The War On Terror And Terrorism
After the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, the Bush administration declared a worldwide war
on terror, consisting of open and covert military operations and security legislations in an effort to
block the financing of terrorism. The U.S. called for states across world to join their fight against
terrorism (Globalpolicy.org, 2015). This essay will be arguing if the U.S. was justified in their
advances or if they have used the attacks against them in order to launch a war against those it
suspected, using the attacks as a justification for torture and mistreatment of people across the world.
In a post 9 11 society, the question of security has become the first priority of governments and
terrified Westerners, in particular, Americans as they struggle to reconcile with the possibility of
conflicting ideals and lifestyles. The War on Terror has never truly been about the war against
militants, but has rather been, similar to the Cold War in much more gruesome and misguided a way in
which the Western countries, hereafter symbolized by the United States predominantly have found a
new way to flex political muscle while oppressing other people across the globe through torture and
destruction. The War on Terror is a poorly justified attack on human rights, a poor excuse for
retaliation and progress, and is ultimately another way for the political culture of the West to permeate
into other countries with their own lifestyles, international policies and simply be the one

Victor Arguinzoniz Research Paper
Victor Arguinzoniz was born in a Basque village up in the high mountains in Axpe, up in northern
Spain. Growing up in a village where no one had running water or electricity, Victor s grandmother
would always cook meals over a wood fire. Everything was cooked by fire. I have strong memories of
the aromas of firewood, of the flavor it brought to all of our food. (Goulding, R K) Eventually, in
1988, Victor dropped his job as a Forester and bought an old abandoned restaurant in the main plaza
of Axpe, and started his path on elevating his path for the food of his childhood traditional Basque

Immunology Lab
In the lab immunology and testing plays a big role in helping doctors helps patients. Many test done
within the lab use specific types of test to rule in or out certain diseases and infections. These tests use
patient s antibodies or antigens to help detect if they are infected. The tests are done to be able to give
to quick diagnosis of the patient so that they may be treated correctly and with speed. Some of the
testing that is done within the lab help doctors deal with such things as syphilis, rheumatoid arthritis,
Group A strep and various other infections. In this paper I will discuss and cover signs and symptoms
of each disease, how the disease works and how to treat each one.
One of the biggest diseases that still affects people today ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is usually know as rheumatoid arthritis, but this disease is one caused by the patient s own body
against itself. The body produces proteins that attack healthy tissue causing it to be an autoimmune
disease. The true cause of rheumatoid arthritis is unknown but could be due to certain viruses,
bacteria, fungi or due to genetics. The diagnosis of RA is established usually on clinical criteria and
serologic results in the lab. Usually rheumatoid factor, which is an antibody specific for the Fc portion
of the human IgG, this has been a marker used by doctors to help diagnose RA. The detection of
elevated serum levels RF IgG antibodies has been almost exclusively confined to rheumatoid arthritis
patients, not patients with other types of arthritis. The first of the symptoms one is looking for is the
inflammation within joints of the body and inflammation causing stiffness and soreness to the patient.
One may also experience fatigue from the inflammation and fever. When trying to figure out if a
patient is infected with rheumatoid factors a doctor may run a number of tests to deliver a
confirmatory diagnosis. One of the most simple and crude ways to test for this is ESR which is also
known as Sedimentation Rate. This test helps to the doctor if there is inflammation within the body.
The test results show that if someone has higher levels of inflammation in their body the
sedimentation rate results will be higher. Another test to help doctors see if there is inflammation
within the body is the C reactive protein test. Both of these tests are done when your doctor suspects
that you have an acute condition causing inflammation, such as a serious bacterial or fungal infection
or when you are suffering from an inflammatory disorder such as arthritis, an autoimmune disorder
such as rheumatoid arthritis. The gold standard of testing for RA is the CylicCitrullinated Peptide
Antibody, this

The Importance Of Becoming A Teacher
It was not until my last year of high school when I finally decided on becoming a elementary school
teacher. I had taken one of those What should you choose as your career? tests going into junior year
and number one on the list was Teacher. Although it was a more professional than something like a
personality quiz on Buzzfeed, I still treated it like one. The thought of becoming a teacher was vile to
me based on all my knowledge of stereotypes that I had heard growing up, such as bad pay and hating
their job. My mom and everyone around me wanted me to be a doctor or lawyer. They wanted a well
respected job for me and not a glorified babysitter . Then one day I was taking a college tour of Dixie
State University and they had a school with a playground on campus. It was part of the school they
had on campus that children would come to so that the future teachers can get on campus experience.
In that moment I thought back to elementary school to my favorite teacher from kindergarten, Ms.
Lee, and remembered how much I loved elementary school. How everything amazed me because I
was just an empty head (well, not entirely) waiting to be filled with the knowledge of the world.
Elementary schools, especially the younger grades, can be the first more professional setting that
children are put in. This is where they begin to learn the rules and different ways to act in society and
what to carry throughout their school careers. It s a first stepping stone in life away from their

