The Pros And Cons Of Information Leakage
1.0 INTRODUCTION A simple way to understand the term Information Leakage or News Leakage is
the confidential information that is published to the media without any authorization. In other words,
Information or News Leakage could also be an incomplete publication which the information is only
to be published on the given date. This action is totally prohibited in the news industry. Who is
involved in Information or News Leakage? Of course, it is done by the employees of news companies.
They are the ones who have the access to the information but do not have the power to disclose it to
the media. However, in most situations, information leakage is also often done by the journalists
themselves. Reasons being, they might think that leaking an information before it should be ... Show

As stated by NOW Malaysia, in 2015, Malaysia fell two ranks to 54 because of perceived political
interference in the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission s probe into the RM2.6 billion that flowed
into Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak s personal accounts. If Putrajaya increases stiffer
penalties for divulging information, this could bring it further down in the index, said Akhbar, as the
CPI also measured how governments treated access to information and whistle blowers. As stated by
The Straits Times, Datuk Seri Zahid said he was not ruling out the possibility that Esscom which is

Stars By Richard Dyer Summary And Analysis
Stars are the faces we see and admire on television. We as a society see stars and immediately want to
experience what they experience and we want to understand them. We see stars as superficial beings.
We see the roles they play in movies and television and only the major things that producers want us
to see. Richard Dyer, film critic and author of Stars asserts that stars are constructed to an audience so
they can relate to them and easily identify with them.We connect to the star based on a feature that we
admire or share. This development from an admiration to an idolization pushes an attempt to replicate
what society admires in the star. This can either be a positive role or negative role. For example, for
someone who admires Leonardo DiCaprio, they might want to donate to his foundation supporting the
economy and climate change. While others may idolize and want to behave like Lindsay Lohan and
experiment with drugs. This skews what teenagers and kids see as cool . Many of the reasons why
young women want to appear thin is because of the stars we see on television. Many female stars have
an hourglass shape to them, large breasts, flat stomach, and wide hips. If one were to google the
perfect body, studies about how we view the perfect body arise, as well as an article about the perfect
Kardashian body and how to get one are the first links that appear. Richard Dyer presents an idea in
his book Stars that examines the social types of stars. He analyzes their indigenous role in how society
functions through the history of film production. Dyer describes the characteristics of stardom as
ordinariness, success, love, and consumption. Ordinariness is sought for in the eyes of stars because
that is necessary to relate to the public. If society viewed stars as another species or not human, no one
would have the desire to be a star and they would become unrelatable. High school students have been
utilizing the idea of #relatable or #me for years because generally, people have the aspiration to relate
to others. Neil Patrick Harris got married three years ago to David Burtka, and three years later he
made a post expressing his joy and gratitude that he was able to marry the love of his life. The

Lifeguard and Victim
Chapter 5
Rescue Skills
A lifeguard must always be prepared to enter the water to make rescues. After determining that the
victim needs help, the lifeguard should assess the victim s condition and use an appropriate rescue.
The skills in this chapter can be used in most aquatic environments, although they may have to be
modified in some situations.

The slide in entry is slower than other entries, but it is the safest entry to use in most conditions (Fig. 5

injury is close to the side of the pool or pier. To perform a slide in entry, the lifeguard should
1. Sit down on the edge of the pool deck or pier, facing the water. Place the rescue tube on the surface
of the pool deck or pier or in the water.

Reason For European Imperialism
Imperialism, a policy in which one country seeks authority over another country by economic and
political domination. The Europeans at this time in history, were looking for resources and something
to help them show their national pride; the best way to do that was to imperialize different countries.
Africa, which was not industrialized, was seen as not capable to lead themselves into modernization.
The europeans as well as many other countries began to seek land in the divided, war filled country.
The reasons for europeans seeking imperialism is because of the strive for natural resources, the need
to show national pride, and thoughts upon racism.
In imperialism, natural resources where a large driving cause to the spread of authority all ... Show

An empire such as Britain requires an imperial race (Primrose). People from all over saw how
different people and cultures came from all over the world which create hate and a variety of
disapproval for others. African people were seen as hated, uncivilized people only because, they had
so many different cultures and different ways of living. If Africa was to be industrialized before other
countries came it would have been seen as a land that is respected because the people who live in it
are capable of industrialization. But because the land was not industrialized before imperialism racism
became a strong attacking point upon the uncivilized. France went with a fully developed race into
territories marked by barbarism and people who cannot develop their own land (Merlin). France in
this description sees themselves as superior to the Africans because, they do not have fighting within
their country and they are industrialized. Without their ability to come together as a country and grow
an economy France would be another Africa. Racism drove France to come to Africa and show their
superiority over them. Racism was a large reason for imperialism.
Africa was a resource rich, divided, different country. Every country that took a part in Africa s
imperialism saw this matter and took advantage. If Africa had time to figure out how to develop an
economy, unify with each other, and industrialize itself; imperialism from other countries would

Memento Film Techniques
When it comes to symbols throughout this movie, they are not hidden where you have to think about
it. These motifs are easily present and up front an personal when the film was screened. The first motif
was obvious and of course the main sought out object of the entire film and that was the Enigma
machine. This machine was said to be the unbreakable message translator that would be all the
leverage needed for Germany to have the victory at the end of the tunnel. The Enigma machine was
easy to understand but extremely difficult to break, especially when you only had 24 hours to break
that days worth of codes and then after all the work would change for a new day of code breaking. The
second motif would be Turing s machine named Christopher. ... Show more content on

For example, when the commander has the whole crew besides Joan in a room in a circle talking about
ideas to break the Enigma machine, this scene tells you a lot more than what it actually is. First it
introduces the whole crew and it gives a preview on how they plan on getting along while being able
to see the emotions and expressions of each character. I believe after you watch this for a second time
it gives it away that Cairncross is up to something by the expression he gives in the scene. The feeling
of this scene is gloomy by the non existence of light, you can see the shadows off of the characters
faces which to me gives another insight that the machine in the middle of the table and the big secret
with in the crew are the things that are making it possible for Germany to win the war. The second
example is when the families were seeking safety in the bomb shelter from the Germans the lights
were swaying but some of the lighting didn t move. In this scene you can see in the top right corner
that their is light added because the light comes in at an angle unlike the other lights shown in the
shelter. Lastly, was when Turing was turning Joan down and telling her that she was only close to him
to help break Enigma, and now she can leave him alone. This lead to Joan slapping Turing, which is
where the feeling and overall shot portrays. After the slap you can see the slapped side of Turing s face
and their was no marks or indications of a confrontation. Even the aftermath of Turing expression didn
t show any evidence that he was

The Importance Of Religion In Night By Elie Wiesel
Most people around the world are in pursuit of a religion that reflects one s personal interests,
qualities, and beliefs. As a Holocaust victim, Elie Wiesel has a first hand experience with the overall
cruelty that Jews become accustomed to in these times of torture. Within the second World War were
additional wars inside the minds of innocent people, or internal conflicts. God is an entity that is
positioned in the hearts of the enslaved; however, when put in distress, one s faith in God slowly
begins to repress. In Elie Wiesel s memoir, Night, the significance of the loss in faith of God can
likewise be perceived as the loss of identity. Wiesel reveals how during this time of pure hatred
towards his religion, he becomes unfocused on who he used to be, and strays from his true self.
Religion has been the motive of most wars throughout history, and often this external conflict leads
the oppressed to internal conflict. As seen through Elie, one can see how this internal conflict or loss
of faith alters personal identity. Elie has difficulty in understanding inhumanity and oppression
surrounding him at this early stage in his life. Elie is beginning to distinguish between what is
legitimate and what is fabricated in terms of the war; for instance, the truth about where they are being
taken and what the Almighty are doing about the Nazi s actions. Walking through Auschwitz,
observing the crematoria, and the hundreds of innocent people walking into their death unknowingly.

