Disadvantages Of Big Data
Introduction
Big Data is the new buzzword recently discussed highly in industry, academia and research as it was
generated profusely due to the technology revolution caused by Internet of Things (IoT).Knowledge
Management being a strategic process carried out in industry with great focus was seriously impacted
by the Big Data and its analytics as they were interchangeability used in various context relating to
Information and Knowledge Management. The reason is none other than the significance of Data in
the KM system, as a tool that link people, technology and processes. As the Data increased in its size,
speed, variety, complexity and variability it became Big Data . This study actually tries to explain the
key components of KM in organizations and the characteristics of Big Data and their mutual impact.

Several explanations were given about the buzzword Big Data . Big Data describes a process in which
serious computing power is applied to seriously massive and often highly complex sets of information
(Microsoft Research, 2013). Big data is also defined as a cultural, technological, and scholarly
phenomenon based on three elements such as Technology, Analysis and Mythology (Boyd and
Crawford, 2012). The first reason behind the quick expansion of Big Data is the extensive degree to
which data are created, shared and utilized across the organizations and virtual networks formally and
informally in the recent times. Digitization, that is, the transformation of analogue signals into digital
ones, reached massive popularity in the early 1990s. The data information knowledge wisdom
hierarchy offers an alternative view, according to which information appears as data that are structured
in a way to be useful and relevant to a specific purpose (Rowley,

Country Dancing Research Paper
Country 1 Writing Assignment Dance Attended: Friday April 28th County Dance in WB112
Fundraiser for OSU Equestrian team 7:45 11:00pm Attending this dance was quite a memorable
experience. I went with some ballroom dance friends and my friend Mary, who is in Country 1 with
me. I didn t realize it was a fundraiser until I asked the people checking it in what the funds went
toward; it was wonderful to learn that the OSU equestrian was raising money for a national
competition. There were only a few people when we arrived, but as the night pushed on, the gym
filled up and the floor was full of people in cowboy boots. Some people did come to the dance slightly
intoxicated, but not so much that they weren t able to dance properly. Another interesting thing is that
many ballroom dancers, who are on the technique team with me, are very good at country dancing and
go to almost all of the Country Dance Club events! ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first guy I danced swing with did a lift and dip that I was not prepared for, but it was super fun
and exhilarating! One thing I noticed is that having a good lead who has a little more experience
country dancing makes dancing very fun. I danced Schottische with both Andrews in our Country 1
class. Andrew and I taught some ballroom students how to do Schottische, and it wasn t as hard to
teach as I thought it would be! Schottische is probably my favorite non line dance. The line dances
were my favorite part, and will continue to be my favorite part of the country dances. I learned a lot of
new ones and taught the ones I did know to my ballroom dance friends. I loved watching people dance
the more complex line dances and get so into it! Wild Wild West is especially fun to watch because it
is a little different than the other line

The Study of the Dunbar Cave in Montgomery County,...
This article talks about the study of the Dunbar Cave in Montgomery County, Tennessee to learn more
about the varied ways that the cave was used by people. Many of the artifacts that was in the cave
linked its usage time to be from the Late Paleo Indian to the Mississippian period. The article define
dark zone cave art as the decorations in the areas of the caves that is beyond the reach of external
lights . Mug Glyph Cave art was found in the 12th Unnamed Cave in Tennessee and since then sixty
nine other caves that had dark zone cave art were found. The artifacts and chronological data from
these sites indicates that the tradition of cave art began 6000 years ago. In 2005 one of the author join

The authors said there were signs of human activities in the caves and that there are more
archaeological work that need to be done. The article main idea was to showed the prehistoric uses of
the Dunbar Cave in Montgomery County, Tennessee. I liked the article because the authors gave a
good enough background information so that the reader can understand it. They also define some of
the vocabulary that was used so that the reader completely understand what they were talking about.
The article also included tables and detail information on what the table is talking about. For example,
one of the table is about the Radiocarbon age determination from the Dunbar cave. At first glance the
information is very confusing, but after a while I can see what the authors was referring to and where
they got their information from. One of the problem that the article had was when they were
interpreting one of the pictograph. After reading the descriptions I went back and look at the image, I
could not see what they authors were referring to. I realized that most of the pictures needed
interpretation, but sometimes I feel like the interpretations of the pictographs is a little of to how the
authors wants the readers to see it. Then again, in one of the pictures the authors were able to

The Innovative Rise And Effects Of Computer Corporations
THE INNOVATIVE RISE AND EFFECTS OF COMPUTER CORPORATIONS According to The
History, Development, and Importance of Personal Computers of Science and Its Times, in 2001,
estimates believed that there will be 2 billion PCs in use worldwide as of 2014. Today, computers have
changed our modern society. Almost every human being is using a computer either by ordering out a
drive thru at a fast food restaurant or even just surfing the web. Computers allow the world to be
interconnected and people from all over the globe to communicate within seconds. To find the
foundation of computers, we must look at the creation of the first computer and the innovations that

Another essential element in creating a computer is the knowledge of how to use electricity ( History,
Development, and Importance ). All computers eventually develop the same basic components: a
CPU, RAM, hard disk drive, input and output devices, and a constant power source (Goldsmith and
Jackson). The first computer became the foundation of all computer development and innovations
were created afterwards to support and improve upon it. According to the article ENIAC from World
of Inventions, the first computer that required the use of electricity was called ENIAC (Electronic

during World War II ( ENIAC ). Eckert and Mauchly s ENIAC contained 18,000 vacuum tubes and

Fruit and Hydroponics
Hydroponics
Introduction
NAME HERE and I became fascinated by hydroponics and the idea that one doesn t have to get their
hands dirty to be a great gardener, and if your like us that s a good thing.
The idea of hydroponics has been around since the pyramids where build, but in all these years it
never seemed to catch on. It took about forty six hundred years before the first scientist took a look at
hydroponics and adapted it to grow crops, this was a professor at the University of California, and the
result was a 25 foot tomato plant that had to be harvest by a ladder. Thus hydroponics was reborn and
has been advancing ever since. Yet up to 5 years ago the home grower and generally the public didn t
know about hydroponics. It was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This plant may have only grown 7cm but it has a diameter of 6cm, which may be smaller than the peas
but in my opinion the tomatoes look way more healthier than the peas, because the leaves on the
tomatoes are bigger and have a nicer shade of green.
Peas(The vegetable)results This plant came in at a close third. It has a length of 13cm. Even though it
has a longer stem than the tomatoes it was our opinion that the peas weren t as healthy looking as the
tomatoes were. Some of its leaves where green, but some had unhealthy looking spots on them.
Tinkerbell(The flower)results The results of this plant wasn t very good at all. Not only did this plant
come in dead last but it also looks almost dead.
It grow about 1cm in the first week and just kind of stopped there.
Summary
To summarize this project, I would have to say that it was a success.
Since we have answer the problem of which plant thrives the greatest. Obviously, the bean, our
legume is the best by far and the tomatoes our fruit is second the peas our vegetable are third, and
dwindling in last the last place the all non mighty flower the tinkerbell.

