The history of Texas A M University, the first public institution of higher education in Texas. The

Examples Of Ethical Coding In Health Care
Healthcare Coding and Billing Standards of ethical coding are very important and should not be
taken lightly. When guidelines are not followed it can lead to large fines and can even cause a
healthcare organization to shut down. Making a mistake or willingly coding wrong can ruin the
reputation throughout the community for healthcare. Coding compliance is inherently linked to a
number of the preceding compliance risk areas including proper documentation, accurate billing,
medical records creation and retention, referral guidelines, and teaching physician rules.
Acknowledging that one of the biggest areas of risk for health care providers is the accurate
submission of claims and reimbursement to Medicare, an effective health care corporate
compliance plan will also include an effective coding compliance plan (AAPC, 2009). According
to Bryant (2017) examples of ethical coding principles include applying accurate data, reporting
only correct codes, refusing to skew data, maintaining confidentiality, maintaining integrity, and no
participating in inappropriate activities. Supervising If I were a coding supervisor, I would place
great emphasis on the Standards of Ethical coding in my area. Making sure to review them with all

When the coding and billing is wrong it can greatly affect the budget. It not only includes the
coding staff but also the physicians. There is a wide variety of factors that go into the payments an
organization gets back. Sometimes physicians mean to order a test and they forget or they ordered
it and did not send it off and these types of things affect billing. An organization may have to have
an average budget because knowing up front what will be collected can change at any time. Also,
the reimbursements from insurances are different so it depends on what insurance each patient

Personal And Professional Accountability And Opportunities...
Regardless of what career a person holds, there will always be personal/professional
accountability and opportunities for advancement. The nursing profession is a unique field that
evolves based on evidence based practice as well as advances in medicine and technology. As
such, the nursing profession requires nurses to not only stay up to date about latest practices but
also advance themselves. One way that nurses stay current is by continuing to pursue advance
degrees and certificates through education and taking on higher positions in their profession.
Finally, nurses must be accountable for their actions both personally and personally in order to
protect their patient s privacy and health. For example, if a nurse makes a medication error and
reports it there is an increased chance of preventing harm and/or death of a patient. In the
following essay the writer will reflect on her personal and professional accountability as well as
what her career goals are for the future.
Personal and professional accountability is very important in nursing because it ensures that nurses
are providing safe and efficient patient care. Some personal strengths that this writer possess are
caring attitude and having work life balance. A few professional accountabilities that this writer
possess is good time management, not being prejudice towards co workers and/or patients and

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Dual Executive
The structure and formation of the EU executive has proved to be a major debate over the years.
The major question which continues to arise is: Should the EU have a dual executive where
policy making is divided amongst the Commission and the Council? Or should the EU have a
single institution where either the Commission or the Council has a more dominant and superior
leadership role? Simon Hix defines this dual executive model as a separation of powers (Hix and
Hoyland 2011). In order to understand whether this separation is good or bad we must outline the
power each institution has and inevitably their role in the formation of policy making in the
European Executive. Over the course of this essay I shall discuss the advantages and
disadvantages of a dual executive model on an EU level.
Before understanding the strengths and weaknesses of the dual executive we must recognise the
power of the Council and the Commission. Firstly, The Council (ie Council of Ministers) is an
institution which represents the interests of the member states. The Council has two main policy
making powers; to reject or pass proposals that derive from ... Show more content on

Today, Herman Van Rompuy is the president of the European Counciland Jean Claude Juncker is
the president of the European Commission. But the question is, who is the real leader? There are
imminent questions on who is responsible for what, who makes decisions and inevitably who do
we blame when things go wrong. Take a look at governments around the world. Not one
government beside the French government follow this dual character that being A Prime Minister
and President from different offices with separate powers. Instead democracies have chosen a
single executive where there is a clear leader with clear undertakings. The problem with two
separate leaders with equal power is that they have ill defined tasks. This is a serious drawback of

Jasper John s 1983 Artwork Of Racing Thoughts And Byron...
Jasper John s 1983 artwork of Racing Thoughts and Byron Kim s 1991 Synecdoche are both in the
exhibited as part of the Whitney Museum s: Human Interest: Portraits from the Whitney Collection.
Applying encaustic process, which is known as a hot wax painting, Jasper John created this screen
print with wax crayon on collaged cotton and linen. Jasper John describes this piece as a series of
images that ran through his mindwhile he was lying in the bathtub. He included items he saw
around the room and things he was thinking about. Some of the elements in this piece are his
hanging khaki pants, the running faucet, a nail on the wall, a dirty window, a vase and a
decorative piece on a piece of furniture. Until you read the artist s description it is difficult to tell
that the white smear of paint is, evoking a feeling of disorientation. His arrangement of his images
is seemingly affixed to the faux wood grain background with trompe l oeil tape, thumbtacks, and a
protruding nail. The scale of images in Jasper s Racing Thoughts appears to be scaled to real life.
The texture of the painting evokes feeling of an antique surrounding like a bathroom in a third
world country. In addition, the colors and patterns in this painting, display how he is a person with
many things going through his mind at the same time with unorganized thoughts. A panel of Byron
Kim s, 1991, Synecdoche is displayed in the Whitney Museum one section out of a four hundred

If more money circulates within the economy, the larger the multiplier effect will be . Therefore,
the economic impacts are vital to think of in the planning of state, regional and community and
economical development. They are the important factors in marketing and management decisions
as well.
2.2 The reason why economic impact is chosen
Tourism plays a vital role in economic development in most countries around the world. The
industry has not only direct economic impact, but also significant indirect and influential impacts.
There is agreement among experts that the travel and tourism sector is the fastest growing of global
economy. According to the latest UNWTO World Tourism Barometer, international tourism receipts
surpass US$ 1 trillion in 2011, growing about 3.8%up from 2010 (WTO, 2012).
Each year, hundreds of thousands people descend on the streets of Notting Hill, including
performers, DJs, bandleaders, traders, steelpan players and international visitors. The Notting Hill
Carnival is composed of several constituents, through costumes, steel bands, mobile and static
sound systems playing in the street to honour the freedom to walk the streets (ibid). While more
and more visitors crowd into the Notting Hill Carnival (see Table 1), it s not only useful to develop
its societal impact through education and the improvement policy of better racial harmony (ibid),
but also promote its economic

The argument in the scenario was being made between Abby and Estelle over the pigments in the

Estelle claimed that both the green and purple parts of the coleus plants consisted of chlorophyll. A

the mixture was dropped onto a slip of paper and the end was then placed into a solvent.

African-American Stereotypes
In the works Let the Great World Spin, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Jazz, and The Help,
the portrayals of African Americans reinforce established racial stereotypes. Dorcas and the
prostitutes represent the jezebel; the absent male is viewed and reinforced through the perspectives
of Violet, Golden Gray, and even Minny; Aibileen and Minny represent the mammies, and in a way,
Jim is Huck s mammy too. While there are instances in all four novels of characters challenging
stereotypes, these characters primarily reinforce racial stereotypes.
The jezebel represents a female character who is sexually promiscuous and very sexualized. In
Jazz, by Toni Morrison, Dorcas aligns closely with the jezebel description. Dorcas wants to detach

Minny is described by the narrator as 33, black, plump and in uniform, rolls her eyes beneath a
crystal chandelier. She shouts up the mahogany stairwell (Stockett 6). The mammy character also
represents a female character who is sassy and not a threat to the household s male. Aibileen is
older than Minny, and her relatives before her were also housemaids who worked for white
families. Aibileen says: I know how to get them babies asleep, stop cryin and go in the toilet bowl
before they mommas even get outta bed in the mornin (Stockett 2). In The Adventures of
Huckleberry Finn, written by Mark Twain, the character who resembles the mammy the closest is
Jim. While Jim s physical description is not that of a mammy, his mentality is. From different
perspectives, Jim is Huck s mammy because of his guidance, superstitions, and parental like
figure all attributes of a mammy. Jim says: Lemme look at you chile, lemme feel o you. No, you
ain t dead! you s back again, live and soun, jis de same ole Huck de same ole Huck, thanks to
goodness! (Twain 325). Jim s parental like concern for Huck is similar to that of a nanny, and
specifically of Aibileen s, who cares very much for Mae Mobley. Three characters in particular,
Violet, Golden Gray, and Minny, reinforce the absent male stereotype
. Violet was born in the late
1800 s in Virginia. Her mother was Rose Dear, but her father, who was not named, left Violet s
family when she was very young.