Criticism In Mariette Lippo s Confirmation Names
In Confirmation Names, Mariette Lippo describes a group of girls choosing their patron saints.
Through the use of irony and syntax, the author scorns the Catholic Church s treatment towards
adolescent girls and the standards they are held under. However, when using a feminist criticism,
Lippo s disdain turns into anger towards society, not just the Catholic faith alone. When under an
archetypal criticism, the piece focuses more on the religious stereotypes of the harsh, reserved nun and
the classic rebellious Catholic schoolgirls, and thus provokes a sense of pity for the girls and an
automatic cringe worthy distaste for the nuns. Both the close reading and literary criticisms produce
new tones and shed different lights on the conflicting aspects of Confirmation Names. Initially,
Confirmation Names explains the process behind confirmation names for young Catholic girls.
However, through the use of language and literary devices, Lippo clearly presents a defiant tone
towards the way young girls are restricted in the Catholic faith. Lippo strategically addresses each
young girl in a new paragraph, reflecting Catholic nuns tones toward each young girl s vice. However,
though Lippo introduces the nuns sentiments in her piece, she also provides a sense of defiant
solidarity for the young girls by using the inclusive words we and us when interjecting herself into the
narration We studied the saints... (Lippo 1), and None of us, of course, chose Magdalen... (Lippo

The Moral Code Of Social And Individual Rights And...
Post conventional morality is consisting of social and individual rights and universal principles. This
stage of morality brings a hedonistic view of self and other as well as pure justice. Where am I truly
standing on? Utilitarian? Kantian? Or in between of both? Previous ethics papers have put me into
thinking who I really am and where I truly stand in moral code. I have dug my deepest self and
explored types of ideas and beliefs that I embraced. Thus, before I had actually thought about what I
truly care and role I want to play in this society, I believed that I was utilitarian. Although, being
utilitarian and my decisions did not exactly matched. The nurture part of the life have shaped my
moral code in more complicated form. Therefore, the conclusion that I have come up with my moral
code is heavily influenced by Immanuel Kant, Buddhism, and my personal religion: Spiritualistic
Agnostic. First, as growing up I was told to not to harm others physical and psychological states. Kant
also believes in the idea that not to use anyone for a means to an end. As I make post conventional
moral decision, I found myself leaning more onto Kantian ethics of not to use someone for a means to
an end and the golden mean. Basically, decisions I make in society reduce and/or no harm applied
onto others while doing things in moderate pace or amount. Kant believed that by having moral
personality we are superior among other species. Psychologically speaking, intelligence can be
enhanced

Case Study The Wilma
Per your request I have analyzed how to properly account for The Wilma. As of January 15, 2015 The
Wilma is impaired and needs to recognize an impairment loss in the amount of $2,331,823.20.
The Wilma has changed in use and condition therefore it needs to be reviewed for impairment. GAAP
requires assets to be investigated for impairment, only when certain events or changes occur that may
cause an asset to not be recoverable. (b) A significant change in the use of the asset and its physical
condition. The Wilma originally manufactured high tech aquatic gear and was then converted into a
commercial warehouse to lease out; thus changing its physical condition and the way it is being used.

Holding expects that The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To be not recoverable the carrying amount has to be larger than the sum of the expected undiscounted
cash flows and disposition of the asset. As of January 1, 2015 The Wilma has a carrying cost of
$4,875,000 (cost of $6,500,000 minus 10 year depreciation of 1,625,000). The lease for 2015 2024
will generate an undiscounted cash flow of $2,400,000. With the over abundance of commercial
warehouse space The Wilma only has a 50% chance of renewing the lease for another 10 years (2025
2034). Therefore the total undiscounted cash flow would be $3,600,000. The carrying cost of The
Wilma is larger than the undiscounted cash flow calculated, making the carrying amount of The
Wilma not recoverable. The impairment loss will be the amount that the carrying amount exceeds the
fair value by. The discounted fair value of The Wilma is $2,543,176.80; therefore the impairment loss
to be recognized is $2,331,823.20 (carrying amount of $4,875,000 minus the fair value of
$2,543,176.80) (FASB, 2015, ASC para.

CBS Corporation is one of the largest mass media corporations in United States. The business of this
corporation covers from commercial broadcasting, publishing to television production. Most of CBS
holdings are located within United States, but CBS also have overseas holdings for international
media business. Today s CBS Corporation actually has experienced a series of acquisitions as well as
split off and it has a complicated history. The predecessor of CBS Corporation is Westinghouse

CBS Corporation has adopted such strategies in the television programs. For example, many movies
which are broadcasted on CBS channels are produced by Paramount, a movie production company
owned by Viacom. In this example, CBS TV channels is the way to distribute media content while
Paramount is the way to produce such content. The vertical integration is a useful method of
advertising the company and impacting social relations. The culture of the company is distributed to
people who value the company, such as subscribers of CBS channels. Horizontal integration is the
integration across the media landscape. This integration is obvious in such a giant media
conglomerate. CBS Corporation covers the field of radio, publishing, television and online properties.
In this way, some important materials can be widely broadcast and learned by many customers.
One thing I found interesting is that CBS once produced many classic movies, such as Roman
Holidays. This movie is actually produced by CBS Film Inc, which is the former Viacom. Later, as we
know, Viacom owns some excellent movie production companies such as Paramount. The movie
producing positioning of Viacom decided its company strategy to move forward in movie industry.
And this advantage in movie production assists the CBS Corporation to develop in the movie industry
before the split in 2005. It is so interesting

Armed Police Uniforms
Armed police officers create discrimination?
Do you think police officers should be armed if their job is to protect schools? Many will argue yes
because of safety reasons, but what if that leads to bigger problems? This has been a debate for years
and has caused to create many rules that have or have not worked. For example the Gun Free schools
Act or the zero tolerance policies. Although it protects students and can create a safe and secure
environment, police officers in schools should not be armed because it can create discrimination,
officers will feel with more power and authority, and take away student s education.
However, many might think police officers should be armed in case of an emergency. There has been
many incidents where shootings occurs at schools and the police officer s job is to protect themselves
and the lives of students and staff at any cost. You can argue this to be a good reason to allow police
officers to carry weapons. They feel they should be armed for protection, but many police officers take
advantage of that and feel they have the power to do anything, even to break a law. It is not right for
police officers to think they can break laws because everyone is equal and having armed police
officers will damage students in other ways.
Police officers do contribute to an environment of discrimination. Immigration has been a big problem
in our society because people like Donald Trump, for example, think immigrants got here to destroy
the country.