Nt1310 Unit 5 Agression Analysis Paper
As a simple illustration of a k means algorithm, consider the following data set consisting of the
scores of two variables on each of seven individuals: Subject A B 1 1.0 1.0 2 1.5 2.0 3 3.0 4.0 4 5.0 7.0
5 3.5 5.0 6 4.5 5.0 7 3.5 4.5 This data set is to be grouped into two clusters. As a first step in finding a
sensible initial partition, let the A B values of the two individuals furthest apart (using the Euclidean
distance measure), define the initial cluster means, giving: Individual Mean Vector (centroid) Group 1
1 (1.0, 1.0) Group 2 4 (5.0, 7.0) The remaining individuals are now examined in sequence and
allocated to the cluster to which they are closest, in terms of Euclidean distance to the cluster mean.
The mean vector is recalculated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So, we compare each individual s distance to its own cluster mean and to that of the opposite cluster.
And we find: Individual Distance to mean (centroid) of Cluster 1 Distance to mean (centroid) of
Cluster 2 1 1.5 5.4 2 0.4 4.3 3 2.1 1.8 4 5.7 1.8 5 3.2 0.7 6 3.8 0.6 7 2.8 1.1 Only individual 3 is nearer
to the mean of the opposite cluster (Cluster 2) than its own (Cluster 1). In other words, each individual
s distance to its own cluster mean should be smaller that the distance to the other cluster s mean
(which is not the case with individual 3). Thus, individual 3 is relocated to Cluster 2 resulting in the
new partition: Individual Mean Vector (centroid) Cluster 1 1, 2 (1.3, 1.5) Cluster 2 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 (3.9,
5.1) The iterative relocation would now continue from this new partition until no more relocations
occur. However, in this example each individual is now nearer its own cluster mean than that of the
other cluster and the iteration stops, choosing the latest partitioning as the final cluster solution. Also,
it is possible that the k means algorithm won t find a final solution. In this case it would be a good idea
to consider stopping the algorithm after a pre chosen maximum of

Ember In The Ashes Sparknotes
Thank you to HarperCollins UK for providing me a copy of this book. An Ember in The Ashes is a
fantasy young adult book by Sabaa Tahir. It tells a story about Laia, a girl who lives in a place ruled by
the Martials. Laia is a Scholar and her people have been oppressed by the Empire for hundred years.
Meanwhile Elias is a young Martial man who trains as Empire s most deadly soldiers, the Mask. One
day, Laia s brother is taken away by the Empire and locked up in jail. Laia then tries to find a way to
save her brother by becoming a spy for a rebel group called the Resistance, on the Blackcliff academy.
Blackcliff academy is a school where they train Martials to become soldiers. On the other hand, Elias
was attempting to escape from turning into what he hates his whole life. But one surprising event
occurs that require him to stay at the academy and fight. Laia and Elias s lives cross path and they
might be the start of a revolution. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Empire is supposed to be based on Ancient Rome s society. They have clear separation on social
classes which determined on what race you are (Martials, Scholar, Tribal, etc.). Slavery and brutality

time at first to understand. There are just so many ranks with different functions and I m not good with

The Importance Of Cities In The Roman Empire
The importance of cities during Roman rule was unparalleled. With ever expanding colonization,
decentralization of government was invoked through the delegation of administrative functions to
local elites. Tax collection, military command through instructions, and occasionally acting as an
intermediary between competing local interests were a few roles carried out by these instrumental
leaders. They were the Publicans, of the equites class. These cities were a way for rules to organize
every citizen and also levy taxes to fund their expansion efforts, since most of the taxes went to the
military funds. Benefits in the city outweighed the minimum space you had in suburban areas in the
city of Rome there was a welfare system in place which was not available in smaller towns. Food was
exponentially more expensive compared to housing, and grain subsidies were such an important
institution that when Constantine moved the capital to Constantinople in the fourth century, he
instituted a grain subsidy which fed 80,000 people.1 A substantial portion of scientific breakthroughs
during these periods were deciphered in the city, where capable, well read inventors attempted to solve
the grievances of living in a dense population, and figuring out more efficient means of transportation
of goods. Also, these knowledgeable citizens generally resided in cities, not in suburban localities,
because of the abundance of resources and learning centers. An example of a breakthrough would be

The Pursuit Of Knowledge Depicted In Mary Shelley s...
When people think of Frankenstein, they usually think of a big scary monster. These people are
usually not educated, because if they were, they would know that Frankenstein was actually the
creator of the big scary monster . Frankenstein is a novel written by Mary Shelley that follows the
journey of a young scientist named Victor Frankenstein, who constructs a sentient creature in his quest
to create a living being. Mary Shelley portrays the themes of gender inequality, pursuit of knowledge,
and man playing God through her use of characters and events in Frankenstein.
The first major theme the novel illustrates is the oppression of women. This can be shown when
Walton expresses to his sister, Margaret, how he [has] no friend (Page 4).Through the feminist lens,
Walton is a privileged white male because he gets to travel ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

When Victor is in production of his monster, he says the creature s limbs were in proportion, and [he]
had selected his features as beautiful (Page 35). One of the characteristics that separate Victor from
God is how Victor only sees what s on the outside. He s astonished to perceive that his creation is
unattractive, and he can t see to figure out why. Maybe if Victor were actually a God, his creature
wouldn t be ugly. An alternative example of Victor s narcissistic thinking and constant comparisons to
almighty beings is when he states that a new species [will] bless [him] as its creator and source
including how many happy and excellent natures would owe their being to [him] (Page 32). He really
thinks he s the maker of a new species; a God. Though there are some similarities between Victor and
God, maybe Vicky Frank here should hop off his high horse for a little bit and breath in fresh air
called reality. To summarize this theme, Victor Frankenstein basically has a superiority

The Link Between The Term Pidgins Essay
SOCIOLIANGUISTICS
‫الرحيم‬ ‫الرحمن‬ ‫هللا‬ ‫بسم‬
PIDGINS IN SUDIAARABIA Pidgin could be defined as a language that results from two different
people who are not able to speak a each other language so they can interact with and understand each
other.
This is situation can be a result of different circumstances like war, colonization, slavery and
international trade.
Some definitions of pidgins although are pidgins have no static definitions : Ferguson (1971) refers to
pidgins and creoles as simplified speech used to communicate with people who are considered unable
to understand normal speech, such as babies or foreigners. One of the essential points that should be
clarified in this context is the link between the term pidgins. This linguistic variety is used in the
contact between two speech communities from two different linguistic backgrounds (Al Azraqi 2010;
Al Moaily, 2008).Bresnan and Roberts (2008:272) state that pidgins develop as auxiliary languages
and thus lack native communities, at least initially .
Although the contact is between two languages, the vocabulary of a pidgin comes particularly from
one dominant language called the lexifier or superstrate , while the non dominant language is called
the substrate (Al Moaily, 2008; Bizri, 2009; Al Azraqi, 2010). Pidgins also do not have a stable
grammatical structure and they are usually used specifically among adults for a short period of time
(Al Azraqi, 2010). However creoles are classified as more

Intelligent Design In Public Schools Research Paper
Teaching Intelligent Design in Public Schools
What is the difference between belief and ethics? Where is the line drawn between faith and law? This
is the debate fought by creationists and those who recognize evolution as true. The argument has been
thrown back and forth for years. But, the real question is, should intelligent design be taught in public
schools? In America, creationists believe that the world was created by a god, the majority of which is
made up of Christians, are usually the the people that believe in intelligent design. This Christian
theory states that all life on earth, and the earth itself, was created by an intelligent designer or god in
their present form. There are variations in belief including Young Earth Theory, ... Show more content

The opposition to this theory comes in part from those whose religious beliefs are contradicted by it,
those who claim that evolution is just a theory, and claim it is not a sound science because of the label.
To understand that evolution is true and reliable, the definition of the word theory in a scientific
context must first be understood. In Richard Dawkins The Greatest Show on Earth, this is explained,
The Oxford English Dictionary gives two meanings... Theory, Sense 1:... a hypothesis that has been
confirmed or established by observation or experiment, and is propounded or accepted as accounting
for the known facts... Theory, Sense 2: A hypothesis proposed as an explanation: hence, a mere
hypothesis, speculation, conjecture... It is proposed in this book that scientists and creationists are
using these definitions in different contexts. Creationists use the second sense of the word theory,
meaning a speculation of no value, and scientists use it in sense one, that of a proven hypothesis. In
science the word theory is surpassed only by the word law in the sense of conveying certainty. In
science, a theory is a hypothesis that has never been disproven, such as the theory of gravity.
Evolution has been proven many times over through both observation and experiment, which is the
reason it is taught in public schools. Though it has uncountable examples, only a fraction will be
mentioned. Transitional fossils are one of the major concerns on the part of creationists. They use gaps
in the fossils record to argue its unreliability. Transitional fossils are the species that lie in between the
transition from one species to its ancestor or descendant. When these fossils are missing, it can seem
far fetched for a whale to develop from a land dwelling dog like animal, but when the fossils in
between these two species are discovered, the transition becomes clearer. Though

What Is The Future Of America s Future
In my opinion, the future of the United States of America will end up being a technology filled,
horrifying place. Most of the time, people of America will think that this country is getting better and
better each day, but this is very incorrect. To explain, studies show that ever since the 1960 s, the
United States has become worse every year in categories such as the use of cell phones, obesity, and
conflicts between different groups. These categories are only some of the problems/issues that this
country is dealing with at the moment and the more we grow in years, the worse these issues will get.
Also, many people will agree and disagree with my statement, but most of the people who disagree
secretly know that this world is becoming a horrible place. Also, to clarify, I never meant to say that
this country is becoming corrupt in every category. This country is doing great in some categories
such as American education and the United States defense system. ... Show more content on

America Needs Its Nerds Rhetorical Analysis
Leonid Fridman, the author of the article, America Need Its Nerds in the New York Times, addresses
how geeks and nerd are portrayed negatively in American society. He asserts the faults in American
society s values in order to convince the readers of the New York Times to appreciate the intellectually
curious instead of degrading them. Fridman integrates logos, ethos, and pathos to support his objective
of persuading the readers of the New York Times to acknowledge the intellectuals rather than
patronizing them.

