. CLAMS combines remote sensing with web
base surveys. It was found that each participant had differing perspectives of the use of GIS to analyse
and display natural resource data. For instances scientist believe that there is power in access to
privileged knowledge such as data and GIS tools, giving rise to issues concerning credibility of maps
produced using GIS as maps tend to be viewed as truth. I find this article beneficial to help build my
knowledge of public involvement in Environmental Management and Conservation as many articles I
have read are trending towards open source GIS and Public Participation GIS. It is also useful to get a
grasp of the pros and cons of this topic. In an attempt to reduce the issues surrounding the limitations
of information and data for decision makers. The authors sort to make an open source database for
coastal and ocean ecosystem based management. To achieve this geographical, biological and socio
economic data was collected

Under Western Eyes Sparknotes
Feminist Foundations
As the feminist movement has progressed through several generations it has shifted quite a bit in its
general approach and theory. Contemporary writers such as Baumgardner and Richards, and Henry
have illustrated a generational shift away from structurally aimed actions, and towards individual acts
of subversion and small political actions (Baumgardner and Richards 126 202). This current course is
very similar to the direction of other highly organic movements such as sustained dialogue. Feminism
though, is particularly well documented, justified, and understood. Thus by comparing the feminist
movement s present tack to that of sustained dialogue, it will be possible to gain insight into the
direction ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I would like to expand this and say that the dominant culture s constant barrage of feedback may
obscure mocking or satirical actions for the actual individuals performing them. It is quite possible
that enactors of contextual actions will be applauded by the dominant culture which misses the
subtlety, and that this may lead to an obfuscation of their message or even to a corruption of their own
beliefs as the appeal of acceptance becomes increasingly prevalent.
Contextual actions are directed at subversion based on an individual s defined sense of identity, but
these actions may become greatly skewed as the context is removed or modified. In her essay Under
Western Eyes: Feminist Scholarship and Colonial Discourses. , Chandra Talpade Mohanty
demonstrates how we misunderstand oppression within other cultures because we do not understand
the specific context of women in that culture (Mohanty 335, 337, 340). We can use this to draw a
parallel to our contextual actions, in that individuals outside of the context may miss the significance
of an action. This occurs not only for individuals in different situations within the same dominant
culture, but more severely for individuals of different cultures. The problem here is that because
individuals do not understand a particular action as being subversive the result is that the deed
normalizes a certain behavior as being what is

My College Life
College life is hard to adjust to no matter how many motivational speeches you get in life. I knew
college wasn t going to be like high school, but it s one thing to say and another to see. I closed one

College put emphasis on independents which is something I battle with.
Before starting LaGuardia, I was already petrified. All of my friends had already started college and
were already taking exams. It felt wrong that I hadn t started already. Having to take 2 hours of my

Explanation Of Solubility Research
What is solubility? Solubility is a chemical property referring to the ability for a given substance, the
solute, to dissolve in a solvent. (Science Daily, 2014) Solubility occurs around people throughout their
everyday life, and is exemplified through their food and drinks, and even the air that surrounds them.
Solubility is a complex idea that can be understood in a simpler form, i.e., having hot coffee and
adding sugar to it. It appears that the hot coffee melts the salt, but deeper beyond the surface the hot
coffee molecules break apart the sugar molecules; the molecules are broken down, because of the
increase in temperature that causes the molecules to collide harder. The collision is caused by the
faster, vibrating molecules in the solution.
The solute (salt) is the substance that dissolves in the solvent (water) and it depends on a few things:
temperature, volume, type of solvent and concentration. The solubility of most salts can be found on a
solubility curve and it expresses the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

attainable efficiencies of heat engines (R Nave). In other words, in all energy exchanges if no energy
enters or leaves the system, the potential energy of the state will always be less than that of the initial
state. (Farabee, 2010) The second law is commonly known as the law of increased entropy, a measure
of unusable energy within a closed or isolated system and it is a system of chaos. (All about science,
2002) The kinetic energy of the solution increases with the temperature and it allows the particles to
slide between each other; It can be understood by imagining a vibrating molecule engulfing a regular
molecule and breaking it

