Igor Stravinsky
Igor Stravinsky (1882 1971) is one of the most prominent and well known composers of the twentieth
century. A Russian composer, pianist, and conductor, Stravinsky quickly rose to international fame
with his ballets, The Firebird (1910), Petrushka (1911), and Rite of Spring (1913). These ballets were
tonally and rhythmically complex, giving Stravinsky a reputation of pushing musical boundaries. A
master of stylistic diversity and having composed in a range of genres, Stravinsky s works can be
divided into three major periods: his Russian period (1907 1919), his Neoclassical period (1920 1954),
and his Serial period (1954 1968). His Neoclassical period was the longest of the three and the most
significant. Neoclassicism was a twentieth century ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As the title reveals, this 20 25 minute work is made up of of three movements: Mvt. I: Overture;
Allegro, Andante; Mvt. II: Interlude Andante; Interlude: L istesso tempo, and Mvt. III: Con moto.
Referred to as his war symphony by Stravinsky himself, this symphony was composed in response to
the Second World War. While it was composed during his neoclassical period, this work challenges the
norms of neoclassicism in ways that his other pieces composed during this era do not. This paper will
argue that Stravinsky s Symphony in Three Movements, while not one of his better known pieces, is
still a work that is representative of his life and style as a composer. Through in depth study of
historical and analytical sources, it will look at how this work is a mixture of material and styles from
Stravinsky s works as well as from works of other composers. We will explore Stravinsky s role in the
neoclassical period, and how this symphony follows the general rules of neoclassicism while also
involving more abstract and strange compositional ideas that are not neoclassical in nature. We will
look at the different life and world events that influenced this work, and how this work influenced his
later compositions, such as The Rake s Progress. Primary sources will be used to better understand
Stravinsky s thoughts and motivations for this

Characteristics Of Shakespearean Tragedy
2. SHAKESPEAREAN TRAGEDY
Shakespearean tragedy is the title given to most tragedies written by the playwright William
Shakespeare. Shakespearean tragedy began, roughly speaking, with marked indebtedness to the tragic
writing of Marlowe and Kyd: poetry, character, and style from Marlowe; motive, plot, and tragic
intensity from Kyd. No evidence suggests Shakespeare was ever particularly aware of or influenced
by, Aristotelian theories of tragedy . (Bevington, 1980) The plays we usually have in mind when we
think about Shakespearean tragedy are the classics like Titus Andronicus (written between 1590 94),
Romeo and Juliet (1594 96), Julius Caesar (1599), Hamlet (1599 1601), Othello (1603 04), King Lear
(1605), Macbeth (1606 07), Antony and Cleopatra (1606 07), and Coriolanus (1608) derived from
Plutarch. Troilus and Cressida, Timon of Athens, and Cymbeline were listed as tragedies in the First
Folio. Characteristics of a Shakespearean tragedy are found in many of his histories, but since they are
from real figures throughout England s history, they were classified as histories in the First Folio.
Exceptions from this are the Roman histories, also from historical figures: Julius Caesar, Antony and
Cleopatra, and Coriolanus. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Gredina, forthcoming) I am most interested in the human nature of the characters and I chose these
three tragedies because their protagonists attracted my attention the most. Is Macbeth tempted to sin
by the weird sisters and his wife, or is the choice to murder Duncan ultimately his? To what extent is
man responsible for his tragic fate? (Bevington, 1980) The psychological aspect in his tragedies is
impressive. I think the most impressive thing is that even after more than 400 years we can still study
his characters and their decisions from different

Malcolm X s Struggle
Malcolm X, originally known as Malcolm Little, was born on May 19th 1925 in Omaha, Nebraska.
Malcolm s father, Earl Little, instilled the significance of independence and the idea of black pride
because of his membership in the Universal Negro Improvement Association and support towards the
black nationalist Marcus Garvey. Malcolm X was then sent into foster care at an early age due to his
father s passing and mother s enrollment in a mental hospital in 1937. Malcolm s family often moved
place to place (Omaha, Nebraska to Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Lansing, Michigan) because of the
frequent encounters and death threats with and from white supremacists. He began to participate in a
life of criminality that soon sent him to prison for eight to ten

Essay about B2B v. B2C Supply Chains
B2B v. B2C Supply Chains
Introduction In the age of technology business has come a long way and evolved tremendously. It used
to be that brick and mortar was the only way to open and run a business. However, the internet has
changed all of that now businesses can use technology to reach customers and other businesses all
over the world. This has caused a great surge in the world wide economy. In 2003 Business to
Business (B2B) commerce tipped the scales at $1.41 Trillion. This is in comparison to Business to
Consumer (B2C) that was $90.1 Billion (Naraine, R.2003). All of these purchases need to get
transported and that is where businesses supply chains come in play. Contrary to popular belief the
supply chains of B2B and B2C ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, these are just the tip of the iceberg. B2C eCommerce now has matured and includes a
myriad of online services. These services can/ do include online banking, travel services, online
auctions, health information, real estate as well as some less reputable sites (Patton, S., 2001).
B2B vs. B2C Supply Chain The B2B and B2C supply chains might appear to be similar however, that
assumption can not be further from the truth. The main difference between the two is the amount of
channels a product must flow through before reaching the end user. With B2B there are less total
channels however they are greater in size when to compared to the greater amount of smaller channels
with B2C. (Marketing Profs, 2005) For example: A new car manufacturer is looking for tires to put on
their new line of cars. They would deal directly with a tire manufacturer to get their product. The
channels would simply be from the car manufacturer tire manufacturer raw supplies dealers. Now let s
look at an individual looking to book a flight and hotel in Las Vegas. The chain would be as follows,
individual online store airline airline staff hotel hotel staff. The next difference comes with technology
and that is integration, B2B needs to be integrated to their business partners software for smooth
resupply , billing, etc. This is an

The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) is an international non governmental organization working
on issues regarding the conservation, research and restoration of the environment, formerly named the
World Wildlife Fund, which remains its official name in Canada and the United States. It is the world
s largest independent conservation organization with over 5 million supporters worldwide, working in
more than 100 countries, supporting around 1,300 conservation and environmental projects. WWF is a
foundation, in 2010 deriving 57% of funding from individuals and bequests, 17% from government

These concepts laid the foundation for sustainable development, a philosophy that now permeates
conservation, development, and even corporate strategies.
1990S
The 1990s saw more widespread acceptance of the global links between the environment, human
activities and human welfare as well as the value of biodiversity and the emerging threat of climate
change.
These issues were explicitly incorporated in WWF s 1990 Mission Statement, and have framed the
organization s on the ground and policy work ever since. Continuing the move from country based
projects to a targeted and more unified approach, WWF developed a global conservation strategy that
focused efforts on the world s most critical ecoregions and in six key areas species, forest, marine and
freshwater conservation, climate change and toxic chemicals. In addition to its long standing
relationships with traditional conservation partners, WWF also began to more actively engage with
business and other new partners to promote sustainable resource management.
2000S
The turn of the century saw WWF vastly upscale its ambition, aiming for transformational changes
that lead to lasting conservation, sustainable development and sustainable lifestyles.
With twin goals of conserving biodiversity and reducing humanity s Ecological Footprint, the
organization is drawing on the combined strength and expertise of its global network to create
innovative partnerships that integrate

Understanding contemporary organisational structures and contemporary people management

Introduction
For centuries organizations in business, government and military treat human resources either as part
of a leadership team driving the business or mission while others are expendable in war as soldiers or
clerks requiring ongoing direction and scientific systems in place (Taylor 1911). Aristole around 384
BC said this eloquently Some are by nature free, others are by nature slaves. The condition of slavery
is both beneficial and just (Aristotle in Kuhn 2009, pg. 10). Around nearly 2,500 later new companies