The Principles of Marketing
Principles of Marketing: Marketing basically involves a series of processes that focus on determining
customers wants and then providing the necessary product to them. This process can also be regarded
as the procedure of developing and implementing initiatives that are geared toward identifying,
expecting, and satisfying the wants and demands of customers in a way that also generates profits.
Marketing not only contains several important principles but it also consists of four major elements
that are commonly known as the 4P s. The four main elements of marketing that are also known as the
marketing mix are product, pricing, promotion, and place. Through the marketing process, the major
goal of all marketers is to establish more value for customers. In order to create such value to
customers, there is need for managers to understand the marketing principles that are crucial for
effective marketing strategies and practices.
Creation of Customer Value: The leading and best marketers across the globe have a major thing in
common i.e. they have focused on the customer as the heart of their marketing strategies and practices.
The modern marketing process basically revolves around the development of customer value and
profitable relationships with customers. This process begins with the identification and understanding
of the needs and wants of customers, detecting the organization s most suitable target markets, and

The Failure to Cope
J.D. Salinger drops the reader into the middle of his stories. Without any sense of characters, setting,
or plot, the reader is thrown into the lives of others as they scramble to unearth the truth behind the
scenes. Salinger provides complex stories of relatable characters; some are stories of happiness and
others are of loss and dysfunction. Often times, the characters have difficulties dealing with the harsh
realities of their lives and have to look towards alternate means of coping. Society fosters an overly
structured environment with little room for atypical relationships, ideals, and behaviors. Anything that
is outside of the normal is immediately written off and labeled as deviant behavior, something that is
often frowned upon in this day and age. The characters in Nine Stories by J.D. Salinger use various
coping mechanisms to escape the reality that societal norms and traditionalism present. Seymour
Glass of A Perfect Day for Bananafish is a twisted character who, having returned from the traumas of
war, has a hard time fitting back into a routine of normalcy. His partner, Muriel, is more interested in
the material things that surround her than she is with her lover. When Seymour cannot find the
partnership that he needs with Muriel, he is forced to switch to an alternate source of companionship.
He meets a young girl named Sybil on the beach, and quickly bonds with her.

Essay on Cultural Universals Between United States and China
According to the Merriam Webster dictionary, the definition of culture is the customary beliefs, social
forms, and material traits of a racial, religious, or social group . Every country has its specific culture
and there are some obvious cultural universals between China and America. One example of such
cultural universal is the directness of American versus the humbleness of the Chinese people. Another
example would be the self independence of the young Americans versus the young Chinese who tend
to depend on their parents. What I would like to cover are the holidays observed by United States and
China, roles played in the family by husband and wife, parenting styles and conflict management.

The Pros And Cons Of The NFLAs A Monopoly
The NFL is Definitely a Monopoly Although the NFL won t admit to it, the National Football League
is most definitely a monopoly. In order to become a monopoly, you have to take control of the market
are in, in this case, it is football. Monopolies are characterized by high barriers to entry, and almost
zero competition, and great amounts of power. Monopolies are commodity controlled by one party, in
this case, the commodity is football and the party is the NFL.
Available Competition and Suitable Substitutes The National Football League is the highest level of
professional American football in the United States and to most; it is considered the top professional
football league in the world. In order to become a monopoly, you have to take control of the market
you re in. The NFL was created in the early 1900 s. In 1920 the APFL was created when
representatives from many leagues and teams came together. The APFA originally had 11 teams when
they merged with NFL they currently have 32 teams (Tuchner, 2012). The National Football League is
now the most attended domestic sports league in the world. Since completion to the NFL is at a
minimum some substitutes are two similar monopolies, the NBA and MLB. But the NFL still is the
most powerful out of all of them. (The NFL, 2013)
The NFL S Power When it comes to monopolies you need to have a great amount of power. The NFL
uses its power in many ways one way is how they treat the players. In the draft system, a player has to

Jazz Essay
Jazz
John F. Szwed resides in Connecticut, and he is currently a professor of anthropology, African
American studies, music, and American studies at Yale University. He has written seven books on
music and African American culture and numerous articles and reviews on similar subjects. Szwed has
received honors including a Guggenheim Fellowship and a Rockefeller Foundation Humanities

Knowledge of jazz has fallen far behind its development. Most people do not know the facts on jazz,
only some generalities and stereotypes. Often being called America s only original art form, jazz
began as an ethnic music, but there is much more to jazz than music. It is difficult to think of jazz

The musicians have to be incredibly creative to do this, but it is kind of unrealistic. They are expected
to sound different from other musicians and from themselves each time they perform. Another form is
composition, which is when they play music they have already written. Arranging is when the
musicians make a plan that they agree to play by beforehand. This is supposed to give shape to their
performance. Out of these three forms, the jazz musicians usually choose improvisation over the
others.
When listening to jazz, people hear it different ways. Some people like the physical level and others
use more intellect. Many keep score, make lists of names, and guess the outcomes of the music.
People listen to recordings or attend live performances. Listening to recordings is not even close to
being at a performance. Recordings are usually only a few minutes long, but performances can last an
hour or longer. There has to be an interaction between the performers and the audience to get the full
effect of jazz. Jazz was performed wherever there was space and demand. The music first came about
and still is popular in nightclubs. Small clubs were the places where jazz musicians came to maturity.
Clubs in New York City were the center of jazz activity. Although New York City was a main location
of jazz, New Orleans has more recognition

Observation of Moon’s Phases Essay
The moon is by far the biggest and most easily recognizable object in earth s atmosphere that can be
perceived by the naked eye on a cloudless night. It is hypothesized that it came into existence nearly
4.5 billion years ago, from residual debris after a planetary body collided with earth. Although,
considered the runner up to the sun as the second brightest object in the sky, its illumination is
deceitful, insomuch as the moon is not a source of light, but instead reflects the sun s illumination
from the half of the moon that is in direct alignment with the sun at that time. More readily identified
as a satellite of the earth rather than as a planet itself or even a star, it has a diameter a quarter of the
size of earth s size and it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the full moon phase the side of the moon that can be observed from earth becomes illuminated by
the sun n its entirety. Lastly, the aforementioned illuminated portion begins to shrink or wane and thus
the moon is considered to be in the waning gibbous phase, meaning that the illuminated portion is
constricts in size or diameter every day. Astrological calendars have been in existence since ancient
times where time was measured according to the number of Moons that had passed in a certain period,
or in consonance with the shadows that were cast by either the Sun or Moon. Solar years are
calculated based on the sun s motions, whereas lunar years are mutually based on the moons motions.
A lunar year consists of approximately 354 days, whereas there are 365 days in solar year. By virtue of
the eleven day disparity between a solar and lunar year, an additional month is added to the lunar
calendar every three years, and as for the solar calendar, every fourth year, a leap day is added to the
month of February. A lunar year is comprised of twelve lunar months, which corresponds to the time
that elapses as the moon carries out each of its phases and proceeds to its position of origin. In
contrast, a solar month is one twelfth of a solar year, given that a solar year is span of time that elapses
as the Earth completes a single revolution around the sun. Despite the peculiar weather patterns that

Henry eventually gets his red badge of courage by getting hit in the head with a rifle. In Knowle s
novel, the symbol is the giant tree on the Devon campus. The giant tree represents fears and obstacles
of boys growing to be men. When Gene was younger the giant tree always gave him chills, because
that is where his friend Finny fell and broke his leg. Finny died because of the broken leg. Gene visits
Devon Boarding School around 15 years later. This time Gene is grown and in his mid thirties. Gene
notices the huge tree that gave him chills when he was younger. This time when Gene saw the huge
tree it seemed not as big as he expected it to be. The tree did not bring as much chills neither. It is easy
to infer that the tree brought a little discomfort to him because that is where his friend broke his leg. A
quote that proves the tree symbolizes fears and obstacles of boys says This was the tree, and it seemed
to me standing there to resemble those men, the giants of your childhood, whom you encounter years
later and find that they are not merely smaller in relation to your growth, but that they are absolutely
smaller, shrunken by age. In this double demotion the old giants have become pigmies while you were
looking the other way. (Knowles 14). The quote represents fears and obstacles, because the giants can
be scary. The giants also can get in the way of your life.

