Google Express And Amazon Prime
Executive Summary: Google Express and Amazon Prime are currently competing in the e commerce
sector, particularly with regard to same day delivery. Prime is an established brand with over ten years
of experience, whereas Express has only been around for about a year and a half. Another major
difference is that Amazon operates and distributes from its own warehouses, whereas Google operates
like a high end postal service, shuttling packages from local retailer to customer. There are several
advantages and disadvantages that can result from supply chain processes of each of these companies.
Due to its experience, Amazon has been able to build distinctive infrastructure and wealth of
information on customer wants and needs that is hard to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Amazon and Google Express are two such retailers who are concentrating especially on these
functions by acquiring related technology firms and by engaging in R D. In the future, the e retailer
who offers the fastest delivery will likely be the front runner (Keifer). The competition is intense from
e grocers like Ocado, to clothing retailers like Next and traditional mail services like FedEx. The latest
trend in the industry, after offering maximum variety and flexible payment options, is competition for
same day delivery. Companies like eBay, Walmart, Amazon and Google Express have all started
efforts to try and offer same day delivery. The key to offering same day delivery is to have products
stored near the potential customer. In the following sections we will explain the supply chains of
Amazon and Google Express and analyze the advantages and disadvantages of their respective
business model/supply chain. Amazon Introduction: Amazon was launched in 2005 with its
headquarters in Seattle. It initially offered $79/year for two day delivery nationwide for unlimited
orders. The price has been increased to $99/year now. Some regions where Amazon operates include
other services such as Amazon Instant Video, Kindle Lending Library, Prime Music and Amazon
Fresh. Amazon s supply chain works around 90+ centralized warehouses to distribute products.

A Historical Context That Changed Perspectives
A. Historical context that changed perspectives.
Before 1970 s, many criminological theories focused on the offender and motivations that leads to
criminal acts. Cohen and Felson (1979) proposed a different aspect where they shifted the focus from
offender and motivations to the criminal act itself and opportunities behind it (Andrews, 2004).
One important aspect is that lifestyle theory by Hindelang back in 1978 and the routine activities
theory by Cohen and Felson (1979) are merely the same. Routine activities could be seen as an
expansion of lifestyle theory or as many authors do, as different versions of the same perspective. That
shift of focus had two different explanations of crime along with it. First are historical explanations,
which describe crimes through past events, and the second are situational explanations, which describe
crimes incidents through circumstances. This approach utilized to describe group differences when it
comes to victimization and trends in crime rates. From sociologists point of view, routine activities
theory classifies normal activities and illegal ones and explains some odd associations between
beneficial social change and increasing crime rate. It is important to know that routine activities theory
is against the typical assumption that crime start from bad things (Osgood, Wilson, O Malley,
Bachman, Johnston, 1996).
B. Stages of theory development overtime.
As previously discussed, Cohen and Felson (1979) proposed routine activities

Wet Rub Vs Grill
There are two traditional methods for seasoning meat destined for the grill: wet and dry. Choosing one
over the other places you on one side of yet another barbecue debate. As with most culinary debates,
both sides have some strong arguments as we will see when we compare these two methods of
flavoring meat. What is the difference between a dry rub and a wet rub? As you might expect, dry rubs
have only dry ingredients. They will typically include powdered spices and sometimes dry herbs along
with salt and sugar. The idea is to create a crust for the meat that will flavor it without making it too
moist. You should apply the rub liberally to the outside of the meat and massage it in. The longer you
let it sit on the surface of the meat, the more flavor it will impart to the meat. Because all of the spices
stay on the surface, a dry rub is a great way to add a controlled amount of flavor without
overpowering the natural flavor of the meat. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The big difference is that they are placed into a liquid medium like oil or vinegar. You want a wet rub
to be thin enough to easily coat a piece of meat but thick enough to stick to it. Like dry rubs, wet rubs
should be applied heavily to the surface of the meat. Is one easier or better to use when grilling? Dry
rubs are easier to apply and generally less messy to work with than wet rubs. In addition, a dry rub
will not drip onto your coals and cause flare ups or lower their temperature. Wet rubs have advantages
in that meat should be more tender and flavorful, especially if you let it sit in the marinade for at least

Mechanical Response And Failure Behavior Of A Defective...
Molecular Simulations on the Mechanical Response and Failure Behavior of a Defective Graphene:
Cases of Stone Thrower Wales (5 7 7 5) defects
G. Rajasekaran Rajesh Kumar and Avinash Parashar Department of Mechanical and Industrial
Engineering Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee 247667, India
ABSTRACT
Structural defects which are inevitable during the production, chemical and heat treatment processes
can affect the mechanical properties of graphene and also defects can be deliberately introduced in
graphene by ion beam irradiation to get required properties for specific applications. So,
understanding the effect of defects on mechanical properties and failure behaviours of a graphene
sheet is important for its applications. In this work, the effects of linear and angular orientation of
different types of Stone Thrower Wales (STW 1 and STW 2) defects on the mechanical properties and
failure behaviour of graphene membrane have been investigated in the frame of molecular dynamics.
This work discussing about tuneable mechanical properties by amending the linear orientation of STW
1 and STW 2 defects at different angles in zigzag direction and armchair direction respectively. The
results obtained from the present work may provide the insights in tailoring the mechanical properties
by preparing defects in graphene, and give a full picture for the applications of graphene with defects
in flexible electronics and nanodevices.

