Urban Legend Of Bloody Mary
I will never forget her face as long as I live! The urban legend of bloody mary is terrifying, many will
see this as morbid but I see this a story as explaining why parents tell us never to never do this
challenge. This story is explaining why our parents say not to do this challenge known as the Bloody
Mary . This urban legend is one of my favorites, it is very paranormal and that is something I would
like to study one day. Bloody mary was a beautiful woman who was in a car accident in the 1700s.
She spent hours a day looking at herself in the mirror. One day she was in a severe car wreck, after
this wreck she wasn t able to look at herself in the mirror, even the kids at school could not look at her.
One night she was done thinking

Positive And Negative Effects Of Social Networking
Like all revolutions, the social networking revolution is accompanied by concerns and questions about
whether the changes have wrought something better or something worse. (Szumski and Karson ¶ 4)
The social networking revolution has come a long way in its accessibility and effectiveness and has
become a great resource for many people. But with its benefits come more serious downfalls that need
to be acknowledged and dealt with. While social networking can be used as a clear, accessible source,
for communication, social networking also has several negative effects on a person in ways such as
socially, mentally, and physically; by limiting internet time, restricting the accessibility, and
monitoring what kids are doing, social networking ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It not only affects the user, but also the people around them, and the effects are more serious than most
people know. In a article written by Shivani Jain, Rakesh Sharma and Sushil they explain that By
using social networking in the wrong way can cause behavior or a narcissistic and antisocial behavior
in children. (Jain and Sharma et al. ¶ 18) A problem comes when people create relationships over the
internet and beleive that it is a true genuine relationship. In a study done by The Royal Society Open
Science Organization, they found that social network users only feel as though 27.6% of their onlines
friends are people that would be there for them in hard times like a real friends. (Dunbar ¶11) Children
have a hard time understanding that social networking is not always real and accurate. As awesome as
it is that we can meet new people on the internet that we would likely not meet in person,
unfortunately it cannot be certain exactly who it is we are making a connection with. In an article from
Gale Cengage Learning, a columnist for the Times, Eleanor Mills exclaims that the skills that create
long lasting friendships needed in life by everyone are not being portrayed by social networking sites.
She continues to explain that the relationships developed and maintained on the internet should not be
taken as seriously as the relationships in real life. (Mills ¶) By not teaching kids what it takes to make
real life relationship it is going to be a problem when they

The Issue Of Mineral Rights Essay
As a first time homebuyer in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, I thought I had very carefully prepared
myself for all that the process would involve, including gathering income and financial
documentation, qualifying for a mortgage, arranging for a thorough inspection, evaluating needs and
desires from a home and finding a reputable agent to represent my interests. One area I never
considered, however, was the issue of mineral rights. To be perfectly honest, although I d heard the
term, I d never given consideration to what it actually meant. But that all changed in the middle of my
home buying process and I d like to share with you the knowledge I ve gained through extensive
research I completed to protect my own rights and the rights I would possess as a soon to be
homeowner. According to property law, two different forms of rights exist in any real property:
surface rights and mineral rights. Surface rights refer to any structure erected above the surface or sub
surface structures that do not exceed a certain depth, as well as rights to use all surface property
surrounding structures in accordance with zoning ordinances. Mineral rights refer to mineral
substances below a certain depth and the way in which they are preserved, explored or extracted.
These mineral substances can include natural gas, oil, or any other substance in common use today
that can be mined or otherwise extracted from below the surface. Local laws set the depth below
which surface rights terminate

Groupthink In Beast Of No Nation
Before becoming a child soldier, children go through a process that seems to desensitize and break
down their moral fiber. When faced with the situation of being a child soldier many are not given a
better option then to choose to conform to the aforementioned lifestyle or die. This situation presented
itself to Agu, the protagonist of the film Beast of No Nation. After losing his father and brother
through murder by the government soldiers, he was left with being an orphan alone in the jungle to
fend for himself. Thus causing Agu to be captured by a rebel group and recruited as a child soldier.
However, how does a normal child turn into a killer? Many tactics such as the use of promising
shelter, safety, and food can be used to influence a child like Agu to look ... Show more content on

The hazing philosophy is a tool used to gauge commitment and strength. Initiates are tasked with
subhuman task that are somewhat physically and psychologically harmful. This cultivates a brand of
loyalty and brotherhood that breeds groupthink. Groupthink is the phenomena where people seek the
desire to conform in a group which results in irrational or dysfunctional decision making. A hazing
ritual that was used as a training tactic for Agu was the Gauntlet , this is when potential child soldiers
had to run through a lineup of men while being beat trying to make it to the other side. The point is
that if you made it through you were strong enough to be a member of the rebel group and were
physically strong as well. Another example, however, which tested them psychologically, was the test
where they had to stand in a straight line and get shot at. What the children did not know was that the
gun would not actual release bullets. They were deceived and told that they were above normal
humans and would be protected from the enemies bullets because they were

Not Judge A Book By Its Cover
Never Judge a Book By its Cover
It is often said to never judge a book by its cover, yet in today s society judging is a major asset that
the citizens of the United States tend to do. In the school house, on the roads, in restaurants, grocery
stores, job interviews, and even in the churches are very familiar places where judging has become
vital. People are starting to discriminate, stereotype, and evaluate others as a lifestyle rather than a
duty. Today, many people are experiencing discrimination and stereotyping within finding jobs. In
today s society, when managers review an application the first aspect they view is the age. When a
manager sees that the applicant is under the age of eighteen years, he or she tends to think that the
applicant has no experience or maturity. Furthermore, when a person scans over a job objective or
description, the person tends to see sexist jobs. For instance, a firefighter is typically a dominant male
position. When an applicant reads the objectives, it states a gender within the use of pronouns such as
he or him. Also, males typically do not apply for dominant female position. For example, males do not
apply for secretary, nurse, or even school teacher positions, whereas many males have a tendency to
apply for masculine jobs such as police officers, administrators, or security. Many employers do not
notice this, but this is categorized as discrimination. Additionally, teenage students are encountering
more and more discrimination