Federal Theater Project Essay
The 20th Century was home to many important events in history, one of the most memorable being
The Great Depression. Unemployment was at an all time high, businesses were forced to shut down,
and suicide rates were through the roof. New York City was no exception. 213 of it s 253 theaters
were forced to close, putting hundreds of thousands of theater people out of work. In these devastating
times, a hopeless yet admirable organization known as the Federal Theatre Project (FTP) was created
by request of President Roosevelt. Originally created to preserve music and art, this project consumed
government funds, was plagued by censorship, and was blatantly biased in social issues, with the end
result being far from it s original goal. Created by Harry Hopkins, the FTP had one main goal: Free,
adult, uncensored theater. In the short amount of time this project was actually afloat, it recreated
dozens of theaters, gave over 12,000 people jobs, and succeeded in one of their main goals by
admitting 78% of people for free. This may sound nice and peachy, but there was one big issue: There
was absolutely no money to be made. The commercial theater had been trying unsuccessfully to gain
government backing for a financially devastated Broadway as early as 1930, but using Federal ...

Malaga Island History
Malaga Island is located at the mouth of New Meadows River in Phippsburg, Maine. Within the last
1,000 years, Native Americans inhabited the 42 acres rocky and rugged island. Not a lot is known
about how the inhabitants lived, but now there are lots known about the later residents that occupied
the island s northern part from the 1860s to 1912. One of the possible origins traced back to an African
American man named Benjamin Darling. In 1794, he bought Horse Island which is now known as
Harbor Island, located near Malaga Island. All of Darling s descendants and families started to live on
the island, but Fatima Darling Griffin and Henry Griffin were the first ones to live on Malaga Island.

The Tragebility Of Othello In Act 1 Scene III
Othello s nobility is undisputable within the first few acts. In Act 1 Scene I Shakespeare characterizes
Othello indirectly through others opinions; Iago refers to Othello as an old black ram , a Barbary horse
and a devil , Roderigo similarly uses debasing imagery and language to describe Othello: thicklips .
The only information the audience has about Othello at this time is the vulgar description of a barbaric
outsider from Roderigo and Iago; this is in sharp contrast to the noble character we meet just one
scene later. Othello in Act 1 Scene II is noble, calm and both confident and humble. When he learns
that Desdemona s father, Brabantio, is coming for revenge his response is calm and confident:
Let him do his spite;
My services, which I have done the signiory,
Shall out tongue his complaints .
Iago urges Othello to leave as Brabantio approaches them; Othello refuses and stands his ground,
highlighting his confidence and his nobility:
Not I, I must be found. My parts, my title and my perfect soul
Shall manifest me rightly
When violence is brewing between the characters in Act 1 Scene II Othello becomes the peacemaker

Comparing Platyrrhine And Euroasia
Modern non human anthropoids consist of New and Old World monkeys and the great and lesser apes
that inhabit a range of environments throughout North and South America, Africa, and Euroasia. At
least 90% of the anthropoid population consists of monkeys. There are two distinct Parvorders of
anthropoids that have been evolving independent of each other for at least 30,000,000 years: the
Platyrrhine and the Catarrhine. These two diverse groups of species can be distinguished from each
other most easily based on the form of their noses and by the number of specific types of teeth. Today,
Old World monkey habitats range from tropical jungles to semiarid deserts and seasonally snow
covered areas throughout Africa and South East Asia. In comparison, ... Show more content on

Current ideas suggest that the common ancestor of humans and African apes lived only about 5 8
million years ago; so, for more than 50 million years, humans and the African apes have shared
primate ancestry. Within this ancestry, a new level of movement began to come into existence known
as bipedalism: the ability to walk and run upright on two legs. There are various theories about when
our ancestors started walking upright, but a popular view is that perhaps about 7 million years ago,
early hominids began to adapt to a climate that was cooling globally. The huge rainforest expanses in
Africa were being replaced with savannah and patches of woodland, requiring the tree climbing apes
to become more adept at walking on land. Our ancestors who ventured out into the savannah were
rewarded with roots, shrubs and occasional animal carcasses, ensuring that those who walked on two
legs were more likely to survive. Even so, the jump from trees to land is not all that significant
because some of the early hominids anatomical structures may have already been pre adapted to
bipedalism while climbing trees and stretching for fruit. Bipedalism primarily allowed hominids to
free their arms completely, enabling them to make and use tools efficiently, stretch for fruit in trees
and use their hands for social

Justice In Ancient Civilizations
Since the beginning of time, society imposes us different rules of etiquettes that we need to follow.
Keep your mouth close while eating, be polite with older people, hold the door for ladies etc... These
are actual ones but its interesting to see the evolution of the etiquette through time. At a certain point
in the middle age, it was convenable to burp as loudly as you can after eating to show your host that
the food was good. In fact, the rules of etiquettes are strongly linked with social values like respect.
Other social values were really important in ancient civilizations. Despite the lack of organisation of
their societies, justice and religion were concerns for every leader of these civilizations. In this
argumentative essay, I will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As we seen in the first paragraph, many books of law have been created to regulate many activities or
forbid others. Ancient Egypt has their book of the dead, Ancient Mesopotamia their Hammurabi s
code and ancient Hittites had a pretty similar book of law created by using Hammurabi s code has a
base . It s interesting how these texts are advanced for the time they were written. Has a leader, you
need a way to spread these ideas through all the civilization. They did it without printers or social
network, this is pretty impressive. Some surprising policies have been made following this justice
concept. For example, Eye for an eye law was made by Mesopotamians to penalized the criminal by
doing him the same thing he did or something equivalent. In our modern society, we would think this
is horrible and this practice would be forbidden but in these times, it s a way to increase justice and
make their world more equal. Moreover, using a strong military system, Greek civilizations like
Sparta have a justice system based on their military order. Some could say that this is not justice
because there is not really an establish system but the will to regulate activities of the population is a
form of justice for me. In brief, civilizations are sharing the same justice desire but use different

Reading The Early Church Fathers Chapter 1 Summary
The doctrine of Trinity has been taking shape over the centuries, beginning from the early church
fathers. To discuss the development of the doctrine, I will use Reading the Early Church Fathers, a
recommended text for this course and Trinity 101, a required text, by Dr. Jim Papandrea. The paper
will focus on the Christology and ways through which the doctrines began to develop over the
centuries, especially during the second and third centuries.
In his book, Reading the Early Church Fathers, Dr. Papandrea points out that during the fourth
century, the Adoptionism had emerged in its full form, but before this took shape, there were other
theologians like Irenaeus of Lyons. After the apostles, he is said to be the first theologian. It was
during the second century that he argued against Gnosticism. It is said that he wrote a document in
189 c, to support his argument against Gnosticism. He strived to help his readers understand that the

because of philosophy. He used the roman legal terms and applied with theology. Tertullian
understood that God is a combination of three people and that combination he named was Trinity. He
used another word that is legal and that is Substantia which is defined as substance. Using the word

National Strategic Guidance And The Global Security...
General Dempsey articulated the United States military is the premier global military with a decisive
military advantage but dominance just doesn t happen necessitating the United States military to
maintain the decisive edge. Dempsey s statement is the catalyst for the premise of Joint Force 2025 in
which the United States military embarks upon a transition and rebalance to address a wide continuum
of emerging threats to our nation s national interests in the foreseeable future. Dempsey correctly
states that adaptation and innovation are essential to the Joint Force 2025 as we have to out learn and
out think our adversaries. This essay will recommend general capabilities of Joint Force 2025 which
are necessary to transition and rebalance the force based on strategic guidance and the global security
environment which provides the combatant commander with right sized capabilities in support of the
nation s strategic interests. Utilization of national strategic guidance will lay the foundation for the
assessment of each service s general capabilities in support of Joint Force 2025 while also appraising
risk implications in the foreseeable global security environment.
The 2014 Quadrennial Defense Review (QDR) clearly states the path forward for the United States
military consists of adaption, reshaping and rebalancing the force in a fiscally constrained
environment while actively defending the homeland, building security globally and projecting power
and winning decisively.

