Life And Death Of John Fitzgerald Kennedy Essay
Life to Death of John Fitzgerald Kennedy Hailee Barnwell Central High School Abstract John F.
Kennedy lived a very hard, but famous life. In his life he batted many deaths and illnesses. He was in
the navy, in congress, the Senate of the United States, and the 35th President. Even though most
people think Mr. Kennedy lived a very easy and flowing life, they are all wrong. He struggled through
life, but never let its show through to many people. While he struggled through all of his illnesses and
witnessed so many dying he still made everyone think his life was perfect. You will soon find out
everything was not so great for Mr. Kennedy. Life to Death of John Fitzgerald Kennedy Early Life Mr.
Kennedy was born into a family that was rich and famous, and he had eight siblings. His family was
on the fortunate side with his family being on the top of everything. He went through an elite private
school, and through the Great Depression Mr. Kennedy s family did not struggle because of their
money. Mr. Kennedy only remembers reading about the Great Depression in many different books at
Harvard (Department, 2013) Sicknesses Everyone thinks his life was great, but the ugly side of his life
was because of his chronic bouts of illness. He experienced Addison s disease, Osteoporosis, a bad
back, which led to him taking constant pain relievers and steroids, progressive anemia, and also low
blood pressure (Kelly, 2013). Addison s Disease is where Mr. Kennedy s

What Is The Moral Of Plato s Apology
Plato s Apology, is by far one of the most logical yet critical thinking text that I have ever read. Plato
describes Socrates, the accused atheist and corrupter of youth in ancient Athens, as a true beacon of
ethics and morality. The method that Plato uses to depict Socrates on trial gives us a look back on how
the trial of a man who encourages one of sound mind to ask questions even to those who are deemed
wise in the eyes of others. Despite facing odds that are stacked highly against him, and this being his
first time in court For I am more than seventy years of age, and this is the first time that I have ever
appeared in a court of law, and I am quite a stranger to the ways of the place; and therefore I would

Continuing with his defense Socrates addresses one of his accusers Meletus in accordance to the
accusation that he is a corrupter of youth.. He asks a series of questions to Meletus which he answers
yes to all. But it Socrates last question that shows his true motive for all the questions, Then every
Athenian improves and elevates them; all with the exception of myself; and I alone am their
corrupter? Is that what you affirm? (Plato) Meletus replies That is what I stoutly affirm. (Plato)
Socrates response to this just add another mark for his cleverness I am very unfortunate if that is true.
... Happy indeed would be the condition of youth if they had one corrupter only, and all the rest of the
world were their improvers. (Plato) By asking these questions to Meletus, Socrates exposes Meletus
answers as counterintuitive: For if they were true then the society of Athens would be a much better
place with little to no corruption. Socrates reveals it is those who are accusing the innocent of being
corrupt that are themselves corrupt.
Even though Socrates

Smart Enough Women
In part I of the psychology in media project I reviewed the article Why Young Girls Don t Think They
are Smart Enough written by Sarah Jane Leslie and Andrei Cimpain. The authors of this article
explored the psychological research they conducted along with Lin Bian which is aimed at
discovering the underlying cause for the disparities between men and women across academic
disciplines. In the media article published in the New York Times the authors concluded that
stereotypes are mainly to blame for these disparities. They also noted that these social stereotypes start
affecting girls as young as the age of six, and that the shift in thought is drastic. In a more formal
report which they published in Science Magazine, through a set of ... Show more content on

The writers do also state alternatives for the results of studies one to four, among them that boys are
held back which may inflate confidence and women s modesty norms. They also give reason for why
these alternatives are not possible. The writers omit writing about the alternatives all together in the
media article. All in all, I believe that both works are very well written informative pieces. Both are
concise, easy to read, and very get to the point. The main difference is that the media article pushes a
call to action by stating suggesting methods in which we can change how this brilliance=males
stereotype is affecting young girls. This is definitely an understandable difference due to the fact that
the media article is directed towards the general public, while the science journal is mostly directed
towards the scientific community. I believe that the writers did a fantastic job in the NY times article,
however I believe that the article would have benefitted from using more real life anecdotes to show
the extent to which this brilliance=males stereotype can affect women. Altogether, I strongly agree
with both the media article and the scientific journal, something has to be done about this

Film Techniques In Stand By Me
Stand by me is a film directed by Rob Reiner, one of the memorable scene in the the movie was near
the end when they all found the dead body of Ray Brower, in this scene the director used a variety of
filming techniques for this scene such as close up, medium shot and low angle,it also included music
and voice over as well. In the scene where they found the dead body, it showed the filming technique
close up when Vern found Ray Brower under the bushes, the director used this scene to show their
emotion towards Ray Brower and how they are all very shaken to see the dead body of him, because
they did not know he was dead. Also in the scene mid shot and the low angle was used to create the
effect where the boys were made to look bigger and

A Dinner At Home Is A Great Experience For People
Having dinner at home is supposed to be a great experience for people: being with families, enjoying
hot soup and eating delicious pork. However, in the article The Diner, Bill Trub represents a dinner
experience which is a little weird to readers. The I returns home and has his dinner in a small
restaurant. During the meal, he sees diners who he cannot recognize behave in a strange manner. For
example, a bearded lady yawns. She s eating meatloaf and mash without a knife or fork. Her name is
Rachel, Denise or Chuck. The town is filled with such people with such three uncertain names.
According to a baby grandfather s words, they are all waiting for and welcoming I , whose name is
Bill, Bill, or Bill here, to get back home. In my eyes, the people there are like savages or walking
bodies. Their identities are unclear and they cannot be recognized by others, while they act as if they
are numb, lacking the ability of thinking. The fiction is like an exaggerated model of the real world
where people are in a tendency to be objectified, and I would like to share my opinions on why it
happens and what it will lead to. Nowadays, money is taking a significant part of people s life. To get
money, lots of people objectify others as if they are tools instead of human beings, and ignore their
basic physical and mental needs. Meanwhile, during the process, they are objectifying themselves
also, for they almost become machines designed for making money. But what is it