They are a major competitor in their market, in Canada they are the only retailer I can think of that
sells the level of high end designer goods. * They have a significant inventory problem which is likely
covering up other operational problems * Holt Renfrew orders product several months in advance,
reducing the supply base will allow them to build closer relationships with suppliers. A result may be
reduced lead time. * $40 to $60 Million in inventory is received in the DC each month. This is
obviously too much as merchandise not sold is taken to the secondary warehouse. The secondary
warehouse is full. * Staff in store spend a lot of time expediting shipments likely because of the
distribution centers inventory problem , they do not seem to have a system, either random, fixed or
hybrid * Staff are constantly following up on order delivery status with suppliers and transportation
service providers. There is no order confirmation method so they do not have any idea when orders are
coming in or rather should be coming in. Implementing a supplier order confirmation, supplier
management, system could significantly improve visibility of expected delivery dates of orders so
planners/buyers can be aware of when expedites are required * Every time a store called to track down

Summary of Grant Writing for Dummies Overview Essay
Part I Setting the Stage with Grant Basics Chapter one helped clarify grant terminology that I may run
into while conducting grant research and filling out grant applications. I found this useful because I
now have a better understanding of what certain grants are looking for and the grant language that is
needed. This chapter also helped me learn how to set up a plan for keeping track of the grants I am
working on and helped set up the process. The second chapter goes over how to create and complete
funding plans for each grant. It stresses that without a plan it is difficult to have a successful grant
process. This chapter has useful suggestions on what to look for within an organization to decide
where funding is needed. The third ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some of these sites I have previewed and I think they will help me find grants that are available in our
area that we have not solicited at this time. The seventh chapter covers finding grants for individuals.
This chapter will probably not benefit my work at the Conservancy but it was interesting to see the
types of individual grants that are available and where to look for them. The eighth chapter covers
international grants and funding. I m not sure while working for this chapter I will use this information
but once again it was useful to know that there are resources out there to help with these types of
grants if I ever need them.
Part III Playing by the rules of the Grants Game
Chapters nine and ten are chapters that will help me prepare and write what the reviewers of
government grants are looking for. Each of these chapters covered tips that helped me learn what to
look for while looking for grants. This information will help me know which grants are going to be
right or wrong for our organization based on the qualifications. It was interesting to read that some
grants have picky qualifications and long processes before even submitting a request; while other
grants have quick and easy forms to fill out. It also stressed that with grant writing it is important to
follow all rules and read all guidelines. If you miss something that the grant reviewer wants you can
lose your funding request. The eleventh chapter was interesting because

Physical Abuse In Geriatric Patients
In today s societies older populations have been forgotten, depreciated, and severely deprived of
adequate healthcare resources, services, and funding (O Brien, 2010). Issues involving insufficient
healthcare policies, limited research, and lack of elderly abuse education has prevented geriatric
patients from receiving proper care (O Brien, 2010). With this in mind some research has shown high
rates of physical abuse and negligence towards elderly patients in the healthcare facilities (Zhang,
2011). The Adult Protective Services (APS) explains that negligence is one of the most common types
of domestic abuses reported (Zhang, 2011). As a matter of fact, reports of elderly abuse and neglect

There are three essential components of healthcare that need to be revised to accommodate the elderly
population: clinical practice, policy, and research (O Brien, 2010). One solution to resolve the issues
of physical negligence in geriatric populations is to promote educational programs that are involved in
all levels of medical training and practices in order to detect and intervene when elderly abuse is
suspected or evident (O Brien, 2010). Implementing specific guidelines for elderly patient care,
creating new methods and standards of practice for documentation, and creating a patient care model
to demonstrate proper treatment of elderly patients should be a priority for the entire healthcare
community (O Brien, 2010). Healthcare professionals and legislatures should closely collaborate with
each other in order to establish transparency. By developing uniform laws and policies that clearly
state specific documentation requirements needed for elderly abuse, intervention and detection
strategies for elderly abuse, and creating similar definitions for certain terms of abuse to avoid any
confusion between local, state, or national levels of government (O Brien, 2010). Most importantly,
there should be more contributions towards

The Genre Of The Sub Genre
Each genre has their conventional way of displaying themselves in movie titles. The sub genre not
often talked about, inspirational teacher/drama has this exact same flow, it has various key elements
that make up their story and become part of that sub genre. Given the importance of storytelling as an
organizational knowledge transfer mechanism, there is a need to develop a comprehensive and well
grounded framework for analyzing organizational stories to identify their salient characteristics, types
of knowledge embodied and their likely effectiveness in achieving their purpose. (Lee et al. 1). This
concept can be applied to all types of storytelling, sub genres are no exception. In the case of this sub

This wasn t very given light on the subject however it is clear it is an issue due to the whole school
having an academic failure and being played by an all black cast. 1988 was the time a film Stand and

students taking AP calculus in a low academic achieving school. The school board doesn t believe they
can produce great marks. As said by their mentor Jaime Escalante said: Those scores would have
never been questioned if my kids did not have Spanish surnames and come from burial grounds. The
same correlation can be made in the movie Great Debaters directed by Denzel Washington in 2007
when a black debating team staying in a white prominent community is chased off by some of the
town members after witnessing a lynching of the black citizen. Is it obvious that they are being
discriminated after a white townsperson exclaims There s niggers in that car and chases after them.
This film takes a more radical approach to discrimination, which creates a more impactful emphasis
on discrimination. A film that doesn t acknowledge discrimination however clearly is presented is the

due to not knowing the culture. There is not verbal talk of being a different race, this method of
discrimination is unique since the