911 Dispatching Research Paper
Emergency telecommunications otherwise known as 911 dispatching is a fast paced and exciting work
environment. During a twelve hour shift, the dispatchers never know what is going to occur, nor do
they know when it is going to occur. Hours of boredom can be followed by minutes of sheer panic and
terror. They deal with everything from domestic violence to medical calls, traffic stops to house fires.
A 911 dispatcher doubles as a communications liaison for police officers, deputies, medical personnel,
and fire fighters. Emergency telecommunications often known as dispatching can be broken down into
four major categories: law enforcement, fire, emergency medical, and call taking/administrative. Law
enforcement: Like the law enforcement officer ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Whereas law enforcement initially functions as individuals, fire dispatching normally involves one or
more units of personnel. The types of fire calls are as unpredictable as law enforcement. There are
many different types of fire calls, something as simple as smelling smoke, to a fully involved structure
with occupants inside. It is the dispatchers responsibility to glean detains that will allow fire fighters to
respond with the appropriate personnel and apparatus. When seconds count, it is critical that
dispatchers obtain complete and accurate information. On occasion there is a nexus between
firefighting and law enforcement such as an arson fire. Again it is critical that the dispatcher obtain
complete and accurate information. It may be necessary to coordinate a law enforcement response
simultaneously with a fire response. An example would be the arson fire of the Muslim mosque in
Joplin in 2012. This was a total loss structure fire that was deliberately set. Ultimately information
obtained by dispatchers and conveyed to line police officers resulted in a conviction of an arsonist and
the ability of the mosque to get financial recovery and

Example Of Confirmation Bias
Confirmation Bias The confirmation bias is about us giving priority or being biased towards
information that affirms preceding and existing beliefs or experiences. Suppose that a person believes
that people who are left handed are more creative compared to right handed people. On any occasion
the person with this belief meets a person that is creative and also left handed they regard this
evidence quite important as it confirms their existing belief. They also might find proof further to back
up the belief and will disregard other examples which do not support the fundamental belief. While
confirmation biases have an influence on people collecting information they also have an impact how
information is being interpreted and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Necessarily, we have the tendency to believe that are successfulness are mainly because of our inner
characteristics and abilities. Although the failures experienced are a cause of the variables which
cannot be manipulated. In terms of how the Self Serving Bias operates in our day to day life, if you
get an A+ in an exam this bias will steer a belief within you which is that you prepared well for the
exam. At the same time by any chance if you failed the exam again it will make you believe that the
teacher did not do justice to this subject by teaching properly, the heat in the classroom was terrible or
you were disturbed by someone the night prior to the exam. This bias occurs mainly for people to keep
their self esteem in place. By the attribution of positive situations to personal traits, the confidence in
one is boosted. Also by casting the blame to the external sources people secure their self esteem as
well as deliver themselves from the individual control they may have over a situation. There are also
many factors that influence the Self Serving Bias such as age, gender, culture, one s mental state and

Irony In The Interlopers
Throughout the short story The Interlopers , author Saki demonstrates a powerful lesson through the
mistakes of the two main characters, Ulrich von Gradwitz and Georg Znaeym. These two men are
divided by a property disagreement and lust for the other to give up the fight, yet neither are in the
slightest willing to part with the land they claim as theirs. If either of the men would have forgiven the
other, they would have been united as friends and allies. But each is fixed on his own material gain,
and is blinded to his fatal flaw. As a result of their feud, both men meet an untimely end. In the end,
friends that can be trusted make a man stronger than property he can use. This is proved by the
worthlessness of land and the strength

Octopuses Research Paper
Octopuses are better at camouflage than any other animals. They can change their shape and color to
look like other creatures.
The best of these morphing creatures is the mimic octopus. It adopts the colors of a poisonous sea
snake and changes its body into a thin ribbon to scare predators away.
People have seen mimic octopuses look like lion fish, sea stars and other animals. When hungry, the
octopus takes the form of a crab. Crabs fooled by the display end up eaten.
Scientists and engineers are impressed by the octopuses. A team of Cornell University scientists
copied the mimic using sheets of rubber and mesh. The scientists got help from octopus expert Roger
Hanlon.

The papillae are what help an octopus use camouflage. The papillae go limp when an octopus wants to
decrease the drag of water against skin, allowing it to speed away. Then fleshy nubs can appear, and
the skin bulges. Octopuses can match the look of seaweed so closely that they become almost
invisible.
Itai Cohen, a writer of the new study, said he was amazed by videos of the shape changers. Such a
scene was filmed by Hanlon and posted online.
People can stare at an underwater scene and have no idea an octopus is there, Cohen said. Then it
changes color and shape. It appears out of nowhere, he said.
Cohen was impressed. That is just awesome, he thought. How the heck do we do that?
He and fellow Cornell scientist Robert Shepherd gave James Pikul the work of figuring it out. Pikul

Scientists and engineers have been trying to control the shape of soft, stretchable materials, said Pikul.
However, cheaply making these materials has been difficult.

The Adverse Effects of TV Essay examples
Years ago, society was full of hard working, fit, energetic people who diligently worked to improve
civilization. But then, society became infected by television. The virus slowly spread from person to
person and began to take over the lives of everyone it encountered. Over the course of eight decades,
the virus came to dictate every day activities and transformed a spirited species into languid losers.
Television has ultimately turned society into a vegetable garden that is controlled by technological
innovations that manipulate the order of our everyday lives. Those who recognize the harm caused by
technology declare that television is slowly replacing the education and determination of mankind.