Women s Own Social Order
INTRODUCTION
For a long time, women have no freedom of speech, as feminist critics have said, always trying to
steal our language. Feminist Cixous believes that language is the main control of the power of culture
and ways of thinking, to overthrow patriarchal control, we must start from the critique of language:
Everything starts words: everything is word, and only word can help us to give back our rights
(Cixous). Everyone put their thinking into words, like any political ideology must use language to
express. However women never have their right of speech because they are not able to escape from
the control of men, and they have no idea of how to change the domination of patriarchy society. To
establish women s own social order, American radical feminism have even tried to emphasized the
transformation of an existing language to female centric language system in order to replace the old
patriarchal language system; and American writer Gilman used her famous short story the yellow
wallpaper in late nineteen centuries to put up a banner of feminism, she is not only to describe the real
situation of women and created a strategical narrative to against the patriarchy: drilling into men s
thought and reveals it s abominable and obsolete social norms.

During these years, the shark attack issue has been a controversial topic around Australia, where it has

predators in the world. There is some evidence to suggest that the number of sharks declines rapidly
every year. According to the research paper Collapse and Conservation of Shark Populations in the

Statistical Data For Forecasting Future Staffing
A wide selection of statistical methods is available for use in Human Resources forecasting. Out of the
many techniques some of the prominent ones include, trend, ratio, and regression analysis methods.
Trend Analysis:
Essentially, trend analysis, looks at previous employment levels against business variables to predict
future staffing requirements. All the more, trend analysis uses historical data for forecasting future
staffing needs. Likewise, trend analysis creates a relationship between past and future staffing needs.
Trend analysis is appliedwhen organizations have data mostly on historical staffing levels with less
detailed information on specific predictions. The breaking down of data into specific time periods of
demand are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A trend analysis allows the human resources department and the owner of the organization to pinpoint
the main causes and issues affecting the rate at which employees leave a workforce and are replaced.
Further, it pinpoints how these actions impact the business. Trend analysis results can help in
estimating the complexity and supply of skills that may be available in the future and from there make
projections about future workforce requirements (Lohrey, (n.d.)..
A trend analysis generates both quantitative and qualitative data outcomes. While quantitative data is
most valuable for making staffing predictions, qualitative data is useful in a diversity of ways. It can
help you discover why employees leave and why they choose to stay. Furthermore, this information
can be crucial in creating employee engagement initiatives that are intended to increase morale,
employee satisfaction and, most of all, productivity. It can also help you determine whether additional
training is required to develop current employee skill sets to improve retention rates (Woltmann
Whitley, 2007).
Moreover, trend analysis is more suited for an existing business because it requires historical staffing
data to make future staffing projections and predictions. Likewise, this generates an association
between past and future staffing needs by connecting the two using a performance or financial metric
called an operational

The last tree is cut down, the tree crashes and all that is left is you and the dark black hills that used to

The Lorax. the Once ler cuts down all the Truffula trees for their leaves. . .fluff. . . tufts or whatever
they are called. He used them to make thneeds a Fine Something That All People Need The Lorax
warns him but the Once ler s greed got to him. This is the same story that goes throughout the book
and the movie. Although there are numerous similarities between the two there are bountiful
differences too.
The book The Lorax written by Theodor Seuss Geisel is well written. The plot is about a boy who
goes out of town to visit the Once ler due to curiosity of how the land got destroyed. The Once ler
went on to tell the story about how he destroys the land. The story is mostly about how he, the Once
ler cuts down all the Truffula trees without the thought of what could happen. He goes completely
against the Lorax rather than making friends with him. He then realizes what he has done and felt bad.
The book was mostly set where the Truffula trees are (past the town) it shows how beautiful the land
is then how it got destroyed. There are a lot of character differences such as the book mostly has
characters with first person point of view. The boy who goes to see the Once ler was never given a

terrible things God is gracious and merciful.
I believe the book of Jonah intends to teach us that God is a gracious and merciful Lord who will grant
salvation to those who desire to repent, by the virtue of; accepting the Lord with all your heart, mind,
and soul. This idea is evident by the content of the book. First, we understand that one cannot seek
God and flee from him simultaneously. He wants us to obey his will even if adversity chooses to arise.
However, Jonah refuses the Lord s will and chooses to disobey him. Consequently, Jonah is thrown
overboard and swallowed by a fish. Although, once Jonah prays for forgiveness the Lord grants it.
Subsequently, Jonah preaches the gospel and the king of Nineveh as well as his people repent to the
Lord and forgives. This angers Jonah, even though the Lord forgave Jonah of his atrocious act just as
he did with the Ninevites. In conclusion, we learn that if we repent and obey the Lord s calling, God

floors of the barracks and moved the NCOs to the last two floors. He also managed to have the staff
duty runner and staff duty NCO increase the number of barracks checks throughout their shifts. I do
not remember exactly how much time elapsed before he invited the section out to Pizza Hut so he

Character Analysis Of Captain Nemo
Character Analysis Captain Nemo is remembered as one of the greatest anti heroes in all of science
fiction. The commander of the Nautilus is brilliantly mysterious, and a sinister character who still
shows signs of sorrow. He seems to be at war with humanity, yet gives back to the poor. The name
Nemo means no one in latin, which only increases the uncertainty surrounding the captain. Captain
Nemo first describes himself by saying I am not what you call a civilised man! I [am] done with
society entirely, for reasons which I alone have the right of appreciating. I do not... obey its laws, and I
desire you never to allude to them before me again! (Verne, 57). The outright anger displayed by
Nemo alludes to his hatred of society, and sheds light on the reasoning of his self imposed exile.
Nemo s efforts to separate himself and his men from society is shown in the burial process for his
dead crew members. Instead of burying his men on land, Nemo buries them in a massive underwater
burial, to keep them safe from sharks and men (Verne, 150). Out of respect toward the bodies and in
an almost , Nemo believes it is just as important to keep the dead bodies out of the reach of humans as
it is to prevent them from being eaten by sharks. Although Nemo goes through great effort to isolate
himself from civilization, signs of compassion towards humanity in his character through his actions

Inventions And Inventions Of The United States
Imagine a time when the only way to get around was by riding a horse, or a time when the only way to
get in contact with someone was sending a letter, or a time when the only way to dig a hole was using
a shovel, during the mid 19th century young innovators, Alfred Nobel, Samuel Morse, and Thomas
Edison developed machines that made doing all that easier. Inventions and innovations like dynamite,
the railroads, and the telegraph helped the United States economy grow. Scientist developed, a railroad
that connected New York City to San Francisco, a telegraph that could send messages across long
distances within minutes, and dynamite which could blow up anything along its path. The United
States had a small, weak, economy, until the mid 1800s when inventions and innovations united and
strengthened the economy.
From the beginning of time, people have invented things and innovated to help expand their economy.
Gunpowder, the printing press, language, the wheel, pottery, post offices, and man made bridges are
all examples of inventions that led to economic growth. In 1800 prior to railroads, the only practical
way to travel and trade across long distances was along the nation s natural waterways (Metzner 1).
People could not work too far from home, travel , or even visit family that lived far away. Even