Love Is A Powerful Human Emotion
Love is a powerful human emotion. Everyone will experience love at some point in their life. It is
almost impossible to avoid love. From loving your parents as a baby to loving your first pet, you will
encounter it. Every human being is capable of love but unfortunately, many have crippled themselves
with all kinds of stupid belief systems, opinions, philosophies, ideologies everything except life. If
you are life, it is very natural to love (Sandhguru). The four young lovers in A Midsummer Night s
Dream encountered love and ended up doing anything to keep that love.
In the beginning of A Midsummer Night s Dream Hermia and her father, Egeus, are arguing over who
she should marry. Back in these times a father could decide who his daughter marries whether she
loves the man or not. Hermia has fallen in love with Lysander but her father wants her to marry
Demetrius. The love Hermia feels for Lysander is so strong that she doesn t care what her father
thinks. Hermia and Lysander form a plan to escape Athens and go into the woods where they can love
freely. In A Midsummer Night s Dream, Athens represents the physically grounded world of facts,
while the woods represent the metaphysical world of the poet s imagination (Ritcher). The
consequences of these actions do not even occur to Hermia and Lysander because the power of love
blinds them. Hermia does not realize that she is breaking Athenian law by not wanting to marry the
man her father has chosen for her. But again

Similarities Between Rosa Parks And Martin Luther King
I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia, the sons of former slaves and the sons of
former slave owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood. Martin Luther King
Jr spoke these words at the Civil Rights March on August 28, 1963. The words above may seem
worthless, but to the people in attendance at the protest, they meant the world. It gave them hope,
perseverance, a shimmer of light in the dark times. Racism is still with us. But it is up to us to prepare
our children for what they have to meet, and, hopefully, we shall overcome. This is one of Rosa Parks
more famous quotes. In other words, racism is still among the people of America, but it is up to them
to prepare their own children for what they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
and Rosa Parks faced many struggles during their battle to stop segregation. Although the journey was
tough, they didn t give up until they reached their goal of being seen as an equal in our society.
Similarly, they were both arrested several times just because they stood up for themselves. For
instance, Rosa Parks was arrested on December 1, 1955 when she refused to give up her seat on the
bus. In 1963, Martin Luther King Jr. was sent to jail because he protested the treatment of african
americans in Birmingham, Alabama. Not only does this go against his right to freedom of petition, but
it also goes against his right to freedom of speech. Even though Parks faced many issues because of
her race, she also faced many personal problems such as an ulcer that caused her to quit her job in
Detroit. Basically, an ulcer is a hole in the lining of your stomach that can be caused by stress and
poor nutrition. Both dealt with many internal and external conflicts that affected their outlook on life
and how we see them today. The struggle is real. Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King Jr. understand
that more than anyone. They faced the fear of every black out there with their heads held high, never
backing down from a challenge; as a result, their remarkable actions will go down in history, never to

How Does Edward Wilson Use Satire In The Future Of Life
Satirical Analysis Edward O. Wilson s The Future of Life uses satire to show the two opinions of two
different sides of the idea of environmentalism. On one side, the People First Critic accuses the
environmentalists as being out of control in their efforts to make the world a better place by helping
the environment. However, the Environmentalist criticises the opposing critic as not caring enough
about the environment and that supposedly makes him wrong. These are both two different sides to
the same argument and both are out to prove a point. The People First critic is clearly not an
environmentalist. While he specifically addresses that the environment is important, he also counters
with conservation should be kept in perspective .

Title
To determine the half life of beer foam
Purpose
In this experiment, we will make the bear foam as much as possible by pouring fast and using warm
beer and try to estimate the half life of beer foam based on the changing of height while the foam is
collapsing.
Theory
A quantity is said to be subject to exponential decay if it decreases at a rate proportional to its value.
Symbolically, this process can be expressed by the following differential equation, where N is the
quantity and λ (lambda) is a positive number called the decay constant.

Essay about Workers Compensation Fraud
Workers Compensation Fraud
Worker s Compensation is a service that provides reimbursement for lost wages to employees who
have sustained injuries from work or work related tasks. It is also one of the services that is most often
the victim of fraud. Each of the three types of fraud, claimant, employer, and provider, is defined by
the same characteristics, outlined by the Ohio Board of Workers Compensation:
#61623; Receiving workers compensation benefits that are not entitled to the claimant;
#61623; Making false or misleading statements with the purpose of securing goods or services under
the Workers Compensation Act;
#61623; Altering, falsifying, destroying, concealing, or removing records needed to assess claim

This proves little if any about the real problem, though, because only about 1,000 claims were
investigated in Kansas over five years (Lorenz), while over seven times that amount were investigated
in New York and California in the same time period ( Insurance Fraud ). Throughout most sources,
though, it is clear to see that employer fraud is the most prevalent and costly type of fraud. Employer
fraud includes a number of schemes used by employers to reduce the number of workers
compensation insurance premiums by underreporting payroll, misclassifying employees occupations
and misrepresenting their claims experience. According to the National Council on Compensation, the
most common frauds include:
#61623; Misclassification of workers. Employers can either classify workers as independent
contractor or misrepresent the work performed, which places workers in a less hazardous occupational
category. Both of these tactics are intended to avoid or reduce premiums.
#61623; Underreporting payroll. Another method of premium reduction is employers not reporting
parts of the work force, paying workers off the books, or creating a companion corporation to hide a
portion of the employees.