Inflammatory Bowel Disease in Pets and Companion Animals
Inflammatory bowel disease or IBD is actually not just one disease, but a catchall term for a group of
gastrointestinal diseases that result in the inflammation of the gastrointestinal system and a variety of
symptoms. This is true for both dogs and cats. And, while the exact cause of ... Show more content on

The food allergens thought to trigger the condition include meat proteins, milk proteins, artificial
coloring or other additives and preservatives and gluten from wheat and other grains. Some dog
breeds are more likely to develop IBD than others. These include French bulldogs, Irish setters,
lundehunds, and basenjis.
Signs and Effects of IBD in Pets
Cats and dogs both exhibit similar symptoms when struggling with IBD. Common signs of IBD in
pets are vomiting diarrhea, weight loss, abnormal appetite, and lack of energy, blood in the stool,
flatulence, borborygmus, or a rumbling in the guts, depression, fatigue, abdominal pain, and distressed
coat.
Diagnosis of IBD
Unfortunately, getting a definitive diagnosis of IBD can be very difficult. Many of the signs and
symptoms of IBD mirror those of a great many other diseases. Your veterinarian will want to get a
detailed history from you and as much information as you can give them regarding the symptoms you
ve observed, their duration, and severity. They are then likely to run a series of blood tests and
examine your pet s feces. An ultrasound or X rays may be order to check on the status of other organs.
Metabolic disease, parasitic infection, bacterial infection, some types of cancers, and (in the case of
cats) feline leukemia will all need to be ruled out prior to a diagnosis. A food trial utilizing a

Earths Water is Full of Sharks
TYPE OF SHARKS
It is believed that a species has many family or in other word, kind or tribe. As for shark, there are
many kinds or type of shark which has slightly distinguished the species. Researchers believed that
different kind of shark has different kind of characteristics and behaviours. There are so many species
of sharks in the oceans around the world. Some of them are big in size while others can be quite small
and some of them are to be feared while some others just minding their own business. It is surprised to
know that some of the largest species of sharks in the ocean are the nicest ones to encounter.
Great White Shark is the biggest of all the deadliest and dangerous sharks. It is also the most popular
shark among the people as it always appears in movies and documentaries. These kinds of sharks are
torpedo shaped, knife like tails and a pair of fins. There have been reports of the Great Whites
weighing in at over 7000 lbs and exceed 20 feet in length. Male and female great white sharks grow at
different rates as the males become adults in about nine years while the female great white sharks
grow larger than males and they took about 13 to 15 years to be adults. Actually the Great White
Shark has a white pearl colour on its belly and the top of its body is actually a gray or blue in colour
which makes it kind of difficult to see inside the water. With a darkish colour on the back of the shark,
it is hard for the other animals to spot them, which makes it

The Great Depression in the 1930s America s Great Depression began with the dramatic crash of the
stock market on Black Thursday , October 24, 1929 when 16 million shares of stock were quickly sold
by panicking investors who had lost faith in the American economy. At the height of the Depression in
1933, nearly 25% of the Nation s total work force, 12,830,000 people, were unemployed. Wage
income for workers who were lucky enough to have kept their jobs fell almost 43% between 1929 and
1933. It was the worst economic disaster in American history. Farm prices fell so drastically that many
farmers lost their homes and land. Many went hungry. JOHN MAYNARD KEYNES The General
Theory of Employment, Interest and Money  argued that it is possible for high unemployment and
underutilized capacity to persist in market economies  argued that government fiscal and monetary
policies can affect output and thereby reduce unemployment and shorten economic downturns

The Cheer Of The Football Cheer Squad
Throughout the years, I have participated in many activities during high school. I have participated in
Norwalk Cheer all four years in various sports: competition, wrestling, boys basketball, and football.
My senior year I was honored to receive the opportunity to be the cheer captain of the football cheer
squad. Another activity I participated in was Student Council. I was elected treasurer my junior and
senior year. This meant that I was in charge of budgeting for dances. Considering I was in charge of
the money, I often was the one decorating for dances as well. We also run the food can drive and Little
Kids Christmas. Little Kids Christmas is about giving gifts to children who are less fortunate in the
Norwalk community. This includes anything from low income to a parent in the military overseas. We
also fundraise for the Norwalk leadership scholarship through activities like the Lakewood Lock In,
where Lakewood students pay a small fee for a night of fun activities. My friend Joe and I were once
upset that students at Norwalk only do community service because it is required to graduate. To try to
solve the problem, we have started a community service club called Student Union. I am Vice
President and once again in charge of funding. This year we were more focused on fundraising so
students in later years can use the money to do large scale community projects. Through my idea of a
pop can drive, we have raised nearly $1,200 for years to come. While focusing on

Misuse Of Power In The Great Gatsby
In this, the third and fourth section of the novel, The Great Gatsby, by F. Scott Fitzgerald, we are
finally introduced to the rich neighbour of Nick, Mr. Gatsby. From Nick s narration, we are regaled
with the impressive mansion of Mr.Gatsby, as well as his luxurious parties and his expensive cars.
From Nicks vivid description, Mr,Gatsby s power and influence are displayed as if it is a piece of
artwork at a museum. Along with the social standing demonstrated by the wealth and power Mr.
Gatsby possesses, it also displays his beyond masterful use of smoke and mirrors keep his public
image from corruption. In the novel, the misuse of power as well as the ways it is used to distort
reality are suitably hinted at during Mr Gatsby s party, and connects to the real life issues that continue
to affect the world today as well. During the first party attended by Nick, he immediately learns
important and obviously rumored news about who Mr. Gatsby really is. During his conversation with
Miss Baker, and some of her friends, Nick is told all about the great mystery that Gatsby is too the rest