Growing Up In A Town Of Inbreds Analysis
How Growing Up in a Town of Inbreds Changed Who I Am Language is found all around us. It can be

language can tell a lot about where a person grew up. The concept of language telling a lot about the
ways an individual was raised can be seen in my own life, as well as in Carmen Fought s article

arrangement as the baiting arenas, but had a secure stage as well as a cobbled floor as opposed to the
original dirt ground to allow for plays to be held in any kind of weather. Although the main purpose of
this new type of theater, the amphitheater, was to house plays, bear baiting could also still be
conveniently held in the same structure, providing for both gamblers and the new show business. The
importance of the creation of the amphitheater was the easy transition that it delivered for the English
Renaissance to take place. When popularity began to shift from bull and bear baiting to the acting
industry, the amphitheater that was produced was perfect for the English people who enjoyed both to
continue doing so. The baiting rings were an essential factor in contributing to the new age of the
Renaissance that allowed for the English culture to

Not Protecting the Right of Homosexual Marriage Endangers the Rights of Others
Civil marriage is enjoyed by all people in society; all people that is, excluding the ones that find love
in the form of their own gender. These people are being denied the basic right of engaging in legally
bound matrimony. Laws, such as this one, have been created time and time again, mostly by ignorant
bigots, only to be dissolved when finally seen as immoral and unjust in the eyes of someone without
hatred in their heart. It should be considered a crime in itself to deny access to an institution that has
no one true concrete definition; but instead much diversity, which America has depended on and built
from for over a 1000 years. There are at least ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
And while this is the most applied law, it stands still unclear. The bible calls homosexuality an
abolishment , but also says, Let us therefore no longer pass judgment on one another, but resolve
#8230;nothing is unclean in itself; but unclean for anyone who thinks it unclean (Romans 14:13 13).
Also, when Americans were told that they would have freedom of religion, does not that sanctify
freedom from religion as well? People wanting to engage in same sex marriage are not asking for all
religions to accept their vows. They ask merely for tolerance and the ability to recite them so that they
mean something, legally. They ask for simple civil equality in the pursuit of happiness (Jefferson 200)
among themselves, the United States citizens.
A dispute that frequently appears in court over same sex marriage is the question of what marriage is
in it s self. Marriages exist in many forms that cannot fit into a universal mold. There are relationships
consisting of one man and numerous women called polygamy. Relationships with one woman and
many men called polyandry (Halsall 1). Some are age dissonant with a full grown man marrying a
woman when she is around thirteen years old and some are closer in age but the two have

Child Protective Service And Mental Health Problems Essay
Introduction Being able to cope within a family is very important. Family members can cause great
strain on each other, especially, when individuals of such family suffer from mental health problems
and disability. After reading Andrea s case study, it is very clear that this family has a lot going on. A
mother and father who are both unemployed as mom suffers from anxiety and depression, which have
led her to be hospitalized a few times due to attempting suicide and dad who is now 33 years old and
had an accident at the age of 14 which left him with only one good functioning hand. They raise a son
by the name of Vincent, who is now 9 years old, however, he is autistic and also suffers from chronic
asthma. Andrea has custody of Vincent furthermore, she is unable to care for him because of her
illness and with her many visits to the hospital which have caused her to become hospitalized. This
has left an impression on child protective service as they feel she is an unfit mother because she is
unable to control her illness. Even though Andrea loves her son dearly, she is aware that with her
conditions she might not be able to care for him, even though Vincent was so attached to her. Vincent
was eventually taken from her and place with The Department of Child Protection in order to ensure
his safety. One theory I believe can be useful within this case study is Family Systems Theory. This
theory helps families to understand the root of their problem rather than blaming the issue

Ben Carson Essay
The constitution is being trampled on by its own constitutes and the foundation of this nation is
crumbling. Ben Carson is an African American world renowned neurosurgeon that was born in Detroit
Michigan and was raised by a single mother with limited education. Growing up in poverty Carson
has beaten the odds by rising like the phoenix and achieving some of society s most prestigious
awards such as the Spingarn Medal from the NAACP, presented in 2006. And The Fords Theater
Lincoln Medal, presented in 2004. Giver for showing qualities embodied by President Abraham
Lincoln. I believe that Ben Carson is the best candidate to become the next President of the United

His gifted hands have literally fed thousands of families over the course of decades as eh himself was
no stranger to hunger. Also as a father of three young men Carson is passionate about improving
economic inequality and advocates moving forward in spite of your circumstances. As a sponsor for
over twenty underprivileged literacy programs such as The Reading Room and The Ben Carson Youth
Educational Fund just to name a few his awareness that the children are our future is commendable.
We need a President with the compassion, empathy and understanding for the American people. I
reiterate that Carson is an excellent candidate for 2016 presidential race. One could argue that these
same attributes that make him the best candidates could also make him the worst. Here are a few
examples: Carson is a humanitarian, who could never turn away thousands of refugees escaping social
and economic injustice. So in the event that our country is in need of a ferocious leader, would soft
spoken, extremely apologetic Carson be able to push the button? As quoted in a CNN interview with
Anderson Cooper I am not the man you would probably want in a big

Besides The Enjoyment Of Helping Others, I Want To Become
Besides the enjoyment of helping others, I want to become a Human Service worker to provide the
assistance that was not available to me while I was growing up. I don t just want to help people; I also
want to save a specific group of people that I sense are in danger. From personal experience living in a
dangerous neighborhood in the Bronx, I feel that my knowledge and experiences will enhance my
effectiveness in this field, because I can comprehend what my client is going through and what are
their everyday struggle since I personally been through it myself. Having good social and

Even though my entire family is very strict, sadly not everyone of us turned out to be perfect, and that
one was my brother. Attending college since 2014 I finally declared my major early in 2016, which is
Human Services. After a lot of research and observing I can happily say I believe I chose the right
major for me. You re currently reading my professional essay and this will inform on why Human
Services is the right major for me.
2. Being a young minority in the Bronx is honestly not easy at all. We face a lot of situations from
being discriminated to deficiency of opportunities. Facing these issues especially in a low income area
like most neighborhoods in the Bronx, it forces minorities into wrongful paths. A perfect example of
this is my brother, Edwin. Being the oldest and raised into speaking Spanish only he was bullied while
growing up and wasn t presented much opportunities due to the fact that he didn t speak English. This
slowly led him to turn into gangs for protection and earning money the easiest way he can get it, this
later led to him into getting incarcerated for numerous of crimes. I m informing my readers with this
because Edwin is not what but who influenced me into pursuing a career in Human Services. I want to
provide help for minorities in the Bronx, I want to be able to present opportunities for those in need of
some. After doing some research on Human Services I gradually learned how counselors

ABSTRACT
The decision support tool viz. SDSM (Statistical Downscaling Model) was used to downscale climate

the A1B scenario was adjusted by using observed climatic data recorded during the period 1985 2015
for the region. The data from the same period was taken as the baseline for the analysis. This data was
thereon analyzed for monthly, seasonal, cropping season and annual periods to enumerate the variation
of maximum temperature, minimum temperature and precipitation in Kashmir valley of Jammu
Kashmir state in the 21st century. The modelled data obtained exhibited no significant change in
maximum and minimum temperature for the period 2021 2050 but for the same period increase in
annual precipitation was exhibited. For the period 2051 2100, decreasing trend of annual temperature
was exhibited whereas for annual precipitation, an increasing trend was exhibited.

Saving Private Ryan
I got a bad feeling about this one. When was the last time you felt good about anything? This is the
exact same feeling I got after I witnessed this horrific film. The film Saving Private Ryan is based on a
rescue mission to find Private Ryan after all of his brothers were killed in action. Directed by Steven
Spielberg and starring starts such as Tom Hanks and Matt Damon, the film is notable for its accurate
re enactments of WW2 battles. Because of these accurate WW2 battles, Saving private Ryan has won
various awards. Due to the film having an incredibly relatable setting to those in WW2. The scenes in
this film puts you in the first person truth which links us to the horror of war and tragedy of warfare.