Opponents of the advantages of television recognize that television, along with other technology, is
threatening the safety of American society as it advances more and more. These so called
improvements manipulate mankind into relying on technology for nearly everything, further
weakening the willpower of the human race to challenge this mistreatment. A theory formulated by
Raymond Kurzweil states that America is approaching a moment approximately 2045 where
computers will exceed the intelligence of the human brain. When that happens, artificial intelligence
will exist with mankind it may even have the ability to reproduce itself. The theory is easily believed
when people recognize the fact that computers and other forms of technology are getting faster at an
increasing rate. People rely on computers for work ethic, television for entertainment, and internet for
social relationships. If man does not change its habits and work to inhibit their reliance on technology,
the reality of 2045 is imminent. The human species will evolve into a form that is not even
comparable to the present condition of mankind we will soon be a society driven by laziness and
stupidity. Technological advancements must be put under control before America reaches an age
where artificial intelligence outweighs human life. Television, computers, and other technological
innovation may seem beneficial right now, but if they

Repercussions of Julius Caesar s Poor Leadership
William Shakespeare s tragedy Julius Caesar highlights how weak leaders affect society s condition.
Shakespeare displays this through the actions of multiple characters, one of whom is Julius Caesar, a
Roman general and senator greatly favored by the people. Caesar enters the play by ignoring a
soothsayer s omen to beware the ides of March, an action that is indicative of his belief in his personal
invulnerability. Caesar s continuous disregard of warnings of his death manifests into his ultimate
demise. Shakespeare extrapolates Caesar s arrogance, physical weakness, and unfortunate fate to
elucidate how rulers with similar traits would eventually fail and foment disarray between their
people. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Three Reasons To Have Your Home s Air Ducts Cleaned
You may go for years without having the air ducts in your home cleaned. If you maintain a clean home
and change the filters regularly on your HVAC system, dust may not accumulate very fast in the ducts.
It may be difficult to know when to have your ducts cleaned since they are difficult to see inside of.
Here are some signs that it s time to have the ducts cleaned and how to go about it.
When Dust Blows Out The Vents
When dust gets so bad that you see it coming out of the register vents, that s a sure sign the ducts need
cleaned. The contractor can use a brush and vacuum to clean off the sides of the ducts and pull the
dust out of your house. When your ducts are that full of dust, you should take a look at why. Maybe
you aren t changing the filters in your HVAC system as often as you should. Another possible cause is
letting dust accumulate in your house. To slow down the rate of dust accumulation in the air ducts,
vacuum your home regularly and keep surfaces dusted. Also, don t forget to change the filters in your
HVAC as often as recommended by the manufacturer. These steps could prolong the time until the
next cleaning is required and they could also improve the air quality in your home.

Mold spores in the air could also aggravate your allergies. You may not be able to see the mold until

the AC or furnace kicks on. Mold in the ducts is not a usual occurrence, so you ll want to know why it
s there so you can remedy the problem to keep the mold from returning. You might have a roof leak

Analysis Of Hawthorne s The Scarlet Letter
Truths Hawthorne s wilderness is exactly what its name implies: wild. It does not hold the same rules
or laws that Puritan civilization does. Instead it presents a myriad of situations and emotions, which
make it one of the most important symbols in The Scarlet Letter. However, there is a twist. It doesn t
just symbolize one thing, but two that are distinctly contrary to one another. The forest can be a place
of true nature where a person is shown as who they are supposed to be, not who other people make
them out to be. The forest can also be a place of uncovering the sin that lies beneath everyone s mind.
These purposes have one thing in common: the revelation of truths.
To the characters, the forest can be a place of solitude and separation that dismantles all of the strict
and artificial laws of man. It is here that Hester Prynne may undo the clasp that fastened the scarlet
letter, and, taking it from her bosom, threw it to a distance among the withered leaves (Hawthorne
138). The scarlet A is the epitome of unnatural and restricting guidelines set forth by man, yet within
the trees nothing of that kind matters. The forest has served as the setting of Hester s liberation and
has enabled the true form of her to be shown, albeit only to Dimmesdale and Pearl. Through her
actions, Hester has used this location to tear away the shackles of Puritanical expectation and define
who she really is by the only laws that matter, nature s.
The forest continues the attempt by