Rational In Candide
Conflict Between the Rational and the Actual
In Candide, Voltaire elicits the conflicts between the rational and the actual by providing a sarcastic
distortion of optimism. Voltaire uses Pangloss and a foil character, Martin, to ridicule the literal
meaning in Leibniz s philosophy that everything is for the best . Voltaire supports the idea that
optimism restrains characters, such as Pangloss, from making logical choices of the world around
them and from taking other stances to prevent unfavorable situations. Whereas Voltaire deciphers the
conflicts between the rational and the actual by poking fun of Leibniz s philosophy, Dostoevsky does
the same but instead by concluding that because of hyperconscious, there is not much one can ... Show

However, instead of mocking the idea of optimism and trying to instill becoming far more realistic to
get out of situations such as those that Pangloss went through , the underground man decides to
remain motionless. The Underground man believes that Suffering is the sole origin of consciousness
(Dostoevsky); In other words the pain that one feels when dealing with reality leads to consciousness
and then hyperconsciousness. The Underground Man s hyperconsciousness leads him to thinks that
there are too many causes and that one cannot act on primary causes. He believed that an intelligent
man cannot become anything seriously and it is only the fool who becomes anything (Dostoevsky 11).
Because of so many primary causes the Underground man could not make up his mind and make one
decision, so his hyperconsciousness led to conscious inertia where instead he was sitting with the
hands folded [doing nothing] (Dostoevsky 10). Voltaire supports a more pessimistic point of view
where instead of letting a man die because God meant for it to be that way, to act more realistic. On
the other hand, Dostoevsky does not act, not for the sole purpose of being lazy or being optimistic but
rather because he does not know whether to choose left or right since he is overwhelmed with so much
consciousness. Both literary works by Voltaire and Dostoevsky differ in the sense that Voltaire is

Compassion Fatigue Research Paper
In the field of medicine, there is large debate over something known as compassion fatigue. Some say
it exists while others claim it doesn t. I believe the reason people debate the idea of compassion
fatigue being a reality is due to a misunderstanding in how compassion fatigue manifests.
Compassion fatigue has many names; vicarious trauma, secondary traumatic stress, and secondary
victimization. Dr. Frank M. Ochberg, MD, defines it as, ...a low level, chronic clouding of caring and
concern for others in your life whether you work in or outside the home. Over time, your ability to feel
and care for others becomes eroded through overuse of your skills of compassion. This is a good way
to explain the apathy brought on when compassion fatigue ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

I believe it to be more a lack of emotion due to frequently endured traumas in the field. In a situation
where you re able to say, Dr. Don used to react so much more to death five years ago. But he seems to
be numb now, you may be witnessing compassion fatigue manifest in lack of emotion. It s not that Dr.
Don no longer cares; It s that he no longer feels the need to, or has the will to, express emotions
toward the situation. This can pose a lot of issues in the long run. Unwillingness to express emotion
can turn to depression, anxiety, lethargy, and self loathing. But let s look at the other side and examine
why there are those that call it a myth.
Dr. Dani McVety, DVM, states that, ...I think it s an overused term in the veterinary industry,
following with a quote from her colleague, Dr. Alice Villalobos, DVM, I believe what we really
struggle with in our profession is not so much compassion fatigue as ethical fatigue. I believe this
whole heartedly. It s not that compassion fatigue isn t real; It s that many people blanket the term over
all signs of depression in the field. Compassion fatigue is a very particular mental reaction; Using it so
frequently leads to the disbelief in its existence, which can be damaging for those truly suffering from

Alpha Haemolysis Lab Report
Introduction
There are many reasons for knowing the identity of different microbes when presented with them. The
reasons include identifying the causative agent behind the disease in a patient, understanding how it
can be treated, as well as knowing the microbe that should be used for making the right antibiotics.
With this being said, their correct identification is not only significant in a microbiology lab but also in
the medical, manufacturing, and pharmaceutical fields. The first test used in the identification of
unknown bacteria numbers 3 and 4 was the Gram stain, which was used to differentiate between gram
positive and gram negative bacteria based on their different cell wall elements. The Gram stain
procedure distinguishes between ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Such bacteria require an enriched environment as compared to bacteria that grow more easily. It is
also used to differentiate hemolytic bacteria, particularly Streptococcus species, also making it a
differential media in distinguishing the destruction of red blood cells caused by cytolytic toxins
secreted by select bacteria. If the bacteria were to have Beta hemolysis, there would be a large area of
clearing around the bacteria colony on the BAP. When Alpha hemolysis occurs, there is a blue green
tint on the bottom of the plate, as if it were bruised. With gamma hemolysis, there is actually no
hemolysis, therefore no change in the agar would occur. A Hektoen Enteric Agar was used next which
is both a selective and differential medium intended to separate and distinguish members of the
Salmonella and Shigella species from other Enterobacteria. Bile salts and bromthymol blue and acid
fuchsin dyes hinder the growth of most Gram positive organisms. Lactose, sucrose, and salicin are
fermentable carbohydrates in the HE agar that encourage this variation in growth and color. Ferric