The Aim of Man Essays
Khouanchay (Kay) Krueger
Mr. Matthew Adams
English 150 SB Annotation 4
October 9, 2010
Aristotle The Aim of Man Aristotle starts off in his essay explaining the definitions of Good, Primacy
of Statecraft and the study of Ethics. He defines good as where all things are to be aimed, for example
health. He then defines Statecraft as citizens of a state, a country, and of the world need to do good for
their own good but more importantly for the good of the state. He also characterizes various types of
good. Finally, the definition on study of Ethics. This talks about the pure excellence of justice that
involves the disagreements and agreements of uncertainty and certainty. Aristotle also talks about
happiness and where a certain ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He uses the metaphor of a chameleon to illustrate this. We are all different and when you think of a
chameleon, you first think of colors and personalities. In his example as a visual we can say that
people s happiness ranges so far and in between. My response to the topic about the aim of man is that
I agree that we all strive to achieve the very same goal as Aristotle points out; which is happiness. I
think that his essay captures his definition of happiness well by repeating it several times throughout.
This is effective to me because it is a repetitive way to enforce the topic. I agree with Aristotle
especially that one does not know happiness until they can make the discernment. For the same reason
he stated that a child can not be happy. I like his definition to happiness because it isn t just
characterized by good fortunes but it is much deeper in that it derives from the soul with perfect
righteousness. I can identify a strength of the essay is that he doesn t get off the topic often. He
touches about wealth and how that isn t the true source of happiness but quickly closes on the subject
and goes back to the good that we are seeking. Another example where he does this was towards the
end, he briefly talks about sleep is an inactivity of the soul. He clearly dismisses the subject by
pointing out its irrelevance. This makes the essay easier to follow. Another strength that I notice was
he used the

Tsarina Alexandra Romanokov s Failure Of Russia
Tsarina Alexandra Romanov is accused of having a serious helping hand in the ultimate demise of
Russia and eventual revolution that occurred. While many of the Tsarina s actions did contribute to the
eventual failures in Russia, Tsarina Alexandra was dealing with much more than just the political
nature of Russia during the time of World War I. The Tsarina found herself struggling with finding a
balance between the Russian distrust due to her lineage, her struggle to produce an heir, and finding
her place with Tsar Nicholas II away at the front. In a time when the Romanov family was the center
of distrust, the German princess found herself conflicted between her strong religious beliefs, Russian
patriotism, and her desire to protect Russian aristocracy in order to provide her son a future as Tsar.
With all these conflicting allegiances in her life, Tsarina Alexandra found herself trying to establish
her role as a leader of the Russian people, a mother, and a wife while also trying to balance her duty as
a Tsarina in the scope of family and war. Tsarina Alexandra Romonov was born in Darmstadt,
Germany as Alix of Hesse and by Rhine to the second daughter of Queen Victoria. This connection to
both the Queen of England and Germany was problematic for the Tsarina because she found herself
trying to be Russian, German, and English which ultimately produced distrust between her and the
Russian people. Though the Tzar Nicholas II showed her love and interest, the Russian society

Characteristics Of The American Dream
For some eras and numerous decades, the idea of the American dream has guaranteed democratic
culture and material thriving. For some, the thought of flourishing stayed only a fantasy. In any case,
for a plethora of Americans in the 1950s, the American Dream turned into a reality. Post war, they had
within their field of reach was the opportunity to have so much more than their predecessors. The
1950 s in America were described by post war wealth and economically great circumstances. With the

New families drove the requirement for lodging and William Levitt was the first to jump on this
opportunity. He drove the increase of rural areas with his reasonably priced mass created homes. From
1946 to 1958 GNP more than doubled. The creation of interstate mega highways, freeways and the
ensuring of home advances for suburban one family homes helped boost industries. With openings for
the opportunity to receive an education given by the G.I. Bill and the advancements in various
industries, a road was paved to economic prosperity. However, this prosperity was not shared with all
as millions were left poor. Farmers, African Americans and other minorities existed at levels beneath
those necessary for human decency, and were often left without adequate housing and education and
medical care, which left them lacking the civil right of equal opportunity.
The politics of the 1950 s included the start of our Cold War with Russia, the Korean War,
McCarthyism and the domestic civil rights movement. After World War II, Russia and the United
States developed as the world s new superpowers. With the United States distrust of communist
Russia and Russia s distrust of the U.S, the start of an all out battle between communistic atheism and
Christianity, for the control of the world was denoted. The Korean War went from 1950 1953 amongst
North and South Korea with Communists supporting North Korea and the U.S and its allies helping