Critical Problem Of Selective Reliance On Secondary...
Part2
The article of Ian Lustick focuses on the critical problem of selective reliance on secondary
historiographical sources by historically minded political scientists. Lustick observes that political
scientists often make mistakes by rooting their research without paying attention to the issue of how to
select historical events and thus comes up with an approach that does not treat historiographies as
History, but as particular interpretations of history that can be used to multiply the number of
observations to outnumber variables to make valid inferences: if we treat our database as
historiography or histories and not History, then the actual number of cases expands from the number
of episodes to the number of accounts of those episodes (Lusktick). The problems with
historiographies is that, historians like many political scientists tend to include their own commitments
and political engagement and eventually fall into selection bias when doing their research. This bias
can occur when he/she selects historiographical accounts prioritizing one historical events and human
behavior that sync with their own political theories over the others. (pg. 608). Lustick deals with the
issue of how to choose sources of data without selecting specific ones that matches your thesis. By
doing so, he criticize Barrington Moore s seminal 1966 book, Social Origins of Dictatorship and
Democracy, noting that Moore selectively references historical accounts to support his

Clinical Site Comparison
There are many differences between my first semester clinical site, at UCH Denver, and at Penrose,
this semester s site. The teaching style of the technologists is different, acquiring clinical history for
every patient is required, and there are children and infant patients in Penrose. These create a stark
contrast between the two clinical sites.
Up at UCH Denver, the radiologic technologists give the students a lot of leash. In fact, they almost
drop kick students into preforming exams. Students are shown how to do procedures and run
equipment, then sent to do exams and grab the techs before they take the images. The atmosphere is
pretty relaxed and everyone is accustomed to teaching and correcting student mistakes. Trial by fire is
the way of learning up in Denver. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The radiologists expect tech notes on each patient, unlike UCH Denver. For the most part, a tech has
been by my side to make sure I obtain the correct information. Then, they check the notes students
write to assess whether the notes are written well enough, giving us tips and corrections. Ed has
suggested that I write down the clinical history, in short hand, of course. I have found that writing
down my questions before hand ensures I do not miss my information. Students are allowed to retrieve
patients from the emergency department and outpatient waiting areas. There are small changing areas
and gowns available, but hardly utilized. Most patients seen in the exam rooms are already changed in
the emergency department. The greatest difference I have discovered is that our patients include
children and babies. Children are so much smaller and they

What Is The Detrimental Nature Of The Prison System
One of the greatest emphases that Victor Hugo enlightens in Les Miserables is the detrimental nature
of the prison system. During the time Les Miserables was penned, a vast amount of issues plagued the
prison system, and many of them are touched on in the novel. The prison system was structurally and
functionally crumbling during the time of Les Miserables; from excessive punishment to skewed
workforce, even the miserable living/working conditions for the convicts. Hugo emphasizes countless
other issues throughout the novel, but these three are constantly referenced and expanded upon. The
primary issue undermining the entire novel, excessive punishment, is the key reason as to why the
prison system is the way it is. Throughout Les Miserables many of the convicts are subject to
excessive punishment. Working in the galleys would not be acceptable in ... Show more content on

Javert has been tailing Jean Valjean ever since he left the galleys a free man. I found myself asking
questions along the lines of What does Javert do all day? Doesn t this guy have anything else to do
except chase a former convict all over France? This frustrated me throughout the novel because
instead of examining the problems with the prison system, we have people wasting years and lots of
time and money pursing a convict that was unfairly sentenced in the first place for a petty crime, and
ended up on death row for something that should have been a fine and maybe one year of jail time at
the maximum. Javert sums this up in his dialogue with Valjean in the movie. Now prisoner 24601,
your time is up and your parole s begun. You know what that means? Yes, it means I m free. No.

Edith Hollander in 1925 and they wanted to begin a family so they established a home in Frankfurt.

gloomy conditions. The diary today is very famous in recounting Anne s experience during the
Holocaust and explaining the horrible treatment Jews received. Despite how careful everyone in the
annex was they were discovered and arrested on August 4, 1944 and taken to the train station to be
taken to Westerbork. Westerbork was the transit camp where Dutch Jews were sent. (Alagna, 56) The
prisoners got off at Auschwitz and were put into a selection process to be picked for work, death, or
even medical experiments. When the Franks arrived they were separated by gender and Otto never got
to see his family again. Edith, Margot, and Anne were given rags to wear, their heads were shaved,

Melting Point Lab
The melting point of a chemical is a physical property inherent to that substance. The chemical
changes from a solid to a liquid state, but the composition remains the same. It can be used to
determine the identity of an unknown substance. The purpose of this experiment was to discover the
identity of an unknown chemical by determining its melting point.
The unknown substance was determined to be trans cinnamic acid. When the unknown and trans
cinnamic acid were mixed, the mixture melted in a similar temperature range as both the unknown
chemical and trans cinnamic acid. This shows that the unknown chemical was trans cinnamic acid.

In spite of their appearance, these massive spans serve no practical function. They are strictly
ornamental and do not help support the structure, which was the first object built to withstand the
forces of the wind as well as gravity. Only now, more than one hundred years later, can we see the
tower in context. It has aged gracefully and no longer stands in contrast to the ornate architecture that
has survived in modern Paris. Once the exposition was over, plans were made to destroy the Eiffel
Tower. The monument that brought so much displeasure because it represented that which was
modern, new, and very un Parisian, was actually saved by technological advances. Engineers realized
that the structure would make a perfect broadcasting tower.
The tower gets its name from Gustave Eiffel, the man who designed the monument, and also did the
girder work for the Statue of Liberty now in New York harbor. Looking at its open frame, it comes as
no surprise that Eiffel was a bridge engineer when he entered the competition along with 100 other
people to design this lasting monument to French culture. In fact, it took just two years and 300 steel
workers for it to reach its pre television height of 984 feet. The construction work began in January
1887 and was finished on March 31 1889. In spite of this height, the Eiffel Tower has just four floors.

Explain The Six Best Ways To Protect Your Electronics When...
The Six Best Ways To Protect Your Electronics When Traveling Or Moving
Electronics are personal items that are essential to bring along when traveling or moving. This is
because they are provide important communication and entertainment functions. However, they are
also an expensive investment that need to be properly protected. Below offers six excellent ways to
protect your electronics while traveling or moving.
Security
Electronic security isn t just about setting strong passwords. Be sure to keep your expensive electronic
items with you while traveling. Do not assume that they will be safe in the hotel room or safe. A
security cable chain lock is an excellent way to protect laptop and other large electronics. Consider
installing an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, plasma TVs should be covered with a blanket, placed in the upright position and given
additional padding. Be sure not to pack smaller electronics with other items. Instead, carefully stack
them on top. Be sure to protect your electronics from hot, cold and damp weather.
Travel Tips
When traveling by plane, keep all electronics stored under your seat. This is because electronics can
be damaged when luggage moves around in the overhead bins during the flight. In addition to this, it
is easy for someone else to take your bag from the overhead bin by mistake or on purpose. When
traveling by car, keep electronics in the trunk on top of other items. Avoid moving electronics back
and forth between the front of the car and trunk. That is, do not advertise when stopped that you are
storing electronics in the trunk.
Consistently
Be sure to keep your electronic items in the same place. This will reduce the likelihood of forgetting
anything. It is quite common during traveling to forget items because you are not following your
normal routine. For example, it is common for people to forget their cellphone at motels or before they
board a plane.