Reflection Of Citizen Kane
Orson Welles s Citizen Kane is a revolutionary film. Although it might not look like much to the
modern viewer, many aspects of the film were the first of their kind to appear and are still used today.
One thing I noticed throughout the film was the use of reflections. The movie starts off with a
montage of images of Xanadu, Charles Kane s personal estate. One of the shots includes a beautiful
reflection of the building in the water. When Kane dies and drops the snow globe, you see the nurse s
reflection in the glass as she walks into the room. After Kane convinces the men from the Chronicle to
come work for him at the Inquirer, he throws a party; we can see him dancing in a reflection of a
window. When Kane is in Xanadu, he walks through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The camera angles varied greatly throughout the film. Multiple times the camera was close to the floor
looking up at the characters and other times it was very high up looking down. There are also multiple
times within the film that the actors look straight into the camera. This happens when Leland and
Kane are talking about the newspaper declaration as well as when Walter Thatcher reading Kane s
newspapers headlines. Most narratives do not have the actors acknowledge that the camera is there,
however, some TV shows now have actors look into the camera for an added dramatic effect just as
Citizen Kane did.
The beginning of the film also used a shot that had a variety of newspaper headings with someone
flipping through the newspapers in order for the audience to see all the headings. This has been
repeated in many movies since, but now it is done digitally with fancy effects like the papers spinning.
I also like how there are two intertwined plots throughout the film, that of Kane s life and that of
Thompson trying to figure out what rosebud means. I have seen Citizen Kane before and watching it
for a second time was much better. I was able to pick up on details that I was confused by before. One
of these was the seemingly random screeching cockatoo towards the end of the film. Watching the
other students reactions made me realize what this cockatoo was for. After it appeared on screen many
people shot up as it seemed they were falling asleep or

What Are The Four Chambered Heart
Fish have a two chambered heart with one atrium and one ventricle. Oxygen diffusion occurs in the
gills. Amphibians have a three chambered heart with two atria and one ventricle. Reptiles have a four
chambered heart with two atria and two ventricles. However, there is mixing of blood because the
ventricle separation is incomplete. Birds and mammals both have a four chambered heart. All of these
hearts contain valves and the rest of the body receives blood through arteries (which carry oxygenated
blood away from the heart) and veins (which carry deoxygenated blood back to the heart) and
capillaries (where the two meet). The cardiac cycle is the period during which the heart fills with
blood and pumps it out. During one cycle, it receives deoxygenated

health and illness in two different social groups. Introduction In this assignment I will be writing about
two sociological perspectives and discus there patterns and trends of health and illness to two social
groups. The black report was published in 1980, and it included different facts about how health can
be improved from all different backgrounds in different social groupings. There is still a co relation
between social class and infant mortality rates, life expectancy and inequalities in the use of medical
services. This report looked at the differences between health and illness. Sociologists from this very
day still use the black report to look at inequalities of health because it was that significant and
powerful. Different researches do believe that there is a link between social class and health. It is a
statistical impression and also it has been argued that there isn t really a pattern in social class, age and
peoples employment that has had an impact on people s health inequalities. Statistical artefact is a
connection that shows how different systems have been used and measured. lower class have a much

The dry, cold air during winter can cause numerous skin problems such as dry and flaking skin thus
taking care of it should be on your priority list. Everyone has different skin types thus it is essential
that you consult a specialist or dermatologist when it comes to choosing the right product for you.
Make sure that you always read the labels before purchasing any skin care product. Here are several
skin care tips that can help you in keeping your skin healthy even during the winter:
Face
Take note of the changes in your skin if any so that your dermatologist can assess if you need to

Skin can be damaged by using common household soap like deodorant soaps or those that contain
heavy fragrances, alcohol or antibacterial elements. These ingredients can further strip the essential
oils in the skin making it vulnerable to irritants and allergens. Choose a moisturizing bar or a creamy
body wash instead. Steer clear of those with harsh detergents like ammonium lauryl sulfate and
triclosan; instead, opt for those with gentle ingredients like cocamidopropyl betaine.
Use soap daily only on the parts that needs a good washing and those that usually affected by sweat.
Try to use soap sparingly for the rest of the body.
The best time to apply a body moisturizer is right after the bath or shower, preferably when the skin is
still damp since it can actually draw moisture into the skin from the outside. Choose also those that are
fragrance free instead of unscented because it only means that fragrance are still used in neutralizing
any odor causing ingredients.
Hands and Feet
Make it a habit to apply lotion in your hands after washing to minimize skin dryness.
Always wear gloves when outdoors. Keep an extra pair in your car and use it even when driving.
If your skin is usually dry, apply a thick layer of moisturizer before wearing gloves. This can help the
moisturizer seep into the skin better.
Apply a moisturizer on your feet the same time you re applying it in your body and face since cold
weather can make the

Difference Between Liberal And Difference Feminism
King, 1 Sheridan Louise King Midterm POL192b: Legal Theory 1. What is the difference between
liberal and difference feminism? In order to differentiate liberal feminism from difference feminism, it
is important to clarify on the outset the exact definition of each term. According to Martha Fineman
(2005), feminism can be defined as a gender based theory focusing on challenging the assertions and
assumption revolving gender neutrality. Specifically, feminism deals with the assumptions and values
based on gender that generate gender and societal inequalities. In this context, therefore, liberal
feminism can be defined as the idea that emphasizes women s likeliness with men, and thus, deals
both with banning treatment that fosters gender bias and also establishing laws and regulations that
cater to equal opportunities for both men and women (Fineman, 2005). Conversely, difference
feminism holds the idea of different treatment, in which equal treatment is not seen as sufficient
(Fineman, 2005). With these clarifications, therefore, it is clear that liberal feminism and difference
feminism contrast due to their conflicting ideas in gender treatment. Primarily, liberal feminism
outlaws any and all bias behavior discriminating against gender types, whereas difference feminism
resorts to the idea that the difference of gender essentially calls for different treatment, hence men and
women should be treated differently (Fineman, 2005). The difference in these two ideas, thus, lies

Essay On Alhambra
Introduction
Alhambra (Cast Alhambra), the palace and fortress of the Moorish monarchs of Granada is located on
Sabika hill that overlooks the city of Granada in Spain. In Arabic Al Hamra means the red one so the
name Alhambra is probably derived from the colour of the sun dried tapia, or bricks made of fine
gravel and clay, of which the outer walls of the palace are built. Alhambra s Islamic palaces, as we
know them today, were built for the last Muslim emirs in Spain and the court of the Nasrid dynasty.
Moorish poets described it as a pearl set in emeralds, an allusion to the colour of its buildings and the
woods around them. Figure 1 the Alhambra Palace

linear patterns of scrolling and interlacing foliage, tendrils or plain lines, often combined with other
elements. The plant ornamentation in the Alhambra is encouraged by the constant references to heaven
as the garden of happiness. Examples of plants forming large adorning elements on walls can be seen

Running is a great way to keep fit and can be a lot of fun, too. It is very important to make sure you

different running shoes to choose from and most of the big sports manufacturers invest money into the

Running Shoe Components
A running shoe comprises an outsole, a midsole, an upper, a heel counter and a post or footbridge.
Apart from that, running shoes vary enormously in design and color. A running shoe has to be flexible

The Bank has to do lot of work why people are still financially excluded even after 68 years of

strategy could vary from village to village but all efforts should be made in this way as financial
inclusion can truly lift the financial condition and standards of life of the poor and the disadvantaged