How Is Booker T Washington Related To Education
Booker T. Washington and Education Throughout the life of Booker T. Washington expressed in his
autobiography, Up From Slavery, one element has remained the same through his influences,
education, public speaking, and teaching of others. This is the fact that one cannot succeed solely on a
book education, but must accompany this with that of an industrial education as well. He believed that
with this type of education, the black man could provide necessary services not only for himself, but
also for those in his community as well. Washington was born on a slave plantation in either 1858 or
1859 in Franklin County, Virginia. He grew up with his mother, his brother John, and his sister
Amanda. They lived in an extremely small log ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
About this same time a school had been stated in Kanawha Valley, a little town a few miles away from
Malden. This is where Washington began his book education. To attend the school, Washington, at
first, had to go to night classes due to his job at the salt mines. With a little persuasion, Washington
finally was allowed to attend during the day provided he worked from four o clock to nine o clock in
the morning. This education was very disorderly due to the fact he could not attend regularly.
Eventually Washington had to drop out of the school and continue working full time at the salt mines.
Washington continued working at the salt mines until he was able to work in the coal mines. The coal
mines paid a little more, but not a significant difference. It was here where Washington overheard two
men talking about a new all Negro school in Hampton, Virginia. In order to go to this school,
Washington needed to save money for clothes and traveling expenses. For this he worked in the house
of Mrs. Viola Ruffner, who turned out to have an ample affect on his life. The lessons that I learned in
the home of Mrs. Ruffner were as valuable to me as any education I have ever gotten since,
(Washington 52). From Mrs. Ruffner, Washington learned about taking pride in having a clean living
area. She also encouraged his education during the time of his work there. After saving whatever
money he could, Washington set off for the Hampton Normal and Agricultural Institute. During

Jim Jones as a Prophet
November 18, 1978 it all ended. Jim Jones and his
followers committed mass suicide in Guyana, South
America. The history of Jim Jones and the Peoples Temple
is still studied a great deal today. Why did all those
people follow Jones? Were they forced, were they brain
washed, or was Jones just that charismatic. In
this paper we will probe deep into Jonestown and answer
some of these questions. We will be using Max Webber s

Freyr Research Paper
The sun has been depicted as a god or an object pulled by a god throughout many mythologies. Most
people may think of Helios, Apollo, or Ra when the term sun god comes up, but in Norse mythology,
there is yet another god of the sun. Frey, who is also known as Freyr, is a god who is considered to be
a god of the sun, among many other things. It can be said that Frey is to the Norsemen what Apollo
was to the Greeks. He was one of the many deities that made up Norse mythology, and also one of the
most interesting.
Frey was the Norse god of the sun, rain, agriculture, fertility, and health, and an important god in the
Norse culture. He was part of the group of gods called the Vanir, a peace loving tribe, and he s also an
honorary member of the other tribe of Norse gods, the Aesir (McCoy). ... Show more content on

fertility and agriculture, farmers worshipped him and traveled with an image of Frey in their wagons.
They believed this practice made their crops thrive. Many ancient Scandinavian families claimed to be
descended from Frey because they thought his presence guaranteed a plentiful harvest and peace
(Lindahl). As with most gods in other mythologies, there was a complex family system. Frey had a
twin sister, Freya, with whom he also had a child with. His father was Njord, a sea god, and while it is

From the Large-Scale Universe to the Milky Way
Cosmology is the study of the universe, everything from the largest galaxies to the smallest atom. It
attempts to answer the question, How does the universe work? , by looking at everything in the
universe and working to understand it. Cosmology has always been studied, however in the last 20
years, technology has given scientists new information and allowed for an increasing knowledge of
the structure and history of the universe with the ultimate goal of finding a theory that can explain
everything. The Copernican Revolution was the beginning of modern cosmology. It was the time
when the geocentric model of the solar system was disproved, opening up the possibilities that
explained the universe. Newton s Laws provided another piece of the cosmology puzzle and gave
today s scientists the laws they must work with to explain the universe. Albert Einstein provided yet
another theory the universe must operate on, giving scientists even more boundaries for whatever
discoveries they make. With the modern addition of advanced telescopes, today s scientists are able to
explain the vastness of the universe, as well as how galaxies, stars, planets, and all the other matter
that makes up the universe. The Big Bang theory explains how the universe came to be. Before the
Big Bang, there was nothing. After, there was something. 14 billion years ago, a massive expansion
began, creating all the matter necessary for the universe to exist today. It was an extremely dense, hot,

Persuasive Essay About Study Abroad
Why do people leave their home countries in order to live in a foreign country? Why do they move
abroad? Some people believe that getting up and moving to a different is not hard, but it is not as easy
as it sounds. People do so for various reasons: to escape as a refugee if there are certain circumstances
and issues like a revolution or war are going in a country or immigrate to change their life forever.
In my case, I decided to move to a foreign country as an exchange student, surviving a long forty two
hour flight from my home country, Tajikistan, to the USA. Actually, it was not my own idea to study
abroad. My parents decided that it would be a great idea for me to spend my junior and senior year in
the United States as an exchange student. They have always wanted the best for me. I remember the
day; My family and friends were celebrating my thirteenth birthday party. During the party, my dad
was discussing the idea of sending me abroad with his friends. First of all, I thought he was joking
then but now, four years later, I realized that it actually happened and I am here, in Lincoln, Nebraska,
about to spend my second Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays in another country, thousands miles
away from home.

Information Security And The Healthcare
Introduction Information security and privacy is occupying a most important role in the healthcare
territory in order to deliver protected information process to their patients (Appari, Johnson, 2010). As
healthcare department is the organization with vast data and essential information the hospitals has to
keep a useful information security technique in their enterprise process (Mishra et al., 2011).
Information security is one such phase in the healthcare sphere which is extremely problematic to
describe and evaluate even to the individuals who are working on the process. In the healthcare
organization, information is of many types which required for the work and even the security is a main
control for almost all the practices which are transmitted out in the healthcare field (Appari, Johnson,
2010). Hospitals, in specific, have been instructed to create a new set of security specialists to protect
healthcare data tools techniques upon which exists may rely. Healthcare data is very critical for
patients because it is very confidential records. If a medical apparatus is filled with a computer virus it
can even exemplify a possibility to patients lives. Hence, hospitals should design alertness of the risk,
to defend against concerns to healthcare databanks and be concerned about the high risk of infected
computers or medical tools being connected to their networks (Mishra et al., 2011).