The cinematographer, Janusz Kaminski, who also shot Schindler s List, brings a newsreel feel to a lot
of the footage. He manages to make everything visually intelligent. Amongst the chaos of the D day
landing scenes, kaminski focuses on the attack on the stationed machine gun nests, and a prolonged
sequence of a defensive actions on the bridge. The cinematographer does this is a way that keeps us
oriented. When the exposition comes into play, it leaves the audience with a post war reaction as to
how soldiers who came back from war reacted when they see their dead comrades... And how they
hope that was enough. I hope that, at least in your eyes, I ve earned what all of you have done for me
quote from older Private Ryan. The editing is impeccable. They have made sure that the intensity of
events in the film is like a roller coaster. One minute you re laughing and the next shook silently,
planted in your seat. They even make sure that even events without sound have a lot of impact. For
instance, when Cpt. Miller gets shell shock the impact of editing shows cut scenes, editing makes us
experience what shell shock during is like during the war. The sound effects and the use of dialogue is
outstanding and very realistic as well. They make it feel as if you re in a war zone. You could open
your door, listen to sound effects and you swear it s the 6th of June

The Main Factors Of The Spanish Inquisition In Spain
The Spanish Inquisition affected Spain s national Identify as it was the first time that Spain ever
encountered an Inquisition with the soul purpose of getting rid of all hersey including any of those
who converted from Judaism and Islam to Christian. There were three huge factors on why the
Inquisition every started in Spain, the main factor was that it allowed the christian leaders to conquer
Spain and take any control away that the Muslim authority had before. Another key factor is that it
caused a huge rivalry between two young kings of France and Spain. The last factor was that it unified
two kingdoms under the leadership of the newly married monarchs, Isabella I and Ferdinand II. The

Why Did Lord Chamberlain s Men Use The Globe Theater
During this time period, there were not any televisions, cell phones, or computers. Because of this
people relied on the theater to keep them entertained. Though officially approved playhouses and
acting companies had only been around for about five years The Lord Chamberlain s Men was one of
the two acting companies that were permitted to perform in London city limits. Lord Chamberlain s
Men used the globe theater, while the other group used the Rose Playhouse which was owned by an
impresario and his son in law who was a former actor. In 1576 the Blackfriars Theater was built, but
Lord Chamberlain s Men could not use it to perform in. This is why the Globe Theater was built in
1598, though they could not finish the original construction because

The Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) was a program that employed millions of young, unmarried
men on environmental projects during the Great Depression from 1933 1942. The CCC was one of
FDR s most popular and most successful New Deal programs. It employed 300,000 men that helped
plant over three billion trees, constructed nature trails in more than 800 parks around the United
States, and shaped the national parks we enjoy today (History.com). The CCC s impact can be noticed
everyday all around the nation. The book Hitch by Jeanette Ingold is historically accurate with its
portrayal of the Civilian Conservation Corps. This CCC stuff is just temporary for me, to bring in a

Compton is pretty angry in this quote because he is working beside criminals. In fact, Moss had been
arrested for trespassing on railroad property. A lot of men and women were arrested for petty crimes,
and many were sent to the CCC to get them off of the streets and to give people something to do.
According to ccclegacy.com, one Chicago judge felt the CCC was largely responsible for the large
reduction in crime. The CCC gave young men a job, taught them skills, and provided them with a lot
of benefits. It gave them a sense of self worth and value as they helped their families, it helped the
communities they worked in, and it boosted their own self esteem. Having real work to do charged up

CCC specifically targeted young men, providing them with employment, food, and shelter. These
young men often sent money home to their families. In exchange, the men received training and
education that would stay with the throughout their lives. Besides economic benefits, the CCC also
provided a lasting legacy in our country. There are 16 parks that were built by the CCC in South