You will find that punctuation is rarely used in most texts and if there is any then it will occur
randomly or be over used throughout the conversation because at the end of the day there are no rules
to online communication. Consequently, there are lots of concerns about online communication use
and its potential dangers. John Humphrys says, It s pillaging our punctuation; savaging our sentences;
raping our vocabulary. I agree with him as text speak is slowly taking over our Standard English, more
than ever now as nearly everyone has a mobile device. One of the major disadvantages about text
speak is that since it is not standard, there are no single spelling for some words and as different
people have different texting styles, one might misunderstand the message and feel offended due to
this misinterpretation. In addition to this, when people write text messages in text speak, they often
lose depth and meaning, sadly people often forget how to write in Standard English using correct,
standard spelling and grammar. Also, more and more people are using their mobile phones all the
time; this could possibly lead to anxiety as they are constantly checking their phones for any new
texts/notifications etc. Texting and typing too much can lead to repetitive stress injury which isn t
something that young people should have. Likewise, some teenagers may

Summary Of The Las Meninas

ZOOM
Harlie UnderhillDecember 4, 2017Spanish 1B HudsonLas MeninasThe Las Meninas is a piece of
artwork made by Diego Velázquez in 1656 in the Cuarta del Principe in Almcázar in Madrid. It is one
of the most famous paintings in the Spanish history. Velazquez was trying to bring this painting closer
to Spanish History. The artwork is a painting of the infanata and her attendants. She has two maids
around her, and José Nieto in the doorway. Behind the infanata there is a canvas, on the canvas is a
picture of Mari Bárbola and Nicolasito Pertusato. The infanatas parents, Philip IV and Mariana de
Ulloa, reflections are in the mirror. The artist also includes himself in the painting, painting a huge
canvas. When Velázquez was painting the portrait, he was trying to paint like the technique called
Baroque. This technique is the style used to exaggerate motion in order to produce drama and tension
in paintings, sculptures, literature, dance and music. He was trying to make a complex and credible
composition that would convey a sense of life and reality. Velazquez limits between reality and
painting.. The composition combines unity and variety. This painting has a specific location, and
identified figures, and its a group portrait.
Pablo Picasso made many interpretations of this painting. He has made a series of 58 paintings. He

He made these paintings in memory of Jaume Sabartés. He wanted to show all the different feelings

the difficulty it was for her to balance her feelings, emotions, and ideas. The two paintings by the two

both also show how the princess is focused on the light. In velazquez painting she is looking at the

The two organizations I will be focusing on throughout the course are two organizations I have

The best solution I will suggest will be a bailout. This will give the government the opportunity to
monitor the finances of the ARC, allow the people that are employed there to continue working, give
them the opportunity to hire the workers they need to properly work there and the FDA will have
better control of the blood supply and how it is handled.
The way the American Red Cross is responding to these problems are not in an ethical way. They are
merely attempting to cover their own selves, which is leaving a lot of people out of a job and
overworking other individuals. This is only leading to more poor storage of blood and when a disaster
does strike, they do not have the full capabilities to respond in a timely manner. The ARC did create
this unethical problem by not being totally prepared for the disasters that occurred simultaneously and
with using the money they had saved for the disasters as severance packages for the incompetent CEO
s they had to get rid of over the past ten years. The American Red Cross could have done so much
more by foreseeing the trend of the disasters that were occurring during the time and keeping a shorter
leash on the next CEO that they hired after the last one ended up

The Market And Economic Conditions For Buying And...
Introduction
Interested in near future business ideas, Cousin Edgar is considering buying two gasoline (gas)
stations. Gasoline is a fuel that, he believes, most American consumers will continue to use for the
foreseeable future and anticipates that the gasoline prices will continue moderately stable. The
business planning will evaluate the market and economic conditions for buying and operating the two
gas stations. The evaluation will be inclusive of Edgars expectation of his gas stations basic economic
conditions such as supply and demand, elasticity, costs of production, pricing, and normal economic
profit/loss. Cousin Edgar does believe that the opportunity for a healthy profit on the sale of
convenience items at each station could complement the gas stations business profits.
Determinants of Demand
There is a demand for the availability of gas stations that offer not only fuel retailing but also food
items for the consumers convenience. Edgar is aware that his retail gas station business could offer
complementary items to enhance the gas stations revenues. Preliminary review of this business idea
recognized that the national average of fuel prices has been declining since the end of 2014,

The determinants for gasoline are transportation needs, income, and consumers lifestyles.

How Did The Influence Of Marx s Theory Of Modern Communism
Lenin was inspired by Karl Marx s theory of communism, which urges the workers of the world to
unite against their economic oppressors. The writings of Marx s theory of modern capitalism
influenced the events occurred in the early 1900s. The Communist Manifesto reflects an attempt to
explain the goals of communism, as well as the theory underlying this movement. The Manifesto
stated, Through most of the 20th century, the importance of the Communist Manifesto was
uncontested. It was important not because of its intrinsic merits, but because of the brute facts of
world politics (Marx). Also, The word communism first came into general use in France in the early
1840s as a term to describe an ultra radical offshoot of the republican movement that had re emerged
during the July Revolution of 1830 (Marx). Karl Marx started ... Show more content on

polemical shorthand for an elaboration of the structural mechanisms through which control over the
means of production leads to control over other aspects of society (Block). A more general world of
Marx s importance as a sociological thinker became apparent in the 1890s with the publication of a

Christianity s Influence On Sexuality And Gender
To conclude this course I have chosen to write my final research paper on Christianity s influence on
sexuality and gender. I will provide scholarly information and accounts for how Christianity has
shaped our sexual behaviour as well as differing roles for males and females. From past to present the
influence of Christianity has affected us worldwide; this paper presents real world examples of how
Christianity has come into play with our culture, and what we can learn by how it has affected people
s identities. My first source entitled Christianity and Sexuality in the Early Modern World: Regulating
Desire by Merry Wiesner Hank is useful for presenting an account of how sexuality and gender was
discussed in Christianity s New Testament bible. In the letters of Paul to Jesus, Paul warned against
those who opposed marriage, and also suggested that widows and widowers do not remarry. Along
with discussing acceptable and unacceptable sexual activities, the letters of Paul introduce a gendered
and sexualized metaphor for the Christian community: the bridge of Christ. Human marriage is
equated with the union between Christ and church; husbands are admonished to love their wives as
Christ loved the church; and wives to be subject to their husbands as the church is subject to Christ
(Ephesians 5:21 33) (Wiesner Hank, 27). This quote presented is very important it provides a clear
illustration of the difference in expectations from the different genders in marriage under the

Essay Shield of Achilles and the Shield of Aeneas
A Comparative Study of the Shield of Achilles and the Shield of Aeneas
In Homer s great work, the Iliad, Achilles is given a set of armor, including a glorious shield which
allows him to return to battle and carry out his revenge against Hector. Likewise, in Virgil s Aeneid,
Aeneas is sent a shield for the purpose of aiding him in defending Rome from invasion. However,
these shields are made special not by their military value, but by the engravings that decorate their
surfaces.
Achilles shield holds engravings of common life during his time: farmers plowing the land, young
men and women dancing in the vineyards, scenes of the countryside, slaves working for their kings,
and armies fighting each other. On the other hand, Aeneas ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
And there were young men on it and young girls, sought for their beauty with gifts of oxen, dancing,
and holding hands at the wrist (Il., 18.590 594). In fact, the majority of the shield depicts common
Greek life; this being a quality that distinguishes Achilles shield from those of other famous warriors
and heroes. Epics and their heroes usually involve gods and god like feats, which are still true in the
Iliad, yet the engravings on this shield are an oxymoron of that style. Edwards best describes this in
stating, Like an enormous simile, the scenes on the shield hold the narrative still for a while as we
gaze at them; and the content is like that of a simile, too it is the ordinary life of mankind that we
observe, not that of heroes or gods (278).
The shield is unique for the engravings it bears on its surface, however, its greater significance lies in
what it represents, especially to Achilles being. At her son s birth, Thetis knew that Zeus had fated
Achilles to die if he spilled Hector s blood. Despite warning him of this, Thetis could not sway her son
s decision to avenge Patrocles and kill Hector. Therefore, it is known from this point on that Achilles
would soon die. Once he puts on the new armor, Achilles accepts his impending doom, and even
accepts it earlier as he speaks to his mother, saying,