In the letters at the beginning of the novel, it s stated that a Robert Walton, an explorer, is sailing in the
Arctic Ocean and eventually stumbles upon an injured Victor Frankenstein. In the letters, Walton is
retelling what Frankenstein had told him about his story. Frankenstein was at birth a Genevese,
belonging to distinguished family. As a child, he enjoyed learning things and he was quick to learn

opponent s force while trying to enforce their own in a controlled and regulated match.
Wrestling matches have changed in countless ways over time. From Ancient Olympics to the common
middle school matches, wrestling has maintained one important quality. It s a fight. It s either you or
the other man, win you live, lose you die. Wrestling isn t a get together where people gather and roll
on the ground and leave. People who have ever seen an actual fight know that after a few punches are
thrown it basically becomes a wrestling match. Fighting isn t glamorous and wrestling isn t either. One
of the greatest things about wrestling is that it is not extremely

How Did Augustus Caesar Use Propaganda
Introduction
Art and architecture consist the expression of society s ethos and moral character; they function as its
mirrors. Especially during times of crisis, change or instability, they reflect the state of its values.
When we look back in Rome in 27 BCE, the time when Augustus Caesar founded the Roman
Principate and became its first emperor, art served as one of his media to first claim, then establish and
finally stabilize his domination. As Paul Zanker comments rarely has art been pressed into the service
of political power so directly as in the Age of Augustus .
Augustus was a political genius who accomplished to establish peace (Pax Romana which is
sometimes called Pax Augusta to honour his name) and stabilize his position as the Roman emperor
between his rivals with great ingenuity. In order to understand the statement above, we need to discuss

The use of propaganda throughout time, especially when it comes to politics, is a common and widely
adopted means of predominance and influence of the masses. However, looking back into history, few
people of power and politicians used propaganda as successfully and effectively as the first emperor of
Rome, Augustus Caesar.
As briefly mentioned above, over time Augustus dramatically altered the balance of power in the
Roman governance system without seeming to do so; indeed, in Res Gestae 34.3 he explicitly
claimed, I exceeded all in influence, but I had no greater power than the others who were colleagues
with me in each magistracy .
To understand Augustus means of influence to his audience and his agenda is to understand the man
himself as well as his ambitions for the Roman Empire. In an attempt to categorize his work, it can be
claimed that Augustus had two main themes in the use of propaganda. The first theme was correlated
to his concern to establish himself, his right to rule and his influence, while the second one was his
ambition to create and maintain peace and

AUM SHINRIKYO AND THE EVENTS LEADING TO THE 1995 TOKYO SUBWAY SARIN

SGL: SFC MACRI Abstract
This paper will explore research results done through the internet and through published books on the
background of the cult group Aum Shinrikyo, now known as the group Aleph, and several other Sarin
gas attacks, to include the terrorist attack on the Tokyo subway on 20 March 1995. There is a lot of
speculation and questions surrounding this cult group, which will be discussed later, who started out
as a peaceful yoga group by the founder and his wife, turn into a radical doomsday cult religion
capable of not one but several chemical terrorists acts towards their own countrymen. According ...

The articles focus on the beginnings of the group as a peaceful yoga group and lead up to the most
recent events with the chemical attacks of the Tokyo subway systems. Shoko Asahara, who was born
Chizuo Matsumoto, during his stay in India in 1986, while he was on various religious retreats in the
Himalayan Mountains, claimed to have found enlightenment and upon his return to Japan founded the
group Aum Shinrikyo in 1987. The group started out with a small following from the yoga studio,
Aum Shinsen no kai, he and his wife, Kazuko, owned and operated. Eventually word starting
spreading about his so called teachings of the supreme truth (World Religions and Spirituality Project
VCU, Jackie Fowler, 2001). Asahara claimed that he had the power to read minds and because of his
enlightenment, claimed to have visions or prophesies, as he would call them, about future events.
Asahara started preaching sermons about how his visions showed him that the world would end by the
turn of the 21st century and that the only survivors would be Aum Shinrikyo members themselves.
The group was so obsessed with Armageddon that it went so far as to try to make it happen
themselves.
In March 1993, Asahara gave orders to start production of Sarin gas

Examples Of Satire In The Simpsons
The Simpsons: Equal Opportunity Satire While there are many different perspectives on whether the
popular animated show The Simpsons depicts Christianity in a favorable, unfavorable or apathetic
light, my personal opinion is that the signature satirical style of the show is actually a strategy to
please the widest audience, whether religious or not presenting equal opportunity satire. Their
unapologetic and unabashed way of making fun of anything and everything is what has allowed the
show to continue for so many seasons and also allow the viewer to draw their own conclusions. The
diverse characters represented in the series advocate a wide range of different perspectives, ranging
from the atheistic to the theistic. In the 1992 episode, Homer the Heretic, where the plotline can be ...

On one hand, Christians would see the fact that the Simpson home burned and that Homer was saved
by Flanders as divine retribution and a second chance by God for Homer s refusal to attend weekly
services. On the other, atheists would say that the fact that Homer saw God in his dreams would be
simply another instance of people using easily explained natural phenomena to reinforce their biases
and confirmation bias when Homer reinforces his belief in God by being saved by Flanders
(Confirmation Bias). Nevertheless, the show accommodates many different cultures and beliefs.
Pinksy says individually, family members represent a spectrum of belief, from Homer s fear based neo
paganism, to Marge s true belief, to Lisa s disenchantment with mainline, socially conscious
Protestantism, in favor of Buddhism as well as the fundamentalist Flanders family. He also adds that
other, non Protestant denominations and faiths also figure in episodes Catholicism, Judaism, Hinduism
and Buddhism (but not Islam) (Pinsky). Regardless, the show has been criticized by Christians since

The Omnipotence And Omniscience Of God Essay

The Omnipotence and Omniscience of God
Does God exist in the universe, or does the universe exist in God? This is the question mankind must
answer when we discuss the attributes of God. Many times humanity attempts to place God in the
universe and placing universal laws and limitations on God, but God is not bound by the laws of the
universe, because the universe exists in God. If it true that God has created everything than how can
he be limited by anything? Only God could limit Himself, by His own choice to do so. Thomas V.
Morris in his article on the omnipotence of God asks; can God do everything that is logically possible?
Who s logic? Are we made in the Image and Likeness of God, or are we attempting to make Him in
ours? The difficulty is this: as humans, we are imperfect, with our viewpoints so limited is it God we
connect to, or merely our own impression of Him? As imperfect humans, we know only ourselves. We
connect to others, but we can never truly go into anybody s mind but our own. Every person exists in a
specific manner, completely immersed in his individual awareness, which is egocentric and exclusive.
As human beings, we look towards reason and logic to try to understand existence and our place in it.
However, there is no human being who is omniscient, so therefore our logic can be flawed, so what is
logically possible?
In the article; Omniscience and human freedom: a