History of the Development of Computers Essay
DEVELOPMENT OF COMPUTERS
As we are stepping towards the era of 2020, man have consistently been innovative and creative in
developing and improving technology for various sectors to make the world a better place for us to
live in. If we look closely today, the development of IT and Computer sector and its application have
greatly influenced various other sectors like telecommunication, transport, agriculture, labour, finance,
etc to be more efficient and effective at their work.

form of input, processing as well as output. In a modern computer, these processing is done
electronically hence enabling a vastly greater number of calculation to be performed in lesser time.
Binary codes which are representations of numerical numbers were used to process images, sounds,
text and graphic. In digital computers, there are ones and zeros that represents the electrical on and off
states and endless combinations of those to process any input.
Moving on, the development of computer can be assessed from two perspectives. One perspective
would be the invention of hardware components over time like vacuum tubes, transistors, integrated
circuits and microprocessors that can be referred to as a generation of change. In the other hand,
another perspective would be how user friendly were the computers over a period of time. In the
1950s the computers were almost impossible to use except by very patient geniuses. Next in the 1960s
and 1970s, it could only be programmable by highly trained people. Lastly, from the 1980s till present
time the computers are now smaller cheaper and useable by just about anyone.
From the hardware development perspective, the first generation of computer was the Electronic
Numerical Integrator And Computer (ENIAC). These first electronic computers used vacuum tubes.

Dwight D. Eisenhower was the third son of David and Ida Stover Eisenhower. He was born in 1890 in
Denison, Texas, and named David Dwight Eisenhower, although he was known as Dwight David by
many. In 1891, the family moved to Abilene, Kansas, where Eisenhower was brought up. He was the
third of seven sons. He and his older brothers were all called Ike by their family, Eisenhower was
known as Little Ike . In his high school years, he was known to excel in sports due to his active nature.

Becoming familiar with these men proved to be an asset in Eisenhower s military career. Before the
entrance of America into World War II, he found himself promoted to the rank of brigadier general.
After the bombing of Pearl Harbor, General George C. Marshall called him to Washington for a war
plans assignment. Eisenhower impressed both the general as well as The President (Theodore
Roosevelt) with his well thought out plan to focus on weakening Germany before assaulting the
Japanese. Because of this, he was placed in command of the Allied Forces landing in North Africa in
November 1942. On D Day, 1944, he was Supreme Commander of the troops invading France. After
heading many decisive victories for the U.S., Eisenhower accepted Germany s surrender on May 7,
1945. He returned home a national hero.
Eisenhower s Term in Office (1952 1960)
After the war, he became President of Columbia University, then left to assume the first position of
supreme commander over the new NATO forces being assembled in 1951. In 1952, Eisenhower
resigned from the army to campaign in the presidential election that year. Both major parties wanted
him to represent them in the presidential race, but in the end, Eisenhower ran for president as a
Republican, favoring their conservative values. His prestige as commanding general of the victorious
forces in Europe during World War II, no doubt, helped him into office. Becoming the

Lady Macbeth Internal Conflict Essay
In literature, internal conflict can be described as the struggle between two conflicting forces inside a
character s mind, the effect of which contributes to the entire work as a whole. In the great Tragedy of
Macbeth written by William Shakespeare, Lady Macbeth is forced not only to confront her desire for
power, but also the line where she crosses the threshold of her own morality. Does Lady Macbeth give
in to her own deep seeded ambition, at the expense of her internal conscience and well being? The
answer is yes, and in the process of doing so, many lives are lost, including her own, and that of her
husband and sovereign king. Throughout Macbeth, Lady Macbeth, in a dire conflict with herself, must
choose between murder, lies, and deceit, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In order to emphasize this conflict and the contrast between Lady Macbeth and other characters,
Shakespeare presents the reader or audience with many other characters placed in similar
circumstances. These people facing the same internal struggle as Lady Macbeth can be considered
character foils, the most obvious of which is Macbeth. Lady Macbeth begins this play being portrayed
with an unrealistic drive for power while Macbeth is driven, but indecisive and unsure. However,
toward the middle of the play, as Lady Macbeth begins her spiral of guilt, becoming weaker and
weaker, the opposite occurs for Macbeth. As she slowly slips into her insanity, Macbeth becomes
bolder, acting as her perfect inverse. But, this isn t the only foil in the play. Shakespeare contrasts the
actions of Lady Macbeth to Banquo, Macduff, and Duncan, all men who were presented with huge
opportunities for power, but didn t let their greed override their sense of right and wrong. It is here
where conflict helps define one of the major themes of Macbeth; when ambition is unchecked by
moral restraints, it has the ability to destroy everything and anything in its