Pathological Abnormalities in Sex Offenders
1) Biological Theories Genetics, abnormal hormonal levels and brain dysfunction have all been linked
to sexual offending. To date, there is no evidence of a genetic in sex offending (Langevin, 1993),
although case reports of pedophilic fathers and sons have been reported (Gaffner, Lurie Berlin, 1984).
Some researchers have hypothesised this to be reflective of neuro endocrine abnormalities, such that
abnormal hormonal levels may disrupt the sexual arousability of an individual. This is based on the
belief that the endocrine system drives sexual behaviour (Langevin, 1993). There is some evidence for
this in the literature with peripheral blood samples of pedophiles indicating abnormal testosterone
levels (Bain et al., 1988) and increased ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hudson Ward (2000) utilised McFall s (1990) definition and argued that deficiencies in social
competence is central to the causes and maintenance of sexual offending. There is evidence that sex
offenders have difficulty establishing intimate adult relationships and lack the skills necessary to
manage interpersonal relationships (Keenan Ward, 2000). Attachment theory has been one of the most
promising ways of construing intimacy and understanding how these deficits lead to sexual offending.
Each style is associated with different perceptions of self and others and different emotions, beliefs,
goals and strategies. Thus, the pursuit of intimacy through sexually inappropriate ways is different for
each attachment style. Deficiencies in empathy have long been associated with sexual offenders,
largely because it is appealing to believe that men who commit these crimes do so without feeling
their victims pain (Hudson Ward, 2000). It has been proposed that the abovementioned deficits in
intimacy, empathy and cognition indicate a lack of awareness of other peoples desires, beliefs,
perspectives and needs (Ward, Keenan Hudson, 1999). 4) Comprehensive theories This level of
theorising is considered the most comprehensive and is associated with identifying multiple causal
factors and their interactions. However, the sex offending literature is deficient in this area. Of the

Charismatic Leadership And Transformational Leadership
Charisma theory is described as a gift , or a unique superiority of an individual character. This is set by
an advantage of which the individual is set apart from the common man and treated as a gem with
supremacies (Charismatic vs. Transformational, 2011). Whereas the transformational theory is defined
as leaders who enthuse followers to use their own egocentricities to benefit the organization
(Charismatic vs. Transformational, 2011). These leaders also possess a gift of having a great impact on
their followers (Charismatic vs. Transformational, 2011). Theories are apprehended around the world
and almost every aspect of life possesses a theory behind them, whether there is action or unfolding
someone s personality. There are two leadership theories that will be conveyed, Charismatic

concepts, James MacGregor Burns the founder of Transformational leadership (Conger, n.d.) and Karl

Helicopter Parents Essay
Within the past several years, I have seen many new ideas and theories as to how children should be

were not the same my parents had when raising me. Some of the ideas expressed in said article I
resonated with as a child whose parents leaned towards being helicopters while others I did not agree
with as wholeheartedly.
One point made by the article was that being a helicopter parent causes the child to become to
dependent once they move away from home. While this is an issue, it does not appear to be as big of a
problem as the article implied. Of all the people I know, the worst form of dependency is an individual

Walden by Henry David Thoreau
In perhaps his greatest reflection, Walden, Thoreau states be it life or death, we crave only reality. The
excerpt from pages 49 to 50 focuses on the quest for this elusive truth. Serving both as a call to action
as well as an instructional guide, this passage takes readers through a cleansing of all the superfluities
of life. He laments how life has corrupted the natural state of purity he was born with, but with
intellect as his primary tool, he has tried to truly find himself. In this passage, Thoreau instructs his
readers to discover their reality, and from this point, build a foundation to begin their own journey of
self discovery. Although it can be considered a descriptive piece, this passage aims at persuasion if not
outright conversion. To remove the conventional distance between author and audience, and to
connect with his reader, Thoreau uses the first person. Repeating Let us instead of you must, he
establishes a conversation instead of a lecture (49). In addition, Thoreau relies on pathos to achieve his
rhetorical aims and get people to cleanse their life. Phrases like sweet edge dividing your heat, rattle in
our throats and feel cold in the extremities attack the readers senses, and sweeping ideas such as future
ages, life, death, and eternity lend the passage emotional appeal (49, 50). Thoreau also creates a
stipulative definition of reality, giving a generally clinical word a more emotional meaning (49).

capacity is roughly proportional to its interior volume and its cost is more closely related to the surface
area in terms of where the materials and labour hours are concentrated. We also know that though
there is a growth in demand, variability exists across different countries. Greater the variability, there
are chances that there would be a greater amount of underutilized capacity and at this stage opening a

Environment Is Complex Of Natural And Anthropogenic Factors
Environment is complex of natural and anthropogenic factors and components that are in a state of
mutual dependence and affect the ecological balance and quality of life, health, cultural, and historical
heritage. The environment is everything that surround us. We are in contact with the environment all
the time. My favorite part of the environment is natural environment. The natural environment is the
set of living and non living things on Earth which occur in a state substantially not influenced by
humans. We are in contact with the natural environment all the time help it or polluted it. We also can
benefit from it without hurting it. I m talking about wild fruits. They are plants which are not grown
by human and you can eat for free. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I knew that there was a river somewhere in front of us. Our aim was to find the river. My dog needed
to cool down. He is a 10 pound white Pekingese with a lot of fur. We reached a flat, open and sunny
field. I was thinking Oh, sun! It s too hot anyway! In this moment, I felt a known, pleasant aroma. It
was the aroma of wild strawberries my favorite aroma from my childhood. When I was a kid in
Bulgaria, my parents and I used to go in the woods and pick wild strawberries every summer. Since
then, this aroma is my favorite fruit aroma. I can recognize it everywhere in the world. This was one
of my first connections with the nature.
I looked around weeds everywhere. I knew that wild strawberries would be here. I bent over and
started to search for them. They were everywhere between the weeds. Wild strawberries are red, and
as small as a human nail. They are so small and so delicious. I usually like to wash my fruits very
well, but not these ones. I started to eat them right away. The wild strawberries are sweet creation of
nature. It had been more than 10 years since I ate wild strawberries. I heard a noise. People were
coming. I sat on the ground and waited for them to pass us. They didn t even notice the aroma of wild
strawberries. They were too busy. I only greeted them, I didn t want to share my gold with the busy
strangers. They left. I kept looking for more strawberries. I ate about fifteen and saved a couple for my
husband.

Eye Infection Procedures
Do your eyes have less than perfect vision? Are you trying to decide whether you want glasses,
contacts, or both? Before you visit your optometrist s office, here are some merits of each option to
help you decide:
Glasses:
Easy to clean: Unless you are perspiring heavily or get something splashed on your glasses, they will
usually only require a soft cloth to rub any dust or dirt away. If they have spots of sweat or other
liquids, this can be removed with a mild solution of warm water and dish soap.
Low chance of eye infection: Unlike contact lenses that are placed on your eyeball, glasses rest upon
your face. Because there is less potential for glasses to spread germs to your eyes, you will have a
lower risk of eye infection than than if you were wearing contact lenses.
Coordinate with your outfits: Sometimes an outfit needs something a little bit more, to make it pop ...