Partition Is The Gateway For Mass Hatred Between Hindus...
Partition itself was the gateway for mass hatred between Hindus and Muslims. Following partition as
majority of Hindus, Sikh, and Muslim relocated into India and Pakistan based on their respective
religions, the Hindu majority being represented by India and the Muslim majority represented by
Pakistan. Several people did go to their respective sides following the partition, feeling as though the
two religious groups truly were separate people, however not every one took part in this migration,
some Muslims and Hindus chose not to relocate despite their religious interests. The short story Toba

Manto uses his main character Bishan Singh s, a formerly wealthy landowner in Toba Tek Singh, a
place in Pakistan, with a fragile sense of what the partition involved, to highlight the partitions
negative impact on an individual s sense of loyalty to where they feel they should and have always
belonged. Manto and Sathyu use their stories to show the complex relationships of individuals to their
homeland and the large implications religious politics have on their social, familial and ancestral
relationships in South Asia. Partition led to the unraveling of several investments that Muslims had to
support their lives in India before partition. The film Garahm Hawa (1975) highlights the shoe
manufacturing business of the Mirzas, a Muslim family living in a house filled with ancestral history
for their family, in India. Salim Mirza attempts to acquire business loans from the banks and
moneylenders while in India but is turned down simply because he is Muslim. The film shows how
Salim and his family face terrible misfortunes because of their Muslim loyalties, the family loses their
historic home and one by one they begin to move away. Initially, the film shows that even though they
are Muslims, the family respect and care for India, until the country continues to tear them apart for
who they are. Sathyu uses

Violence happens often within the community, whether over petty differences such as stealing food
from another or challenging a dominant chimp, but it never lasts long, as the chimpanzees are quick to
reassure one another with grooming and hand holding, kissing foreheads or embracing each other.
Grooming is another aspect of chimpanzee society that is extremely important to their lifestyle, and
can happen up to hundreds of times a day throughout chimp communities. Chimpanzees will often
groom each other out of submission, reassurance, happiness or even boredom. Newborns are almost
never allowed to be groomed by anyone other than the mother, but as they grow older, children often
partake in this ceremony that also could be considered a part of chimp culture instead of necessity.
Additionally, grooming and being groomed tie into the hierarchy, as the dominant male or female
often allow a grooming session to take place as a sign of forgiveness or submission. Chimpanzees are
not lonely animals, and will frequently seek each others company for group grooming sessions, or do
activities together. Hunting is a common sport that chimpanzees often use teamwork

Sexual Orientation And Identity Of An Individual
Identity is vital to every person. Every individual has his or her own identity as well as his own values.
It is these values that help describe the individual s identity. The various aspects that make an
individual s identity is the gender, physical ability, race and sexual orientation. This dispels out the
confusion that exist between sexual orientation and identity of an individual. Sexual orientation is a
branch of a person s identity.
Sexual orientation is a branch of personal identity that has existed for long though it is likely to be
ignored by many people. From the past, in the people s mindset, it was acceptable, normal and proper
for men and women to enter into a sexual relationship. Traditionally, sexual attraction between people
of opposite sex, commonly referred to as heterosexual orientation, has been common and acceptable.
However, with the growth of globalization, technology and influence of western education, there are
many changes in the sexual orientation and individuals culture value.
The topic of sexual orientation touches various sections and various people in the society. The
community culture, social fabric, religion, political, health and judicial formations have had the
influence of sexual orientations. These formations expressed divergent reactions in regard to support,
condemnation or protection in favor of different types of sexual orientations. The concept of sexual
orientation is wide and complex and encompasses several components. In order

Maslow s Hierarchy consists of five levels: Physiological needs, safety needs, love and Belonging,
Esteem, and Self actualization. Maslow believed that no level could be skipped and only from the

hierarchy is physiological needs. I, as a person, feel as though I have met all of my needs. I have the
comfort of a home thanks to my mother and brother, food on the table to eat, a place to sleep and to

Modern Tragedy Analysis
Is Modern Tragedy Truly Tragedy?
(A critique of Stephen King s inspired movie The Green Mile as it relates to Aristotle s Poetics)
Tragedy is an imitation, not of men, but of an action and of life, and life consists in action, and its end
is a mode of action, not a quality (Butcher). Aristotle says that tragedy has more to do with the action
of the plot than the characters themselves. Tragedy is best defined as a drama that includes a clear plot
line and a protagonist who has a character flaw that leads to his or her downfall. Character flaws occur
in many ways, for some it is excessive pride, for others it is just the need to be kind to others and
disregarding a person s own health. The major difference between a tragedy and a comedy is ... Show

The tragic hero, consequently, should be a man better than ourselves, but not perfect; and he should
suffer from a flaw which shows itself in some mistaken judgement or act resulting in his downfall
(Poetics Packet). While it may not seem like a flaw, Coffey s character flaw is that he has some sort of
supernatural healing power which, in a way, got him into the death row area of prison to begin with.
Coffey performs an act where he touches ill people and for whatever reason, the person is cured, and
Coffey coughs up insects that represent the negative things leaving a person s body as the individual
heals. As the movie wraps up, Paul and various other guards are aware of John s innocence, yet there
is no evidence so he will have to be put to death regardless. Throughout the movie, men are put to
death and the audience can see just how gruesome that is, yet people often feel little remorse or pity
for the first several executions in the movie. The thing that is so emotional about John Coffey s
execution is that the viewers are aware he is being put to death even though he is innocent. Virtually
no one feels the urge to execute an innocent man, but many feel the urge to execute someone who is
guilty (Dow). That is a highly accurate statement, the majority of people have no issue killing a guilty
person, but the real tearjerker is being