Misconceptions of Media Violence Essay
The sense of what is right and wrong comes from within and is not influenced by what is showed on
television, or any other source of media for that matter. Advertising a product such as a George
Forman grill is one thing... I myself have fallen for countless ads and sales pitches, but to use the
media as a scapegoat for drug addiction, rape, and even murder is unfair and quite ridiculous. One
might be influenced to buy a cologne, or a grill, but to be influenced to kill someone because of a
violent show or song is non sense. Violence is in our genealogy right along with our other primitive
instincts we are now trying overcome with our logic and higher thinking. People killed, sexually

We have learned that if you live by the gun, you shall die by it. It is how you take the information in
and not just by jumping the bridge your friend jumped. I have read that Hitler and Napoleon both
enjoyed classical music, a sort of opposite of what rap is reputed as, and I believe they butchered
people all the same. Hitler played classical music while he dictated hateful ideas to his secretary that
was later to become his first book, Mein
Kampf. Classical music could not be blamed for what they did, and the same should go for any other
genre of music. Can rap and its predecessor rock be blamed for what they did?
Well let s ask O Reilly.
Violent movies and T.V. shows have been a contraversial topic for a long time. My two cents about
them have probably been said over and over again, but often ignored as unjustified. It is of course a
free country and protesters cannot stop a violent movie to come out because of the constitution, but

My Passion In Life
Passion is an emotion that human beings cannot control, it leads many down paths they never thought
they would go down. I loved football as it became a vessel to unleash anger and stress, but that
passion for that game came crashing down during sophomore year. That summer continued to have its
struggles, but it continued to improve as football season was about to begin and I could not be more
ready to start a new season. However, that dream season never came for me as on one of the last days
of summer, I learned my dad wanted to have hip surgery. A very intense operation that my dad would
need my help to come back as a new man. Which, seems like a good opportunity for my dad, but for
me, it was the end of a passion that I thought I needed to be able to continue to obtain happiness and
enjoy life. I remained worried. I remained dejected. I remained upset. All those feelings and anger
were for naught as my willingness to succeed and try new activities turned my dad s surgeries into a
whole new world of opportunities for me to explore.
The first opportunity I went after was my long lost love of music that I ignored for so long. I walked
into choir class terrified and afraid about what others would think of me being in choir class. That
class is gay. Why would I be in a dumb singing class? That went away so quickly that I don t even
remember not love going to a class more in my entire life, I practically run to that class every day. To
be able to have a class that I look forward

Iago And Othello
The play Othello by William Shakespeare showcases the unique characters of Othello and Iago.
Othello commences with Iago: Othello s general informing the audience of his hate for Othello. Next,
the Duke sends Othello, Iago, Cassio along with Desdemona and Emilia to Cyprus to defeat the Turks.
Once the Turks are defeated, Iago initiates his plan to ruin Othello s life. He plants the idea of
Desdemona s unfaithfulness in Othello s mind, which drives Othello mad. This leads to Othello
murdering Desdemona and Othello s death. Throughout the play Othello and Iago play key roles in the

Firstly, an outline of the selected patients journey will be delivered and the pathophysiology and
related nursing care of the patient and their long term condition will be explained. Secondly, the wider
role of the nurse and the self management of the patient with the long term condition will be explored.
Finally, the knowledge gained from this assessment and how it will influence future practice will be

noticing the symptoms when she was visiting a friend. Mrs X started experiencing sudden trouble
speaking and seeing, weaknesses, sudden confusion and severe headache. As her symptoms worsened
her friend thought it was necessary to call the emergency services and after explaining Mrs X s
symptoms an ambulance arrived within 15minutes. Mrs X was quickly escorted to the local accident
and emergency department where she was immediately assessed. A number of tests were carried out
including an electrocardiogram to show how the stroke was caused, a CT scan to determine what type
of stroke Mrs X had and a swallowing test was carried out by speech and language therapy to assess
whether or not she could swallow properly, if not this would create a risk that food may get into the

The Overuse Of Antibiotics And Antibiotics
The overuse of antibiotics has been a problem for well over a decade. This misuse leads to many
nonvisible problems arising within the human population. As the use of antibiotics increases, the
number of antibiotic resistant bacteria also increases. When bacteria become resistant to an antibiotic,
another antibiotic must be used to try and kill it and the cycle becomes vicious. Michael Martin, Sapna
Thottathil, and Thomas Newman stated that antimicrobial resistance is, an increasingly serious threat
to global public health that requires action across all government sectors and society (2409).
Take for example MRSA (Methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus), a S. aureus strain that was
discovered in 1961 to be resistant to the antibiotic methicillin. Webmd indicates that MRSA has now
grown its resistance from methicillin to amoxicillin, penicillin, oxacillin and many other common
antibiotics (MRSA). This increase in resistance of a methicillin resistant strain of S. aureus can be
attributed to the increasing use and overuse of antibiotics, not only in the doctor s office but also in
agriculture. MRSA is only one of many antibiotic resistant strains of bacteria. New resistant strains are
evolving rapidly. According to Dr. Ed Warren, there are high levels of antibiotic resistance in bacteria
causing common infections (e.g. urinary tract infections, pneumonia, bloodstream infections) in all
regions of the world (21).
In agriculture, overuse begins with nontherapeutic