  • 2. Disadvantages Of Big Data Introduction Big Data is the new buzzword recently discussed highly in industry, academia and research as it was generated profusely due to the technology revolution caused by Internet of Things (IoT).Knowledge Management being a strategic process carried out in industry with great focus was seriously impacted by the Big Data and its analytics as they were interchangeability used in various context relating to Information and Knowledge Management. The reason is none other than the significance of Data in the KM system, as a tool that link people, technology and processes. As the Data increased in its size, speed, variety, complexity and variability it became Big Data . Several explanations were given about the buzzword Big Data . Big Data describes a process in which serious computing power is applied to seriously massive and often highly complex sets of information (Microsoft Research, 2013). Big data is also defined as a cultural, technological, and scholarly phenomenon based on three elements such as Technology, Analysis and Mythology (Boyd and Crawford, 2012). The first reason behind the quick expansion of Big Data is the extensive degree to which data are created, shared and utilized across the organizations and virtual networks formally and informally in the recent times. Digitization, that is, the transformation of analogue signals into digital ones, reached massive popularity in the early 1990s. The data information knowledge wisdom hierarchy offers an alternative view, according to which information appears as data that are structured in a way to be useful and relevant to a specific purpose (Rowley, ... • 3. Country Dancing Research Paper Country 1 Writing Assignment Dance Attended: Friday April 28th County Dance in WB112 Fundraiser for OSU Equestrian team 7:45 11:00pm Attending this dance was quite a memorable experience. I went with some ballroom dance friends and my friend Mary, who is in Country 1 with me. I didn t realize it was a fundraiser until I asked the people checking it in what the funds went toward; it was wonderful to learn that the OSU equestrian was raising money for a national competition. There were only a few people when we arrived, but as the night pushed on, the gym filled up and the floor was full of people in cowboy boots. Some people did come to the dance slightly intoxicated, but not so much that they weren t able to dance properly. Another interesting thing is that many ballroom dancers, who are on the technique team with me, are very good at country dancing and go to almost all of the Country Dance Club events! ... One thing I noticed is that having a good lead who has a little more experience country dancing makes dancing very fun. I danced Schottische with both Andrews in our Country 1 class. Andrew and I taught some ballroom students how to do Schottische, and it wasn t as hard to teach as I thought it would be! Schottische is probably my favorite non line dance. The line dances were my favorite part, and will continue to be my favorite part of the country dances. I learned a lot of new ones and taught the ones I did know to my ballroom dance friends. I loved watching people dance the more complex line dances and get so into it! Wild Wild West is especially fun to watch because it is a little different than the other line ... This article talks about the study of the Dunbar Cave in Montgomery County, Tennessee to learn more about the varied ways that the cave was used by people. Many of the artifacts that was in the cave linked its usage time to be from the Late Paleo Indian to the Mississippian period. The article define dark zone cave art as the decorations in the areas of the caves that is beyond the reach of external lights . Mug Glyph Cave art was found in the 12th Unnamed Cave in Tennessee and since then sixty nine other caves that had dark zone cave art were found. The artifacts and chronological data from these sites indicates that the tradition of cave art began 6000 years ago. In 2005 one of the author join a group of explorers search for more ... The article main idea was to showed the prehistoric uses of the Dunbar Cave in Montgomery County, Tennessee. I liked the article because the authors gave a good enough background information so that the reader can understand it. They also define some of the vocabulary that was used so that the reader completely understand what they were talking about. The article also included tables and detail information on what the table is talking about. For example, one of the table is about the Radiocarbon age determination from the Dunbar cave. At first glance the information is very confusing, but after a while I can see what the authors was referring to and where they got their information from. One of the problem that the article had was when they were interpreting one of the pictograph. After reading the descriptions I went back and look at the image, I could not see what they authors were referring to. I realized that most of the pictures needed interpretation, but sometimes I feel like the interpretations of the pictographs is a little of to how the authors wants the readers to see it. Fruit and Hydroponics Hydroponics Introduction NAME HERE and I became fascinated by hydroponics and the idea that one doesn t have to get their hands dirty to be a great gardener, and if your like us that s a good thing. The idea of hydroponics has been around since the pyramids where build, but in all these years it never seemed to catch on. It took about forty six hundred years before the first scientist took a look at hydroponics and adapted it to grow crops, this was a professor at the University of California, and the result was a 25 foot tomato plant that had to be harvest by a ladder. Thus hydroponics was reborn and has been advancing ever since. Yet up to 5 years ago the home grower and generally the public didn t know about hydroponics. It was ... This plant may have only grown 7cm but it has a diameter of 6cm, which may be smaller than the peas but in my opinion the tomatoes look way more healthier than the peas, because the leaves on the tomatoes are bigger and have a nicer shade of green. Peas(The vegetable)results This plant came in at a close third. It has a length of 13cm. Even though it has a longer stem than the tomatoes it was our opinion that the peas weren t as healthy looking as the tomatoes were. Some of its leaves where green, but some had unhealthy looking spots on them. Tinkerbell(The flower)results The results of this plant wasn t very good at all. Not only did this plant come in dead last but it also looks almost dead. It grow about 1cm in the first week and just kind of stopped there. Summary To summarize this project, I would have to say that it was a success. Since we have answer the problem of which plant thrives the greatest. Obviously, the bean, our legume is the best by far and the tomatoes our fruit is second the peas our vegetable are third, and dwindling in last the last place the all non mighty flower the tinkerbell. Nt1310 Unit 5 Agression Analysis Paper As a simple illustration of a k means algorithm, consider the following data set consisting of the scores of two variables on each of seven individuals: Subject A B 1 1.0 1.0 2 1.5 2.0 3 3.0 4.0 4 5.0 7.0 5 3.5 5.0 6 4.5 5.0 7 3.5 4.5 This data set is to be grouped into two clusters. As a first step in finding a sensible initial partition, let the A B values of the two individuals furthest apart (using the Euclidean distance measure), define the initial cluster means, giving: Individual Mean Vector (centroid) Group 1 1 (1.0, 1.0) Group 2 4 (5.0, 7.0) The remaining individuals are now examined in sequence and allocated to the cluster to which they are closest, in terms of Euclidean distance to the cluster mean. In other words, each individual s distance to its own cluster mean should be smaller that the distance to the other cluster s mean (which is not the case with individual 3). Thus, individual 3 is relocated to Cluster 2 resulting in the new partition: Individual Mean Vector (centroid) Cluster 1 1, 2 (1.3, 1.5) Cluster 2 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 (3.9, 5.1) The iterative relocation would now continue from this new partition until no more relocations occur. However, in this example each individual is now nearer its own cluster mean than that of the other cluster and the iteration stops, choosing the latest partitioning as the final cluster solution. Also, it is possible that the k means algorithm won t find a final solution. In this case it would be a good idea to consider stopping the algorithm after a pre chosen maximum of ... • 9. The Importance Of Cities In The Roman Empire The importance of cities during Roman rule was unparalleled. With ever expanding colonization, decentralization of government was invoked through the delegation of administrative functions to local elites. Tax collection, military command through instructions, and occasionally acting as an intermediary between competing local interests were a few roles carried out by these instrumental leaders. They were the Publicans, of the equites class. These cities were a way for rules to organize every citizen and also levy taxes to fund their expansion efforts, since most of the taxes went to the military funds. Benefits in the city outweighed the minimum space you had in suburban areas in the city of Rome there was a welfare system in place which was not available in smaller towns. Food was exponentially more expensive compared to housing, and grain subsidies were such an important institution that when Constantine moved the capital to Constantinople in the fourth century, he instituted a grain subsidy which fed 80,000 people.1 A substantial portion of scientific breakthroughs during these periods were deciphered in the city, where capable, well read inventors attempted to solve the grievances of living in a dense population, and figuring out more efficient means of transportation of goods. Also, these knowledgeable citizens generally resided in cities, not in suburban localities, because of the abundance of resources and learning centers. An example of a breakthrough would be the ... These people are usually not educated, because if they were, they would know that Frankenstein was actually the creator of the big scary monster . Frankenstein is a novel written by Mary Shelley that follows the journey of a young scientist named Victor Frankenstein, who constructs a sentient creature in his quest to create a living being. Mary Shelley portrays the themes of gender inequality, pursuit of knowledge, and man playing God through her use of characters and events in Frankenstein. The first major theme the novel illustrates is the oppression of women. He s astonished to perceive that his creation is unattractive, and he can t see to figure out why. Maybe if Victor were actually a God, his creature wouldn t be ugly. An alternative example of Victor s narcissistic thinking and constant comparisons to almighty beings is when he states that a new species [will] bless [him] as its creator and source including how many happy and excellent natures would owe their being to [him] (Page 32). The Link Between The Term Pidgins Essay SOCIOLIANGUISTICS ‫الرحيم‬ ‫الرحمن‬ ‫هللا‬ ‫بسم‬ PIDGINS IN SUDIAARABIA Pidgin could be defined as a language that results from two different people who are not able to speak a each other language so they can interact with and understand each other. This is situation can be a result of different circumstances like war, colonization, slavery and international trade. Some definitions of pidgins although are pidgins have no static definitions : Ferguson (1971) refers to pidgins and creoles as simplified speech used to communicate with people who are considered unable to understand normal speech, such as babies or foreigners. One of the essential points that should be clarified in this context is the link between the term pidgins. This linguistic variety is used in the contact between two speech communities from two different linguistic backgrounds (Al Azraqi 2010; Al Moaily, 2008).Bresnan and Roberts (2008:272) state that pidgins develop as auxiliary languages and thus lack native communities, at least initially . Although the contact is between two languages, the vocabulary of a pidgin comes particularly from one dominant language called the lexifier or superstrate , while the non dominant language is called the substrate (Al Moaily, 2008; Bizri, 2009; Al Azraqi, 2010). Pidgins also do not have a stable grammatical structure and they are usually used specifically among adults for a short period of time (Al Azraqi, 2010). However creoles are classified as more ... • 13. Intelligent Design In Public Schools Research Paper Teaching Intelligent Design in Public Schools What is the difference between belief and ethics? Where is the line drawn between faith and law? This is the debate fought by creationists and those who recognize evolution as true. The argument has been thrown back and forth for years. But, the real question is, should intelligent design be taught in public schools? In America, creationists believe that the world was created by a god, the majority of which is made up of Christians, are usually the the people that believe in intelligent design. This Christian theory states that all life on earth, and the earth itself, was created by an intelligent designer or god in their present form. There