This can happen in both summer and during the winter. Depending on where you live, it may be easier
for your optometrist to provide you with glasses that provide UV protection than for you to find
contact lenses that offer UV protection.
Contact lenses:
No fogging: If you work in a kitchen or any other location where you need to walk through multiple
areas with different temperatures, foggy glasses could be distracting or even potentially dangerous.
Contact lenses will never fog, no matter the temperature difference.
More natural vision: With contact lenses, your entire field of vision is corrected. No matter how
skilled your optometrist is, eyeglasses will have at least mild distortion around the edges due to their
shape.
No wardrobe clashes: Because contact lenses are invisible, you don t have to worry about whether
they will match a particular outfit or not. This means that you can go on a date or to an important
meeting without wondering whether you should ve worn your other pair of glasses or

A Brief Note On Conflict Analysis Using Ssam
Conflict Analysis using SSAM
After the 10 simulations for each intersection were completed in VISSIM, their respective outputs
were imported in SSAM. The analysis in SSAM resulted in possible conflicts generated at each
intersection. As mentioned earlier, the results from the SSAM analysis were filtered to remove any
uncertainties, including possible conflicts of pedestrians. The filters used are explained in Table 3
(Section 2.5.3).
Per Saleem (2012), the principal reason for removing the pedestrian conflicts is that in his study only
vehicle to vehicle crashes are modeled. In the same way, this study only focuses on evaluating safety
of signalized intersections with the presence of automated vehicles without including pedestrians due

The CMF was calculated for each crash prediction model applied at both scenarios: 50%AV and
100%AV. Using the method studied by Shahdah, Saccomanno, Persaud (2014) to predict the CMF
based on simulated conflicts, the total predicted crashes after the countermeasure was applied (crashes
at 100% AV and crashes at 50%AV) were divided by the total predicted crashes before the
countermeasure was applied (crashes at 0%AV). This provided crash modification factors for the two
AV penetration levels investigated in this study.
Finally, to have a better perspective with regards to simulated conflicts and crashes, an average was
calculated for each element used to calculate the CMFs for the four prediction models (crashes at
0%AV, crashes at 100%AV, crashes at 50%AV). With these new values, new CMFs were calculated
for 100%AV and 50%AV with respect to the untreated site scenario of 0%AV.
3.5 Evaluation of Safety Treatments for Signalized Intersections
After analyzing the safety of the 78 signalized intersections when introducing automated vehicles, this
part of the research explored and evaluated the safety effects on crashes when hypothetical treatments
were applied to selected intersections.
The first safety treatment consisted of changing left turn operation from permissive to permissive
protected. Permissive left turns can raise safety concerns since drivers take a higher risk in crossing

Exploring The Relationship Between Age And Patriotism Levels
Patriotism is something every countries citizens pride. Many people claim to be patriotic or have a self
professed love of country. However, the question that I will answer during this paper is whether there
is a relationship between age and patriotism levels. While there may be other variables such as
political party, race, or gender, I will be focusing on whether there is a relationship between different
generations and their patriotism. It seems that while there may be other factors contributing to
patriotism towards ones country the largest determining factor is age. According to the New York
Times, There are small differences in levels of patriotism across political parties, between men and
women, and among racial groups, but these patterns ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The definition of patriotism is, devoted love, support, and defense of one s country; national loyalty.
The question about whether patriotism is different between ages is important because patriotism is
what motivates us to participate in our civic duties. If young people have less love for their country
that means they feel that their government is ultimately less legitimate. The government gains its
power from the people, if the people do not love their country then the government has no power.
Further, if there is a relationship between patriotism and age that could point to different feelings each
generation has for the country. Also, if there isn t any difference between different ages and patriotism
that would suggest that each age group has the same level of love for their country and would further
suggest that

The, Inherit The Wind, By Jerome Lawrence And Robert E. Lee
Those who have studied history, both in school or professionally, will know that history is just a
transcript of time. In every second, of every minute, of every hour, of every day, change occurs. All
turning points in history, such as the fall of Rome, or the Industrial Revolution, or the Columbian
Exchange, are just periods of time where change was taking place at a quick tempo. The 1920s are
also a turning point in the history of America; in that decade, the United States emerges victorious
from the brutality of World War I, the nineteenth amendment that allows women to vote is ratified,
and social norms are challenged. Those that could adapt to the changing times would flourish in post
war America, whereas those that could not depart ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The aversion the citizens have for Drummond is overturned, however, when Drummond exposes
Brady s reluctance to compromise and embrace advancement. Brady claims that the Bible should be
analyzed literally, so, to counter him, Drummond brings up several examples from the Bible that are
not scientifically possible, and rather than accepting that some of his viewpoints may have been
outdated by science, Brady resolutely forges forth with his interpretation of the Bible. His focus on
following his disproven ideals against logic ruins his credibility and, as a result, he is somewhat
shunned. The play s stage directions after Brady becomes discredited state, DRUMMOND moves out
of the courtroom, and most of the crowd goes with him; Reporters cluster tight about DRUMMOND,
pads and pencils hard at work. BRADY sits, ignored, on the witness chair... (Lawrence and Lee 102).
The inhabitants of Hillsboro start to side more with Drummond because he shows that he is open to
differing viewpoints and change. (Drummond isn t completely against the Bible, he states, The Bible
is a book. A good book. But it s not the only book (Lawrence and Lee 98).) Eventually, the jury also
determines that Drummond s logic and incorporation of new ideas is more logical than Brady s refusal
to accept any new theories. They determined that Cates was guilty because he does teach evolution,
but they only gave him a small fine, which shows their support for the progressive

Benefits Of Living A Healthy Lifestyle
As human beings we all have the desire to live longer lives. Well according to recent studies the key to
longevity are diet and exercise. Living a healthy lifestyle can ultimately add years onto your life
expectancy. There are certain groups of people around the world who are living longer lives. For
instance let s consider the pacific islanders of Okinawa. They have a life expectancy of more than 81,
compared to the average life expectancy of 78 here in the United States. Another example would be
the Seven Day Adventist who primarily have vegetarian diets, who outlive their neighbors on average
by four to seven years. Researchers have also studied the residents on the San Blas islands off the
coast of Panama. There they found that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Another advantage that physical activity has on your life is that it improves your physical wellness. It
helps improves your physical wellness by reducing risk factors. One study showed that adults that
watch four hours of television a day had a 46% increase risk of death from any cause and an 80%
increase risk of death of cardiovascular disease. Performing physical activities can also improve
optimal health. People who don t normally workout tend to loss their strength, stamina, and sometimes
even the ability to function. Those of who that are physically healthy and maintain a healthy weight
live seven or more years longer than those who are not as physically active. You don t always have to
lift weights or doing any strenuous activities to stay in shape. You can perform moderate exercises like
taking brisk walk which can be just as beneficial. It doesn t matter what you do the ideal goal is to
perform the recommended thirty minutes of physical activity per day. Performing physical activities
has numerous health benefits it helps improve blood circulation, which reduces the risk of heart
disease. It also plays key roles in keeping weight under control, helps in the battle to quit smoking,
improves blood cholesterol levels, prevents and manages high blood pressure, prevents bone loss,

Genghis Kahn Research Paper
Genghis Kahn was well known for many different reasons back in the 1200 s. Some said he was a
determined warrior, other s had considered him as a ruthless military killer. The rise of the Mongolian
domination all started with Genghis Kahn. Between the weapon expertise and battle formation that
was the key to evolving an empire. Technological advances weren t explored nearly to the fullest
extent they are today in the battle era. Therefore, creativity and intelligence were vital to the
succession. However, the Mongols may have gone too far... all lead by Genghis Kahn. The end goal of
evolving an empire dominated by the Mongol s was all Genghis Kahn strived for, ever since he was
little. Khan believed that since he had a blood clot on his hand when he was born, his destiny was to
become a leader (history.com) An army of 20,000 Mongolian warriors were first united by Genghis at
the age of 20 (Genghis Kahn Biography). Cavalry attacks were his specialty. Intense training with
horses and numerous weapons took place to gain more knowledge (history.com). Eventually skill