Racial Bias in the United States due to Mass Media Essay
The United States of America has been called a mixing pot since the birth of the nation. Everyone,
especially politicians and educators, will proudly declare that the U.S. is a land of unmatched
diversity. The U.S. seems to always be portrayed as a highly cultural territory, harboring a vast
population of many races. Admittedly, the United States has come a long in terms of eliminating racial
barriers and pursuing equality. All around the world, America is seen as a country of colors, yet mass
media does not recognize that fact. Racial bias is a prevalent trend in today s media, and white people
are favored in comparison to any other race. Seemingly every aspect of mass media is soaked in bias.
Oftentimes, this leaves out minorities ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Merriam Webster fully defines racism as a belief that race is the primary determinant of human traits
and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race . In his
article, Balkaran points out that racial discourse can be inferred to be aversive, academic, scientific,
legalistic, bureaucratic, economic, cultural, linguistic, religion, mythical, or ideological. He states that
racial discourse and expressions have been prevalent towards African Americans. Race matters exist
in different places and at different times under widely varying conditions, he writes. This pushes into
the understanding of racism in the history of the United States. Society has been significantly
revolutionized since the beginnings of the United States. The very history of the country has been
cursed with racism and the harsh oppression of minorities. In fact, America s power and economy
were founded on a Marxist theory of a two class system. On the top of that system were the slave
owners, and at the very bottom were the slaves themselves (Balkaran, 1999). Slavery and segregation
used to be huge components in the lives of Americans. During those times, Americans were white,
landowning men; obviously that principle has been altered a great deal. People of color, women, and
the poor actually have been given suffrage by amendments in the Constitution. Although the United
States culture and society

Investigating The National Hockey League Scandal And Its...
In todays fast paced society, White Collar Crimes are no longer overlooked. Rather, these crimes have
become the target for special task forces. They may occur once a month, once a year, or even once a
day. Some examples of these crimes include bribery, Ponzi schemes, insider trading, embezzlement,
cybercrime, copyright infringement, money laundering, identity theft, and forgery. (4*) White Collar
Crimes are usually directly associated with some sort of corruption. In this essay I will be taking a
current National Hockey League scandal and relating it to white collar crime, specifically
embezzlement and corrupt influence. To begin, I will provide a brief explanation of corruption,
embezzlement and the power of a corrupt influence. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Firstly, you can offer compensation for the request which you are, more or less, forcing this victim
into doing. On the other hand, you can imply, and sometimes enforce, a threat. This threat does not
necessarily mean physical, however, physically threatening someone is a type of extortion. Another
threat enforced through corruption could be loss of finances. Having a corrupt influence on someone,
usually implies, it comes from a place of fear. In some situations, this implication is the furthest from
the truth. Corrupt influence can also occur through affection; as we grow relationships with certain
people around us we start to trust their opinion. Clearly this person has earned this trust over time as
you have developed a relationship with them, however, under certain circumstances, this person could
use the trust you have empowered them with for their personal gain. Embezzlement may occur in
many different circumstances. Sometimes, it can cost a person to lose millions of dollars to another
individual or something as simple as a small, every day product. Embezzlement may be defined by
fraudulent conversion of another s property or money by a person to whom it has been entrusted. (4*)
For example, if a waitress in a restaurant were to take your order, bring your food, and proceed to
collect the payment without punching it into the computer. Instead she chooses to

How Does The Sniper Build Suspense
In Liam O Flaherty s story The Sniper, a story about a sniper in the nighttime in a battle against an
enemy sniper in Dublin, the author concentrated deeply on dialogue, inner thinking and revealing
actions throughout the story to build suspense. In the beginning, the author uses descriptions to build
suspense. The evidence is in the first page when the narrator gives the reader a description of what is
going on before the story starts. It builds suspense because it lets the reader think of what everything
looks like and it gives a little background of what is going on so far. In the middle of the story, O
Flaherty uses inner thinking to form tension. The pieces of evidence are in the 1st and 2nd pages. The
first piece is in page 1, when the

Essay about Cognitive Development of Children
Piaget s phase concept explains the cognitive development of children. Cognitive development implies
transformation in the cognitive procedure and skills. In Piaget s vision, initial cognitive development
involves processes based upon measures and afterward proceeds into changes in the cerebral
operations. Schemas; a schema clarifies both the cerebral and physical actions occupied in
comprehending plus knowing. Schemas are sorts of information that help us to explain and understand
the world. In Piaget s vision, a schema includes both a group of understanding and the procedure of
gaining that knowledge. As practice occurs, this new information is used to adapt, add to, or change
formerly presented schemas. For example, a child may have a ... Show more content on

As children progress through the phases of cognitive development, it is significant to keep a balance
between applying previous knowledge (assimilation) and changing behavior to account for new
knowledge (accommodation). Equilibration helps explain how children are adept to shift from 1 stage
of theory into the next. The 1st stage of Piaget s concept survives from birth to roughly age 2 and is
centered on the infant attempting to make sense of the world. During the sensor motor stage, an infant
s wisdom of the world is restricted to their sensory observations and motor activities. Behaviors are
restricted to trouble free motor reactions produced by sensory stimuli. Children use skills and abilities
they were born with, such as looking, sucking, grasping, and listening, to learn more about the natural
environment. The sensor motor stage can be separated into 6 separate substages that are distinguished
by the growth of a new skill. Throughout this substage, the child appreciates the atmosphere entirely
through inborn reflexes such as sucking and looking. This substage involves coordinating sensation
and new schemas. For example, a child may perhaps such his or her thumb by accident and then later
intentionally repeat the action. These actions are repeated because the infant finds them pleasurable.
During this substage, the

Analysis of the Force
Overall, the five forces model suggests that the overall intensity of competition in the airline industry
is likely to be severe. Back in the early 1980 s competition was very intense. During the late 1980 s
the monopolization of major routes by a few major carriers, the limited availability of free landing
spots at major hubs and the emergence of limited brand loyalty and tacit price agreements have all
helped reduce the intensity of competition. However, as already mentioned, slumping demand in the
early 1990 s plunged the industry once more into a severe price war. Airline travel is a commodity
type product, with limited potential for differentiation.

Because it s relatively easy for weaker airlines to obtain credit, the industry has become saturated.
Brand identity is important in the airline industry, and benefits larger airlines. Major carriers allocate
considerable resources to marketing efforts. Frequent flier programs and other incentives have been
successful in enticing travelers to fly with certain carriers. The frequent flyer incentive can often be
strong enough to cause a customer to choose one carrier over another even when the other carrier
offers a lower fare.
Barriers to entry are also heightened by the hub system in the airline industry. Carriers can offer
travelers more choices while tying up less capital through their hubs. As a result, the hub system
creates market power for large carriers.
Threat of Substitutes: Low
There are several substitutes to air travel, but over long distances and flying between continents, there
are no real substitutes that can bring humans face to face with speed. The decision to use automobiles
or trains is influenced by time, money, personal preference and convenience. Video conferencing takes
away the one on one human contact and socialization that air travel allows you to reach.