Captain Blood
In the novel Captain Blood written by Rafael Sabatini, he tells us a real life experience of a slave
escaping, becoming a pirate and eventually the governor of the Jamaica. The novel is kind of like the
modern day film Django Unchained. The novel includes some fictionalized plot to keep it interesting
but for the most part it happened to someone, somewhere. Captain Blood, also known as Peter Blood,
seeks justice throughout the whole story even when he isn t supposed to. From an escaped slave to a
pirate and eventually a governor, Peter Blood seeks nothing more than justice throughout his whole
journey when most people would seek revenge.

Like England, Blood also didn t like the Spanish. Blood only attacked Spanish ships at first. The
Spanish were rich and it wasn t like he was stilling from the poor. Bloods situation reminds me of the
story Robin Hood. These two stories share a similar theme, stealing from the rich and giving to the
poor. Without Blood, what do you think his crew would be doing? They would do what pirates
normally do: kill, rape and steal. Blood is actually saving lives by just being the leader of his crew and
keeping them under control. Blood, as far as we know. has never killed for personal gain.
Captain Blood has all the justification he needs for the people that he has killed. One victim Blood
killed was a Spanish solider who was trying to rape a girl. I firmly believe Captain Blood did what
was necessary. I wouldn t want a person who tried to rape a girl to walk on this earth either. He was
helping a innocent girl who couldn t defend herself. Captain Blood did what was right and he took

Rhetorical Analysis Of Norman Rockwell s Breakfast Table...
Norman Rockwell was a 20th century American painter and much of his work is a reflection of the
American culture.
Breakfast Table Political Argument was painted in 1948 during the presidential elections in the United
States. It is a narrative art, whereby it uses visual image to convey some truths. Its purpose is to show
us reality by way of detail, by setting of scene and by representation of two characters in a certain
situation. Rockwell was known for painting idyllic scenes of ordinary American life depicting a
happily ever after scenario. However, Breakfast Table Political Argument among others that Rockwell

He is extremely angry which can be seen from the way he leans forward threateningly. His wife shows
more restraint and sits back, straight backed against her chair and stares at her husband sulkily. The
wife s stoic demeanour and with her arms defiantly crossed at the chest suggest an empowerment
which the man is uncomfortable with. Here we see two contrasting halves to the painting. On the left
we see anger, discord and noise in the man and the child at his feet. On the opposite side we see
calmness with the quiet dog and control with the restrained woman. There is a juvenile tendency to her
response. One can question whether her stance is a representation of the early response of women who
had recently been given the right to vote. The women have won, but as of yet they are not confident to
retaliate to men s verbal violence against their achievement. Could this be the indifference Virginia
Woolf refers to in her essay about women and nationalism? Are we to conclude that the man is
compelled to fight? He is after all displaying his sex characteristic which she does not share and
because he does not share her maternal instinct he is oblivious to the crying of the child at his feet and

Walden Tone
Walden Tone The tone of the excerpt from Walden is critical of the way the American population
lives. This is seen by Thoreau s comparisons of the American lifestyle to people or beings that do not
live logically, such as the greedy man who was turned into an ant by Zeus in one of Aesop s fables, or
the pygmies and the cranes that fought a war until the pygmy population was decimated. He states in
the excerpt that he wanted to . . . live so sturdily and Spartan like as to put to rout all that is not life,
(Thoreau, 2). This quotation emphasizes that the American people are not able to truly live life since
they tend to live in extravagant excess. Thoreau moves from American excess to the railroad swiftly.

Thoreau criticizes his fellow humans when he states that they have somewhat hastily concluded that it
is the chief end of man here to glorify God and enjoy him forever, (Thoreau, 2). The indicated
quotation shows that Thoreau believes that his fellow citizens have not actually taken the time to look
at all the facts of life in order to make an educated decision about what life is for. Thoreau intends to
tell the world what life is about since he believes that many humans are in a strange uncertainty about
it, whether it is of the devil or of God, (Thoreau, 2). If people are uncertain about who created life,
Thoreau suggests that they take away all the superficial aspects of it and examine its bare bones.
However, many people wish to live extravagantly and do not know who or what created life, nor do
they wish to give up their material possessions to find out. In the event that people did discern what
life was and who created it, Thoreau would not have to be critical of them as they would live the way
he did and they would not have anything that was not necessary for their survival, which would itself
make them happy. Thus, if humankind cared more about the basics of life rather than its extravagance,
Thoreau might not have felt the need to disapprove of