Complicated relationships with many kingdoms seemed to be Kahn s normal from the difference in
standpoints on politics, religions, and cultural tensions. The Muslim civilization was only 12 years
older than the Mongol nation. They were a cultivation of intelligence, having endless possibilities of
astronomy, agronomy, linguistics and mathematics. They came just short of gaining the rank as a first
class civilization, that had the most practical, refined technology and general learning systems. As they
were high in status, they were the furthest to drop. But he attacked not just an empire, but an entire
ancient civilization. No prayers or citadel refugees were saved. No one was able to convince or bribe
their way to freedom. (Weatherford

  • 2. Igor Stravinsky Igor Stravinsky (1882 1971) is one of the most prominent and well known composers of the twentieth century. A Russian composer, pianist, and conductor, Stravinsky quickly rose to international fame with his ballets, The Firebird (1910), Petrushka (1911), and Rite of Spring (1913). These ballets were tonally and rhythmically complex, giving Stravinsky a reputation of pushing musical boundaries. A master of stylistic diversity and having composed in a range of genres, Stravinsky s works can be divided into three major periods: his Russian period (1907 1919), his Neoclassical period (1920 1954), and his Serial period (1954 1968). His Neoclassical period was the longest of the three and the most significant. Neoclassicism was a twentieth century ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As the title reveals, this 20 25 minute work is made up of of three movements: Mvt. I: Overture; Allegro, Andante; Mvt. II: Interlude Andante; Interlude: L istesso tempo, and Mvt. III: Con moto. Referred to as his war symphony by Stravinsky himself, this symphony was composed in response to the Second World War. While it was composed during his neoclassical period, this work challenges the norms of neoclassicism in ways that his other pieces composed during this era do not. This paper will argue that Stravinsky s Symphony in Three Movements, while not one of his better known pieces, is still a work that is representative of his life and style as a composer. Through in depth study of historical and analytical sources, it will look at how this work is a mixture of material and styles from Stravinsky s works as well as from works of other composers. We will explore Stravinsky s role in the neoclassical period, and how this symphony follows the general rules of neoclassicism while also involving more abstract and strange compositional ideas that are not neoclassical in nature. We will look at the different life and world events that influenced this work, and how this work influenced his later compositions, such as The Rake s Progress. Primary sources will be used to better understand Stravinsky s thoughts and motivations for this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Characteristics Of Shakespearean Tragedy 2. SHAKESPEAREAN TRAGEDY Shakespearean tragedy is the title given to most tragedies written by the playwright William Shakespeare. Shakespearean tragedy began, roughly speaking, with marked indebtedness to the tragic writing of Marlowe and Kyd: poetry, character, and style from Marlowe; motive, plot, and tragic intensity from Kyd. No evidence suggests Shakespeare was ever particularly aware of or influenced by, Aristotelian theories of tragedy . (Bevington, 1980) The plays we usually have in mind when we think about Shakespearean tragedy are the classics like Titus Andronicus (written between 1590 94), Romeo and Juliet (1594 96), Julius Caesar (1599), Hamlet (1599 1601), Othello (1603 04), King Lear (1605), Macbeth (1606 07), Antony and Cleopatra (1606 07), and Coriolanus (1608) derived from Plutarch. Troilus and Cressida, Timon of Athens, and Cymbeline were listed as tragedies in the First Folio. Characteristics of a Shakespearean tragedy are found in many of his histories, but since they are from real figures throughout England s history, they were classified as histories in the First Folio. Exceptions from this are the Roman histories, also from historical figures: Julius Caesar, Antony and Cleopatra, and Coriolanus. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (Gredina, forthcoming) I am most interested in the human nature of the characters and I chose these three tragedies because their protagonists attracted my attention the most. Is Macbeth tempted to sin by the weird sisters and his wife, or is the choice to murder Duncan ultimately his? To what extent is man responsible for his tragic fate? (Bevington, 1980) The psychological aspect in his tragedies is impressive. I think the most impressive thing is that even after more than 400 years we can still study his characters and their decisions from different ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Malcolm s father, Earl Little, instilled the significance of independence and the idea of black pride because of his membership in the Universal Negro Improvement Association and support towards the black nationalist Marcus Garvey. Malcolm X was then sent into foster care at an early age due to his father s passing and mother s enrollment in a mental hospital in 1937. • 5. Essay about B2B v. B2C Supply Chains B2B v. B2C Supply Chains Introduction In the age of technology business has come a long way and evolved tremendously. It used to be that brick and mortar was the only way to open and run a business. However, the internet has changed all of that now businesses can use technology to reach customers and other businesses all over the world. This has caused a great surge in the world wide economy. In 2003 Business to Business (B2B) commerce tipped the scales at $1.41 Trillion. This is in comparison to Business to Consumer (B2C) that was $90.1 Billion (Naraine, R.2003). All of these purchases need to get transported and that is where businesses supply chains come in play. Contrary to popular belief the supply chains of B2B and B2C ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, these are just the tip of the iceberg. B2C eCommerce now has matured and includes a myriad of online services. These services can/ do include online banking, travel services, online auctions, health information, real estate as well as some less reputable sites (Patton, S., 2001). B2B vs. B2C Supply Chain The B2B and B2C supply chains might appear to be similar however, that assumption can not be further from the truth. The main difference between the two is the amount of channels a product must flow through before reaching the end user. With B2B there are less total channels however they are greater in size when to compared to the greater amount of smaller channels with B2C. (Marketing Profs, 2005) For example: A new car manufacturer is looking for tires to put on their new line of cars. They would deal directly with a tire manufacturer to get their product. The channels would simply be from the car manufacturer tire manufacturer raw supplies dealers. Now let s look at an individual looking to book a flight and hotel in Las Vegas. The chain would be as follows, individual online store airline airline staff hotel hotel staff. The next difference comes with technology and that is integration, B2B needs to be integrated to their business partners software for smooth resupply , billing, etc. This is an ... These issues were explicitly incorporated in WWF s 1990 Mission Statement, and have framed the organization s on the ground and policy work ever since. Continuing the move from country based projects to a targeted and more unified approach, WWF developed a global conservation strategy that focused efforts on the world s most critical ecoregions and in six key areas species, forest, marine and freshwater conservation, climate change and toxic chemicals. • 8. Critical Problem Of Selective Reliance On Secondary... Part2 The article of Ian Lustick focuses on the critical problem of selective reliance on secondary historiographical sources by historically minded political scientists. Lustick observes that political scientists often make mistakes by rooting their research without paying attention to the issue of how to select historical events and thus comes up with an approach that does not treat historiographies as History, but as particular interpretations of history that can be used to multiply the number of observations to outnumber variables to make valid inferences: if we treat our database as historiography or histories and not History, then the actual number of cases expands from the number of episodes to the number of accounts of those episodes (Lusktick). The problems with historiographies is that, historians like many political scientists tend to include their own commitments and political engagement and eventually fall into selection bias when doing their research. This bias can occur when he/she selects historiographical accounts prioritizing one historical events and human behavior that sync with their own political theories over the others. (pg. 608). Lustick deals with the issue of how to choose sources of data without selecting specific ones that matches your thesis. By doing so, he criticize Barrington Moore s seminal 1966 book, Social Origins of Dictatorship and Democracy, noting that Moore selectively references historical accounts to support his ... • 9. Clinical Site Comparison There are many differences between my first semester clinical site, at UCH Denver, and at Penrose, this semester s site. The teaching style of the technologists is different, acquiring clinical history for every patient is required, and there are children and infant patients in Penrose. These create a stark contrast between the two clinical sites. Up at UCH Denver, the radiologic technologists give the students a lot of leash. In fact, they almost drop kick students into preforming exams. Students are shown how to do procedures and run equipment, then sent to do exams and grab the techs before they take the images. Ed has suggested