The Movie Hunger Games Essay
The last movie is the novel adaptation, Hunger Games series came to a close on November 17,
2015. The final film in the series, Mockingjay Part 2, follows the same strategy as another young
adult movie franchise, Twilight. The book turned movie raised its nearly unknown cast to rock star
status and enormous profit.
This sci fi, adventure is violent. Scenes of blood oozing out of actors and actresses earned the PG
13 rating. The violence was spread evenly, however, the out the 137 minute duration of the movie.
The movie seemed timely as United States presidential candidates are dropping one by one in what
late night host Stephen Colbert calls The Hungry for Power Games .
The film s plot started off with a cliff hanger from Mockingjay Part 2. Immediately, the viewer
could sense the tying of loose ends. Some parts of the film were predictable, though. The motion
of this movie differed from the first two of the series. Mockingjay Parts One and Two almost feel
like completely different films. Screenwriters Peter Craig and Danny Strong had the task of
condensing Suzanne Collins award winning novel series plot in to a movie. Loyal Hunger Games
readers could attest to the lessened action and added description. Jon Kilik worked as co producer
with Nina Jacobson s Color Force Company.
According to an article in Forbes Magazine, the film s budget was $125 million. Although there
were no reported budget issues a major hurdle the cast and crew faced was the passing of a lead

Coca Cola, A Popular Beverage
In 1886 John Pemberton invented the popular beverage known as Coca Cola and sold it to
customers in a pharmacy in Atlanta, Georgia. People loved the sweet carbonated drink, and
sales skyrocketed. It was not until almost a century later in the summer of 1980 that Jack Carew
was appointed to lead a project to introduce a diet version of Coca Cola. Since, at the time
consumers were moving to low or no calorie brands. And in 1982 at Radio City in New York
Diet Coke made its debut in the United States. Today, Diet Coke is now a popular beverage

N.d. Liberty Voice. Web. 17 May 2016. In addition to that, Diet coke also contains aspartame
(C14H18N2O5), which is a low calorie sweetener used to replace the sugar found in regular
Coca Cola. It is composed of two amino acids, phenylalanine and aspartic acid. Although these
amino acids are not found to be harmful by themselves, when aspartame is consumed it is
broken down in the body to aspartic acid, phenylalanine, and methanol, which in large amounts
can be harmful. But since aspartame is about 200 times as sweet as regular sugar, much less of it
can be used for the same amount of sweetness, leading to fewer calories in the food or beverage
being consumed. And although aspartame s main purpose is to reduce weight gain, this artificial
sweetener may actually be doing the opposite. Some studies suggest that when our taste buds
sense sweetness, the body expects a calorie load to accompany it. When that doesn t happen, it
may cause us to overeat because we crave the energy rush our body was expecting, says Cheryl
Forberg R.D., author of Flavor First. What this means is that after drinking artificial sweeteners,
naturally sweet foods such as apples, blueberries, and strawberries no longer seem sweet enough.
The reason for this is because when your body tastes something sweet it releases insulin into the
bloodstream to absorb the sugar. Normally this would not be a problem, but since aspartame is an
artificial sweetener there

of this paper will be how my personality has developed over time. As I age and encounter new
and different experiences, my personality has adapted and developed further. This paper will give

The Impact Of War In A Separate Peace, By John Knowles
Imagine going to war right after graduating high school. How would you feel if you or your
friends had to go to war right after graduating? How do you think a war would impact your life if
you had to go to war right after graduating? War plays a key role in the story, A Separate Peace, by
John Knowles. Throughout A Separate Peace, the outcome of the waris showcased. The impacts of
war can be overwhelming and disheartening but can also be beneficial for some individuals. War
is capable of completely changing an individual s life. In A Separate Peace, this message is seen
when war impacts Phineas, Leper, and Gene remarkably.
To begin, the impact war has on Phineas s life is clearly demonstrable.War has dramatically
changed his life, he views everything in a different perspective and tries to relate almost
everything to war. Phineas jumps off the tree branches into the river because he thinks it helps
him prepare for war and believes it makes him a man. In Devon School, it is forbidden to jump
into the river. Despite the fact that jumping out of the tree is forbidden, Phineas continues to jump
out of the tree, showing his manliness. Phineas believes he has to jump out of the tree because
[he is] getting ready for the war (Knowles 22). One particular event when Phineas attempts to
jump out of the tree he injures himself. Phineas would not have got injured if it was not for war.
War is what ignites the fire in Phineas to jump off the tree over and over again. As a result of

Julius Cicero Research Paper
Marcus Tullius Cicero was murdered on December 7, 43 B.C.E. which was around the time of
the fall of the Roman Republic. Cicero was many things such as an orator, lawyer, politician,
philosopher, and writer. His writings, to this day, are a valuable source of information about such
political events and was widely read in the 19th century. He also was dubbed one of the greatest
philosophers of the ancient era. One of his greatest pieces was Hortensius. This writing was based
on himself turning away from his sinful life and moving forward to God.
1.Cicero s Life
Cicero had a great political career. He defied the odds of what it took to be in politics. Usually, in
politics, you need to aristocratic and wealthy. Cicero and his family were aristocratic; however,
they were not wealthy. Ambition at a young age is what drove him to this success.
Cicero chose his career in law. He needed to prepare for this by studying jurisprudence, rhetoric,

more concerned about politics and their governance. In order for philosophy to appeal to the
Romans, he had to translate his writing from Greek to Latin. Cicero wrote many different dialogues
about his philosophies. However, one piece that was well known was the Hortensius. In that
dialogue, he was known to have converted St. Augustine to be a Christian. Augustine then adopted
some of his philosophy on the Hortensius to argue against others that Christians were not the cause
to the fall of the Roman empire. This related to the work that was done after Caesar took over the

because of a worrisome chest pain, George overheard the doctor speak on the phone about a patient
that was dying. Due to a misinterpretation, George automatically assumed that he was the patient
being discussed. When reviewing his behavior, it is evident that George has the somatoform disorder

This concern later ripples into a series of important events that allow the plot to develop, such as
picking his wife s second husband for when he dies and buying cemetery plots for the three of
them. George does all of this without notifying his wife of what he believes to be his imminent
death. When he eventually does tell his wife that he thinks he is dying, she takes care of him and
he progressively seems to get worse with each passing day. It is clear that the sympathy he
received encouraged his complaints and led to the self induced illusion that his body was slowly
dying. In the end, they both find out in different ways that George s chest pain had been due to
indigestion and the confusion is cleared up. The entire situation showed George that he was
overreacting. The audience can tell that he has overcome his hypochondria because the movie