Critique on Carl Milles Work
Critique on Carl Milles work
Carl Milles (Carl Emil Wilhelm Anderson) was born at Orby in Lagga near Uppsala, Sweden on 23
June 1875 and died at his home in Lidingo, Sweden on 19 September 1955. He was the world famous
Swedish sculptor during the first half of the 20th century. In 1892 1897, he was apprenticed to a
cabinetmaker and woodworker when he left school and attended evening classes at the Technical
School in Stockholm in woodwork and later in carving and modeling. He showed a talent for sculpture
in the evening classes and was awarded a scholarship from the Swedish Society of Arts and Crafts. He
was then offered a job in Santiago, Chile to help manage a school of Swedish gymnastics. However,
he stopped at Paris on the way to Chile and remained in Paris until 1904 and attended lectures at the
Sorbonne to study art. He was admitted to the salon in 1899 and later worked in the studio of Auguste
Rodin. He slowly got the recognition as a sculptor.
Carl Milles in 1955
The early work of Carl Milles was Two Girls Dancing in 1917. The sculpture shows two women
poised on tiptoe in a turning movement. He was enthusiastic about free dance, which was developed at
that time. He attended many performances in Paris and Stockholm. So, he sculpted two dancing
women. He was interested in the concept of turning and lacking gravity when he created this sculpture
because dancing meant the turning movement and the dancer lost contact with the ground
momentarily. And later his

Chaos In A Midsummer Night s Dream
Many people go through different chaotic experiences in their lives, however, how one decides to
restore order to their chaos, is most important. In William Shakespeare s A Midsummer Night s
Dream, due to simultaneous appearances of chaos throughout the play, it leaves the audience
speculating about the order yet to come, thus, developing/strengthening the plot of the play. The
various occurrences of order and chaos within the play include the arguments between Titania and
Oberon, the unstable love circle between the four lovers and finally the bizarre relationship between
Titania and Bottom. To begin with, the first occurrence of order and chaos within the play concerns
Oberon and Titania and their quarreling. When the two main powers of the ... Show more content on

The last consequence of the fairy world and real world colliding involve Titania and Bottom. Due to
Oberon clouding Titania s vision and Puck turning Bottom into an ass, it mixes together perfectly, to
form a very humorous, yet chaotic situation. This relationship is very important for the structure of the
play due to it being it the base for the entire plot. The whole reason Titania and Bottom s relationship
prevails is that Oberon needs a distraction for her, it would make his task much easier to acquire the
child if Titania was preoccupied. The main plot revolves around this and soon after, more conflicts
follow. This the last conflict that Shakespeare must restore order to, making it a very important
moment. Oberon restores order to the situation after he has met his goal, saying I will release the fairy
queen [Squeezing a herb on Titania s eyes] (IV.i.69), Titania has no memory of the child or their
altercations, therefore their relationship is now as it was before the child. Soon after, Hippolyta makes
a remark indirectly addressing the order and chaos within the play,

What is sexual assault? According to the United States Department of Justice it is any type of sexual
contact or behavior that occurs without the explicit consent of the recipient.
Many teens enter college expecting a different atmosphere from what they had in high school, but in
reality they may have more to worry about than they originally thought. Although the number of cases
of sexual assault on college campuses has decreased since 1993 it is still a relevant topic. 5% of
women, every year, on college campuses experience rape or attempted rape as reported by One in

Total Energy Lab
The objective of this lab is to investigate the conservation of total energy. There are two parts to this
experiment: To investigate the conservation of energy for a ball that is launched upwards in a vertical
direction; and To investigate the principle of energy conservation using an air track and a glider.
For the first part, the principle of conservation of energy is investigated by launching a ball vertically
and comparing its total energy at the time of launch to its energy when it reaches its highest point. For
the second part, the principle of conservation of energy is tested out for an isolated system by
investigating how gravitational potential energy is transferred to kinetic energy for a glider (of mass

The percent error between the potential energy and kinetic energy varies from 0.77% to 7.56 percent.
A comparison between the kinetic energy and potential energy is graphed in Figure 1. The two forces

best fit, the kinetic energy versus the potential energy is presented in Figure 2. The slope of the line is
0.9511, which represents that the potential energy lost is equal to the kinetic energy gained. Since the
ratio of kinetic energy to potential energy is one, it implies that all the potential energy to start with is
transformed to kinetic energy. The R2 is 0.9913. The difference between the results of the potential
energy and the kinetic energy shows that the experiment was a success for all ranges. Overall, the
experiment demonstrates the principle of conservation of