Analysis Of The Film Green Lantern
As one can imagine, being trapped out in the ocean, hundreds of feet from any kind of safety while an
enormous shark is circling you, has to be the most frightening experience one can endure. Nancy, a
young medical student ventures out to a secluded beach in Mexico to enjoy some time surfing, but
little does she know how close to death she will come. The suspense that builds up as Nancy struggles
to escape her predator throughout the film is what keeps the viewers on their toes, as the entire movie
revolves around her plan to make it back to shore. This being the plot, can seem dull and uninteresting
at first, but as the film progresses, it s hard to take your eyes off the screen. The acting of Blake
Lively, who plays Nancy, helps to make the film even better, as many people know her from her other
acting rolls, such as Sarena van der Woodsen from the hit television show Gossip Girl and Carol Ferris
from the film Green Lantern . The director of the film, Jaume Collet Serra, is known for creating
movies with an extensive amount of suspense. He is able to get an incredible performance from actors,
as well as understand all of the scenes from the perspective of the viewers, thus giving him the ability
to know exactly what needs to take place to keep the film interesting. Because Blake Lively is in every
scene, it is obvious that the film is customized to her and her acting skills. She portrays a protagonist
who most overcome her fear and gain strength throughout the course

about stroke which includes describing the demographics, characteristics, and challenges of the
disease. Additionally, this report will explain current medical and educational issues, non music
therapy treatment trends, and current effective therapeutic interventions regarding stroke. Near the
end, a specific piece of information will be provided that the author of this report deems important for
music therapists to know.
Demographics, Characteristics, Challenges According to American Stroke Association (ASA), stroke
is a disease that affects the arteries that lead to the brain. A stroke occurs when a blood vessel that
carries oxygen and nutrients to the brain is either blocked by a clot or bursts. As a result, part of the
brain cannot get the blood and oxygen it needs which causes brain cells to die (American Stroke
Association, n.d.). Depending on where the stroke occurs in the brain, the level/type of impairment
differs with the individual. For example, if a stroke occurs in the back of the brain, it is likely that
some disability involving vision will result. Overall, the effects of a stroke depend primarily on the
location of the obstruction and the extent of brain tissue affected (American Stroke Association, n.d.).
Additionally, the type of impairment will differ depending on the side of the brain the stroke occurred.
If the stroke occurred in the right side

Baptism and the Holy Spirit
Baptism and the Holy Spirit in the Book of Acts
Water Baptism vs Baptized with the Spirit and Power
The book of Acts begins with Jesus parting words to His apostles before His ascension to the right
hand of God the Father. In His opening statement Jesus promises the Holy Spirit, and He does this by
distinguishing the coming of the Spirit from the baptism of John. For John truly baptized with water,
but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now. (Acts 1:5) John had testified
the same of his baptism, I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, but He who is coming after
me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit
and fire. (Matthew 3:11, also in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But the following two consideration indicate that the unique baptism of the Holy Spirit which
accompanied the apostle s ministry is not normative for the Lord s church.
● First, not everyone who was baptized (with water) later received the baptism of the Spirit. In fact, of
the (at least) nine occurrences of water baptism in the book of Acts, two are followed by the baptism
of the Holy Spirit, and one is preceded by the Holy Spirit precedes baptism by water (Acts 10).
Pentecost is a unique instance where three thousand are baptized with water after the Apostles were
baptized by the Holy Spirit. So we see that already in the book of Acts that the baptism of the Holy
Spirit is not the normal and regular form of baptism. On the other hand, every convert to the Holy
Church in Acts is baptized with water. This is why the church has taught that the baptism of water in
the name of the Holy Trinity is a sacrament which works faith and gives the forgiveness of all sin,
while the unique baptism of the Holy Spirit is not a sacrament, but a sign of the unique office of Jesus
(ascended to the right hand of God) and of the apostles (sent by Jesus to teach His Word).
● Second, as just mentioned, the signs that accompanied Jesus ministry also accompany the apostolic
preaching, showing that their word was pure. (See Acts 2:22; Hebrews 2:4)
St Peter preached in his first sermon, Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a man

Advantages Of Saudi Women Drive

Q10) In your opinion, why do you think Saudi women were not allowed to drive? [see p. 68] In my
opinion, I think the Saudi women are not allowed to drive because it would give them power and
personal freedom. They would be able to go out without the permission of their husbands or fathers,
nor would they need to fully rely on their husbands or fathers anymore. According to the article, Saudi
women were not allowed to drive because, most feel that driving here is dangerous and initially for
women would be as disastrous as when men started. Accident factor aside, it would be worse because
men unaccustomed to seeing women drive would follow and bother. It would be a great sport (Alireza