Drinking Age Persuasive Essay
When picturing college, people should think about huge classrooms, hard professors, and a better
learning experience than they have ever received before. In reality, two things come to everyone s
mind before anything else: partying every night and binge drinking. The United States has some of the
highest rates of underage drinking and hospitalizations due to alcohol poisoning. In Barrett Seaman s
article, How Bingeing Became the New College Sport, Seaman argues that continually adding more
restrictions to the drinking law could be making the issue worse or maybe causing the entire problem.
By focusing on college binge drinking, Seaman convinces his readers that instead of twenty one, the
US should lower the drinking age to promote appropriate drinking habits. The drinking age set at
eighteen was not originally an issue. In the late 60s, the voting age was changed to eighteen; privacy
laws were enacted; and the drinking age, depending on each states decision, was lowered to eighteen
as the new age that legally defined adulthood (Seaman 1 2). Then in 1984, Congress was influenced
by Mothers Against Drunk Driving to pass a law that combined compliance of the states with federal
aid highway funds in exchange for the members support; forcing the states to raise the drinking age to
twenty one. There is no doubt that the law, which achieved full 50 state compliance in 1988, saved
lives, but it had the unintended consequence of creating a covert culture around alcohol as the

The Terrorist Attacks Of The United States
September 11, 2001, started as a perfect day, but as the day went on, chaos and terror erupted in the
streets of New York City. New York s iconic World Trade Center fell victim to hijacked commercial
airlines filled with innocent people. In 102 minutes, the world was forever changed by one of the
worst attacks the United States has ever experienced. Many factors made the terrorist attacks of
September 11th a day that is permanently etched into the hearts and minds of Americans. Nineteen
radicals linked to the Islamic terrorist group al Qaeda gained control over four airplanes and carried
out attacks against targets in the United States on 9/11. (History.com Authors) Their leader, Osama
Bin Laden, and his followers viciously opposed the United States. In al Qaeda s opinion, the United
States was an infidel because it was not governed in a manner consistent with the group s extremist
interpretation of Islam. Other characteristics of America aggravated the extremist group as well,
including our foreign policy and supporting enemies of al Qaeda. Because of his hatred of America,
Bin Laden declared a Jihad, or holy war, against the United States, which he has carried out through al
Qaeda and its affiliated organizations. (Smith) As a result, the United States faced many violent
attacks with the group, including the bombing in 1993 that took place before the attacks on September
11th. In September 1992, Ramzi Ahmed Yousef arrived in New York City from Pakistan and began

Essay on Economic Impact of Telehealth
Economic Impact The economic impact of telehealth is a critical factor to examine when looking at
the feasibility of incorporating such technologies into practice. Exploration of economics is also
essential as it has been posited that telehealth has the potential to deliver care to individuals that is cost
saving in nature (Wade, Karnon, Elshaug, Hiller, 2010). Furthermore, the estimated expenditure on
telehealth services and technology is expected to reach into the billions of dollars (Berger, 2010).
However, there are myriad individual elements that may be considered in the broad subject of
economics, which complicates determining the economic impact in a parsimonious way (Bergmo,

Caffery, Smith and Scuffham (2008) commented that email based telemedicine methodology is often
considered a low cost form of telemedicine. In their study, they took into account staff costs (including

service). Fixted costs totaled approximately $11,995 per year for the development and implementation
of a purpose written email based telemedicine system. Furthermore, supervisory costs totaled $61,454
per year. In another study, Palmas and colleagues (2010) accounted for the estimated cost of delivering
case management services to underserved populations. The authors found that the cost of the
telemedicine equipment and supplies for the clinical team, for the first four years of the study totaled
over $100,000 (Palmas, et al., 2010). This does not take into account salaries, the costs of the
bioinformatics team, and vendor costs associated with the project, which total into the millions. The
higher costs are associated with the level of technology required. Palmas, et al., utilized a telemedicine
system (IDEATel) that, according to Shea (2007), combines video conferencing, access to the
American Diabetes Association portal, remote glucose and blood pressure monitoring, and patient
access to their own clinical data and a secure messaging service. Similar to start up

Differences Of American Identity
The identity of a nation is a summation of all its citizen s. An identity cannot be determined by
political leaders, but rather is a reflection of how leaders are able to create unity within all people.
American identity reflects what it means to be American; the positive and negative, and everything in
between. Throughout the course of United States history, Americans have constantly held a unique
identity in political, social, economic, and cultural affairs. This identity however is dramatically
affected by these affairs and can be altered as time and history progress. Nowhere in history does
American identity remain stagnant; some changes are more drastic than others. One of the most
radical contrasts in American identity seen throughout history is the difference between the nationalist,
patriot identity seen among Americans upon independence from the crown in 1783; and the
controversial division seen within the nation following the Compromise of 1877. The United States
went from being a young, and hungry powerhouse, to a nation at war with itself all as a result of
national identity.
In a political sense, it is very clear as to why the nation under went such a radical change in national
identity. Following freedom from Great Britain, American s had a strong sense of motivation and
hunger to create a political system that treated its citizens fairly, unlike the crown. American s were
proud of their new national identity, and that they no longer had to identify under the

These ideas are the main reason on Marx s conclusion on man s nature, which is incredibly important
to understand the theory of the individual. Man s nature is not abstract; a characteristic of a certain
individual. Actually it is the totally of all the social relations (Marx). In this quote the idea of man s
nature that Marx has represents a revolutionary reconstruction that would have to happen in the world
and the importance of education in the individual.
Marx s studies the theory of the individual and mainly focus in three areas, which are the complete
development of the individual, the problems of alienation and freedom.
Labour for the worker is something external not belonging to his nature...in his labour he does not
affirm himself, but denies himself, feels not happy, but unhappy, does not develop freely his physical
and spiritual energy but wears out his physical nature and destroys his spiritual force. This is why the
worker feels that he is himself only outside of working hours in the process of labour he feels he is
estranged from himself. He is himself when he is not working, and when he works he is already not
himself. (Marx)
Marx explains the idea in how the labor workers do not own they own work. Therefore, alienation is a
product from labor and it is used between capitalist societies to alienate the product of a man s labor
and his social nature. The bourgeois society will take the