Sexualization Of Beauty Pageants
When most people think of beauty pageants, they think of Barbie like little girls with their tiny

and the rest of the world. Kids are deprived of their childhood because pageants take up all their time
and they make them eager to grow up because of all the makeup and glitz. When they want to go
outside and play with their friends, they are forced to practice for hours before an upcoming pageant.
They grow up way too fast because parents are allowing them to wear revealing clothes and act
inappropriately for their age. For example, Windy Dickey dressed her daughter, Paisley, Winner of
many Child Beauty Pageants, up in a costume that was exactly the same as Julia Roberts character
wore in the movie Pretty Woman the fitted, skin baring white blouse, the tight blue mini skirt and
thigh high, shiny black boots (Canning). These young girls wear tons of makeup, false eyelashes, have
their eyebrows done, have fake hair and even flippers which are fake teeth. Beauty pageant contestants
may develop a misconception about life and beauty while being involved in them. They may grow up
to believe that only physical beauty matters and that it is the primary judge of one s self worth.
Pageants can damage the self esteem of a young girl when things do not go as she would hope
(Nussbaum). What will a mother tell her three year old daughter if the child says that she didn t win
because she is not pretty

Being Green Is A Popular Song By Joe Raposo
Being green is a popular song written by Joe Raposo, originally performed by Jim Henson as Kermit
the Frog on Sesame Street and The Muppet Show. In the Muppets version, Kermit begins by
complaining his green coloration, shows that the green color is blending woith the other colors and
have its own color presentation. In the end of the song, Kermit refers positive associations with the
color green, and concluded it by embracing and accepting his live for the green color. The signature
line of the songs is still present in most of the cultures in these times. It is like a phrase that has since
appeared in most of the situations in their working and pop cultures. It is most of the times quoted as
expression of melancholy over the life of the one. The song has a link with questions of identity and
individuality, but also has a strong collaboration with the themes of celebration and self love of
diversity, especially in the color senses, that was the main social aspect in the culture of America at the
point of the debuting of songs. With the passage of times, as green has been used as more famous
color, the references to the concept of the environmentalism, counterstatement or its phases are most
of the times used in the same context as well.
Kemit showed his mixed feelings about his color, stating that green blends in with many other
common things and he wished that he could have some other color. In middle, Kermit realized that
green color has some powerful association like

Counselling Skills
Evaluate and monitor self in using a counselling approach.
People who experience troubles can receive help for their problems in both formal and informal ways.
An informal helping relationship can be as simple as a chat with a friend while offering advice and
support. The counselling approach differs considerably form formal counselling which this essay will
discuss.
An informal helping relationship may involve counselling skills such as displaying good eye contact
and body language, listening, summarising and paraphrasing but this does not in any way mean they
are a trained counsellor. Formal counselling will involve the counsellor, who is formally trained, and
the client where the sole purpose of the meeting is counselling. The ... Show more content on

This is in keeping with the codes of practice which are in place to ensure the safety of the client and

the importance in having these guidelines in place. A client is more inclined to feel free to talk when
they know that what they say will not be disclosed and this should encourage a safe feeling for them.
At the start of the course a working agreement was decided and agreed by the class. This agreement
stated that we should respect and be respected, have the right to be supported, the right to have fun and
most importantly confidentiality. This allowed the class to feel safe to disclose information that may
be of a personal nature. I think that this agreement has been followed and I do feel safer knowing it is
in place especially during the triad exercises.
Many helping relationships occur in everyday life and this course has allowed me to understand the
difference between formal counselling and a counselling approach. I think I have become more self
aware and realise that I am slightly guarded, especially with certain people in my life. The triad
exercises made me quite anxious initially but feel as I gain more experience I am becoming more
comfortable during the sessions. The feedback I have received has been helpful and I do try to

Three Components Of The U.s. Criminal Justice System
There are three components of the U.S. Criminal Justice System today, law enforcement, courts, and
corrections. Anyone who is arrested will go through all three aspects without even being found guilty.
However, one that most people seem to remember the most as a defining factor would be when they
were in court, during this time there are many rules, procedures, and codes of conduct to follow. These
are in place to allow a trial to proceed more efficiently and fairly for both the defense and prosecution.
Whether the charge is a felony or a misdemeanor the defendant is entitled to a fair trial in front of an
impartial, honest judge or jury. Consequently, this is not always the case. Most of the courts have
flaws where most public defense ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Professional Responsibility, also known as the OPR, found more than six hundred and fifty infractions
through the freedom of information act and over four hundred were major infractions between the
years 2002 2013 (Hundreds of Justice Department Attorneys). Proving the fact that the system is
flawed. There is one attorney that was described, as a talented, effective prosecutor willing to bend the
rules to get results (Hundreds of Justice Department Attorneys); doesn t exactly sound correct since
everyone has the right to a fair trial given by the sixth amendment (Schmalleger, 2016).
However, attorneys are not the only ones in the court procedures that have done something wrong.
There is an increasing number of judges that are getting caught as well. Most of them are getting
caught accepting bribes in some form. There was an Arkansas judge that reduced the amount of
money the nursing home had to pay the plaintiff because they donated money to his campaign
(Former Judge Sentenced). Another judge had accepted about $2.2 million to send kids to the juvenile
facility, putting about 2,000 juveniles there that didn t deserve it.
It is hard to believe that a system that is supposed to promote fairness wouldn t be so corrupt.
However, there are ways to help this section of the Criminal Justice System become less flawed. For
the public defense attorneys, an increase in