that I write down the clinical history, in short hand, of course. I have found that writing down my questions before hand ensures I do not miss my information. Students are allowed to retrieve patients from the emergency department and outpatient waiting areas. There are small changing areas and gowns available, but hardly utilized. • 11. What Is The Detrimental Nature Of The Prison System One of the greatest emphases that Victor Hugo enlightens in Les Miserables is the detrimental nature of the prison system. During the time Les Miserables was penned, a vast amount of issues plagued the prison system, and many of them are touched on in the novel. The prison system was structurally and functionally crumbling during the time of Les Miserables; from excessive punishment to skewed workforce, even the miserable living/working conditions for the convicts. Hugo emphasizes countless other issues throughout the novel, but these three are constantly referenced and expanded upon. The primary issue undermining the entire novel, excessive punishment, is the key reason as to why the prison system is the way it is. Javert has been tailing Jean Valjean ever since he left the galleys a free man. I found myself asking questions along the lines of What does Javert do all day? Doesn t this guy have anything else to do except chase a former convict all over France? This frustrated me throughout the novel because instead of examining the problems with the prison system, we have people wasting years and lots of time and money pursing a convict that was unfairly sentenced in the first place for a petty crime, and ended up on death row for something that should have been a fine and maybe one year of jail time at the maximum. Javert sums this up in his dialogue with Valjean in the movie. Now prisoner 24601, your time is up and your parole s begun. You know what that means? Yes, it means I m free. Anne s dad, Otto Frank, was born in Frankfurt am Main, Germany and joined the banking business working in the family bank until it closed. He later became a lieutenant in the German army amid World War I. Otto then married Edith Hollander in 1925 and they wanted to begin a family so they established a home in Frankfurt. The diary today is very famous in recounting Anne s experience during the Holocaust and explaining the horrible treatment Jews received. Despite how careful everyone in the annex was they were discovered and arrested on August 4, 1944 and taken to the train station to be taken to Westerbork. Westerbork was the transit camp where Dutch Jews were sent. They are strictly ornamental and do not help support the structure, which was the first object built to withstand the forces of the wind as well as gravity. Only now, more than one hundred years later, can we see the tower in context. It has aged gracefully and no longer stands in contrast to the ornate architecture that has survived in modern Paris. Once the exposition was over, plans were made to destroy the Eiffel Tower. The monument that brought so much displeasure because it represented that which was modern, new, and very un Parisian, was actually saved by technological advances. Engineers realized that the structure would make a perfect broadcasting tower. The tower gets its name from Gustave Eiffel, the man who designed the monument, and also did the girder work for the Statue of Liberty now in New York harbor. Looking at its open frame, it comes as no surprise that Eiffel was a bridge engineer when he entered the competition along with 100 other people to design this lasting monument to French culture. In fact, it took just two years and 300 steel workers for it to reach its pre television height of 984 feet. The construction work began in January 1887 and was finished on March 31 1889. I agree with him as text speak is slowly taking over our Standard English, more than ever now as nearly everyone has a mobile device. One of the major disadvantages about text speak is that since it is not standard, there are no single spelling for some words and as different people have different texting styles, one might misunderstand the message and feel offended due to this misinterpretation. In addition to this, when people write text messages in text speak, they often lose depth and meaning, sadly people often forget how to write in Standard English using correct, standard spelling and grammar. Also, more and more people are using their mobile phones all the time; this could possibly lead to anxiety as they are constantly checking their phones for any new texts/notifications etc. Texting and typing too much can lead to repetitive stress injury which isn t something that young people should have. Summary Of The Las Meninas Page 1 of 4 ZOOM Harlie UnderhillDecember 4, 2017Spanish 1B HudsonLas MeninasThe Las Meninas is a piece of artwork made by Diego Velázquez in 1656 in the Cuarta del Principe in Almcázar in Madrid. It is one of the most famous paintings in the Spanish history. Velazquez was trying to bring this painting closer to Spanish History. The artwork is a painting of the infanata and her attendants. She has two maids around her, and José Nieto in the doorway. Behind the infanata there is a canvas, on the canvas is a picture of Mari Bárbola and Nicolasito Pertusato. The infanatas parents, Philip IV and Mariana de Ulloa, reflections are in the mirror. The artist also includes himself in the painting, painting a huge canvas. When Velázquez was painting the portrait, he was trying to paint like the technique called Baroque. This technique is the style used to exaggerate motion in order to produce drama and tension in paintings, sculptures, literature, dance and music. He was trying to make a complex and credible composition that would convey a sense of life and reality. Velazquez limits between reality and painting.. The composition combines unity and variety. This painting has a specific location, and identified figures, and its a group portrait. Pablo Picasso made many interpretations of this painting. He has made a series of 58 paintings. He wasn t trying to create a copy or variation of Velazquez s work, but to create his own unique painting. He made these paintings in memory of Jaume Sabartés. He wanted to show all the different feelings and ideas inside her mind. He changed the face structure of the infanata because he was trying to show the difficulty it was for her to balance her feelings, emotions, and ideas. The two paintings by the two different artists are very similar to each other, just as they are different. One of the main similarities are the princess, both of the paintings include the princess even though they look very different. They both also show how the princess is focused on the light. In velazquez painting she is looking at the light, while in Picasso s painting it shows the brighter colors to show the light. I will provide scholarly information and accounts for how Christianity has shaped our sexual behaviour as well as differing roles for males and females. From past to present the influence of Christianity has affected us worldwide; this paper presents real world examples of how Christianity has come into play with our culture, and what we can learn by how it has affected people s identities. My first source entitled Christianity and Sexuality in the Early Modern World: Regulating Desire by Merry Wiesner Hank is useful for presenting an account of how sexuality and gender was discussed in Christianity s New Testament bible. In the letters of Paul to Jesus, Paul warned against those who opposed marriage, and also suggested that widows and widowers do not remarry. Along with discussing acceptable and unacceptable sexual activities, the letters of Paul introduce a gendered and sexualized metaphor for the Christian community: the bridge of Christ. Human marriage is equated with the union between Christ and church; husbands are admonished to love their wives as Christ loved the church; and wives to be subject to their husbands as the church is subject to Christ (Ephesians 5:21 33) (Wiesner Hank, 27). Epics and their heroes usually involve gods and god like feats, which are still true in the Iliad, yet the engravings on this shield are an oxymoron of that style. Edwards best describes this in stating, Like an enormous simile, the scenes on the shield hold the narrative still for a while as we gaze at them; and the content is like that of a simile, too it is the ordinary life of mankind that we observe, not that of heroes or gods (278). To date, there is no evidence of a genetic in sex offending (Langevin, 1993), although case reports of pedophilic fathers and sons have been reported (Gaffner, Lurie Berlin, 1984). Some researchers have hypothesised this to be reflective of neuro endocrine abnormalities, such that abnormal hormonal levels may disrupt the sexual arousability of an individual. Attachment theory has been one of the most promising ways of construing intimacy and understanding how these deficits lead to sexual offending. Each style is associated with different perceptions of self and others and different emotions, beliefs, goals and strategies. Thus, the pursuit of intimacy through sexually inappropriate ways is different for each attachment style. Deficiencies in empathy have long been associated with sexual offenders, largely because it is appealing to believe that men who commit these crimes do so without feeling their victims pain (Hudson Ward, 2000). It has been proposed that the abovementioned deficits in intimacy, empathy and cognition indicate a lack of awareness of other peoples desires, beliefs, perspectives and needs (Ward, Keenan Hudson, 1999). 