Christian Beliefs In Beowulf
The Beliefs of Beowulf
Beowulf can be referred to as the mother poem of England. The true origin of the poem is unknown.
However, it is believed to be written by a monk around the time of 700 A.D. near the modern day
West Midlands of England. Regardless, the author expresses their knowledge of Christianity and
paganism throughout the poem. The two beliefs are very different from one another, but the author
was able to tie them together to build the story. The paganism reflects past memories of the beliefs that
the people in the land shared. Christianity gives reference to the new beliefs and values the people
were following at the time the poem was written. Even though the author of Beowulf is unknown,
he/she has done a well job of expressing the poem with Christian values, Pagan beliefs, and the
conflict between the two. Beowulf refers to Christianity before paganism. The first reference is the
Song of Creation found in lines 3 13: As day after day the music rang/Loud in that hall, the harp s
rejoicing/Call and the poet s clear songs, sung/Of the ancient beginnings of us all, recalling/The
Almighty making the earth, shaping/These beautiful plains marked off by oceans,/Then proudly
setting the sun and moon/To glow across the land and light it;/The corners of the earth were made
lovely with trees/And leaves, made quick with life, with each/Of the nations who now move on its
face. Many of Hrothgar s men are still pagan, however, he has converted to Christianity. Hrothgar

Photojournalism In Edward Weston s Pepper No.
A photographer s job is to capture a moment in a tangible form in which can last forever, perhaps in
someone s memory, or digitized in someone s phone or modern museum and shown to the public. No
matter the type of photographer, they will always take a photograph of human emotions, whatever the
subject. Pepper No. 30 by Edward Weston is a simple picture of a bell pepper. What is less known
about the photograph is that the exposure had taken up to six hours with an f stop of f/240 (PetaPixel).
Every piece of art always has a literal meaning based on what is immediately shown. In seeing Mark
Rothko s paintings for the first time, you feel that you can slather paint on a large canvas just as

Just like a dedicated reporter trying to feed their newspaper with the most scandalous story or chilling
tale, photojournalism takes the profession a step further. With concrete photographic evidence of the
story they are trying to find and cover, their audience will have a dedicated visual of the story. Jacob
Riis is perhaps the most famed photojournalist of his time, taking pictures of what nobody in America
wanted to see: the impoverished lives of those that lived in the New York ghettos. During the 1880s
through 1890s, the state of New York needed to accomodate for all the people who moved in by
building tenements. Riis describes a tenement as . . . a house occupied by three or more families,
living independently . . . and having a common right in the halls, stairways, yards, etc, (Riis 18).
Unlike the dirt poor New York ghetto that Riis helped reform through exposing his photographs to the
middle and higher classed New York citizens, Ross was under constant surveillance and could not
show his photojournalistic pictures during his time in Lodz. Instead, his tool of photography had
helped bring down Nazi Germany after the war, inciting his vengeance on everyone involved in the
Holocaust. Today, modern photojournalists employ the same strategies as Ross, ending corruption
with photographic proof of their stories, and exposing their pictures for the world to

Dust Bowl Refugees In The 1930 s
The 1930 s were a time of tragedy for Midwestern people who lived in the United States, especially
farmers in the Great Plains region. During this time crops perished and winds picked up causing a
massive dust storm to begin. In the course of this catastrophe at least 350,000 Okies loaded their
belongings into cars and trucks and headed to California (Henretta, Hinderaker, Edwards, and Self
688). Californians were opposed to the arrival of these dust bowl refugees because they were
competition for California s already limited job market, the refugees were receiving a large amount of
the state s Federal Relief money, and they were causing problems in society. This essay will start with

These dust bowl refugees thought that California could be their salvation and a lot of them weren t
disappointed because the state distributed millions of dollars worth of relief supplies to dust bowl
refugees, ( Kern Will Probe 6) throughout the 1930 s. However, even with these federal relief
programs a numerous amount of these refugees still weren t wealthy by any means and were at a very
low point in their lives looking for any opportunity to stay alive. This alarming reality lead many of
these refugees to commit crimes for money or just to end up in prison where they would be fed and
sheltered. In San Quentin California alone the states of Arkansas, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas
contributed 882 prisoners, ( Dust Bowl Folks 2) to their state prison in 3 years. Those refugees
accounted for 18 percent of San Quentin State Prison s total inmate population. In short, this not only
put California in a social slump but also an economic crisis. Thus causing many Californians to be
aggravated with the reality that thousands of these people were coming to live in their home state. Not
only were these refugees coming to their state and committing crime, the state of California and the
tax payers were now the ones responsible for feeding and sheltering these criminals. Most importantly,
this responsibility wasn t cheap, the average cost per year of a prisoner in San Quentin is $215,
making a total of $190,512, ( Dust Bowl Folks 2) according to the Healdsburg Tribune in 1939. Sadly,
even those who didn t resort to crime and came to California with the best of intentions often only
caused problems for Californians. Employment groups and local businesses often had to halt
employee hiring. They wanted to try to make sure that Californian citizens were the ones getting the
jobs over the refugees. However, with the magnitude of people trying to get jobs and the fact that