Basketball Descriptive Speech
Tweet! the ref blew the whistle and the game started and we won the jump ball. The ball was tipped up
to me and I dribbled the ball up the court and I called a play. We were playing our rivals, Chatham,
who beat our team last year. This year is the year we are going to redeem ourselves! It was Christmas
Eve and this win would be the perfect early Christmas present.
X! , I shouted. This play was supposed to get the ball to me to shoot a three pointer in the corner. We
ran the play to perfection. I caught the ball, jumped up and shot it. I watched the ball as it sunk
through the hoop as I landed back down on the hardwood floor. I ran back on defense guarding their
best player. He called for a screen and drove to the hoop for an easy layup. The game went back and
forth like this for the entire time until they got the lead. Next time down the court it was our ball. I
fired the basketball like a gun at my teammate, pass the defense, who caught the ball and threw up a
bad shot. My coach called a timeout and scolded him and put him on the bench.
Johnny! We need to get the ball inside the paint to Nate! my coached belted with a look of worry on
his face.
Yes, coach! But what if it isn t executed correctly? I replied.
It will work if you guys focus and do what we practiced. he responded. I took his advice on it and the
next time our team was on offense I called the play and we successfully got the ball inside to Nate (our
center). He caught the ball and dribbled toward the hoop determined to lay the ball in the basket. As he
jumped off the ground he was tackled by the opposing center.
Tweeeet, he blared his whistle. Nate fell to the ground clutching his knee from the impact. Some of
my teammates and I hustled over to help him up but he couldn t get up. After a couple of minutes of
downtime, and trying to get Nate off the ground, we finally started up again. Nate was a big part of the
team. He led the team in blocks and rebounds. The game carried on until the 4th quarter. We were
barely hanging on. There were 10 seconds left in the game and we were down two points. I trotted up
the court dribbling the ball in my left hand. As I passed half court I looked at the clock and noticed

Probing Insanity in Alice s Adventures in Wonderland Essay
Probing Insanity in Alice s Adventures in Wonderland
Everybody dreams during his lifetime. It is a part of human nature that we experience almost
everyday. Dreams can be lost memories, past events and even fantasies that we relive during our
unconscious hours of the day. As we sleep at night, a new world shifts into focus that seems to erase
the physical and moral reality of our own. It is an individual s free mind that is privately exposed,
allowing a person to roam freely in his own universe. As we dream, it seems that we cannot
distinguish right from wrong or normal from abnormal and, therefore, commit acts that we would not
have done in a realistic society. Perhaps Lewis Carroll, author of Alice s Adventures in Wonderland, ...

However, Alice does not react angrily, but goes along with the peculiar conduct of the inhabitants, as it
is a world composed entirely of her own visualization. Inside Alice s mind is a malconformation of
worldly ideas, which could be categorized as characteristics of an insane personality. In the stories of
Wonderland, Alice wanders in a state of dim consciousness, engrossed in a world of her own
entertainment. It is such a question asked by Lewis Carroll that makes us wonder whether Alice is
insane or merely absorbed in a dimension devised by her innocence and allure of nature and people
around her.
Alice s Adventures in Wonderland shows us how a child s innocence can create an imaginative world
that would be considered abnormal and insane through the eyes of an adult. Alice dreams of creatures
and animals that have the ability to talk, and she constantly shifts in shape and size, perverting the
proportions of Wonderland around her. She also has conversations with other characters that the are
full of nonsense and odd remarks. Perhaps Alice s irrational personality is best displayed during the
scene A Mad Tea Party when Alice encounters a Hatter, March Hare and Dormouse sitting down for
teatime. She walks up to the crew nonchalantly and sits down to join them. Immediately, the Hatter
begins to make remarks about Alice s appearance and her manners. He is rude and snappy, having a