Rhetorical Analysis Of Pope Francis
I will be analyzing the speech of Pope Francis to a Joint Session of Congress from September of
2015 in Washington, D.C. for my final rhetorical analysis. This speech is important because it
addresses societal issues in the United States and the whole world such as poverty, religion, war, the
environment, immigration, and gun laws. The popenot only addresses the issues, but also
acknowledges many of the marvelous features of America. In this paper, I will provide a
summary of research I found on the context of the speech, the speaker, the audience, and the
effects the speech had on society. Pope Francis is the present day spiritual leader of the Catholic
Church, also known as the bishop of Rome or pontiff. He is the very first pope from Latin
American, Argentina specifically, and is now known as the first pope ever that has addressed
Congress. According to the guardian.com, Pope Francis, electrified Congress with a call for
action on climate change, immigration, poverty and capital punishment, laying down a
challenge for the United States to transcend division and rediscover its ideals (Carroll 1). He
addressed these issues and drew a great interest from the audience for fifty one minutes in the
chamber of the House of Representatives. The audience of the speech consisted of a large
number of lawmakers, aides, and invited guests. The New York Times, referenced some of the
people that attended: Sitting behind Francis were Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. and House
Speaker John A. Boehner, both Catholics. Flanking the aisle at the front were Secretary of State
John Kerry and Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr., and not far behind them was Nancy Pelosi, the
House Democratic leader, all Catholics (Baker, Yardley 17). Others in the audience included three
other Supreme Court associate justices, Justice Anthony Kennedy, Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, and
Justice Sonia Sotomayor, other cabinet members, senators, House members, presidential candidates,
a few four star generals, priests, nuns, and bishops. According to the New York Times, the
lawmakers interrupted Pope Francis about thirty times applauding him, causing the speech to run
fifty one minutes when originally scheduled for thirty. *****add

Narrative Essay On Lilly Looking Through
Lilly Looking Through introduces us to Lilly, a charming young girl with a bit of a predicament.
Her brother, Row, managed to get himself entangled in what appears to be a magical red scarf
which whisked him away to parts unknown. Lilly immediately sets out to rescue her sibling and
while there are numerous obstacles in her way she does have a rather special set of goggles to help
her out.
In the rush of AAA tittles vying for your attention this Christmas season it would be easy to

Alice Walker and the Color Purple
Alice Walker is an African American woman s activist/feminist and author who was born in the
early 1940s, in Eatonton, Georgia. Walker lived in the the rural south at a time when there were
heavy poverty and racial violence amongst most African Americans. The circumstances that
Walker faced ended up contributing to the person that she is today and it is reflected in many of
her novels. Even throughout the trials and tribulations that Walker endured, she was still able to
succeed in life. As a young child, Walker had an accident with a BB gun and ended up going
blind in one eye. Because of this injury, this turned Walker into a very timid and shy child, Walker
eventually graduated and left home to go to college and later got involved in the civil rights
movement in Mississippi. Many years later in Walkers young adult life, she endured major
depression from having to deal with the termination of her pregnancy. In the 1960s, she returned to
Mississippi, where she met a Jewish civil rights law student named Mel Leventhal, where they
eventually married and moved to Mississippi. Alice eventually got pregnant, but unfortunately
miscarried the baby. Over the years, she channeled many of the experiences that she faced into
fictional stories about the lives of blacks in America, especially woman in the South. The
characters in Walkers writings faced a lot of the same trials that Walker herself endured such as,
racism, violence, discrimination of woman, low self esteem, and etc. In the

Comparing Krapp s Last Tape And Embers By Samuel Beckett
Suffering: an endless cycle Through the pieces of Krapp s Last Tape and Embers, playwright
Samuel Beckett explores the infallibility of memory and language. Beckett spent time in WWII as
a member of the French Resistance. His duty as part of the resistance was to type and translate
information about the Germans. World War II s influence on Beckett s writing comes through the
character s inability to articulate the conscious self in the language one wishes to express
themselves in. To escape the constrictions of language, Beckett became a playwright. Beckett asks
the reader to grapple with their own existence and their reliance on memory through Krapp, who is
unable to remember his past, and Henry who is unable to forget. With this reliance... Show more

If a person refuses to see another person, does that person cease to exist? The obvious answer is
of course not. Closing your eyes to someone doesn t make them disappear to the world. They
disappear in your world. So it is essentially becoming nonexistent. This reminds me of a How I
Met Your Mother episode, the one where Lily tells people, You re dead to me and they make the
person she s looking at blow up and vanish. Or the saying if a tree falls in the woods and no one
is around to hear it does it still make a sound. Rational thought knows that just because a person
states You re dead to me that they re still alive and very much there, but they also know the
feeling of being invisible and nonexistent to someone. Henry was locked out emotionally from his
father, and felt the pain of being invisible. His father retracted Henry s existence and Embers seems
to be about his trying to reclaim his life without success. He perpetuated his father s attitude
towards him. No matter what he tried to do, he only continued the cycle of

My Life On The Reservation Research Paper
MY AUGUST RUSH
Not many knows this about me, where and how I grew up. I was born in San Francisco, CA, and
at the age of 3, my abusive, alcoholic parents abandoned me. I don t remember how long I was
left alone in that apartment until CPS was called, but I do remember being hungry, alone, scared,
and what it was liked to not be loved or wanted. I spent the first 15 years of my young life split
between two culturally different families, my father s side of the family lived in San Francisco, and
my mother s side lived on the Hoopa Valley Indian Reservation, Trinity Klamath, CA. I had to
spend 6 moths in San Francisco and 6 months on the reservation, I was either beginning school in
San Francisco and ending school on the reservation, or vice versa. Reflecting back on my
childhood memories is not an easy task for me, especially those confusing early years in my
childhood. Although they were only 600 700 miles apart, as far as I was concerned, they were
culturally two worlds apart. Life at the reservation was poor, we had a one room school house,
and it was warm, cozy, small, and family. In San Francisco the schools were over crowed, large,
cold and unwelcoming. The teachers never remembered your names; you were assigned seats that
had your name taped to the top of the desks. The schools were not poor, we had our own books
and supplies, and on the reservation we shared books and supplies. Everyone knew your name,
including the teacher. There were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Human Cloning is an Ethical Nightmare Essay examples
Technology today is growing at an alarming rate. Things that seemed impossible only a few
years ago are now a reality, and some far fetched things such as time travel, that are present in
today s science fiction movies, might possibly become reality soon as well. One prevalent idea
that seemed impossible a few years ago but that is now a reality is the idea of humancloning. The
fantasy that some people had about having clones of themselves or of animals a few years ago is
not a fantasy anymore; it is a reality. With the recent cloning of a sheep named Dolly by scientists
in Scotland, the powers of cloning are becoming more prevalent. As daunting as this may seem, the
human race must now face all the issues related to human cloning,... Show more content on

Gene and cellular cloning are realities in today s world, but the concept of whole organism
cloning has not yet been implemented. Shannon goes on to say, Gene and cell cloning are well
established, standard biotechnical research methods and must be distinguished and discussed
separately from organism cloning (10). Cloning is not that complicated of an issue as the media
has made it out to be. It is, in reality, a simple process that can be understood once its intricacies
are sorted out.
Although the majority of arguments for human cloning come from the medical world, many
secular ones arise in the debate as well. Nancy Murphy of the Fuller Theological Seminary in
Pasadena said she hoped that ethicists, `Would concentrate their efforts on saying what we should
do with this [cloning], rather then saying it shouldn t be done, because people have rightly said it
can t be prevented. (Garvey 6). Along the lines of Murphy s thought on the issue, Shapiro provides
his insights:
Time is an ally, allowing for the accrual of further data from animal experiments, an assessment of
the prospective safety and efficiency of the procedure in humans, and a period of fuller national
debate on ethical and social concerns. If cloning is to be implemented sometime in the near future,
all these issues must be

Rocking Horse Winner and The Destructors
There are many differences and similarities between Graham Greene s The Destructors and D.H.
Lawrence s Rocking Horse Winner. One general difference is that in The Destructors the setting is
in Great Britain, after the bombing had happened during World War 1, when the buildings were
destroyed. The setting of Rocking Horse Winner is a suburban community located on the outskirts
of Baltimore, Maryland. This one distinct difference affects the entire background of each story.