The Growing Problem of Food Intolerance
Food intolerance has been a growing problem. Symptoms can vary anywhere from nausea, skin
rashes, anemia, depressions to nutritional deficiencies as well as thyroid disease, kidney failure and
cancer. This research paper explores information regarding food intolerance looking specifically at the
role of gluten on the immune system and how an elimination diet plays a role.
Gluten is a protein found in most cereal grains and is consumed in greater quantities than any other
form of protein. It has been estimated that 6% to 7% of the U.S population have been diagnosed to be
gluten sensitive, bringing that number to almost 20 million people. Intolerance to gluten relates to
gastrointestinal problems which include diarrhea, bloating and might result in consumption. Other
body systems that are affected are the central and peripheral nervous systems, the integumentary
system and the endocrine system. Berstad et al at Oslo s Lovisenberg Diaconale Hospital studied 84
participants who have been referred to gastroenterologists for digestive problems which the patients
think are caused by sensitivities to certain kinds of foods. The results of the study showed that all by

Technological Advances In Australia Essay
Over the past century we have seen a number of technological achievements that have improved the
living standards in Australia. With inventions ranging from the television to the affordable car, all
these achievements have come together to make the modern country Australia which many call the
lucky country . There are three main technological advancements that were pivotal during post WW2
in making the country that we know today.
The development of an affordable car in the early 1950s changed the way people lived their lives by
making private travel faster and more efficient. For once people were no longer limited to the place
where they lived, people who lived in remote areas of Australia were less isolated with the car
increasing their connectedness with urban areas in Australia. Employment opportunities increased for
people who owned a car because they were no longer limited to jobs within their local area, also
having benefits to the economy by decreasing times from going to and from work. People were also

Slavery American Slavery
Slavery in America has always been a widely discussed topic. Many of these discussions have be
focus on why slavery grew so rapidly between the late 1700 s and the mid 1800 s just before the Civil
War. The number of slaves in the south during the late 1700 s was approximately 500,000, this number
grew to almost four million by the 1860 s. There is evidence to support that the perpetuation and
expansion of black slavery in the United States between 1776 and 1860 was influenced by greed, a
since of white superiority, and legislation. A combination that would lead to an eventual civil war.
Greed was a major driving force in the expansion of black slavery in the in the 18th and 19th
centuries. This expansion of slavery was a cycle that would perpetuate itself. Plantation owners would
realize early on that the ownership of slave would increase their socioeconomic status and the greed
for this status was enormous. The use of slaves would create higher profit margins for the plantation
owners. With higher profits, plantation owners could purchase more land, and with more land came
the need for more labor (slaves) to operate the larger plantation. A larger plantation would lead to
owner coming into power within the local government as a top land owner. The political power that
came with local government leadership also became lusted after. At the time, the greed for more
money birthed the greed for more land, the greed for more land birthed the greed for political power.

Pancreatic Magnetic Resonance Imaging Analysis
Introduction
Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma is the most common malignant tumor of the pancreas, accounting
for about 85 90% of all pancreatic tumors and is the fourth most common cause of cancer death
worldwide [1]. The remaining 10 15% of pancreatic tumors are a heterogeneous group of pancreatic
neoplasms that includes cystic pancreatic neoplasms, endocrine tumors and other uncommon
pancreatic tumors. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is reliable for the characterization of solid and
cystic pancreatic lesions. Due to the excellent soft tissue contrast, MRI is able to readily separate
cystic from noncystic tumors. Cystic tumors are frequently easier to diagnose since they often possess

Some gadolinium based contrast (GBC) agents are associated with nephrogenic systemic fibrosis

best approach for high risk patients[14].
Also, had been reported that the incidence of immediate hypersensitivity reactions to MR contrast

Zeitoun Literary Analysis
Journalism is popular, but it is popular mainly as fiction. Life is one world, and life seen in the
newspapers is another. ~Gilbert Chesterton. Journalism, narratives and stories contain aspects of
fiction because life on paper juxtaposes the reality of society. Similar controversy surrounds Eggers
novel Zeitoun due to the fact that it alters the audience perception of the Zeitoun family from a dark
reality into a heroic story with a purpose of promoting his own message. While Eggers incorporates a
power narrative, his novel Zeitoun is fiction because he employs repeated imagery and false
characterization in order to manipulate his readers to focus on the dehumanization and injustices of
Hurricane Katrina victims and their cooperation to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In an article by John Simmerman, Kathy reveals to the public that she suffered abuse from her
husband sometime after they got married in 1994 up until the storm and afterward. (Simmerman, 1).
The phrase 1994 up until the storm and afterward stresses that this violence took place way before and
during the publishing of the novel. In contrast to the novel s false characterization of a happy
marriage, Kathy exposes the violence she faced as she was married to Zeitoun. Thus, establishing that
as Eggers incorporated the perfect narrative to convey the injustices faced by Zeitoun, he hid the fact
that Zeitoun was not a heroic citizen and rather he was an abusive man towards his wife. Furthermore,
in Victoria Patterson s article, he articulates that Eggers Zeitoun is a loving family man peaceful, calm,
and devoted to his wife, but in actuality, Zeitoun is punching his now ex wife in the back of her head.
(Patterson, 2). The characterization of peaceful, calm collocates with his actual actions such as
punching . In contrast to Eggers false characterization of Zeitoun as peaceful and calm, real world
Zeitoun is actually very abusive and violent. Thus,