Singer Theme
Being raised by a rabbi in a large Jewish neighborhood, Isaac Bashevis Singer uses Jewish beliefs and
themes as the focal point in almost all of his works. As Singer retells many childhood stories in his
memoir In My Father s Court, the idea and motif of forgiveness is constantly used as he witnesses his
father perform many arbitrations. Singer also uses forgiveness as a central theme in his later adult
work, as seen in his short story A Crown of Feathers ; though it is evident through the story that his
view on forgiveness had changed as he grew older. While Singer has retained the theme of forgiveness
in his work, it has matured and darkened as a result of his life experiences. As the son of a rabbi,

inner turmoil present needed for forgiveness. This realization came with growing up in a conflict
ridden Europe that culminated in the Holocaust. Singer s perception of forgiveness evolved not only
due to simply growing up, but also possibly because of the Holocaust and its effect on other Jews, as
he was able to avoid it. Singer s relationship with forgiveness shows the complexity of both faith and

The target of a seaboard attack is to capture a marine vessel, steal the cargo aboard and take for an end
result of a profit. A recent joint study by the International Criminal Police Organization, United
Nations Office on Drugs and Crime and the World Bank says that from 2005 until the end of 2012,
179 ships were successfully hijacked off the Horn of Africa, primarily off the coast of Somalia.
(Poulton, 2013) With the number of attacks rising, companies that are offering security positions to
protect their goods and services travelling overseas are increasing in a parallel motion. The objective
of this document is to provide further details regarding the factors of anticipating pirate attacks
including location and economic risks of shipping overseas in highly active geographic regions,
strategies to prevent the damages and losses, alternative ideas other than researched facts and our
recommendations involving all topics above.
ANTICIPATION
In order to anticipate the risk of piracy attacks, companies must take a multi faceted research based
approach. The keys to effectively anticipating a piracy attack include variables such as: 1. The type of
goods being transported and 2. The location risk of the shipments. A major key factor that companies
must evaluate is the location risk, as certain locations account for nearly all of the piracy attacks that
occur globally. For example, Somalian piracy is unique in

The Film Glory By Edward Zwick

African American History
Glory Essay
The film Glory by Edward Zwick is one of the most well known films of all time. The film itself is
solely based upon the first formal unit of the Union Army during the American Civil War which
consist of all African American men. They were essentially the very first unit of United States Colored
Troops. They were formally known for their courageous attempts to and actions at Fort Wagner in
1863. The film is set in many different locations such as New York, Maryland, South Carolina and
Massachusetts. In each of these different locations events took place that shaped our history. For
example on November twenty seventh of 1862 Robert Shaw started to train soldiers. July eighteenth
1863 the Colonel Shaw and his troops attempted to take Fort Wagner, which didn t succeed.
The film has many characters that actually made a difference in history. Four major characters were
Colonel Robert Gould Shaw, Pvt. Trip, Sgt. Maj. John Rawlins and Cpl. Thomas Searles. Colonel
Shaw served as the Commander of the 54th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry. He also serves as great
leader to his troops. Pvt. Trip was a soldier of the 54th Regiment. Seen to other soldiers as a smart
mouth trouble maker because of his background. Sgt. Maj. John Rawlins started as a grave digger for
wars then moved up to a non commissioned officer. After volunteering for the 54th regiment he was

America s The Fourteenth Amendment
July 9, 1868, the day the Fourteenth Amendment was ratified and establish into the Constitution. On
this day, the Federal Government granted citizenship to all persons born or naturalized in the United
States. This all changed on October 3, 1965 when Lyndon Johnson passed the Hart Celler Immigration
Bill. When this bill passed, it allowed politicians to redefine the way the Fourteenth Amendment was
written. The obvious reason politicians would want to take advantage of this is for votes. If you have
illegal aliens coming into the country and politicians granting them citizenship, the aliens are more
than likely going to vote in favor of the politician that allowed them to accommodate with ease. This
not only transformed the law and Constitution, but America itself. In consequence of America letting
an undocumented amount of illegal aliens in, it has given a new blueprint to the country as a whole.
Immigrants who come to America no longer have to assimilate to American culture, civilization or
ethnicity. Instead, Americans have to homogenize themselves to the foreign customs of the substantial
amount of immigrants entering the nation. With all this all of this being taken into consideration, I
believe there are four things that America could do and should do to reclaim and solidify the American
way. These four are as follows: secure the border, e Verify ALL employment, strengthen the way jobs
and financial benefits are given to the public, and enforce the

Similarities Between Roman Empire And Han China
The past consist of multiple civilizations that share similarities as well as differences in a variety of
aspects. The term aspect includes many things such as geography, culture (music, art, and mythology),
militarism, and religion. The Roman Empire and Han Dynasty are two civilizations that both offer a
great variety of traditions that last even in some of today s culture. There is even evidence that they
did interact with one another. The Roman Empire and Han Dynasty could be related to civilizations
located Africa, Asia, Europe and the Americas. Are all civilizations equally valid?