The children in the story do not seem to be affected by this very much, since they have all pretty
much lived there entire lives like this, except T who comes from an upper class family but is
forced into poverty by the war. To him and the other boys in the story money seems to be of no
great significance. The awkward thing about the family in Rocking Horse Winner is that they all
maintain an upper class status even though they are short on money. This is hard on the family
especially the mother who can feel no love because of the stress that has been forced upon her
heart. The family still maintains there lifestyle as members of the upper class even though the line
of money continues to get shorter and shorter.
Money in each story is scarce, but how the characters in each story cope with this shortage is very
different. In Graham Greene s The Destructors the children know that they are not part of the upper
class but it has minimal affect to there ego or there self esteem. The need for money is not there. In
D.H. Lawrence s Rocking Horse Winner the affect is completely opposite. The family in Rocking

Politics Of Bad Ideas Analysis
In the The Politics of Bad Ideas, Bryan Jones and Walter Williams examine the United States
economic policies of the past quarter century and explore the policy practices of the nation, while
stressing the importance of evidence based policy. Jones, a political scientist, and Williams, an
economist, argue that the persistence of bad ideas in shaping American policy continues to exist,
despite evidence that certain policies do not work. The Politics of Bad Ideas examines why bad
economic ideas, such as cutting taxes without cutting spending, have become so influential in
shaping fiscal policies. Using in depth scholarly research and economic analysis, Jones and
Williams explore why these bad ideas continue to thrive, despite overwhelming evidence that they in
fact cause damage to the federal government s economy in the long run. The... Show more content

Whereas Democrats funded their programs from taxes, the role of the government massively
increased during the George W. Bush administration as a result of borrowing as a means of

deficit and national debt. Jones and Williams stress that cutting taxes has never led to increased tax
revenues despite the rhetoric from Republicans and conservatives who say they do. According to
the data the authors present, the greater the Republican control of Congress the higher the growth
of spending. Thus, the fiscal conservatives who are proponents of small government are following
through with fiscal policies that are the opposite of their ideology. In fact, George W. Bush is the

Theme Of Perseverance In October Sky
It s not that I m so smart, it s just that I stay with problems longer, by Albert Einstein. By
persevering and not giving up, success can be reached. Perseverance is one of the themes in the
novel October Sky . This book revealed the life of a young boy, Homer Hickam Jr., also called
Sonny, who fought for his dream of building rockets against all odds amongst a small mining
town. As time elapsed in the novel, Sonny matured and learned many lessons about rocketry and
life, such as pursuing a dream, the influence of an important person, personal ambition versus
loyalty to someone else... Amongst all the important themes in the novel, persevering against all
odds is the most important one. The Rocket Boys faced countless failure and errors during their
rocket building. With almost no support from the rest of the town, the Rocket Boys had barely any

Women During Ww2
Women during World War II World War II caused a shift in the gender roles and stereotypes.
While some countries saw progress: United States, France, Britain, Italy and the Soviet Union,
others oppressed women: Germany and Japan. In countries like the United States and Britain,
women began joining the workforce and the military. French women fought for the Resistance
against Germany when the Germans occupied France. Even though Italy was allied with
Germany and a Nazi country, many women resisted fascism and assisted Jewish people. Many
Soviet women flew fighter planes, some of the first women to do so. Japanese women were

Women were a staple in this movement, working in factories making things like silk and
textiles. While these women were crucial, they often did not have a lot of money or a husband.
The reason many of them did not have husbands is because women were supposed to stop being
paid for work after they got married. They were still expected to be hard workers for the family
after marriage, but also be submissive and compliant. In the first 40 years of the 20th century,
this became even more enforced. This meant that in 1937, when the Pacific War began, women
were discouraged from joining the armed forces. By 1943, Japan was having the same problems
as many other countries: so many men in the military were dying, so women had to step up and
begin taking over jobs on the homefront. By 1944, over four million women were working.
Anyone considered fit to work was required to. Women fit to work were not married and over the
age of 15. Although not required, married women were also pushed to work. There were not
nearly as many Japanese women working as there were American, but their involvement in
wartime efforts was still a crucial part of Japan s history. Japanese women in the workforce
during World War II were paid less than men and the conditions afforded them were horrible.
Food was scarce, factories were loud and unclean; and the work was difficult. Many women were
required to stay in confined living quarters behind factories. When the war ended and American
military began moving into Japan, they freed working women and attempted to give them many of
the same rights that Western women had. These rights were not being required to stop working for
wages after marriage and other restrictions placed on them. Neither entering the workforce nor the
demands of Americans gave Japanese women any real change. They hardly had any freedom

Chronic Health Issues Research Paper
As a medical student, regardless of the field in which you wish to develop your expertise, the

these patients, they live with debilitating conditions that really impact their quality of life. Some are

patients with diagnosed chronic health concerns is important as it helps to provide a holistic

Actually, depression is one of the most common side effects of chronic illness. Living with a
condition that robs you of your ability to enjoy even the simplest things in life is devastating, so
it s not hard to draw a connection between chronic illness and feelings of despair. Limited
mobility, loss of independence and the growing burden on loved ones weighs heavily on the minds
of many patients. In some cases, the physical effects of the illness, or even the side effects of the
medication used can also lead to mental health issues.
Working with patients with chronic healthcare concerns required a happy balance of physical,
mental and emotional support. Treating the condition with a holistic approach helps to elevate the

Picasso Female Complex
Pablo Picasso: The Female Complex Many artists develop their works from their most
compelling moments in life, whether they are filled with excruciating pain or unspeakable joy.
Pablo Picasso creates work based on a multitude of influences in his life, from the suicide of his
best friend to the rising of his career (Bio). However, a single theme reoccurs throughout his life
that most would argue causes him to create some of the greatest paintings of his time: women.
Critics shaped the different phases of his art into periods such as the Blue Period, Rose Period,
CubismPeriod, Surrealist Period, and Self Portrait Period (Bio). His art was manipulated based
on the dominant state of mind he was in during these stages of life, and many of the emotions
had to do with the women he was involved with at the time. Though one might think that an artist
who places such a passionate focus on women must deeply admire and respect them, Picasso
does not fit into this standard. He actually felt a very strong sense of superiority to females,
painting them as objects: cold, faceless, and purely created for sexual satisfaction (Withers 1).
However, evidence strongly suggests that he probably feared them more than anything else. Every
single one of his periods of art are heavily ruled by paintings of women, particularly nude, that tell
a story about an experience he had; if he was so affected by women that he spent countless hours
painting about it, there had to have been more going on

Poloniusturns into this ruthless politician that won t stop at anything in order to manipulate and
keep his status in the kingdom; Polonius as the brilliant mastermind that he is, is always on the
prowl for any information he can get his hands on; he sleeps with one eye open and an ear on the

Polonius is cleric who worries about his son Laertes s possible behavior, and how his son s
behavior might reflect bad on him. In previous acts Polonius gives Laertes sound advice so he
doesn t go embarrassed himself when he gets to France. Polonius worries about his son s