Juvenile Retrograde Law
The government, instead of ensuring proper implementation of the rehabilitation and correction of the
children in conflict with the law is shredding its responsibility through this retrograde law, holding the
children accountable for the failures of our juvenile correctional institutions. This would never
succeed as a deterrent and would only serve to ostracize them. This amendment to the preexisting law,
not only lacks a rational social objective but also constitutional validity. The selective and unequal
treatment of children between the age group of 16 18 years clearly violates the fundamental rights
guaranteed under Article 14 extending equal protection of law and equality before the law and Article
15 (3) of the Constitution allowing

Aaron Copland Music Analysis
Aaron Copland is a twentieth century American composer, teacher, and conductor. Schuman (1980),
refers to Copland as the Dean of American Composers , which he attributes to his stylistic
contributions to American culture including film. His works includes songs, chamber music, ballets,
theater, symphony orchestra, solos, and chorus. Copland s approach to composing included twelve
tone, a basic exhibition of serialism. Crawford Hamberlin (2013), describe this style as organizing
twelve pitches of the chromatic scale into a unique pattern. This method expressed a way of
organizing notes freely, without focusing on a key center. To non musical ears, the atonality heard is
interpreted as strange, exotic, or in some cases esthetically pleasing. Copland s musical influence
includes his time in Paris during the 1920 s with Stravinsky, a Russian Nationalist. Stravinsky s style
was inclusive of traditional Russian folk music, evident in his ballet Petrushka (Navarro 2011).
Copland composed Outdoor Overture in 1938, as a request from Alexander Richter, Director of Music
at the High School of Music and Arts in New York City. Pease (2015), attributes the inspiration behind
this composition from Richter s campaign: American Music for American Youth. The score
(APPENDIX A), shares program notes, along with an extended synopsis of the piece. The basis for
Outdoor Overture, is a theme expressed initially by the upper woodwinds and strings (APPENDIX B).

Analysis Of Michelle s Story The Auction Block
When the crate arrived, Michelle knew her precious artwork survived the auction block. Mike had
bought her story how it tore at her soul to sell the pieces. It would be akin to brushing away chunks of
her life, erasing it as if it never existed, she told him. She didn t lie. It would kill her to sell them. She
d only receive half the proceeds. Besides, Mike, now bent on expunging all memories of their
marriage, expeditiously liquidated their past at fire sale prices. His previous groveling, begging for
counseling, anything to repair their marriage, now gone. Michelle knew he d sell the artwork for a
fraction of its worth. Now, with their arrival, she was set. She d thrive, not rot in the peasant class
where she d been banished. Michelle created her sales plan as she opened the crate. First, contact the
most prestigious auction house to sell the pieces. Next, deposit the money in an over seas account
Mike could never find. Last, leave the stinking hole she called home for twenty years. Screw them.
They don t need her? She didn t need them. She pried open the crate and lifted out a painting. As the
packing peanuts floated to the floor around her in an abstract pattern, Michelle looked stupefied at the
painting. This is the result of her soul baring? A family portrait? She stared at her younger self,
holding Cole, while Michaela and Mackenzie rest their arms on Mike s shoulders. The portrait, along
with similar ones in the crate, chronologically captured her faux life.