The Roman Empire and the Han dynasty both were two very advanced societies. Though the Han
dynasty was founded slightly after the Roman Empire they both lasted approximately 400 years. The
Roman Empire consisted of two classes of citizens the Patricians and Plebeians. This civilization
consisted of a population of nearly fifty million people which was similar to the amount of people in
the Han dynasty. The two civilizations both were exposed to new religions, though they were engaged
in two different types of religions. One similarity between the Roman Empire and the Han Dynasty is
both had different levels of social class. At the top of the Roman Empire was the imperial family, then
the senators, equestrians, aristocrats, magistrates, merchants, soldiers, artisans, manual laborers, freed
slaves and slaves. The bottom of the Roman Empire s social class list was referred to as the

Different Governments And Investors Reaction
5. Governments and Investors Reaction
5.1 New Circuit Breaker rule
The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has approved a new, six month circuit breaker rule,
which is also known as limit up/ limit down. It stated that the exchanges would pause if the trading in
a stock declines more than 10 percent in any five minute interval. This reaction has changed previous
circuit breaker rule. According to Bob Pisani, the writer of Flash Crash 5 years later: What have we
learned? published on CNBC on May 5, 2015, claimed five years ago, each exchange had its own rule
that governed when individual stocks would be halted for sudden volatility. But this rule is confusing
and now it has been eliminated. The new consistent system wide circuit breakers rule is for all
individual stocks, and other revised market wide circuit breakers that will kick in when the S P 500
drops 7 percent or more during the trading day.
5.2 Erroneous trade breaking rules
The SEC has previously approved the Clearly Erroneous Pilot program, which identified new rule
following the flash crash outlining when an erroneous trade would be broken, said Deborah L. Jacobs,
the writer of Why we could easily have another flash crash. This erroneous trade rules clarified the
time and the price of completed trades, which will be reversed or broken by the exchanges and
FINRA. This purpose of the rule is to make a certainty to reduce the market panic likelihood and
capital flight if computer glitches.

Teenage Insubordination In Romeo And Juliet
Teenage Rebellion There is a lot of teenage insubordination in the film Freaky Friday and Romeo and
Juliet . I think that Freaky Friday has teenage insubordination because Anna disobeys her mom. That
is similar to the book Romeo and Juliet because Juliet disobeys her mom. Another reason is that their
mom s are controlling them. The last reason is that their mom s want them to be perfect. Also, The
Emoji Movie has a lot of similarities with the two movies. The main character Gene doesn t to be the
emoji that his parents are, so he tries to rebell and goes makes his own emoji. Teenage insubordination
is in both of the films. Anna and Juliet both disobey their mom by dating someone they love, but their

Serratia Marcescens Research Paper
I discovered that my unknown organism was Serratia marcescens. This organism is gram negative and
bacillus shaped. It is a member of the Enertobacteriae family. This organism appears a red blood like
color when it grows on media. It is anaerobic, but can also survive under aerobic conditions. There are
some strains of Serratia marcescens that are motile and have flagellum. It is able to produce the
enzymes chitinase, lipase, protease, nuclease, and serrawttin. It is a non endospore forming bacteria,
chromogenic, and does not ferment lactose. (Falkiner, 1997)
This bacterium can be found just about anywhere in the environment and thrives in the presence of
oxygen and without it. Majority of the time it is found on plants, animals, growing on food, in dead
organic material, soil, water, and in the air. Serratia marcescens is a mesophile and grows between 30°

Beverly Daniel Tatum Identity Analysis
Beverly Daniel Tatums, is an African American woman. She talks about self identity and dominant
and subordinate people and the groups in society. She goes in to depth about how people identify
themselves. She asked for her students to complete the sentence I am ____ many responses had to do
with race and ethnic group. She supports this by connecting it to how it s related to the dominate and
subordinate people/groups of society. She says That element of the identity is still taking for granted
by them that it goes without comment. It is taken for granted buy them because it s taking for granted
by the dominant culture.