  • 3. Stars By Richard Dyer Summary And Analysis Stars are the faces we see and admire on television. We as a society see stars and immediately want to experience what they experience and we want to understand them. We see stars as superficial beings. We see the roles they play in movies and television and only the major things that producers want us to see. Richard Dyer, film critic and author of Stars asserts that stars are constructed to an audience so they can relate to them and easily identify with them.We connect to the star based on a feature that we admire or share. This development from an admiration to an idolization pushes an attempt to replicate what society admires in the star. This can either be a positive role or negative role. For example, for someone who admires Leonardo DiCaprio, they might want to donate to his foundation supporting the economy and climate change. While others may idolize and want to behave like Lindsay Lohan and experiment with drugs. This skews what teenagers and kids see as cool . Many of the reasons why young women want to appear thin is because of the stars we see on television. Many female stars have an hourglass shape to them, large breasts, flat stomach, and wide hips. If one were to google the perfect body, studies about how we view the perfect body arise, as well as an article about the perfect Kardashian body and how to get one are the first links that appear. Richard Dyer presents an idea in his book Stars that examines the social types of stars. He analyzes their indigenous role in how society functions through the history of film production. Dyer describes the characteristics of stardom as ordinariness, success, love, and consumption. Ordinariness is sought for in the eyes of stars because that is necessary to relate to the public. If society viewed stars as another species or not human, no one would have the desire to be a star and they would become unrelatable. High school students have been utilizing the idea of #relatable or #me for years because generally, people have the aspiration to relate to others. Neil Patrick Harris got married three years ago to David Burtka, and three years later he made a post expressing his joy and gratitude that he was able to marry the love of his life. The ... The type of entry used depends on ● The depth of the water. ● The lifeguard station whether it is elevated or at ground level. 59 60 Lifeguarding Fig. 5 6 Fig. 5 7 A ● Obstacles in the water, such as people, lane lines and safety lines. ● The location and condition of the victim. ● The design of the facility. Slide In Entry The slide in entry is slower than other entries, but it is the safest entry to use in most conditions (Fig. 5 6). It is especially useful in shallow water, crowded pools or when a victim with a head, neck or back injury is close to the side of the pool or pier. To perform a slide in entry, the lifeguard should 1. Sit down on the edge of the pool deck or pier, facing the water. Place the rescue tube on the surface of the pool deck or pier or in the water. 2. • 6. Reason For European Imperialism Imperialism, a policy in which one country seeks authority over another country by economic and political domination. The Europeans at this time in history, were looking for resources and something to help them show their national pride; the best way to do that was to imperialize different countries. Africa, which was not industrialized, was seen as not capable to lead themselves into modernization. The europeans as well as many other countries began to seek land in the divided, war filled country. The reasons for europeans seeking imperialism is because of the strive for natural resources, the need to show national pride, and thoughts upon racism. In imperialism, natural resources where a large driving cause to the spread of authority all ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An empire such as Britain requires an imperial race (Primrose). People from all over saw how different people and cultures came from all over the world which create hate and a variety of disapproval for others. African people were seen as hated, uncivilized people only because, they had so many different cultures and different ways of living. If Africa was to be industrialized before other countries came it would have been seen as a land that is respected because the people who live in it are capable of industrialization. But because the land was not industrialized before imperialism racism became a strong attacking point upon the uncivilized. France went with a fully developed race into territories marked by barbarism and people who cannot develop their own land (Merlin). France in this description sees themselves as superior to the Africans because, they do not have fighting within their country and they are industrialized. Without their ability to come together as a country and grow an economy France would be another Africa. Racism drove France to come to Africa and show their superiority over them. Racism was a large reason for imperialism. Africa was a resource rich, divided, different country. Every country that took a part in Africa s imperialism saw this matter and took advantage. If Africa had time to figure out how to develop an economy, unify with each other, and industrialize itself; imperialism from other countries would ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Memento Film Techniques When it comes to symbols throughout this movie, they are not hidden where you have to think about it. These motifs are easily present and up front an personal when the film was screened. The first motif was obvious and of course the main sought out object of the entire film and that was the Enigma machine. This machine was said to be the unbreakable message translator that would be all the leverage needed for Germany to have the victory at the end of the tunnel. The Enigma machine was easy to understand but extremely difficult to break, especially when you only had 24 hours to break that days worth of codes and then after all the work would change for a new day of code breaking. The second motif would be Turing s machine named Christopher. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, when the commander has the whole crew besides Joan in a room in a circle talking about ideas to break the Enigma machine, this scene tells you a lot more than what it actually is. First it introduces the whole crew and it gives a preview on how they plan on getting along while being able to see the emotions and expressions of each character. I believe after you watch this for a second time it gives it away that Cairncross is up to something by the expression he gives in the scene. The feeling of this scene is gloomy by the non existence of light, you can see the shadows off of the characters faces which to me gives another insight that the machine in the middle of the table and the big secret with in the crew are the things that are making it possible for Germany to win the war. The second example is when the families were seeking safety in the bomb shelter from the Germans the lights were swaying but some of the lighting didn t move. In this scene you can see in the top right corner that their is light added because the light comes in at an angle unlike the other lights shown in the shelter. Lastly, was when Turing was turning Joan down and telling her that she was only close to him to help break Enigma, and now she can leave him alone. This lead to Joan slapping Turing, which is where the feeling and overall shot portrays. After the slap you can see the slapped side of Turing s face and their was no marks or indications of a confrontation. Even the aftermath of Turing expression didn t show any evidence that he was ... • 8. The Importance Of Religion In Night By Elie Wiesel Most people around the world are in pursuit of a religion that reflects one s personal interests, qualities, and beliefs. As a Holocaust victim, Elie Wiesel has a first hand experience with the overall cruelty that Jews become accustomed to in these times of torture. Within the second World War were additional wars inside the minds of innocent people, or internal conflicts. God is an entity that is positioned in the hearts of the enslaved; however, when put in distress, one s faith in God slowly begins to repress. In Elie Wiesel s memoir, Night, the significance of the loss in faith of God can likewise be perceived as the loss of identity. Wiesel reveals how during this time of pure hatred towards his religion, he becomes unfocused on who he used to be, and strays from his true self. Religion has been the motive of most wars throughout history, and often this external conflict leads the oppressed to internal conflict. As seen through Elie, one can see how this internal conflict or loss of faith alters personal identity. Elie has difficulty in understanding inhumanity and oppression surrounding him at this early stage in his life. Elie is beginning to distinguish between what is legitimate and what is fabricated in terms of the war; for instance, the truth about where they are being taken and what the Almighty are doing about the Nazi s actions. Walking through Auschwitz, observing the crematoria, and the hundreds of innocent people walking into their death unknowingly. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Criticism In Mariette Lippo s Confirmation Names In Confirmation Names, Mariette Lippo describes a group of girls choosing their patron saints. Through the use of irony and syntax, the author scorns the Catholic Church s treatment towards adolescent girls and the standards they are held under. However, when using a feminist criticism, Lippo s disdain turns into anger towards society, not just the Catholic faith alone. When under an archetypal criticism, the piece focuses more on the religious stereotypes of the harsh, reserved nun and the classic rebellious Catholic schoolgirls, and thus provokes a sense of pity for the girls and an automatic cringe worthy distaste for the nuns. Both the close reading and literary criticisms produce new tones and shed different lights on the conflicting aspects of Confirmation Names. Initially, Confirmation Names explains the process behind confirmation names for young Catholic girls. However, through the use of language and literary devices, Lippo clearly presents a defiant tone towards the way young girls are restricted in the Catholic faith. Lippo strategically addresses each young girl in a new paragraph, reflecting Catholic nuns tones toward each young girl s vice. However, though Lippo introduces the nuns sentiments in her piece, she also provides a sense of defiant solidarity for the young girls by using the inclusive words we and us when interjecting herself into the narration We studied the saints... (Lippo 1), and None of us, of course, chose Magdalen... (Lippo ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. The Moral Code Of Social And Individual Rights And... Post conventional morality is consisting of social and individual rights and universal principles. This stage of morality brings a hedonistic view of self and other as well as pure justice. Where am I truly standing on? Utilitarian? Kantian? Or in between of both? Previous ethics papers have put me into thinking who I really am and where I truly stand in moral code. I have dug my deepest self and explored types of ideas and beliefs that I embraced. Thus, before I had actually thought about what I truly care and role I want to play in this society, I believed that I was utilitarian. Although, being utilitarian and my decisions did not exactly matched. The nurture part of the life have shaped my moral code in more complicated form. Therefore, the conclusion that I have come up with my moral code is heavily influenced by Immanuel Kant, Buddhism, and my personal religion: Spiritualistic Agnostic. First, as growing up I was told to not to harm others physical and psychological states. Kant also believes in the idea that not to use anyone for a means to an end. As I make post conventional moral decision, I found myself leaning more onto Kantian