Trade Reforms Policy Impacts on Non-Oil Exports in Nigeria
CHAPTER ONE INTRODUCTION 1.1 Background to the Study Trade policy is defined as, a
government s policy controlling foreign trade and the central objective of trade policy is to provide
protection for domestic industries and reduce the perceived dependence on imports; a corollary to that
objective was a desire to reduce the level of unemployment and generate more revenues from the non
oil sector. Non oil export sector in Nigeria constitutes products of agriculture, industry and services
that are exported by Nigeria (Ojowu, 1989). Agriculture is the primary non oil product sector, which
provides food, and fiber for the economy, while industry, as the modern sector, produces manufactured
goods. The non oil export sector of the Nigerian ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
1.2. Statement of the Problem Non oil exports are made up of the agricultural sector, manufacturing
sector and the service sector of an economy. Nigeria, like many other developing economies has over
the years pursued the objective of accelerating the rate of development in the economy in a bid to
transform into a developed country. The economy held so much hope for attainment of such goals
within a short period of time and this was even before the advent of oil as the main export commodity.
These potentials were so much that Nigeria was seen to becoming the most industrialized African
economy within a short period of time. The foundation of these potentials was laid by the agricultural
sector which effectively and efficiently played its traditional role which economic theory predicts it
should play in the path of economic development. According to Johnston and Mellor (1961), the roles
are as follows; Product contribution (source of food), Market contribution (buying and selling to earn
a living), Factor contribution (serves as raw materials for industries) and Foreign exchange
contribution (through exportation). Despite the prominence of the oil sector in the past three decades,
agriculture remains arguably the largest and most important sector as its contribution to the gross
domestic product has remained stable between 30 and 42 percent, also it employs about 65 per cent

Progenitor Lab Effects
Direct effects of Estrogenic Chemicals on Human Prostate Stem and Progenitor Cells
To directly assess the actions of estrogens on prostate stem and progenitor cells and to evaluate the
relevance of these findings in the human prostate gland, we recently derived in vitro and in vivo
systems utilizing primary cells cultured from prostates of young, disease free organ donors. Adult
prostate stem cells were enriched by FACS (CD49fhi, Trop2hi) or 3 D matrigel culture to form
prostaspheres (PS). In the PS assay, ~0.5% of the primary epithelial cells were capable of survival and

Greek Influence On Theatre
Theatre did not have much influence on my life yet attending a Broadway musical theatre was one of
the top things on my bucket list. Prior to taking this class, the only interaction I had with theatre was
back in high school when I joined an Improv club. I was shy and afraid of getting humiliated because I
didn t know anything about theatre and I felt like all the people around me are judgmental and unkind.
However, they turned out to be more welcoming than my peers in algebra class. Initially, we did a few
welcome exercises, such as holding hands and passing a ball around. Since Improv is all about acting
on the spot, everybody gets anxious and nervous when it s their turn. It s just that some are more
quickly to adapt, and some are good at hiding their true emotions. People make mistakes, and it is fine
to make mistakes in our Improv Club because everybody, even the president and the advisor, make
silly mistakes. When it happens, we all laugh knowing that laughter relieves the embarrassment of the
actor and did not mean anything cruel by it. I have to admit that, although I was fretted, I actually
enjoyed being myself out there and not being myself out there as another soul at the same moment. ...

Analysis Of The Movie James Bond
Goldfinger Character Analysis Rough Draft James Bond is widely known for being a cunning secret
agent who will do everything to save whatever is in danger, anything from the world to an attractive
female, and doing even more just to get the girl. This may be so in the movie depictions, but in the
novels, James Bond can be depicted as a bumbling alcoholic who stumbles onto the right answers.
James Bond s successes are circumstantial by his actions, losses, and interactions with a variety of
characters from Ian Fleming s seventh James Bond novel, Goldfinger. Ian Fleming was born on May

Symptoms And Treatment Of Allergic Rhinitis
INTRODUCTION Allergic rhinitis is a symptomatic disorder of the nose induced after exposure to
allergens through IgE mediated hypersensitivity reactions, which are characterized by four cardinal
symptoms of watery rhinorrhea, nasal obstruction, nasal itching and sneezing. An increasing
prevalence of allergic diseases has been observed all over the world during the last decades. Allergic
rhinitis adversely affects emotional well being and social functions of the patient. Also it impairs
cognitive functions and decreases the quality of life. In children it is one of the most common causes
of absence from school and, if untreated, may result in poorer learning ability. Patients with allergic
rhinitis often have asthma or are increased risk of developing it. Allergic rhinitis is also associated
with eczema. In India more than 20 30% of the population is reported to be affected with allergic
rhinitis. The increasing prevalence of allergic disorders in the country has been more marked in the
past two decades, with almost one in two people exhibiting an allergic response to some common
environmental factor. Despite the progress in prevention, anti inflammatory treatment and allergen
specific treatments a significant proportion of patients still suffer from serious symptoms of allergic
rhinitis. Alergic rhinitis is mostly a self limiting illness and not life threatening, the curative treatment