Dramatic Change In Night By Elie Wiesel
In Elie Wiesel s memoir, Night , readers see a dramatic change from the young, sensitive and
spiritual individual to a, boy with the mindset of an adult that is spiritually dead and is unemotional.
Elie shows this in his memoir by rewriting what he saw, thought, or what he heard while in
concentration camps, this occurs, in the three sections of the memoir.
In the first section of the book, Eile begins the transformation from a sensitive and spiritual boy to
the opposite. Elie starts describes the first night, he was in a concentration camp, and how that
affected him through sight, by saying Never shall I forget the little faces of the children whose
bodies I saw turn into wreaths of smoke beneath a silent blue sky. Never shall I forget those... Show

As Elie describes what occurred after his father s death, There were not prayers at his grave. No
candles were lit to his memory. His last word was my name. A summons, to which I did not
respond (Wiesel, 106). In this, Elie describes what happened after his father died, and how he
was religiously summoned, but there was no faith left in him to respond. I believe this is this is
the ultimate low in Elie s religion, seeing that he could not even pray over his father, or respond
to the summons. This might be the low of his religion, the low of Elie s emotion is quite
horrible. Elie sees himself for the first time after being liberated, From the depths of the mirror, a
corpse gazed back at me. The look in his eyes, as they sated into mine, has never left me (Wiesel,
109). This is the most powerful phrase from the book that describes how he felt, about himself.
This is clearly shown through the use of his instead of my, he had to describe the look in his eyes
as someone else s. Thus showing, the distaste of his own self as he came out of the Holocaust and
wanting to now live a normal life. Through Elie s use of a 3rd person possessive pronoun, he is able
to create such meaning behind only a singular word. Elie also uses such harsh situations to point

Communication Plan An organization can offer several different types of retirement plans to their

retirement needs but also beneficial to the company at the same time. Section 401(k) plans,

The employer is also responsible for ensuring that there is at least one trustee that would handle
the contribution investment and distribution of the 401(k) plan. Keeping good records of all
contributions that are made and put into the account is very important. Recordkeeping helps to
keep the system accurate and helps track the earning and loses of the investment plan, and the
expenses and benefit distributions to the participants accounts. Employees must have a plan
provided to them from their employer that includes all information on eligibility of the benefits
and the requirements. The advantages and disadvanages should be stated and a short summary
of the plan that will be provided. This is a must in any organization when offering a 401(k)
compensation plan. ESOPs ESOP which also stands for Employee Stock Ownership Plan is a
retirement plan that is similar to profit sharing. A trust fund is set up through the organization and
then the organization contributes new shares to buy new assets or existing stock. An organization
is able to borrow money from the ESOP to make cash payments to replay their loans. When a
company is looking to pay off current debt or expand business this plan could be beneficial. An

Hum 115 Oil Pipeline Research Paper
Oil Pipelines Opposing Viewpoints Clayton Brooks HUM/115 Dr. Disque Oil Pipelines
Opposing View Points Pipeline is the best alternative and safest mode of transporting fuel
compared to freight trains or tanker tracks. However, there are those who argue that it is not safe
because of lack of adequate resources to inspect them, as well as the absence of regulations
regarding the use of a pipeline to transport fuel. Equally important, another issue is the great hazard
to human life and environment that can be difficult to control or eliminate in case of a spill.
Explanation of Two Different Points of View Regarding the Topic Opponents of the use of the
pipeline mode to transport fuel claim that it is responsible for numerous deaths that occur annually.
The rate of increased accidents is attributable to the fact that as a mode of fuel transportation,

The authors contend that a majority of individuals often confuse ethics with acting in line with the
law, religious beliefs, and social conventions. Consequently, people depend on various principles
and concepts to differentiate between helpful and harmful behaviors. The opponents base their
arguments regarding the topic on the concept of law. According to their arguments, the pipeline
unlike other modes of transporting fuel is not well regulated. Likewise, its accidents are
catastrophic and often attract the attention of the government and the media. Therefore, the pipeline
should not be utilized as an alternative to transporting fuel because it is quite dangerous. However,
those with the opposing viewpoints base their arguments on social conventions. The opponents
claim that the pipeline is the safest way because the fatalities that result from the use of tanks or

Concussions In Youth Hockey
New rules that are implemented resulting in less penalty minutes for aggressive play (Mick).
These rules are extremely important in youth hockey, bantams especially. The bantam age group
is the age most boys start growing and get more muscular and more prone to aggressive play. This
can cause tremendous injury to a player if one does not think before he hits another player. Many
of the players do not understand how dangerous these acts really can be. The human body is not
invincible, although many think they are. The increase of body checking rules has decreased the
injuries that usually come from these hits about three to twelve times lower. Fifteen percent of the
injuries resulting from a body check are concussions (Mick). Concussions are... Show more content

Hockey is a fast paced sport with little time to react or prepare for a hit correctly. The knowledge
of knowing how to take a hit is just as important on how to distribute a hit. Both can cause
significant harm to both players if not done right. The biggest rule to follow when you are about
to get hit is to have a low base. This means to have your knees bent at about ninety or so degrees
and to put most of your weight on the ball of your foot. This way your center of gravity is lower
and you have more balance. This also protects more of your limbs from getting hit. As opposed
to standing up with makes you unbalanced and prone to worse injuries. Another crucial part of
the game is how you give a hit. Many clinics have been set up to show how to properly hit, but
boys tend to ignore the rules and just try to hit someone has hard as they can. This is why during
practice during the regular season it should be practiced on at least once every week or two
weeks. But even the knowledge of how to hit and how to take a hit isn t enough. Proper stretching
and strength training has proven to strengthen muscles and to allow flexibility and decrease
injuries (Mick). More players should take advantage of doing a full, warm up before a game. This
decreases chance of injury while also increasing the performance of the

Charactersitics of a Museum, Questions and Answers
1.What are, in your opinion, the characteristics of the museum idea?
As I remember from my travelling experience, a museum exists in each city, even the smallest one
and sometimes even in villages. Visiting a museum at least once a year is a compulsory part of any
school programme in my country, Russia. However, what is a museum? What are reasons for its
existing? Who and how chooses display units for exhibitions from the huge variety of items in the
world?
All these questions can be answered if to determine the characteristics of the museum idea.
Museums are public instituitons. Their number has increased and their role has transformed over
the last fifty years. They attract a great number of people, from tourists to citizens, from children to
adults. However, in order to understand which institution can be called a museum, it is necessary to
examine the main objectives of its existence.
The most obvious aim is an educational one since museums serve for society in order to conserve,
research and communicate material evidence of people and their environment. Museums give
people the opportunity to determine their place in the world, understand their cultural identity,
develop self respect and respect for others. Nethertheless, to conduct this educational mission,
careful and meaningful selection of objects is required. After being chosen, all the items need to be
preserved for future generations under proper conserving conditions such as good light, air
conditioning,

Narrative Essay On The Tower Of Heaven
Trapped in a tower far away from in the middle of the ocean. Kids were caught and taken to the
Tower Of Heaven, where they would work on building the tower higher until they die either
from age or from the beatings. In a cell there was a girl named Erza who would be always be
alone except when she was with her friends, and a boy named Jellal who would find himself with
Erza. They were amazing friends until one fateful day. Everyone who was taken young or old
was getting tired of being pushed around, but if you ever spoke up you would either be taken
away and never seen again or you would be shot with a magic bullet. Jellal was one of the people
who never gave up hope on one day escaping, so he devised a plan and took Erza, Lilly, and Buck
with him so that they could all break out and find their families once more. Everything was
going great until a cadet heard them coming and called for backup. When the captain came, he
asked the group of kids who was the one leading them. A message came on his communicator
and the kids took this time to think about what they are going to do. Jellal said they he was the
one leading him so he should be the one that is taken, but Erza could not accept and said that she
should be the one to be taken so Jellal can continue to lead them. Jellal didn t like her plan and
everyone agreed with him that it should be him to be taken away. Erza still couldn t accept the
plan. When the captains focus went back to the group of kids he asked once more,