are variations in belief including Young Earth Theory, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The opposition to this theory comes in part from those whose religious beliefs are contradicted by it, those who claim that evolution is just a theory, and claim it is not a sound science because of the label. To understand that evolution is true and reliable, the definition of the word theory in a scientific context must first be understood. In Richard Dawkins The Greatest Show on Earth, this is explained, The Oxford English Dictionary gives two meanings... Theory, Sense 1:... a hypothesis that has been confirmed or established by observation or experiment, and is propounded or accepted as accounting for the known facts... Theory, Sense 2: A hypothesis proposed as an explanation: hence, a mere hypothesis, speculation, conjecture... It is proposed in this book that scientists and creationists are using these definitions in different contexts. Creationists use the second sense of the word theory, meaning a speculation of no value, and scientists use it in sense one, that of a proven hypothesis. In science the word theory is surpassed only by the word law in the sense of conveying certainty. In science, a theory is a hypothesis that has never been disproven, such as the theory of gravity. Evolution has been proven many times over through both observation and experiment, which is the reason it is taught in public schools. Though it has uncountable examples, only a fraction will be mentioned. Transitional fossils are one of the major concerns on the part of creationists. They use gaps in the fossils record to argue its unreliability. Transitional fossils are the species that lie in between the transition from one species to its ancestor or descendant. When these fossils are missing, it can seem far fetched for a whale to develop from a land dwelling dog like animal, but when the fossils in between these two species are discovered, the transition becomes clearer. Most of the time, people of America will think that this country is getting better and better each day, but this is very incorrect. To explain, studies show that ever since the 1960 s, the United States has become worse every year in categories such as the use of cell phones, obesity, and conflicts between different groups. These categories are only some of the problems/issues that this country is dealing with at the moment and the more we grow in years, the worse these issues will get. Also, many people will agree and disagree with my statement, but most of the people who disagree secretly know that this world is becoming a horrible place. • 16. Federal Theater Project Essay The 20th Century was home to many important events in history, one of the most memorable being The Great Depression. Unemployment was at an all time high, businesses were forced to shut down, and suicide rates were through the roof. New York City was no exception. 213 of it s 253 theaters were forced to close, putting hundreds of thousands of theater people out of work. In these devastating times, a hopeless yet admirable organization known as the Federal Theatre Project (FTP) was created by request of President Roosevelt. Originally created to preserve music and art, this project consumed government funds, was plagued by censorship, and was blatantly biased in social issues, with the end result being far from it s original goal. Created by Harry Hopkins, the FTP had one main goal: Free, adult, uncensored theater. In the short amount of time this project was actually afloat, it recreated dozens of theaters, gave over 12,000 people jobs, and succeeded in one of their main goals by admitting 78% of people for free. This may sound nice and peachy, but there was one big issue: There was absolutely no money to be made. • 18. The Tragebility Of Othello In Act 1 Scene III Othello s nobility is undisputable within the first few acts. In Act 1 Scene I Shakespeare characterizes Othello indirectly through others opinions; Iago refers to Othello as an old black ram , a Barbary horse and a devil , Roderigo similarly uses debasing imagery and language to describe Othello: thicklips . The only information the audience has about Othello at this time is the vulgar description of a barbaric outsider from Roderigo and Iago; this is in sharp contrast to the noble character we meet just one scene later. Othello in Act 1 Scene II is noble, calm and both confident and humble. When he learns that Desdemona s father, Brabantio, is coming for revenge his response is calm and confident: Let him do his spite; My services, which I have done the signiory, Shall out tongue his complaints . Iago urges Othello to leave as Brabantio approaches them; Othello refuses and stands his ground, highlighting his confidence and his nobility: Not I, I must be found. My parts, my title and my perfect soul Shall manifest me rightly When violence is brewing between the characters in Act 1 Scene II Othello becomes the peacemaker and shows his calm, rational side, appealing to Brabantio to cease the violence. Current ideas suggest that the common ancestor of humans and African apes lived only about 5 8 million years ago; so, for more than 50 million years, humans and the African apes have shared primate ancestry. Within this ancestry, a new level of movement began to come into existence known as bipedalism: the ability to walk and run upright on two legs. There are various theories about when our ancestors started walking upright, but a popular view is that perhaps about 7 million years ago, early hominids began to adapt to a climate that was cooling globally. The huge rainforest expanses in Africa were being replaced with savannah and patches of woodland, requiring the tree climbing apes to become more adept at walking on land. Our ancestors who ventured out into the savannah were rewarded with roots, shrubs and occasional animal carcasses, ensuring that those who walked on two legs were more likely to survive. Even so, the jump from trees to land is not all that significant because some of the early hominids anatomical structures may have already been pre adapted to bipedalism while climbing trees and stretching for fruit. Bipedalism primarily allowed hominids to free their arms completely, enabling them to make and use tools efficiently, stretch for fruit in trees and use their hands for social ... Feminist Cixous believes that language is the main control of the power of culture and ways of thinking, to overthrow patriarchal control, we must start from the critique of language: Everything starts words: everything is word, and only word can help us to give back our rights (Cixous). Everyone put their thinking into words, like any political ideology must use language to express. However women never have their right of speech because they are not able to escape from the control of men, and they have no idea of how to change the domination of patriarchy society. To establish women s own social order, American radical feminism have even tried to emphasized the transformation of an existing language to female centric language system in order to replace the old patriarchal language system; and American writer Gilman used her famous short story the yellow wallpaper in late nineteen centuries to put up a banner of feminism, she is not only to describe the real situation of women and created a strategical narrative to against the patriarchy: drilling into men s thought and reveals it s abominable and obsolete social norms. Inventions And Inventions Of The United States Imagine a time when the only way to get around was by riding a horse, or a time when the only way to get in contact with someone was sending a letter, or a time when the only way to dig a hole was using a shovel, during the mid 19th century young innovators, Alfred Nobel, Samuel Morse, and Thomas Edison developed machines that made doing all that easier. Inventions and innovations like dynamite, the railroads, and the telegraph helped the United States economy grow. Scientist developed, a railroad that connected New York City to San Francisco, a telegraph that could send messages across long distances within minutes, and dynamite which could blow up anything along its path. The United States had a small, weak, economy, until the mid 1800s when inventions and innovations united and strengthened the economy. From the beginning of time, people have invented things and innovated to help expand their economy. Gunpowder, the printing press, language, the wheel, pottery, post offices, and man made bridges are all examples of inventions that led to economic growth. In 1800 prior to railroads, the only practical way to travel and trade across long distances was along the nation s natural waterways (Metzner 1). People could not work too far from home, travel , or even visit family that lived far away. • 36. Growing Up In A Town Of Inbreds Analysis How Growing Up in a Town of Inbreds Changed Who I Am Language is found all around us. It can be found in what we say as well as in everything we read. Language is all the ways in which we communicate with others. Since birth, language has always been around us from where we grew up to where we are currently living. Due to language being different across areas and regions of the globe, language can tell a lot about where a person grew up. The concept of language telling a lot about the ways an individual was raised can be seen in my own life, as well as in Carmen Fought s article through peoples accents and the dialect from the region in which they grew up. First, my life includes many examples of ways in which people can gain knowledge about another s life based on what they say and how they say it. Very recently, my friends and I actually got in an argument over the way a word is pronounced, and I know that I only pronounce the word the way I do because that s how my parents ... It s not uncommon to see people driving their tractors and big trucks to school, and we even have days at the high school where some students just bring in their farm animals like their cows and sheep. That better explains why it s a hick town, but because of this there comes a joke from neighboring towns that Watertown is full of inbred individuals, which it s not, similar to the Kentucky stereotype. Towns past Devil s Lake will travel to Minot for their sporting needs and towns past Crookston will travel to Bemidji. Hillsboro is our cut off for the southern border of our reach because anyone south of there will look to Fargo to fulfill their sporting goods needs. • 38. Elizabethan Bear Baiting During Elizabethan times, bear and bull baiting was a popular sport. It provided opportunities for members of all classes to gamble, even members of the royal family. Large amounts of money were pooled and betted on for each round that occurred. It was introduced to England during the 13th century and was prevalent until the 17th century. This entertainment lasted until the 19th century during 1835 when it was finally forbidden by the Parliament as a cruel activity. Many bulls and bears were kept purposely for the sake of the baiting events. Bull baiting consisted of tethering a bull by its horns to a stake in the center of an arena. These rings were often merged with inn yards which were used to hold some of the earlier play performances. The result of the merging basically became the foundation for the Elizabethan amphitheater. During the 16th century the first theater was created, which had the same seating arrangement as the baiting arenas, but had a secure stage as well as a cobbled floor as opposed to the original dirt ground to allow for plays to be held in any kind of weather. Although the main purpose of this new type of theater, the amphitheater, was to house plays, bear baiting could also still be conveniently held in the same structure, providing for both gamblers and the new show business. The importance of the creation of the amphitheater was the easy transition that it delivered for the English Renaissance to take place. When popularity began to shift from bull and bear baiting to the acting industry, the amphitheater that was produced was perfect for the English people who enjoyed both to continue doing so. Not Protecting the Right of Homosexual Marriage Endangers the Rights of Others Civil marriage is enjoyed by all people in society; all people that is, excluding the ones that find love in the form of their own gender. These people are being denied the basic right of engaging in legally bound matrimony. Laws, such as this one, have been created time and time again, mostly by ignorant bigots, only to be dissolved when finally seen as immoral and unjust in the eyes of someone without hatred in their heart. A mother and father who are both unemployed as mom suffers from anxiety and depression, which have led her to be hospitalized a few times due to attempting suicide and dad who is now 33 years old and had an accident at the age of 14 which left him with only one good functioning hand. Andrea has custody of Vincent furthermore, she is unable to care for him because of her illness and with her many visits to the hospital which have caused her to become hospitalized. Even though Andrea loves her son dearly, she is aware that with her conditions she might not be able to care for him, even though Vincent was so attached to her. Vincent was eventually taken from her and place with The Department of Child Protection in order to ensure his safety.