4) Comprehensive theories This level of theorising is considered the most comprehensive and is associated with identifying multiple causal factors and their interactions. • 39. Walden by Henry David Thoreau In perhaps his greatest reflection, Walden, Thoreau states be it life or death, we crave only reality. The excerpt from pages 49 to 50 focuses on the quest for this elusive truth. Serving both as a call to action as well as an instructional guide, this passage takes readers through a cleansing of all the superfluities of life. He laments how life has corrupted the natural state of purity he was born with, but with intellect as his primary tool, he has tried to truly find himself. In this passage, Thoreau instructs his readers to discover their reality, and from this point, build a foundation to begin their own journey of self discovery. Although it can be considered a descriptive piece, this passage aims at persuasion if not outright conversion. To remove the conventional distance between author and audience, and to connect with his reader, Thoreau uses the first person. In addition, Thoreau relies on pathos to achieve his rhetorical aims and get people to cleanse their life. Phrases like sweet edge dividing your heat, rattle in our throats and feel cold in the extremities attack the readers senses, and sweeping ideas such as future ages, life, death, and eternity lend the passage emotional appeal (49, 50). Thoreau also creates a stipulative definition of reality, giving a generally clinical word a more emotional meaning (49). Rhetorical questions such as Why ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Capacity Strategy Of Alden Products | Capacity Strategy of Alden Products, Inc. | Submitted by Varsha Advani (11349) | | | | | Capacity strategy should embody a mental model of how a firm works in a given industry and geographic region. There are a series of assumptions and predictions about the log term behaviour of markets, technologies, costs and competitor s behaviour. Such a model would include the following factors: * Predicted growth and variability of demand for the firm s products and services * Costs of building and operating different sized facilities * Likely rate and direction of technological evolution * Expected behaviour of competitors * Anticipated availability, capabilities and costs of external suppliers The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In terms of sizing of capacity increments taking into account scale considerations, the company should attain long term economies of scale. This scale refers to the economies that arise from using one large facility rather than a number of smaller ones. This often results in savings because the processing capacity is roughly proportional to its interior volume and its cost is more closely related to the surface area in terms of where the materials and labour hours are concentrated. We also know that though there is a growth in demand, variability exists across different countries. Greater the variability, there are chances that there would be a greater amount of underutilized capacity and at this stage opening a new plant in a different location altogether could make the entire scenario vulnerable. Drawbacks of not opening a new plant in Southern Europe are as follows: * Loose an opportunity to tap a lower cost labour market * Reduction in transportation costs had a new plant come up in Southern Europe * Would not be able to offset the protectionist sentiment in both France and Italy However, if we do an analysis of the options provided based on the cost and complications, this is what we get: | EXPANSION AT UNIPLANT | A NEW PLANT IN SOUTHERN EUROPE | Land cost | Dfl. 500,000 per hectare | Dfl. 4 million per hectare | Equipment Cost | Cost same for both | ... Environment Is Complex Of Natural And Anthropogenic Factors Environment is complex of natural and anthropogenic factors and components that are in a state of mutual dependence and affect the ecological balance and quality of life, health, cultural, and historical heritage. The natural environment is the set of living and non living things on Earth which occur in a state substantially not influenced by humans. In this moment, I felt a known, pleasant aroma. It was the aroma of wild strawberries my favorite aroma from my childhood. When I was a kid in Bulgaria, my parents and I used to go in the woods and pick wild strawberries every summer. Since then, this aroma is my favorite fruit aroma. I can recognize it everywhere in the world. This was one of my first connections with the nature. I looked around weeds everywhere. I knew that wild strawberries would be here. I bent over and started to search for them. They were everywhere between the weeds. Wild strawberries are red, and as small as a human nail. They are so small and so delicious. I usually like to wash my fruits very well, but not these ones. I started to eat them right away. The wild strawberries are sweet creation of nature. It had been more than 10 years since I ate wild strawberries. I heard a noise. People were coming. I sat on the ground and waited for them to pass us. They didn t even notice the aroma of wild strawberries. They were too busy. I only greeted them, I didn t want to share my gold with the busy strangers. They left. I kept looking for more strawberries. I ate about fifteen and saved a couple for my husband. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Before you visit your optometrist s office, here are some merits of each option to help you decide: Glasses: Easy to clean: Unless you are perspiring heavily or get something splashed on your glasses, they will usually only require a soft cloth to rub any dust or dirt away. If they have spots of sweat or other liquids, this can be removed with a mild solution of warm water and dish soap. Low chance of eye infection: Unlike contact lenses that are placed on your eyeball, glasses rest upon your face. Because there is less potential for glasses to spread germs to your eyes, you will have a lower risk of eye infection than than if you were wearing contact lenses. Contact lenses will never fog, no matter the temperature difference. More natural vision: With contact lenses, your entire field of vision is corrected. No matter how skilled your optometrist is, eyeglasses will have at least mild distortion around the edges due to their shape. • 44. A Brief Note On Conflict Analysis Using Ssam Conflict Analysis using SSAM After the 10 simulations for each intersection were completed in VISSIM, their respective outputs were imported in SSAM. The analysis in SSAM resulted in possible conflicts generated at each intersection. As mentioned earlier, the results from the SSAM analysis were filtered to remove any uncertainties, including possible conflicts of pedestrians. The filters used are explained in Table 3 (Section 2.5.3). Per Saleem (2012), the principal reason for removing the pedestrian conflicts is that in his study only vehicle to vehicle crashes are modeled. In the same way, this study only focuses on evaluating safety of signalized intersections with the presence of automated vehicles without including pedestrians due to ... Using the method studied by Shahdah, Saccomanno, Persaud (2014) to predict the CMF based on simulated conflicts, the total predicted crashes after the countermeasure was applied (crashes at 100% AV and crashes at 50%AV) were divided by the total predicted crashes before the countermeasure was applied (crashes at 0%AV). This provided crash modification factors for the two AV penetration levels investigated in this study. Finally, to have a better perspective with regards to simulated conflicts and crashes, an average was calculated for each element used to calculate the CMFs for the four prediction models (crashes at 0%AV, crashes at 100%AV, crashes at 50%AV). With these new values, new CMFs were calculated for 100%AV and 50%AV with respect to the untreated site scenario of 0%AV. 3.5 Evaluation of Safety Treatments for Signalized Intersections After analyzing the safety of the 78 signalized intersections when introducing automated vehicles, this part of the research explored and evaluated the safety effects on crashes when hypothetical treatments were applied to selected intersections. The first safety treatment consisted of changing left turn operation from permissive to permissive protected. Permissive left turns can raise safety concerns since drivers take a higher risk in crossing the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many people claim to be patriotic or have a self professed love of country. However, the question that I will answer during this paper is whether there is a relationship between age and patriotism levels. While there may be other variables such as political party, race, or gender, I will be focusing on whether there is a relationship between different generations and their patriotism. It seems that while there may be other factors contributing to patriotism towards ones country the largest determining factor is age. The question about whether patriotism is different between ages is important because patriotism is what motivates us to participate in our civic duties. If young people have less love for their country that means they feel that their government is ultimately less legitimate. The government gains its power from the people, if the people do not love their country then the government has no power. Further, if there is a relationship between patriotism and age that could point to different feelings each generation has for the country. Also, if there isn t any difference between different ages and patriotism that would suggest that each age group has the same level of love for their country and would further suggest that ... In every second, of every minute, of every hour, of every day, change occurs. All turning points in history, such as the fall of Rome, or the Industrial Revolution, or the Columbian Exchange, are just periods of time where change was taking place at a quick tempo. The 1920s are also a turning point in the history of America; in that decade, the United States emerges victorious from the brutality of World War I, the nineteenth amendment that allows women to vote is ratified, and social norms are challenged. Those that could adapt to the changing times would flourish in post war America, whereas those that could not depart ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