  • 2. Transfer Pricing Is An Internal Practice Transfer pricing is an internal practice within an MNE and thus it is insulated against the open market forces of demand and supply. In competitive open markets, the forces of demand and supply would interact to determine the price at which goods and services are transferred. While these forces could have an impact on transfer pricing from a macro perspective, their impact on intra group pricing can be limited. Larry J. Merville and J. William Perry (1978) identified the various items that affect the setting of transfer prices to include methods and rates of income taxation, quotas and duties on importation of materials, restrictions on flow of capital, currency regulations and the preferences of management of an MNE for risk avoidance through consideration of the risks associated with the fluctuation of foreign currency exchange rates, rates of inflation and the risk of nationalisation. Managerial reward and control is another item that is considered and often plays a significant role in transfer pricing (Merville and Petty, 1978). Some of these items often lead to conflicting goals and objectives that an MNE has to deal with. This section analyses the issue of transfer pricing in light of these considerations. Theoretical framework / conceptual framework Optimal intra firm pricing Hirshleifer (1956) poses that in order to obtain optimal intra firm pricing; the transfer price must be equal to the marginal cost of the affiliates producing goods in conditions of ... • 3. No Good And Nobody Is All Evil Nobody is all good and nobody is all evil. Throughout all history, whether it be in the United States or somewhere else in the world, there has always been people who are infamous for unspeakable crimes or for their tremendous acts of bravery. There has always been people who have seemed to be the literal definition of good and evil and have always been made out like they were exactly that: completely good or completely evil. It s easy to label a person like that, to ignore any of their other actions that may contradict what the world knows them as, but that s the thing about labels; nobody can truly fit completely under them. Even someone like Adolf Hitler was once upon a time an okay person before he was completely driven by fear and bitterness to the point he actually attempted to wipe out an entire group of people. The question is, if a person s actions were courageous or wicked enough, should they only be defined by those actions? Someone like Nathan Bedford Forrest, who was a racist his whole life, someone who was involved in the trading of slaves and even joined the Ku Klux Klan after the war because he was so bitter about the defeat of the Confederacy; should he be defined by only these hateful actions? The answer depends: because while no one is completely good or completely evil like Adolf Hitler, Forrest believed that one group of people was superior to another; and instead of silently hating, Forrest decided to take action and help fight for a cause that went ... Reflect upon your answer from #1 in the pre service reflection regarding your fears, concerns, expectations and perceived challenges that you wrote about. How were your initial thoughts confirmed or denied? Address any biases or stereotypes that you discovered that you had. Working with the students at the Be a Leader Foundation this semester, I realized that many while many of my fears were correct, I discovered a bias I did not even know I had. Going into the Be a Leader Foundation, I was afraid that I would not able to relate to the student because they are going through more difficult situations in their lives. • 6. The Success Of The Great Recession The Great Recession began in December 2007 and officially ended in June 2009 while many macroeconomic forces were at fault, the primary cause was securitizations of debt. While debt is an important part of any economy, allowing for the financing of business activities, the purchase of homes, and continuing education, there is also an inherent risk in the system. Most debt is issued in with fixed rate interest, though during the 1970 s a new instrument was introduced to both consumers and businesses, which was variable rate loans. This instrument, allowed for introductory rates for a short time frame, then becomes a variable rate, which is normally 200 basis points above the going rate for standard fixed loans. Though a relatively new instrument, it allowed for the most recent recession to become one of the largest losses of capital in recent history, as millions of homeowners were allowed to purchase homes, which they could not afford. This was only the first mechanism, which allowed the market to collapse. Many parallel events to this recession have happened throughout recorded history. The first among them in the United States was the great panic of 1837, which had similar underpinnings as the most recent crisis. The Great Panic of 1837 Financial tools and arrangements have almost always been speculative, going from the first ownership of land and the creation of wealth, mankind has always tried to value and gain or time what has become referred to as the market. • 10. History Of The Bubonic Plague When a matter such as the Bubonic Plague strikes in a world unexposed to the current technology and information citizens tend to create false cures and treatments. These treatments are highly dangerous and unhygienic. A common treatment used was bloodletting, which was the act of extracting blood from a patient to remove the disease. Similar to bloodletting was boil lancing which is when you take a knife to slice the buboes until they bursted. Buboes were a symptom of the Bubonic Plague described as a swollen inflamed lymph node. Others however believed in superstitious practices, for example burning aromatic herbs and bathing in rose water or vinegar. Some more eccentric treatments included witchcraft and potion making which many were persecuted for practicing. Now it is known that the treatments above were inefficient in curing and or preventing the bubonic plague. Yet, the definition of incest is one of the most important definitions for the people involved, though the law s and psychologists meanings are not much the same. I would like to expand this and say that the dominant culture s constant barrage of feedback may obscure mocking or satirical actions for the actual individuals performing them. It is quite possible that enactors of contextual actions will be applauded by the dominant culture which misses the subtlety, and that this may lead to an obfuscation of their message or even to a corruption of their own beliefs as the appeal of acceptance becomes increasingly