One line of thought holds that American Exceptionalism is very real and has had a profound impact on

Double Helix Lab Report
DNA extraction and the use of PCR to detect genetic diseases
Introduction:
The double helix is indeed a remarkable molecule. Modern man is perhaps 50,000 years old,
civilization has existed for scarcely 10,000 years and the United States for only just over 200 years;
but DNA and RNA have been around for at least several billion years. All that time the double helix
has been there, and active, and yet we are the first creatures on Earth to become aware of its existence.
Francis Crick (1916 2004). DNA, the conductor in the orchestra of life. It defines everything about us,

It is used to amplify a sample of DNA, creating thousands or even millions of copies of a certain

However, it really became prominent in 1988 when Kary Mullis, along with the Cetus Corporation,

indispensable to medical science, being used to detect both hereditary and infectious diseases, clone
DNA, paternity tests (using genetic fingerprints) and DNA based phylogeny. In 1989, Taq Polymerase

Compare And Contrast Dreamworks And Disney
Animated films are one of the most entertaining forms of media out there. When it comes to animated
films, two major film companies may come to mind: DreamWorks and Disney. For the past couple of
years, people have been asking which company is better, and the answer is quite simply Disney. They
have better stories, they maintain a certain theme, they are consistent, and extremely successful which
is what makes them stand out from other studios and film companies. Of course, DreamWorks has
some of these qualities as well, but they are far and few in between.
Disney, when it comes to their stories, almost always deliver. They have made some of the most iconic
films with brilliant stories such as Aladdin, Lion King, Wreck It Ralph, Frozen, Beauty and the Beast,
etc. Granted, they haven t always made the best films, but the good definitely outweighs the bad. They
take time to make their films great and usually release a film once a year. DreamWorks has focused
more on the quantity instead of the quality of their films, releasing at least 2 3 movies a year. Because
of this, only some good movies like Kung Fu Panda, How to Train Your Dragon, Megamind, etc. have
come about and the rest only earning 7/10 or lower.
Disney has always been consistent and has maintained two certain themes since the 1930 s, the first is
to Follow Your Dreams. They ve applied this to the older movies like Pinocchio and Dumbo, and they

students would come to the front of the room and sing Rocky Mountain for everyone to hear and I
would grade them on their singing ability; if all words were memorized, sang each note on the correct
pitch and if they sang in the correct key throughout. I found this to be very helpful with their
personalities and interests because I found out who really liked singing and who did not really enjoy
it. I also found out who was shy and who was more outgoing. This helped me prepare some of lessons
for the next few times and I knew who I could call on to sing for everyone. Another strength that I
have is helping students set individual learning goals. I recently helped a student who usually has a
hard time concentrating and staying on task create a GPAR (Goal Plan, Action and Result), to help
him get through his classes more focused. It worked very well and the student got a great result and
therefore I know I will be doing this more next year to help a lot more students become successful.

Some of the improvements that I need to make in my classroom is taking inventory of my students
learning preferences before I

Pharmacist Career Goals
In selecting a career, every person follows certain drives, justifications, and guidelines. A variety of
factors influenced my choice of pharmacy as a career. Having observed countless drug drug and drug
body interactions, volunteering as a pharmacy technician and in different positions in healthcare, I was
able to see the impact pharmacists have on patient lives and the mutual love they have for their
patients. I was pleased to see the effect pharmacists have on the quality of care their patients receive.
My lifelong goal was to find a career that would allow me to work directly with the public and make a
difference. Obtaining a Doctor of Pharmacy degree, will allow me to fulfill my lifelong goal, while
acting as a bridge between prescribing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a research assistant, I am currently studying the drug thalidomide, which caused one of the darkest
episodes in the history of pharmaceutical research due to its teratogenic effects. Through my research I
am able to obtain a better understanding of the molecular targets of the drug through the use of
chimera and cytoscape, which are specific software platforms that incorporates network data
integration and extensive molecular modeling systems. Although I appreciate the new skill set that
working as a research assistant has provided, my current stint has confirmed my intent to become a
clinical pharmacist, where I can have patient centered interactions and formulate appropriate care
plans to solidify my position as a key member of the interdisciplinary team. Moreover, my
membership in the Martin Luther King Jr. Scholars Program at Ithaca College, a program that focuses
on the issues of civic education, and my position as a teaching assistant in the chemistry department,
have allowed me to develop the maturity and insight to interact with people of different ages,
backgrounds, and cultures. These attributes will prove to be invaluable as I pursue my goal of
becoming a