Bloody Cartoons Essay
Bloody Cartoons: Freedom of Expression and the Clash of Cultures
The documentary that I chose to watch is a documentary called Bloody Cartoons. The documentary
follows Karsten Kjaer around Denmark, Lebanon, Syria, Iran, Qatar, Turkey and France. Kjaer is a
Danish filmmaker who covers the uproar the representation of Mohammed in the Danish cartoons
caused within Muslims around the world. The film infers the extraordinary commitment and values
Muslims have towards their faith of Islam and its purpose was to show how certain freedoms of
one culture can and did offend the values and beliefs of another. It does a good job of presenting
both points of view of the topic of issue while effectively using Ethos, Pathos and Logos to aid in
the persuasion of both sides. Interviews with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Bloody Cartoons was very informational and the fact that it showed problems faced by the
producer while filming made it more impactful. It showed how far the producer was to go to get
the most out of everyone s point of view. The fact that the film did not edit these problems lets
the viewers a more tangible sense of how this subject impacts the lives and feelings of the people
involved. The film was a success in informing us of how society has come a long way, giving
more freedoms and rights but also includes how some of these can offend others perceptions and
beliefs.
I would recommend this documentary because it projects the impact of these cartoons on both the
makers of these and the community it offends all while giving history on why it is offensive to

The Veldt, By George And Lydia Hadley
In The Veldt, George and Lydia Hadley are the parents of Wendy and Peter Hadley, and they live
in a technologically driven house that will do everything for its inhabitants transport them
upstairs, brushes their teeth, cook their food, and clean the house. The story begins when Lydia
asks George if he s noticed anything wrong with the nursery, the most expensive and exciting
room of the house. The glass walls have the ability to project the landscape and environment of
any place that the mind of the visitor wishes. During this particular visit, George and Lydia are
surrounded by the African countryside. In the distance, lions are licking the bones of their prey
clean. The images are so startlingly life like that when the holographic lions begin to charge,
George and Lydia run for the door to escape. Outside of the nursery, Lydia comments that she
heard screams coming from the room earlier in the day, but George tries to ease her worries. He
wants to believe that the children are psychologically healthy, not that they are fixated on blood
and violence. After all, one of the selling points of the room was that the children would be able to
use the room as an outlet for their emotions, and the places that the room visited would provide
information for the adults who were curious about the young minds. Lydia senses that something
dark is brooding in her children s brain. As they sit down to dinner, which is all provided through
the house s technology, George suggests

Negative Ambition In Macbeth
Negative ambition fills the minds of many people across the world. However, we are going to
look at a specific example from the play Macbeth by William Shakespeare. The main character
from this play is Macbeth who is struggling with an ambition to become the king of Scotland. This
paper will demonstrate that Macbethis an accurate example of negative ambition. Ambition is the
desire for something and the determination to achieve that desire. Ambition can be classified in
two different ways. The first, positive ambition, can be summed up as the desire to get better as
a human. There are so many problems that can occur during a human s life on earth and through
positive ambition one can help themselves overcome their problems. For instance if you take the
situation of an individual with cancer. A majority of successful survivors of cancer have the
desire to get back to normal health. To accomplish this the patients must go through a lot of pain
and struggle but positive ambition can help them push through. The second classification of
ambition is negative ambition. Negative ambition can be summed up as having the desire for
something and the determination to achieve it but often at the personal loss of others. Many
examples include murdering for a gain of power, lying to improve your wealth, or stealing to
improve your lifestyle. These people all have the characteristics of ambition but are using their
ambition at the cost of others. They are using their ambition for gain while taking from others.
We find ambition at the heart of many scenes in the play Macbeth. In scene three we first learn of
Macbeth s desire to become king. Macbeth says this, If Chance will have me king, why, chance
may crown me Without my stir. (1,3, 143 144). In this quote, after Macbeth hears the witches
prophecy of him becoming king, Macbeth implies that he will gladly take the throne without
question. However, ambition consists of both desire and determination and Macbeth has not
shown any determination until Act two scene one when he says this I go, and it is done. The bell
invites me. Hear it not, Duncan, for it is a knell That summons thee to heaven or to hell. ( 2,1, 62
64). In this section of Macbeth s soliloquy, Macbeth

Is Evolution Theory True
Evolution theory is not true because it gives a vague explanation of how the world developed to
be what it is today and it also fails to explain why it is no longer going on today. As absurd as it is
there are people in the world today who believe it majority of them being atheist. There have been
attempts to dethrone Godfrom His rightful position as a creator and at the helm of this is evolution
theory. The bible clearly states that the world is 6,000 years today but when you read scientific
articles it will tell you the world has been in existence for billions of years. There are mysteries in
nature that show that God exists and how He affects our daily life. For instance, the electrifying eel

Living Conditions During The Industrial Revolution
The industrial revolution! Like its name suggests was a revolution that lead to a period where
radical changes transformed Britain s social classes, it s economy, and was the transition to new
manufacturing processes. By hearing this, many people think of the industrial revolution as being a
change that led to a greater standard of living because machines allowed a greater number of goods
to be produced that were impossible to produce before. There is no doubt that the economic growth
that was seen during this period still fuels the present state of Britain today. Most historians talk
about the industrial revolutionas the booming period that led to many changes which greatly
benefitted society, but many forget the opposite side of this all.... Show more content on

Workers were required to work long hours in the factories with little attention given to how they
were performing after they became increasingly tired. Workers were given long hours of labour
in which there was no break, they just had to repeat the same task over and over again (Fielden,
1836). This was because factories did not want to stop their production of goods which filled the
pockets of the already wealthy factory owners. Similarly, workers who wanted to rebel against
the customs feared that the legislation would not pass and they would have to leave their job
and end up on the street (Fielden, 1836).Therefore, workers were not only helpless to work for
endless hours; they were also suppressed and could not raise their voice against the wrongdoings
that were being forced upon them. The working class was mistreated because they could not object
to the system, since there were no rights for workers during the first phase of the industrial
revolution as many people did not notice this ill treatment. These conditions had negative health
consequences on individuals which made them weak and unable to provide efficient labour. The
textile mills had a single small door from which workers were allowed to enter and exit, which
created a heated atmosphere unfit for survival (Gaskell, 1833). As described, the atmosphere

Forms of Business Organisation
1. Sole trader businesses are the easiest to set up because there is no complex paperwork. The
business and the owner are the same person in law. The sole trader does not have limited liability
which means that they are responsible for all the debts of the business. The sole trader has to
produce an annual accounting return for the Inland Revenue.
2. Partnerships are set up by a Deed of Partnership which is a document made out by the partners
and witnessed by a solicitor. This Deed sets out the legal relationship between partners e.g. how
profits will be shared out, responsibilities of partners etc. In traditional partnerships the partners had
unlimited liability i.e. they were jointly responsible for the debts of their partnership. In ... Show

These departments will provide back up support and training.
Organisations are structured in different ways:
1. By function as described above
2. By regional area a geographical structure e.g. with a marketing manager North, marketing
manager South etc
3. By product e.g. marketing manager crisps, marketing manager drinks, etc
4. Into work teams, etc.
Reporting in organisations often takes place down the line. An employee might be accountable to a
supervisor, who is accountable to a junior manager, who is then accountable to a senior manager
communication and instructions can then be passed down the line.
Formal organisation
An organisation chart outlines the formal chain of command and communications within an
organisation. This is the official structure that is backed up by rules and procedures. You must
remember however, that what you see on paper is often very different from the way that things
work in the real world. An individual with a strong personality can play an important part in the
running of an organisation, although he or she may appear near to the bottom of the chart.
In the formal organisational structure there will be patterns of communication and procedures for
decision making. Some organisations will have tall structures with lots of layers of command. Other
organisations are relatively flat.