Creativity In Clarinet
Creativity. What does that word make you think of? A person, place, object, a feeling? Do you think of
a sunset or fashion designers or artists? Creativity is such a broad concept that it s different for
everyone. If you put one hundred people in a room and told them to write down the first thing they
thought of when they heard the word creativity I bet no two people would have the exact same answer.
For me creativity is brought to me in my clarinet, and the way it was created as well as the music it
produces. When you first see a clarinet you probably think nothing about it, but when you really think
about it you can see the beauty in it. When you examine it closer you can really see how impressive it
is how all the parts and pieces fit together. You can see how the dark, beautiful wood of the clarinet
pairs with the shiny silver of the keys. Craftsmanship is shown in the way the reeds are made. It takes
precision and skill to get the reed as thin as it is and still be able to help produce the wonderful sound
of the clarinet. The best way to witness the creativity of a clarinet is to listen to the melodic noises it
makes. It s not noticeable in an orchestra of instruments, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

I Am Responding To Question Number 2. “Retirement Is The
I am responding to question number 2. Retirement is the period of life, usually starting between age 60
and 65, during which an individual stops working in the paid labor force. (Lecture slides) According
to our text, the concept of retirement is a relatively recent phenomenon in Western society. (Hooyman,
Kawamoto, Kiyak. Aging Matters: An Introduction to Social Gerontology) People used to work until
they died, but people also used to die much earlier in their lives, so that could partly explain why that
was the case. Retirement also used to be mandatory at age 65 for most jobs, but people usually retired

It is based on how much you paid into through taxes and not by your income. Social Security is the
major source of income for about 66% of older beneficiaries. For about 24% of beneficiaries it
provides 90% or more of their yearly income. (Study Guide) This is alarming because the average
yearly Social Security benefit in 2013 was about $14,144 a year or about $1179 per month. (Study
Guide) This might be a little hard to live comfortably from. Another form of incentive was pensions
and health insurance sponsered by employers. Pensions are usually offered in white collar jobs. These
are usually based on your earnings, unlike Social Security. The baby boomer generation wasn t very
lucky with how their hopes for retirement would be ruined. The baby boomer generation thought they
would have enough economic resources when they reached retirement, and they thought if they did
work in retirement, it wouldn t be because they had to. This is not the case for the baby boomers due
to global economic downturn and the recession. Instead, they are more likely to put off retirement got
financial reasons. In a 2011 survey, 25 percent of the respondents said they will need to work until at

Themes Of The Absolute True Diary Of A Part Time Indian
Alexie Sherman s The Absolute True Diary of a Part Time Indian tells a very interesting story about a
boy named Junior, who throughout the entire novel, is trying to gain the acceptance of those around
him while telling a story about Native Americans as a whole. There is a very comical tone that is very
consistent throughout the entire novel that makes it seem much more personal, and allows to reader to
relate to junior and understand his situation. This coming of age story brings about many themes and
main ideas that are related to Native Americans of past and present. Themes such as imprisonment,
overall acceptance, poverty, education, stereotypes, and race. This novel is initially set on a Spokane
Reservation located in Wellpinit Washington. The Spokane tribe used to span over three million acres
of land along the Spokane river and retained a rich culture ( United States History ). The tribe was
separated into three bands: The upper, middle, and lower Spokane, which are now joined in one single
tribal group ( About Spokane Tribe ). It was not until 1881 that President Rutherford B. Hays allocated
a smaller reservation of land for the tribe. Approximately 150,000 acres of land was given to the

Racial Disparities In America Essay
Introduction In today s society people are hurting and they are struggling to survive. The federal
minimum wage is $7.25, while each state within the United States provides its own minimum wage.
Low wages equals no healthcare, which in turn equal s to individuals being sick and not being able to
receive the help they need. Low wages also equals mass incarceration which in turn equals to high
crime. The high crime usually involves low income neighborhoods, which in more than one way
effects minorities.
The system has also privatized the school and prison system, which go hand in hand with the
economic reality of today. The racial disparities of today, was triggered by the downfall of the
economic system that is in place right now. Families are struggling and individuals are looking for a
way out. This paper will identify the realities African Americans face with the issue of economic
justice along in the United States.