  • 2. The War On Terror And Terrorism After the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, the Bush administration declared a worldwide war on terror, consisting of open and covert military operations and security legislations in an effort to block the financing of terrorism. The U.S. called for states across world to join their fight against terrorism (Globalpolicy.org, 2015). This essay will be arguing if the U.S. was justified in their advances or if they have used the attacks against them in order to launch a war against those it suspected, using the attacks as a justification for torture and mistreatment of people across the world. In a post 9 11 society, the question of security has become the first priority of governments and terrified Westerners, in particular, Americans as they struggle to reconcile with the possibility of conflicting ideals and lifestyles. The War on Terror has never truly been about the war against militants, but has rather been, similar to the Cold War in much more gruesome and misguided a way in which the Western countries, hereafter symbolized by the United States predominantly have found a new way to flex political muscle while oppressing other people across the globe through torture and destruction. The War on Terror is a poorly justified attack on human rights, a poor excuse for retaliation and progress, and is ultimately another way for the political culture of the West to permeate into other countries with their own lifestyles, international policies and simply be the one ... Growing up in a village where no one had running water or electricity, Victor s grandmother would always cook meals over a wood fire. Everything was cooked by fire. I have strong memories of the aromas of firewood, of the flavor it brought to all of our food. (Goulding, R K) Eventually, in 1988, Victor dropped his job as a Forester and bought an old abandoned restaurant in the main plaza of Axpe, and started his path on elevating his path for the food of his childhood traditional Basque grilling, a type of grilling with precision and imagination that his fellow countrymen like Ferran Adria and Juan Maria Arzak were introducing to the ... • 4. Immunology Lab In the lab immunology and testing plays a big role in helping doctors helps patients. Many test done within the lab use specific types of test to rule in or out certain diseases and infections. These tests use patient s antibodies or antigens to help detect if they are infected. The tests are done to be able to give to quick diagnosis of the patient so that they may be treated correctly and with speed. Some of the testing that is done within the lab help doctors deal with such things as syphilis, rheumatoid arthritis, Group A strep and various other infections. In this paper I will discuss and cover signs and symptoms of each disease, how the disease works and how to treat each one. One of the biggest diseases that still affects people today ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is usually know as rheumatoid arthritis, but this disease is one caused by the patient s own body against itself. The body produces proteins that attack healthy tissue causing it to be an autoimmune disease. The true cause of rheumatoid arthritis is unknown but could be due to certain viruses, bacteria, fungi or due to genetics. The diagnosis of RA is established usually on clinical criteria and serologic results in the lab. Usually rheumatoid factor, which is an antibody specific for the Fc portion of the human IgG, this has been a marker used by doctors to help diagnose RA. The detection of elevated serum levels RF IgG antibodies has been almost exclusively confined to rheumatoid arthritis patients, not patients with other types of arthritis. The first of the symptoms one is looking for is the inflammation within joints of the body and inflammation causing stiffness and soreness to the patient. One may also experience fatigue from the inflammation and fever. When trying to figure out if a patient is infected with rheumatoid factors a doctor may run a number of tests to deliver a confirmatory diagnosis. One of the most simple and crude ways to test for this is ESR which is also known as Sedimentation Rate. This test helps to the doctor if there is inflammation within the body. The test results show that if someone has higher levels of inflammation in their body the sedimentation rate results will be higher. Another test to help doctors see if there is inflammation within the body is the C reactive protein test. Both of these tests are done when your doctor suspects that you have an acute condition causing inflammation, such as a serious bacterial or fungal infection or when you are suffering from an inflammatory disorder such as arthritis, an autoimmune disorder such as rheumatoid arthritis. The gold standard of testing for RA is the CylicCitrullinated Peptide Antibody, this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Importance Of Becoming A Teacher It was not until my last year of high school when I finally decided on becoming a elementary school teacher. I had taken one of those What should you choose as your career? tests going into junior year and number one on the list was Teacher. Although it was a more professional than something like a personality quiz on Buzzfeed, I still treated it like one. The thought of becoming a teacher was vile to me based on all my knowledge of stereotypes that I had heard growing up, such as bad pay and hating their job. My mom and everyone around me wanted me to be a doctor or lawyer. They wanted a well respected job for me and not a glorified babysitter . Then one day I was taking a college tour of Dixie State University and they had a school with a playground on campus. It was part of the school they had on campus that children would come to so that the future teachers can get on campus experience. In that moment I thought back to elementary school to my favorite teacher from kindergarten, Ms. Lee, and remembered how much I loved elementary school. How everything amazed me because I was just an empty head (well, not entirely) waiting to be filled with the knowledge of the world. Elementary schools, especially the younger grades, can be the first more professional setting that children are put in. This is where they begin to learn the rules and different ways to act in society and what to carry throughout their school careers. It s a first stepping stone in life away from their ... From loving your parents as a baby to loving your first pet, you will encounter it. Every human being is capable of love but unfortunately, many have crippled themselves with all kinds of stupid belief systems, opinions, philosophies, ideologies everything except life. If you are life, it is very natural to love (Sandhguru). The four young lovers in A Midsummer Night s Dream encountered love and ended up doing anything to keep that love. In the beginning