  • 2. Urban Legend Of Bloody Mary I will never forget her face as long as I live! The urban legend of bloody mary is terrifying, many will see this as morbid but I see this a story as explaining why parents tell us never to never do this challenge. This story is explaining why our parents say not to do this challenge known as the Bloody Mary . This urban legend is one of my favorites, it is very paranormal and that is something I would like to study one day. Bloody mary was a beautiful woman who was in a car accident in the 1700s. She spent hours a day looking at herself in the mirror. One day she was in a severe car wreck, after this wreck she wasn t able to look at herself in the mirror, even the kids at school could not look at her. One night she was done thinking ... • 3. Positive And Negative Effects Of Social Networking Like all revolutions, the social networking revolution is accompanied by concerns and questions about whether the changes have wrought something better or something worse. (Szumski and Karson ¶ 4) The social networking revolution has come a long way in its accessibility and effectiveness and has become a great resource for many people. But with its benefits come more serious downfalls that need to be acknowledged and dealt with. While social networking can be used as a clear, accessible source, for communication, social networking also has several negative effects on a person in ways such as socially, mentally, and physically; by limiting internet time, restricting the accessibility, and monitoring what kids are doing, social networking ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It not only affects the user, but also the people around them, and the effects are more serious than most people know. In a article written by Shivani Jain, Rakesh Sharma and Sushil they explain that By using social networking in the wrong way can cause behavior or a narcissistic and antisocial behavior in children. (Jain and Sharma et al. ¶ 18) A problem comes when people create relationships over the internet and beleive that it is a true genuine relationship. In a study done by The Royal Society Open Science Organization, they found that social network users only feel as though 27.6% of their onlines friends are people that would be there for them in hard times like a real friends. (Dunbar ¶11) Children have a hard time understanding that social networking is not always real and accurate. As awesome as it is that we can meet new people on the internet that we would likely not meet in person, unfortunately it cannot be certain exactly who it is we are making a connection with. In an article from Gale Cengage Learning, a columnist for the Times, Eleanor Mills exclaims that the skills that create long lasting friendships needed in life by everyone are not being portrayed by social networking sites. She continues to explain that the relationships developed and maintained on the internet should not be taken as seriously as the relationships in real life. • 4. The Issue Of Mineral Rights Essay As a first time homebuyer in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, I thought I had very carefully prepared myself for all that the process would involve, including gathering income and financial documentation, qualifying for a mortgage, arranging for a thorough inspection, evaluating needs and desires from a home and finding a reputable agent to represent my interests. One area I never considered, however, was the issue of mineral rights. To be perfectly honest, although I d heard the term, I d never given consideration to what it actually meant. But that all changed in the middle of my home buying process and I d like to share with you the knowledge I ve gained through extensive research I completed to protect my own rights and the rights I would possess as a soon to be homeowner. According to property law, two different forms of rights exist in any real property: surface rights and mineral rights. Surface rights refer to any structure erected above the surface or sub surface structures that do not exceed a certain depth, as well as rights to use all surface property surrounding structures in accordance with zoning ordinances. Mineral rights refer to mineral substances below a certain depth and the way in which they are preserved, explored or extracted. These mineral substances can include natural gas, oil, or any other substance in common use today that can be mined or otherwise extracted from below the surface. Local laws set the depth below which surface rights terminate ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When faced with the situation of being a child soldier many are not given a better option then to choose to conform to the aforementioned lifestyle or die. This situation presented itself to Agu, the protagonist of the film Beast of No Nation. After losing his father and brother through murder by the government soldiers, he was left with being an orphan alone in the jungle to fend for himself. Thus causing Agu to be captured by a rebel group and recruited as a child soldier. However, how does a normal child turn into a killer? The hazing philosophy is a tool used to gauge commitment and strength. Initiates are tasked with subhuman task that are somewhat physically and psychologically harmful. This cultivates a brand of loyalty and brotherhood that breeds groupthink. Groupthink is the phenomena where people seek the desire to conform in a group which results in irrational or dysfunctional decision making. A hazing ritual that was used as a training tactic for Agu was the Gauntlet , this is when potential child soldiers had to run through a lineup of men while being beat trying to make it to the other side. The point is that if you made it through you were strong enough to be a member of the rebel group and were physically strong as well. Another example, however, which tested them psychologically, was the test where they had to stand in a straight line and get shot at. What the children did not know was that the gun would not actual release bullets. They were deceived and told that they were above normal humans and would be protected from the enemies bullets because they were ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Not Judge A Book By Its Cover Never Judge a Book By its Cover It is often said to never judge a book by its cover, yet in today s society judging is a major asset that the citizens of the United States tend to do. In the school house, on the roads, in restaurants, grocery stores, job interviews, and even in the churches are very familiar places where judging has become vital. People are starting to discriminate, stereotype, and evaluate others as a lifestyle rather than a duty. Today, many people are experiencing discrimination and stereotyping within finding jobs. In today s society, when managers review an application the first aspect they view is the age. When a manager sees that the applicant is under the age of eighteen years, he or she tends to think that the applicant has no experience or maturity. Furthermore, when a person scans over a job objective or description, the person tends to see sexist jobs. For instance, a firefighter is typically a dominant male position. When an applicant reads the objectives, it states a gender within the use of pronouns such as he or him. Also, males typically do not apply for dominant female position. For example, males do not apply for secretary, nurse, or even school teacher positions, whereas many males have a tendency to apply for masculine jobs such as police officers, administrators, or security. Many employers do not notice this, but this is categorized as discrimination. Additionally, teenage students are encountering more and more discrimination ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This chapter also helped me learn how to set up a plan for keeping track of the grants I am working on and helped set up the process. The eighth chapter covers international grants and funding. I m not sure while working for this chapter I will use this information but once again it was useful to know that there are resources out there to help with these types of grants if I ever need them. Part III Playing by the rules of the Grants Game Chapters nine and ten are chapters that will help me prepare and write what the reviewers of government grants are looking for. Each of these chapters covered tips that helped me learn what to look for while looking for grants. This information will help me know which grants are going to be right or wrong for our organization based on the qualifications. It was interesting to read that some grants have picky qualifications and long processes before even submitting a request; while other grants have quick and easy forms to fill out. It also stressed that with grant writing it is important to follow all rules and read all guidelines. If you miss something that the grant reviewer wants you can lose your funding request. Physical Abuse In Geriatric Patients In today s societies older populations have been forgotten, depreciated, and severely deprived of adequate healthcare resources, services, and funding (O Brien, 2010). Issues involving insufficient healthcare policies, limited research, and lack of elderly abuse education has prevented geriatric patients from receiving proper care (O Brien, 2010). With this in mind some research has shown high rates of physical abuse and negligence towards elderly patients in the healthcare facilities (Zhang, 2011). There are three essential components of healthcare that need to be revised to accommodate the elderly population: clinical practice, policy, and research (O Brien, 2010). One solution to resolve the issues of physical negligence in geriatric populations is to promote educational programs that are involved in all levels of medical training and practices in order to detect and intervene when