prevalent. Contextual actions are directed at subversion based on an individual s defined sense of identity, but these actions may become greatly skewed as the context is removed or modified. In her essay Under Western Eyes: Feminist Scholarship and Colonial Discourses. , Chandra Talpade Mohanty demonstrates how we misunderstand oppression within other cultures because we do not understand the specific context of women in that culture (Mohanty 335, 337, 340). We can use this to draw a parallel to our contextual actions, in that individuals outside of the context may miss the significance of an action. This occurs not only for individuals in different situations within the same dominant culture, but more severely for individuals of different cultures. The problem here is that because individuals do not understand a particular action as being subversive the result is that the deed normalizes a certain behavior as being what is ... • 23. Explanation Of Solubility Research What is solubility? Solubility is a chemical property referring to the ability for a given substance, the solute, to dissolve in a solvent. (Science Daily, 2014) Solubility occurs around people throughout their everyday life, and is exemplified through their food and drinks, and even the air that surrounds them. Solubility is a complex idea that can be understood in a simpler form, i.e., having hot coffee and adding sugar to it. It appears that the hot coffee melts the salt, but deeper beyond the surface the hot coffee molecules break apart the sugar molecules; the molecules are broken down, because of the increase in temperature that causes the molecules to collide harder. The collision is caused by the faster, vibrating molecules in the solution. The solute (salt) is the substance that dissolves in the solvent (water) and it depends on a few things: temperature, volume, type of solvent and concentration. The best of these morphing creatures is the mimic octopus. It adopts the colors of a poisonous sea snake and changes its body into a thin ribbon to scare predators away. People have seen mimic octopuses look like lion fish, sea stars and other animals. When hungry, the octopus takes the form of a crab. Crabs fooled by the display end up eaten. It doesn t just symbolize one thing, but two that are distinctly contrary to one another. The forest can be a place of true nature where a person is shown as who they are supposed to be, not who other people make them out to be. The forest can also be a place of uncovering the sin that lies beneath everyone s mind. These purposes have one thing in common: the revelation of truths. To the characters, the forest can be a place of solitude and separation that dismantles all of the strict and artificial laws of man. It is here that Hester Prynne may undo the clasp that fastened the scarlet letter, and, taking it from her bosom, threw it to a distance among the withered leaves (Hawthorne 138). But the following two consideration indicate that the unique baptism of the Holy Spirit which accompanied the apostle s ministry is not normative for the Lord s church. ● First, not everyone who was baptized (with water) later received the baptism of the Spirit. In fact, of the (at least) nine occurrences of water baptism in the book of Acts, two are followed by the baptism of the Holy Spirit, and one is preceded by the Holy Spirit precedes baptism by water (Acts 10). Pentecost is a unique instance where three thousand are baptized with water after the Apostles were baptized by the Holy Spirit. So we see that already in the book of Acts that the baptism of the Holy Spirit is not the normal and regular form of baptism. On the other hand, every convert to the Holy Church in Acts is baptized with water. This is why the church has taught that the baptism of water in the name of the Holy Trinity is a sacrament which works faith and gives the forgiveness of all sin, while the unique baptism of the Holy Spirit is not a sacrament, but a sign of the unique office of Jesus (ascended to the right hand of God) and of the apostles (sent by Jesus to teach His Word). ● Second, as just mentioned, the signs that accompanied Jesus ministry also accompany the apostolic preaching, showing that their word was pure. • 46. Aaron Copland Music Analysis Aaron Copland is a twentieth century American composer, teacher, and conductor. Schuman (1980), refers to Copland as the Dean of American Composers , which he attributes to his stylistic contributions to American culture including film. His works includes songs, chamber music, ballets, theater, symphony orchestra, solos, and chorus. Copland s approach to composing included twelve tone, a basic exhibition of serialism. Crawford Hamberlin (2013), describe this style as organizing twelve pitches of the chromatic scale into a unique pattern. This method expressed a way of organizing notes freely, without focusing on a key center. To non musical ears, the atonality heard is interpreted as strange, exotic, or in some cases esthetically pleasing. Copland s musical influence includes his time in Paris during the 1920 s with Stravinsky, a Russian Nationalist. Stravinsky s style was inclusive of traditional Russian folk music, evident in his ballet Petrushka (Navarro 2011). Copland composed Outdoor Overture in 1938, as a request from Alexander Richter, Director of Music at the High School of Music and Arts in New York City. Pease (2015), attributes the inspiration behind this composition from Richter s campaign: American Music for American Youth. The score (APPENDIX A), shares program notes, along with an extended synopsis of the piece. The basis for Outdoor Overture, is a theme expressed initially by the upper woodwinds and strings (APPENDIX B). The idea is introduced ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 49. Analysis Of Michelle s Story The Auction Block When the crate arrived, Michelle knew her precious artwork survived the auction block. Mike had bought her story how it tore at her soul to sell the pieces. It would be akin to brushing away chunks of her life, erasing it as if it never existed, she told him. She didn t lie. It would kill her to sell them. She d only receive half the proceeds. Besides, Mike, now bent on expunging all memories of their marriage, expeditiously liquidated their past at fire sale prices. His previous groveling, begging for counseling, anything to repair their marriage, now gone. Michelle knew he d sell the artwork for a fraction of its worth. Now, with their arrival, she was set. She d thrive, not rot in the peasant class where she d been banished. Michelle created her sales plan as she opened the crate. First, contact the most prestigious auction house to sell the pieces.