Susan Fiske, she writes ... People gather information about those with power. So the people that see
that I have a good quality would try to listen a take note on it. Another way I m subordinate is that
when it comes to me and my mother she is the dominant and I m the subordinate. This because she is
the authoritative figure over me. Another example could be the role of a teacher and a student.
Furthermore another example of how I could be a dominate is when I m babysitting or looking after

Feminist Reading of Thomas Gray s Elegy (Eulogy) Written...
Feminist Reading of Thomas Gray s Elegy Written in a Country Churchyard
While Thomas Gray s Elegy Written in a Country Churchyard overtly deals with the distinction
between social class and the opportunity for greatness, the poem also contains a subtle yet strong
message against the dominant role of men over women in society. Gray s tone throughout the poem is
permeated with regret and a sense of something lost, voicing his opinions clearly against social class
prejudice. This emotional tone, when applied to the stereotypical roles of differing sexes discussed
throughout the poem, portrays the injustice of inequality between males and females.
Gray begins with his argument by explaining the roles of women and men, both in ... Show more

Gray describes the upper class male as having the opportunity for greatness. Without the limitations of
lower class men, these nobles can become another Hampden, Milton or Cromwell. In contrast, Gray
briefly describes upper class women as only being able to use their beauty or wealth to advantage,
perhaps in order to attract a good husband (line 34).
A further distinction is drawn between men and women when Gray speaks about positions of authority
and leadership. He expressed the the idea of men s superiority in line 47, (...that the rod of empire
might have swayed) using the phallic symbol of the rod to associate leadership and dominance with
men. Also, as Gray describes the positions of greatness denied to those of lower class, the examples he
uses (Hampden, Milton, and Cromwell) are all male. In fact, all aesthetic relations of power and
leadership in the poem are ascribed to men, further emulating their dominance in society.
Gray refutes this social depiction of sexual inequality by attributing femininity to superior beings or
qualities through the use of symbolism. In line 49, knowledge is symbolized as a woman, unwilling to
impart herself to a man, insinuating that women are the embodiment of knowledge, a far cry from the
situation he depicts of life. Gray also describes men as being controlled by the Muse, one of the nine
Goddesses who presided over song and the different kinds of

Paper Towel Absorbency Experiment
I believe that Walmart brand paper towels are just as absorbent as Bounty brand paper towels. All
paper towels are made from paper pulp that is woven to create a large sheet. Because all paper towels
are made from the same material I believe that the Walmart brand will absorb just as much liquid as
the other brands. I will prove my hypothesis through a scientific experiment comparing three brands
of paper towels. I chose three brands with three very different price points. Am I paying more money
per roll for a higher quality towel or are all paper towels made the same, therefore will absorb equal
amounts of liquid. I will put each paper towel brand through an absorbency test 4 times to get an
average amount of liquid absorbed. I am ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If the towels are different sizes trim them to the smallest size. 3. Fill a liquid measuring cup with
100mils of water. 4. Submerge the first brand of paper towel into water and start the stopwatch. At 20
seconds remove the paper towel from the water and squeeze the paper towel into the second liquid
measuring cup. 5. Record how much water was squeezed from the paper towel. 6. Repeat with each
brand of towel and record the data. Repeat each set of trials at least four times for consistency of data.
7. Find the average amount of liquid absorbed by each brand of towel and plot in a bar graph.
My experimental design is set up in such a way that anyone can replicate this experiment with the
same brands of towels and get the same results. My plan keeps the trials as fair as possible by cutting
the towels down to the same size so only the thickness of each towel comes into play. It is important to
conduct multiple trials to insure the data is consistent.
The Dependent variable for this study is the amount of water absorbed by the paper towels. This will
be measured in milliliters. The independent variable for this study is different brands of paper towels.
The controlled variables will be the amount of water the paper towels are given to absorb, the size of
the paper towels at the beginning of the experiment, and using the same measuring instruments in each
trial. I will reduce the threat to internal validity by conducting the experiments in the

Horniman Horticulture
Background
Horniman Horticulture is a whole sale nursery business that has been owned by Maggie and Bob for
three years. They have seen an increase in business and number of plants grown at the nursery and are
expecting demand to continue to grow. In 2005, the business s profit margin was expected to grow to
5.8% up from 3.1% in 2003. This projected growth seems accurate considering Maggie s conservative
approach with the companies cash balance. Handling the finances, Maggie dislikes debt financing
because of her fear of holding too much inventory and thus not being able to make interest payments.
Since the business relies on good weather conditions with some mature plants taking years to grow,
severe weather can destroy this inventory. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Past 2004, net working capital in 2005 was $97,200 which is 1.6x the net income of $60,800. If they
continue to increase their net working capital like they have in the past, the projected net working
capital for 2006 would be $235,900 which would cause them a negative cash balance of 193,000.
When you look at the balance sheet in Exhibit B we can see that the current assets have increased 19%
and total assets increased 14.4%. This is due primarily to the increase in inventory and accounts
receivable. In the four years from 2002 to 2005 inventory has increased 8.7% and accounts receivable
has increased 16.4%. Due to this, the cash balance has decreased from $120,100 all the way down to
$9,400. In addition in 2005, the cash balance went below their comfort level of $10,000 down to
$9,400. This is not meeting their expectation of their 8% minimum of total revenue target.
Financial Ratio Analysis Even though their business was growing significantly, and they were
experiencing a steady increase in revenues, they were seeing a huge decrease in their cash. The reason
for this is because of their recent change to an increase in business from small nurseries. By looking at
the financial ratios, even though they are increasing in sales, you can tell that they are relaxed on their
accounts receivable and credit terms. Each year it takes them longer to collect their money. This is due
to the fact that the carrying cost of inventory is harder for the