elderly abuse is suspected or evident (O Brien, 2010). Implementing specific guidelines for elderly patient care, creating new methods and standards of practice for documentation, and creating a patient care model to demonstrate proper treatment of elderly patients should be a priority for the entire healthcare community (O Brien, 2010). Healthcare professionals and legislatures should closely collaborate with each other in order to establish transparency. By developing uniform laws and policies that clearly state specific documentation requirements needed for elderly abuse, intervention and detection strategies for elderly abuse, and creating similar definitions for certain terms of abuse to avoid any confusion between local, state, or national levels of government (O Brien, 2010). Given the importance of storytelling as an organizational knowledge transfer mechanism, there is a need to develop a comprehensive and well grounded framework for analyzing organizational stories to identify their salient characteristics, types of knowledge embodied and their likely effectiveness in achieving their purpose. Their story s protagonists were a group of Hispanic students taking AP calculus in a low academic achieving school. The school board doesn t believe they can produce great marks. As said by their mentor Jaime Escalante said: Those scores would have never been questioned if my kids did not have Spanish surnames and come from burial grounds. The same correlation can be made in the movie Great Debaters directed by Denzel Washington in 2007 when a black debating team staying in a white prominent community is chased off by some of the town members after witnessing a lynching of the black citizen. Is it obvious that they are being discriminated after a white townsperson exclaims There s niggers in that car and chases after them. As briefly mentioned above, over time Augustus dramatically altered the balance of power in the Roman governance system without seeming to do so; indeed, in Res Gestae 34.3 he explicitly claimed, I exceeded all in influence, but I had no greater power than the others who were colleagues with me in each magistracy . • 26. The Omnipotence And Omniscience Of God Essay William Maillis PHL 111 Reaction Paper #2 Professor M. Scott Mayberry 13 December 2016 The Omnipotence and Omniscience of God Does God exist in the universe, or does the universe exist in God? This is the question mankind must answer when we discuss the attributes of God. Many times humanity attempts to place God in the universe and placing universal laws and limitations on God, but God is not bound by the laws of the universe, because the universe exists in God. If it true that God has created everything than how can he be limited by anything? Only God could limit Himself, by His own choice to do so. Thomas V. Morris in his article on the omnipotence of God asks; can God do everything that is logically possible? Who s logic? Are we made in the Image and Likeness of God, or are we attempting to make Him in ours? The difficulty is this: as humans, we are imperfect, with our viewpoints so limited is it God we connect to, or merely our own impression of Him? As imperfect humans, we know only ourselves. We connect to others, but we can never truly go into anybody s mind but our own. Every person exists in a specific manner, completely immersed in his individual awareness, which is egocentric and exclusive. As human beings, we look towards reason and logic to try to understand existence and our place in it. However, there is no human being who is omniscient, so therefore our logic can be flawed, so what is logically possible? In the article; Omniscience and human freedom: a ... Character flaws occur in many ways, for some it is excessive pride, for others it is just the need to be kind to others and disregarding a person s own health. The tragic hero, consequently, should be a man better than ourselves, but not perfect; and he should suffer from a flaw which shows itself in some mistaken judgement or act resulting in his downfall (Poetics Packet). While it may not seem like a flaw, Coffey s character flaw is that he has some sort of supernatural healing power which, in a way, got him into the death row area of prison to begin with. Coffey performs an act where he touches ill people and for whatever reason, the person is cured, and Coffey coughs up insects that represent the negative things leaving a person s body as the individual heals. As the movie wraps up, Paul and various other guards are aware of John s innocence, yet there is no evidence so he will have to be put to death regardless. Throughout the movie, men are put to death and the audience can see just how gruesome that is, yet people often feel little remorse or pity for the first several executions in the movie. The thing that is so emotional about John Coffey s execution is that the viewers are aware he is being put to death even though he is innocent. Virtually no one feels the urge to execute an innocent man, but many feel the urge to execute someone who is guilty (Dow). That is a highly accurate statement, the majority of people have no issue killing a guilty person, but the real tearjerker is being ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 37. Basketball Descriptive Speech Tweet! the ref blew the whistle and the game started and we won the jump ball. The ball was tipped up to me and I dribbled the ball up the court and I called a play. We were playing our rivals, Chatham, who beat our team last year. This year is the year we are going to redeem ourselves! It was Christmas Eve and this win would be the perfect early Christmas present. X! , I shouted. This play was supposed to get the ball to me to shoot a three pointer in the corner. We ran the play to perfection. I caught the ball, jumped up and shot it. I watched the ball as it sunk through the hoop as I landed back down on the hardwood floor. I ran back on defense guarding their best player. He called for a screen and drove to the hoop for an easy layup. The game went back and forth like this for the entire time until they got the lead. Next time down the court it was our ball. I fired the basketball like a gun at my teammate, pass the defense, who caught the ball and threw up a bad shot. My coach called a timeout and scolded him and put him on the bench. Johnny! We need to get the ball inside the paint to Nate! my coached belted with a look of worry on his face. Yes, coach! But what if it isn t executed correctly? I replied. It will work if you guys focus and do what we practiced. he responded. I took his advice on it and the next time our team was on offense I called the play and we successfully got the ball inside to Nate (our center). He caught the ball and dribbled toward the hoop determined to lay the ball in the basket. As he jumped off the ground he was tackled by the opposing center. Tweeeet, he blared his whistle. Nate fell to the ground clutching his knee from the impact. Some of my teammates and I hustled over to help him up but he couldn t get up. After a couple of minutes of downtime, and trying to get Nate off the ground, we finally started up again. Nate was a big part of the team. He led the team in blocks and rebounds. The game carried on until the 4th quarter. We were barely hanging on. There were 10 seconds left in the game and we were down two points. I trotted up the court dribbling the ball in my left hand. As I passed half court I looked at the clock and noticed there were only seven seconds ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. Probing Insanity in Alice s Adventures in Wonderland Essay Probing Insanity in Alice s Adventures in Wonderland Everybody dreams during his lifetime. It is a part of human nature that we experience almost everyday. Dreams can be lost memories, past events and even fantasies that we relive during our unconscious hours of the day. As we sleep at night, a new world shifts into focus that seems to erase the physical and moral reality of our own. It is an individual s free mind that is privately exposed, allowing a person to roam freely in his own universe. As we dream, it seems that we cannot distinguish right from wrong or normal from abnormal and, therefore, commit acts that we would not have done in a realistic society. Perhaps Lewis Carroll, author of Alice s Adventures in Wonderland, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, Alice does not react angrily, but goes along with the peculiar conduct of the inhabitants, as it is a world composed entirely of her own visualization. Inside Alice s mind is a malconformation of worldly ideas, which could be categorized as characteristics of an insane personality. In the stories of Wonderland, Alice wanders in a state of dim consciousness, engrossed in a world of her own entertainment. It is such a question asked by Lewis Carroll that makes us wonder whether Alice is insane or merely absorbed in a dimension devised by her innocence and allure of nature and people around her. Alice s Adventures in Wonderland shows us how a child s innocence can create an imaginative world that would be considered abnormal and insane through the eyes of an adult. Alice dreams of creatures and animals that have the ability to talk, and she constantly shifts in shape and size, perverting the proportions of Wonderland around her. She also has conversations with other characters that the are full of nonsense and odd remarks. Perhaps Alice s irrational personality is best displayed during the scene A Mad Tea Party when Alice encounters a Hatter, March Hare and Dormouse sitting down for teatime. She walks up to the crew nonchalantly and sits down to join them. Immediately, the Hatter begins to make remarks about Alice s appearance and her manners. He is rude and snappy, having a criticism for everything that Alice ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