The Censorship Of Art Essay

Government officials and raving mad protesters alike have been trying to stop the expressive

happened in museums all over the world recently that would have made Michelangelo and DiVinchi

about the control the church has had on artistic expression since the beginning of time. When the
church has something to say everyone listens. It is amusing how when something offends the
church it quickly disappears. However, when these people see some bubble that looks like the
face of the Virgin Mary in a tortilla chip, they start worshiping it. Next comes a media circus and
before lunch it is all over CNN and every other news broadcast in the world. It is obvious the
government uses those situations to promote the Church and its ideals of acceptable art even if it is

As the 1960 s came to an end the meaning and importance of the first amendment became

  • 3. Examples Of Ethical Coding In Health Care Healthcare Coding and Billing Standards of ethical coding are very important and should not be taken lightly. When guidelines are not followed it can lead to large fines and can even cause a healthcare organization to shut down. Making a mistake or willingly coding wrong can ruin the reputation throughout the community for healthcare. Coding compliance is inherently linked to a number of the preceding compliance risk areas including proper documentation, accurate billing, medical records creation and retention, referral guidelines, and teaching physician rules. Acknowledging that one of the biggest areas of risk for health care providers is the accurate submission of claims and reimbursement to Medicare, an effective health care corporate compliance plan will also include an effective coding compliance plan (AAPC, 2009). According to Bryant (2017) examples of ethical coding principles include applying accurate data, reporting only correct codes, refusing to skew data, maintaining confidentiality, maintaining integrity, and no participating in inappropriate activities. Supervising If I were a coding supervisor, I would place great emphasis on the Standards of Ethical coding in my area. Making sure to review them with all staff... There is a wide variety of factors that go into the payments an organization gets back. • 5. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Dual Executive The structure and formation of the EU executive has proved to be a major debate over the years. The major question which continues to arise is: Should the EU have a dual executive where policy making is divided amongst the Commission and the Council? Or should the EU have a single institution where either the Commission or the Council has a more dominant and superior leadership role? Simon Hix defines this dual executive model as a separation of powers (Hix and Hoyland 2011). In order to understand whether this separation is good or bad we must outline the power each institution has and inevitably their role in the formation of policy making in the European Executive. Over the course of this essay I shall discuss the advantages and disadvantages of a dual executive model on an EU level. Before understanding the strengths and weaknesses of the dual executive we must recognise the power of the Council and the Commission. Jasper John s 1983 artwork of Racing Thoughts and Byron Kim s 1991 Synecdoche are both in the exhibited as part of the Whitney Museum s: Human Interest: Portraits from the Whitney Collection. Applying encaustic process, which is known as a hot wax painting, Jasper John created this screen print with wax crayon on collaged cotton and linen. Jasper John describes this piece as a series of images that ran through his mindwhile he was lying in the bathtub. He included items he saw around the room and things he was thinking about. Some of the elements in this piece are his hanging khaki pants, the running faucet, a nail on the wall, a dirty window, a vase and a decorative piece on a piece of furniture. Until you read the artist s description it is difficult to tell that the white smear of paint is, evoking a feeling of disorientation. His arrangement of his images is seemingly affixed to the faux wood grain background with trompe l oeil tape, thumbtacks, and a protruding nail. The scale of images in Jasper s Racing Thoughts appears to be scaled to real life. The texture of the painting evokes feeling of an antique surrounding like a bathroom in a third world country. In addition, the colors and patterns in this painting, display how he is a person with many things going through his mind at the same time with unorganized thoughts. • 10. African-American Stereotypes In the works Let the Great World Spin, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Jazz, and The Help, the portrayals of African Americans reinforce established racial stereotypes. Dorcas and the prostitutes represent the jezebel; the absent male is viewed and reinforced through the perspectives of Violet, Golden Gray, and even Minny; Aibileen and Minny represent the mammies, and in a way, Jim is Huck s mammy too. While there are instances in all four novels of characters challenging stereotypes, these characters primarily reinforce racial stereotypes. The jezebel represents a female character who is sexually promiscuous and very sexualized. In Jazz, by Toni Morrison, Dorcas aligns closely with the jezebel description. Dorcas wants to detach ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Minny is described by the narrator as 33, black, plump and in uniform, rolls her eyes beneath a crystal chandelier. She shouts up the mahogany stairwell (Stockett 6). The mammy character also represents a female character who is sassy and not a threat to the household s male. Aibileen is older than Minny, and her relatives before her were also housemaids who worked for white families. Aibileen says: I know how to get them babies asleep, stop cryin and go in the toilet bowl before they mommas even get outta bed in the mornin (Stockett 2). In The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, written by Mark Twain, the character who resembles the mammy the closest is Jim. While Jim s physical description is not that of a mammy, his mentality is. From different perspectives, Jim is Huck s mammy because of his guidance, superstitions, and parental like figure all attributes of a mammy. Jim says: Lemme look at you chile, lemme feel o you. No, you ain t dead! you s back again, live and soun, jis de same ole Huck de same ole Huck, thanks to goodness! (Twain 325). Jim s parental like concern for Huck is similar to that of a nanny, and specifically of Aibileen s, who cares very much for Mae Mobley. The final film in the series, Mockingjay Part 2, follows the same strategy as another young adult movie franchise, Twilight. The book turned movie raised its nearly unknown cast to rock star status and enormous profit. This sci fi, adventure is violent. Scenes of blood oozing out of actors and actresses earned the PG 13 rating. The violence was spread evenly, however, the out the 137 minute duration of the movie. The movie seemed timely as United States presidential candidates are dropping one by one in what late night host Stephen Colbert calls The Hungry for Power Games . The film s plot started off with a cliff hanger from Mockingjay Part 2. Immediately, the viewer could sense the tying of loose ends. Some parts of the film were predictable, though. The motion of this movie differed from the first two of the series. Mockingjay Parts One and Two almost feel like completely different films. Screenwriters Peter Craig and Danny Strong had the task of condensing Suzanne Collins award winning novel series plot in to a movie. Loyal Hunger Games readers could attest to the lessened action and added description. Jon Kilik worked as co producer with Nina Jacobson s Color Force Company. In addition to that, Diet coke also contains aspartame (C14H18N2O5), which is a low calorie sweetener used to replace the sugar found in regular Coca Cola. It is composed of two amino acids, phenylalanine and aspartic acid. Although these amino acids are not found to be harmful by themselves, when aspartame is consumed it is broken down in the body to aspartic acid, phenylalanine, and methanol, which in large amounts can be harmful. But since aspartame is about 200 times as sweet as regular sugar, much less of it can be used for the same amount of sweetness, leading to fewer calories in the food or beverage being consumed. And although aspartame s main purpose is to reduce weight gain, this artificial sweetener may actually be doing the opposite. Some studies suggest that when our taste buds sense sweetness, the body expects a calorie load to accompany it. When that doesn t happen, it may cause us to overeat because we crave the energy rush our body was expecting, says Cheryl Forberg R.D., author of Flavor First. What this means is that after drinking artificial sweeteners, naturally sweet foods such as apples, blueberries, and strawberries no longer seem sweet enough. The reason for this is because when your body tastes something sweet it releases insulin into the bloodstream to absorb the sugar. Normally this would not be a problem, but since aspartame is an artificial sweetener there ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 22. Rhetorical Analysis Of Pope Francis I will be analyzing the speech of Pope Francis to a Joint Session of Congress from September of 2015 in Washington, D.C. for my final rhetorical analysis. This speech is important because it addresses societal