ethics of not to use someone for a means to an end and the golden mean. Basically, decisions I make in society reduce and/or no harm applied onto others while doing things in moderate pace or amount. Kant believed that by having moral personality we are superior among other species. Psychologically speaking, intelligence can be enhanced ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Case Study The Wilma Per your request I have analyzed how to properly account for The Wilma. As of January 15, 2015 The Wilma is impaired and needs to recognize an impairment loss in the amount of $2,331,823.20. The Wilma has changed in use and condition therefore it needs to be reviewed for impairment. GAAP requires assets to be investigated for impairment, only when certain events or changes occur that may cause an asset to not be recoverable. (b) A significant change in the use of the asset and its physical condition. As of January 1, 2015 The Wilma has a carrying cost of $4,875,000 (cost of $6,500,000 minus 10 year depreciation of 1,625,000). The lease for 2015 2024 will generate an undiscounted cash flow of $2,400,000. With the over abundance of commercial warehouse space The Wilma only has a 50% chance of renewing the lease for another 10 years (2025 2034). Therefore the total undiscounted cash flow would be $3,600,000. The carrying cost of The Wilma is larger than the undiscounted cash flow calculated, making the carrying amount of The Wilma not recoverable. The impairment loss will be the amount that the carrying amount exceeds the fair value by. The discounted fair value of The Wilma is $2,543,176.80; therefore the impairment loss to be recognized is $2,331,823.20 (carrying amount of $4,875,000 minus the fair value of $2,543,176.80) (FASB, 2015, ASC para. ... Most of CBS holdings are located within United States, but CBS also have overseas holdings for international media business. Today s CBS Corporation actually has experienced a series of acquisitions as well as split off and it has a complicated history. CBS Corporation has adopted such strategies in the television programs. For example, many movies which are broadcasted on CBS channels are produced by Paramount, a movie production company owned by Viacom. In this example, CBS TV channels is the way to distribute media content while Paramount is the way to produce such content. The vertical integration is a useful method of advertising the company and impacting social relations. The culture of the company is distributed to people who value the company, such as subscribers of CBS channels. Horizontal integration is the integration across the media landscape. This integration is obvious in such a giant media conglomerate. CBS Corporation covers the field of radio, publishing, television and online properties. In this way, some important materials can be widely broadcast and learned by many customers. One thing I found interesting is that CBS once produced many classic movies, such as Roman Holidays. This movie is actually produced by CBS Film Inc, which is the former Viacom. Later, as we know, Viacom owns some excellent movie production companies such as Paramount. The movie producing positioning of Viacom decided its company strategy to move forward in movie industry. Many will argue yes because of safety reasons, but what if that leads to bigger problems? This has been a debate for years and has caused to create many rules that have or have not worked. For example the Gun Free schools Act or the zero tolerance policies. Although it protects students and can create a safe and secure environment, police officers in schools should not be armed because it can create discrimination, officers will feel with more power and authority, and take away student s education. However, many might think police officers should be armed in case of an emergency. There has been many incidents where shootings occurs at schools and the police officer s job is to protect themselves and the lives of students and staff at any cost. You can argue this to be a good reason to allow police officers to carry weapons. They feel they should be armed for protection, but many police officers take advantage of that and feel they have the power to do anything, even to break a law. It is not right for police officers to think they can break laws because everyone is equal and having armed police officers will damage students in other ways. Police officers do contribute to an environment of discrimination. Without any sense of characters, setting, or plot, the reader is thrown into the lives of others as they scramble to unearth the truth behind the scenes. Salinger provides complex stories of relatable characters; some are stories of happiness and others are of loss and dysfunction. Often times, the characters have difficulties dealing with the harsh realities of their lives and have to look towards alternate means of coping. Society fosters an overly structured environment with little room for atypical relationships, ideals, and behaviors. Anything that is outside of the normal is immediately written off and labeled as deviant behavior, something that is often frowned upon in this day and age. The characters in Nine Stories by J.D. Salinger use various coping mechanisms to escape the reality that societal norms and traditionalism present. Seymour Glass of A Perfect Day for Bananafish is a twisted character who, having returned from the traumas of war, has a hard time fitting back into a routine of normalcy. Although, considered the runner up to the sun as the second brightest object in the sky, its illumination is deceitful, insomuch as the moon is not a source of light, but instead reflects the sun s illumination from the half of the moon that is in direct alignment with the sun at that time. Specifically, feminism deals with the assumptions and values based on gender that generate gender and societal inequalities. In this context, therefore, liberal feminism can be defined as the idea that emphasizes women s likeliness with men, and thus, deals both with banning treatment that fosters gender bias and also establishing laws and regulations that cater to equal opportunities for both men and women (Fineman, 2005). Conversely, difference feminism holds the idea of different treatment, in which equal treatment is not seen as sufficient (Fineman, 2005). With these clarifications, therefore, it is clear that liberal feminism and difference feminism contrast due to their conflicting ideas in gender treatment. Primarily, liberal feminism outlaws any and all bias behavior discriminating against gender types, whereas difference feminism resorts to the idea that the difference of gender essentially calls for different treatment, hence men and women should be treated differently (Fineman, 2005). The difference in these two ideas, thus, lies ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. Essay On Alhambra Introduction Alhambra (Cast Alhambra), the palace and fortress of the Moorish monarchs of Granada is located on Sabika hill that overlooks the city of Granada in Spain. In Arabic Al Hamra means the red one so the name Alhambra is probably derived from the colour of the sun dried tapia, or bricks made of fine gravel and clay, of which the outer walls of the palace are built. Alhambra s Islamic palaces, as we know them today, were built for the last Muslim emirs in Spain and the court of the Nasrid dynasty. Moorish poets described it as a pearl set in emeralds, an allusion to the colour of its buildings and the woods around them. Trump s belief that climate change was just a myth spread through homes like a wildfire, one that has still not been put out. It is very important to make sure you have the correct equipment before you start and one of the most important investments is a good pair of running shoes. They can improve your running gait and prevent injuries. There are thousands of different running shoes to choose from and most of the big sports manufacturers invest money into the science and technology of running shoes. Running Shoe Components A running shoe comprises an outsole, a midsole, an upper, a heel counter and a post or footbridge. Apart from that, running shoes vary enormously in design and color. He states that racial discourse and expressions have been prevalent towards African Americans. Race matters exist in different places and at different times under widely varying conditions, he writes. This pushes into the understanding of racism in the history of the United States. Society has been significantly revolutionized since the beginnings of the United States. The very history of the country has been cursed with racism and the harsh oppression of minorities. In fact, America s power and economy were founded on a Marxist theory of a two class system. On the top of that system were the slave owners, and at the very bottom were the slaves themselves (Balkaran, 1999). Slavery and segregation used to be huge components in the lives of Americans. During those times, Americans were white, landowning men; obviously that principle has been altered a great deal. Having a corrupt influence on someone, usually implies, it comes from a place of fear. In some situations, this implication is the furthest from the truth. Corrupt influence can also occur through affection; as we grow relationships with certain people around us we start to trust their opinion. As children progress through the phases of cognitive development, it is significant to keep a balance between applying previous knowledge (assimilation) and changing behavior to account for new knowledge (accommodation). Equilibration helps explain how children are adept to shift from 1 stage of theory into the next. The 1st stage of Piaget s concept survives from birth to roughly age 2 and is centered on the infant attempting to make sense of the world. During the sensor motor stage, an infant s wisdom of the world is restricted to their sensory observations and motor activities. Behaviors are restricted to trouble free motor reactions produced by sensory stimuli. Children use skills and abilities they were born with, such as looking, sucking, grasping, and listening, to learn more about the natural environment. The sensor motor stage can be separated into 6 separate substages that are distinguished by the growth of a new skill. Throughout this substage, the child appreciates the atmosphere entirely through inborn reflexes such as sucking and looking. This substage involves coordinating sensation and new schemas. For example, a child may perhaps such his or her thumb by accident and then later intentionally repeat the action. These actions are repeated because the infant finds them pleasurable. Back in the early 1980 s competition was very intense. During the late 1980 s the monopolization of major routes by a few major carriers, the limited availability of free landing spots at major hubs and the emergence of limited brand loyalty and tacit price agreements have all helped reduce the intensity of competition. The frequent flyer incentive can often be strong enough to cause a customer to choose one carrier over another even when the other carrier offers a lower fare. However, it is believed to be written by a monk around the time of 700 A.D. near the modern day West Midlands of England. Regardless, the author expresses their knowledge of Christianity and paganism throughout the poem. The two beliefs are very different from one another, but the author was able to tie them together to build the story. The paganism reflects past memories of the beliefs that the people in the land shared. Christianity gives reference to the new beliefs and values the people were following at the time the poem was written. Even though the author of Beowulf is unknown, he/she has done a well job of expressing the poem with Christian values, Pagan beliefs, and the conflict between the two. Beowulf refers to Christianity before paganism. In San Quentin California alone the states of Arkansas, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas contributed 882 prisoners, ( Dust Bowl Folks 2) to their state prison in 3 years.