of A Midsummer Night s Dream Hermia and her father, Egeus, are arguing over who she should marry. Back in these times a father could decide who his daughter marries whether she loves the man or not. Hermia has fallen in love with Lysander but her father wants her to marry Demetrius. The love Hermia feels for Lysander is so strong that she doesn t care what her father thinks. Hermia and Lysander form a plan to escape Athens and go into the woods where they can love freely. In A Midsummer Night s Dream, Athens represents the physically grounded world of facts, while the woods represent the metaphysical world of the poet s imagination (Ritcher). The consequences of these actions do not even occur to Hermia and Lysander because the power of love blinds them. Hermia does not realize that she is breaking Athenian law by not wanting to marry the man her father has chosen for her. But again ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Similarities Between Rosa Parks And Martin Luther King I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia, the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood. Martin Luther King Jr spoke these words at the Civil Rights March on August 28, 1963. The words above may seem worthless, but to the people in attendance at the protest, they meant the world. It gave them hope, perseverance, a shimmer of light in the dark times. Racism is still with us. But it is up to us to prepare our children for what they have to meet, and, hopefully, we shall overcome. This is one of Rosa Parks more famous quotes. In 1963, Martin Luther King Jr. was sent to jail because he protested the treatment of african americans in Birmingham, Alabama. Not only does this go against his right to freedom of petition, but it also goes against his right to freedom of speech. Even though Parks faced many issues because of her race, she also faced many personal problems such as an ulcer that caused her to quit her job in Detroit. Basically, an ulcer is a hole in the lining of your stomach that can be caused by stress and poor nutrition. Wilson s The Future of Life uses satire to show the two opinions of two different sides of the idea of environmentalism. On one side, the People First Critic accuses the environmentalists as being out of control in their efforts to make the world a better place by helping the environment. Carl Milles in 1955 The early work of Carl Milles was Two Girls Dancing in 1917. The sculpture shows two women poised on tiptoe in a turning movement. He was enthusiastic about free dance, which was developed at that time. He attended many performances in Paris and Stockholm. So, he sculpted two dancing women. Nigeria, like many other developing economies has over the years pursued the objective of accelerating the rate of development in the economy in a bid to transform into a developed country. The economy held so much hope for attainment of such goals within a short period of time and this was even before the advent of oil as the main export commodity. At one month, the engrafted cells had formed normal prostate like structures with differentiated human prostate epithelium that expressed prostate specific antigen (PSA). Once mature tissues formed, treatment of the host with elevated estradiol levels with testosterone support induced lesions in the human prostate epithelium over time, progressing from hyperplasia, squamous metaplasia and high grade PIN to adenocarcinoma at a low incidence by 4 months. To test whether BPA could influence this process, host mice were orally exposed to low doses of BPA (peak unconjugated BPA levels of ~0.4 to 1.3 ng/ml) during the first two weeks following stem progenitor cell engraftment to recapitulate developmental exposure. The incidence of malignancy in the human prostate epithelium significantly increased from 13% in oil exposed controls to 33 36% in tissues briefly exposed to BPA followed by 2 4 months of elevated estradiol with testosterone. Prior to taking this class, the only interaction I had with theatre was back in high school when I joined an Improv club. I was shy and afraid of getting humiliated because I didn t know anything about theatre and I felt like all the people around me are judgmental and unkind. However, they turned out to be more welcoming than my peers in algebra class. Initially, we did a few welcome exercises, such as holding hands and passing a ball around. Since Improv is all about acting on the spot, everybody gets anxious and nervous when it s their turn. It s just that some are more quickly to adapt, and some are good at hiding their true emotions. People make mistakes, and it is fine to make mistakes in our Improv Club because everybody, even the president and the advisor, make silly mistakes. I believe the reason to this is that the OS blocks any access to that folder. If files or subfolders are modified the OS could stop functioning.) After multiple tries I have realized that none of the nine commands work. One of the reasons why is that absolute path and relative path are invalid commands. There has to be another way to navigate through absolute and relative paths than with the commands used in this exercise. Also, this exercise is misleading because the result of a command depends of the location of the current directory and the directory to begin from is not specified in the instructions. Also, I don t need a command to know what the absolute and relative paths are in any case given. In number 1 for example, the entire address constitutes the absolute path: C:WINDOWSWeb . • 36. Compare And Contrast Dreamworks And Disney Animated films are one of the most entertaining forms of media out there. When it comes to animated films, two major film companies may come to mind: DreamWorks and Disney. For the past couple of years, people have been asking which company is better, and the answer is quite simply Disney. They have better stories, they maintain a certain theme, they are consistent, and extremely successful which is what makes them stand out from other studios and film companies. Of course, DreamWorks has some of these qualities as well, but they are far and few in between. Disney, when it comes to their stories, almost always deliver. They have made some of the most iconic films with brilliant stories such as Aladdin, Lion King, Wreck It Ralph, Frozen, Beauty and the Beast, etc. Granted, they haven t always made the best films, but the good definitely outweighs the bad. They take time to make their films great and usually release a film once a year. DreamWorks has focused more on the quantity instead of the quality of their films, releasing at least 2 3 movies a year. Because of this, only some good movies like Kung Fu Panda, How to Train Your Dragon, Megamind, etc. have come about and the rest only earning 7/10 or lower. Disney has always been consistent and has maintained two certain themes since the 1930 s, the first is to Follow Your Dreams.