issues in the United States and the whole world such as poverty, religion, war, the environment, immigration, and gun laws. The popenot only addresses the issues, but also acknowledges many of the marvelous features of America. In this paper, I will provide a summary of research I found on the context of the speech, the speaker, the audience, and the effects the speech had on society. Pope Francis is the present day spiritual leader of the Catholic Church, also known as the bishop of Rome or pontiff. He is the very first pope from Latin American, Argentina specifically, and is now known as the first pope ever that has addressed Congress. According to the guardian.com, Pope Francis, electrified Congress with a call for action on climate change, immigration, poverty and capital punishment, laying down a challenge for the United States to transcend division and rediscover its ideals (Carroll 1). He addressed these issues and drew a great interest from the audience for fifty one minutes in the chamber of the House of Representatives. The audience of the speech consisted of a large number of lawmakers, aides, and invited guests. The New York Times, referenced some of the people that attended: Sitting behind Francis were Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. and House Speaker John A. Boehner, both Catholics. Flanking the aisle at the front were Secretary of State John Kerry and Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr., and not far behind them was Nancy Pelosi, the House Democratic leader, all Catholics (Baker, Yardley 17). Others in the audience included three other Supreme Court associate justices, Justice Anthony Kennedy, Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, and Justice Sonia Sotomayor, other cabinet members, senators, House members, presidential candidates, a few four star generals, priests, nuns, and bishops. According to the New York Times, the lawmakers interrupted Pope Francis about thirty times applauding him, causing the speech to run fifty one minutes when originally scheduled for thirty. *****add ... Politics Of Bad Ideas Analysis In the The Politics of Bad Ideas, Bryan Jones and Walter Williams examine the United States economic policies of the past quarter century and explore the policy practices of the nation, while stressing the importance of evidence based policy. Jones, a political scientist, and Williams, an economist, argue that the persistence of bad ideas in shaping American policy continues to exist, despite evidence that certain policies do not work. The Politics of Bad Ideas examines why bad economic ideas, such as cutting taxes without cutting spending, have become so influential in shaping fiscal policies. They were still expected to be hard workers for the family after marriage, but also be submissive and compliant. In the first 40 years of the 20th century, this became even more enforced. This meant that in 1937, when the Pacific War began, women were discouraged from joining the armed forces. By 1943, Japan was having the same problems as many other countries: so many men in the military were dying, so women had to step up and begin taking over jobs on the homefront. By 1944, over four million women were working. Anyone considered fit to work was required to. Women fit to work were not married and over the age of 15. Although not required, married women were also pushed to work. There were not nearly as many Japanese women working as there were American, but their involvement in wartime efforts was still a crucial part of Japan s history. Japanese women in the workforce during World War II were paid less than men and the conditions afforded them were horrible. Food was scarce, factories were loud and unclean; and the work was difficult. Many women were required to stay in confined living quarters behind factories. When the war ended and American military began moving into Japan, they freed working women and attempted to give them many of the same rights that Western women had. • 39. Picasso Female Complex Pablo Picasso: The Female Complex Many artists develop their works from their most compelling moments in life, whether they are filled with excruciating pain or unspeakable joy. Pablo Picasso creates work based on a multitude of influences in his life, from the suicide of his best friend to the rising of his career (Bio). However, a single theme reoccurs throughout his life that most would argue causes him to create some of the greatest paintings of his time: women. Critics shaped the different phases of his art into periods such as the Blue Period, Rose Period, CubismPeriod, Surrealist Period, and Self Portrait Period (Bio). His art was manipulated based on the dominant state of mind he was in during these stages of life, and many of the emotions had to do with the women he was involved with at the time. Though one might think that an artist who places such a passionate focus on women must deeply admire and respect them, Picasso does not fit into this standard. He actually felt a very strong sense of superiority to females, painting them as objects: cold, faceless, and purely created for sexual satisfaction (Withers 1). However, evidence strongly suggests that he probably feared them more than anything else. Every single one of his periods of art are heavily ruled by paintings of women, particularly nude, that tell a story about an experience he had; if he was so affected by women that he spent countless hours painting about it, there had to have been more going on ... However, we are going to look at a specific example from the play Macbeth by William Shakespeare. The main character from this play is Macbeth who is struggling with an ambition to become the king of Scotland. This paper will demonstrate that Macbethis an accurate example of negative ambition. Ambition is the desire for something and the determination to achieve that desire. Ambition can be classified in two different ways. The first, positive ambition, can be summed up as the desire to get better as a human. There are so many problems that can occur during a human s life on earth and through positive ambition one can help themselves overcome their problems. For instance if you take the situation of an individual with cancer. A majority of successful survivors of cancer have the desire to get back to normal health. To accomplish this the patients must go through a lot of pain and struggle but positive ambition can help them push through. The second classification of ambition is negative ambition. Negative ambition can be summed up as having the desire for something and the determination to achieve it but often at the personal loss of others. Many examples include murdering for a gain of power, lying to improve your wealth, or stealing to improve your lifestyle. These people all have the characteristics of ambition but are using their ambition at the cost of others. They are using their ambition for gain while taking from others. We find ambition at the heart of many scenes in the play Macbeth. In scene three we first learn of Macbeth s desire to become king. Macbeth says this, If Chance will have me king, why, chance may crown me Without my stir. (1,3, 143 144). In this quote, after Macbeth hears the witches prophecy of him becoming king, Macbeth implies that he will gladly take the throne without question. However, ambition consists of both desire and determination and Macbeth has not shown any determination until Act two scene one when he says this I go, and it is done. The bell invites me. Workers were given long hours of labour in which there was no break, they just had to repeat the same task over and over again (Fielden, 1836). This was because factories did not want to stop their production of goods which filled the pockets of the already wealthy factory owners. Similarly, workers who wanted to rebel against the customs feared that the legislation would not pass and they would have to leave their job and end up on the street (Fielden, 1836).Therefore, workers were not only helpless to work for endless hours; they were also suppressed and could not raise their voice against the wrongdoings that were being forced upon them. The working class was mistreated because they could not object to the system, since there were no rights for workers during the first phase of the industrial revolution as many people did not notice this ill treatment. These conditions had negative health consequences on individuals which made them weak and unable to provide efficient labour. This has been going on since the Pope asked Michelangelo to paint fig leaves on Adam and Eve. quot; Yes do not forget about the control the church has had on artistic expression since the beginning of time. When the church has something to say everyone listens. It is amusing how when something offends the church it quickly disappears. However, when these people see some bubble that looks like the face of the Virgin Mary in a tortilla chip, they start worshiping it. Next comes a media circus and before lunch it is all over CNN and every other news broadcast in the world. It is obvious the government uses those situations to promote the Church and its ideals of acceptable art even if it is a tortilla chip. As the 1960 s came to an end the meaning and importance of the first amendment became indisputable. The Democratic National Convention in Chicago, protesting against the Vietnam War and the political assassinations of the late 1960 s (with the governments interjection and objection) showed that the so called ...