  • 2. Life And Death Of John Fitzgerald Kennedy Essay Life to Death of John Fitzgerald Kennedy Hailee Barnwell Central High School Abstract John F. Kennedy lived a very hard, but famous life. In his life he batted many deaths and illnesses. He was in the navy, in congress, the Senate of the United States, and the 35th President. Even though most people think Mr. Kennedy lived a very easy and flowing life, they are all wrong. He struggled through life, but never let its show through to many people. While he struggled through all of his illnesses and witnessed so many dying he still made everyone think his life was perfect. You will soon find out everything was not so great for Mr. Kennedy. Life to Death of John Fitzgerald Kennedy Early Life Mr. Kennedy was born into a family that was rich and famous, and he had eight siblings. His family was on the fortunate side with his family being on the top of everything. He went through an elite private school, and through the Great Depression Mr. Kennedy s family did not struggle because of their money. Mr. Kennedy only remembers reading about the Great Depression in many different books at Harvard (Department, 2013) Sicknesses Everyone thinks his life was great, but the ugly side of his life was because of his chronic bouts of illness. He experienced Addison s disease, Osteoporosis, a bad back, which led to him taking constant pain relievers and steroids, progressive anemia, and also low blood pressure (Kelly, 2013). • 3. What Is The Moral Of Plato s Apology Plato s Apology, is by far one of the most logical yet critical thinking text that I have ever read. Plato describes Socrates, the accused atheist and corrupter of youth in ancient Athens, as a true beacon of ethics and morality. The method that Plato uses to depict Socrates on trial gives us a look back on how the trial of a man who encourages one of sound mind to ask questions even to those who are deemed wise in the eyes of others. Despite facing odds that are stacked highly against him, and this being his first time in court For I am more than seventy years of age, and this is the first time that I have ever appeared in a court of law, and I am quite a stranger to the ways of the place; and therefore I would have you regard me as if I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Continuing with his defense Socrates addresses one of his accusers Meletus in accordance to the accusation that he is a corrupter of youth.. He asks a series of questions to Meletus which he answers yes to all. But it Socrates last question that shows his true motive for all the questions, Then every Athenian improves and elevates them; all with the exception of myself; and I alone am their corrupter? Is that what you affirm? (Plato) Meletus replies That is what I stoutly affirm. (Plato) Socrates response to this just add another mark for his cleverness I am very unfortunate if that is true. ... Happy indeed would be the condition of youth if they had one corrupter only, and all the rest of the world were their improvers. (Plato) By asking these questions to Meletus, Socrates exposes Meletus answers as counterintuitive: For if they were true then the society of Athens would be a much better place with little to no corruption. Socrates reveals it is those who are accusing the innocent of being corrupt that are themselves corrupt. Even though Socrates ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Smart Enough Women In part I of the psychology in media project I reviewed the article Why Young Girls Don t Think They are Smart Enough written by Sarah Jane Leslie and Andrei Cimpain. The authors of this article explored the psychological research they conducted along with Lin Bian which is aimed at discovering the underlying cause for the disparities between men and women across academic disciplines. In the media article published in the New York Times the authors concluded that stereotypes are mainly to blame for these disparities. They also noted that these social stereotypes start affecting girls as young as the age of six, and that the shift in thought is drastic. In a more formal report which they published in Science Magazine, through a set of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The writers do also state alternatives for the results of studies one to four, among them that boys are held back which may inflate confidence and women s modesty norms. They also give reason for why these alternatives are not possible. The writers omit writing about the alternatives all together in the media article. All in all, I believe that both works are very well written informative pieces. Both are concise, easy to read, and very get to the point. The main difference is that the media article pushes a call to action by stating suggesting methods in which we can change how this brilliance=males stereotype is affecting young girls. This is definitely an understandable difference due to the fact that the media article is directed towards the general public, while the science journal is mostly directed towards the scientific community. I believe that the writers did a fantastic job in the NY times article, however I believe that the article would have benefitted from using more real life anecdotes to show the extent to which this brilliance=males stereotype can affect women. However, in the article The Diner, Bill Trub represents a dinner experience which is a little weird to readers. The I returns home and has his dinner in a small restaurant. During the meal, he sees diners who he cannot recognize behave in a strange manner. For example, a bearded lady yawns. She s eating meatloaf and mash without a knife or fork. Her name is Rachel, Denise or Chuck. The town is filled with such people with such three uncertain names. According to a baby grandfather s words, they are all waiting for and welcoming I , whose name is Bill, Bill, or Bill here, to get back home. In my eyes, the people there are like savages or walking bodies. Their identities are unclear and they cannot be recognized by others, while they act as if they are numb, lacking the ability of thinking. The fiction is like an exaggerated model of the real world where people are in a tendency to be objectified, and I would like to share my opinions on why it happens and what it will lead to. Nowadays, money is taking a significant part of people s life. To get money, lots of people objectify others as if they are tools instead of human beings, and ignore their basic physical and mental needs. Meanwhile, during the process, they are objectifying themselves also, for they almost become machines designed for making money. But what is it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Rational In Candide Conflict Between the Rational and the Actual In Candide, Voltaire elicits the conflicts between the rational and the actual by providing a sarcastic distortion of optimism. Voltaire uses Pangloss and a foil character, Martin, to ridicule the literal meaning in Leibniz s philosophy that everything is for the best . Voltaire supports the idea that optimism restrains characters, such as Pangloss, from making logical choices of the world around them and from taking other stances to prevent unfavorable situations. However, instead of mocking the idea of optimism and trying to instill becoming far more realistic to get out of situations such as those that Pangloss went through , the underground man decides to remain motionless. The Underground Man s hyperconsciousness leads him to thinks that there are too many causes and that one cannot act on primary causes. He believed that an intelligent man cannot become anything seriously and it is only the fool who becomes anything (Dostoevsky 11). Because of so many primary causes the Underground man could not make up his mind and make one decision, so his hyperconsciousness led to conscious inertia where instead he was sitting with the hands folded [doing nothing] (Dostoevsky 10). Voltaire supports a more pessimistic point of view where instead of letting a man die because God meant for it to be that way, to act more realistic. It s not that Dr. Don no longer cares; It s that he no longer feels the need to, or has the will to, express emotions toward the situation. This can pose a lot of issues in the long run. As her symptoms worsened her friend thought it was necessary to call the emergency services and after explaining Mrs X s symptoms an ambulance arrived within 15minutes. Mrs X was quickly escorted to the local accident and emergency department where she was immediately assessed. A number of tests were carried out including an electrocardiogram to show how the stroke was caused, a CT scan to determine what type of stroke Mrs X had and a swallowing test was carried out by speech and language therapy to assess whether or not she could swallow properly, if not this would create a risk that food may get into the lungs, causing the patient to aspirate which may lead to severe chest infection or pneumonia. • 30. The Overuse Of Antibiotics And Antibiotics The overuse of antibiotics has been a problem for well over a decade. This misuse leads to many nonvisible problems arising within the human population. As the use of antibiotics increases, the number of antibiotic resistant bacteria also increases. When bacteria become resistant to an antibiotic, another antibiotic must be used to try and kill it and the cycle becomes vicious. Michael Martin, Sapna Thottathil, and Thomas Newman stated that antimicrobial resistance is, an increasingly serious threat to global public health that requires action across all government sectors and society (2409). Take for example MRSA (Methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus), a S. aureus strain that was discovered in 1961 to be resistant to the antibiotic methicillin. Webmd indicates that MRSA has now grown its resistance from methicillin to amoxicillin, penicillin, oxacillin and many other common antibiotics (MRSA). This increase in resistance of a methicillin resistant strain of S. aureus can be attributed to the increasing use and overuse of antibiotics, not only in the doctor s office but also in agriculture. MRSA is only one of many antibiotic resistant strains of bacteria. New resistant strains are evolving rapidly. According to Dr. Ed Warren, there are high levels of antibiotic resistance in bacteria causing common infections (e.g. urinary tract infections, pneumonia, bloodstream infections) in all regions of the world (21). In agriculture, overuse begins with nontherapeutic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. Drinking Age Persuasive Essay When picturing college, people should think about huge classrooms, hard professors, and a better learning experience than they have ever received before. In reality, two things come to everyone s mind before anything else: partying every night and binge drinking. The United States has some of the highest rates of underage drinking and hospitalizations due to alcohol poisoning. In Barrett Seaman s article, How Bingeing Became the New College Sport, Seaman argues that continually adding more restrictions to the drinking law could be making the issue worse or maybe causing the entire problem. By focusing on college binge drinking, Seaman convinces his readers that instead of twenty one, the US should lower the drinking age to promote appropriate drinking habits. The drinking age set at eighteen was not originally an issue. In the late 60s, the voting age was changed to eighteen; privacy laws were enacted; and the drinking age, depending on each states decision, was lowered to eighteen as the new age that legally defined adulthood (Seaman 1 2). Then in 1984, Congress was influenced by Mothers Against Drunk Driving to pass a law that combined compliance of the states with federal aid highway funds in exchange for the members support; forcing the states to raise the drinking age to twenty one. There is no doubt that the law, which achieved full 50 state compliance in 1988, saved lives, but it had the unintended consequence of creating a covert culture around alcohol as the ... New York s iconic World Trade Center fell victim to hijacked commercial airlines filled with innocent people. In 102 minutes, the world was forever changed by one of the worst attacks the United States has ever experienced. Many factors made the terrorist attacks of September 11th a day that is permanently etched into the hearts and minds of Americans. Nineteen radicals linked to the Islamic terrorist group al Qaeda gained control over four airplanes and carried out attacks against targets in the United States on 9/11. (History.com Authors) Their leader, Osama Bin Laden, and his followers viciously opposed the United States. In al Qaeda s opinion, the United States was an infidel because it was not governed in a manner consistent with the group s extremist interpretation of Islam. Other characteristics of America aggravated the extremist group as well, including our foreign policy and supporting enemies of al Qaeda. Because of his hatred of America, Bin Laden declared a Jihad, or holy war, against the United States, which he has carried out through al Qaeda and its affiliated organizations. (Smith) As a result, the United States faced many violent attacks with the group, including the bombing in 1993 that took place before the attacks on September 11th. • 33. Essay on Economic Impact of Telehealth Economic Impact The economic impact of telehealth is a critical factor to examine when looking at the feasibility of incorporating such technologies into practice. Exploration of economics is also essential as it has been posited that telehealth has the potential to deliver care to individuals that is cost saving in nature (Wade, Karnon, Elshaug, Hiller, 2010). Furthermore, the estimated expenditure on telehealth services and technology is expected to reach into the billions of dollars (Berger, 2010). Fixted costs totaled approximately $11,995 per year for the development and implementation of a purpose written email based telemedicine system. In another study, Palmas and colleagues (2010) accounted for the estimated cost of delivering case management services to underserved populations. The authors found that the cost of the telemedicine equipment and supplies for the clinical team, for the first four years of the study totaled over $100,000 (Palmas, et al., 2010). This does not take into account salaries, the costs of the bioinformatics team, and vendor costs associated with the project, which total into the millions. The higher costs are associated with the level of technology required. • 34. Differences Of American Identity The identity of a nation is a summation of all its citizen s. An identity cannot be determined by political leaders, but rather is a reflection of how leaders are able to create unity within all people. American identity reflects what it means to be American; the positive and negative, and everything in between. Throughout the course of United States history, Americans have constantly held a unique identity in political, social, economic, and cultural affairs. This identity however is dramatically affected by these affairs and can be altered as time and history progress. Nowhere in history does American identity remain stagnant; some changes are more drastic than others. One of the most radical contrasts in American identity seen throughout history is the difference between the nationalist, patriot identity seen among Americans upon independence from the crown in 1783; and the controversial division seen within the nation following the Compromise of 1877. The United States went from being a young, and hungry powerhouse, to a nation at war with itself all as a result of national identity. In a political sense, it is very clear as to why the nation under went such a radical change in national identity. Creativity is such a broad concept that it s different for everyone. If you put one hundred people in a room and told them to write down the first thing they thought of when they heard the word creativity I bet no two people would have the exact same answer. For me creativity is brought to me in my clarinet, and the way it was created as well as the music it produces. When you first see a clarinet you probably think nothing about it, but when you really think about it you can see the beauty in it. When you examine it closer you can really see how impressive it is how all the parts and pieces fit together. You can see how the dark, beautiful wood of the clarinet pairs with the shiny silver of the keys. Craftsmanship is shown in the way the reeds are made. Retirement is the period of life, usually starting between age 60 and 65, during which an individual stops working in the paid labor force.