Descriptive Essay On Funerals
Helena Iero
Loving daughter and sister
1977 2004
27 yrs old
So long and goodnight. I heard Gerard sing loud and proud. It was my funeral and I m laying with my
eyes closed, not able to see my best friends. I could feel Gerard s tears without even looking at him.
Funerals are sad but I could never deal with having my best friend like this. The only thing I never got
about funerals is why they dress you up to be pretty. I mean, you re dead for Pete s sake. Nobody in
heaven or hell is going to judge you on what you re wearing, well I hope not. The dress I wore was
pretty though. It had red and black lacing on it. I don t know who picked it out but this dress was from
the party that I first met the boys at and that was pretty fun.

It was a very sunny October morning, but it wasn t any morning, it was Halloween morning. It was
also graduation morning. Why on Halloween? Well, I don t know. Anyways, I put on a white dress
that reached my knees and put on black flats. I braided my dark hair and threw on a necklace. The
necklace was one my mother gave me when I was little before she passed. I looked in the mirror and I
gripped the charm on the necklace. My brother then walked into the room and placed a calming hand
on my shoulder. I looked at him through the mirror and smiled.
Mother and father would be proud if they were here, My brother said. I sighed.
Yeah, but I m glad I m getting taken care of by my big brother, I turned around and gave my brother

An Essay On The Blue Mosque
The Blue Mosque, or as its mother language call it The Sultan Ahmet Camii, is an amazing and an
interesting Islamic piece of architect located in Istanbul, Turkey. The blue tiles of the inside, adorning
its interior walls, are the main reason why people call it the blue mosque. I found it interesting to write
about such a historical piece of architecture that was built during the rule of Ahmed I (or the first) in
the early 17th century. A tomb of the founder, like many other mosques, a hospice and a madrasa as
well, all together were found and contained under the name of Külliye in the mosque. The mosque s
function is still a mosque, as it was the first imperial mosque for more than forty years in that time,
and was never converted into anything, not a church nor a museum. Non Muslims are not to enter
during the daily five prayers for half an hour or so, however, it is a popular tourist attraction in
Istanbul. The sultan at that time, Sultan Ahmed the First, was one of the youngest sultans. At the age
of 14, he decided to build a big ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

An Age Of Informational Starvation
We are living in an age of informational starvation. People are seeking for something that is attractive
and glowing to see on their screens. Advertisers found that possibility as an opportunity to shine and
they had created many different works that promote their products. However, it is possible to stop on
one commercial, which is called Cristiano Ronaldo vs. Rafael Nadal, which is the commercial by
Nike, to understand the way they appeal to the audience. First of all, like any other piece of art, the
narrator creates the specific theme that addresses the human eye. That theme provokes a specific
response in human mind, and their thinking provokes the profit if the advertiser was successful.
However, the ethos of the current commercial is obvious Nike Company is one of the leading
industries that deliver sports equipment. Nike represents one of the main players in the sports
equipment market. They create rules, and they create trends. Their credibility is outstanding due to the
fact that they are constantly doing different market examinations that concentrate on trend analysis.
That is their profit that is why their researches show them evident details about marketing trends and
they have enough money to adjust. Speaking of the logos of the article, it is important to mention that
this commercial used the paradox as the rhetorical device so that it is complex to talk about the logical
flow of arguments that they present. Their paradoxical choice figures, their game

Christian Writings Of Augustine And Haltigar Of Cambrai One
As a text written in the early middle ages, the Canon Episcopi by Regino of Prüm was revolutionary in
the fact that it exemplified a growing skepticism for magic within the Christian community, and most
importantly, it served as a strict call to arms for church officials to identify and eliminate practices of
magic within parish communities. As a major theological text in the time where Christianity is finally
solidifying doctrine, the Canon Episcopi should both draw upon existing ideas of its predecessors and
shape the theological works of its successors. While the works of other theological minds show
evidence of a common theme or influence, there is still extreme variability and sometimes even direct
opposition to Regino s themes. While ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Haltigar not only fits the addressee of the warning, as an Archbishop, he is doing what the warning
exactly asks: laboring to uproot the art of sorcery from his parishes. Within The Roman Pentitential,
Haltigar provides a guideline for the priests and clergy on how to identify such practices and beliefs,
and the fit penance or punishment for them. Through the lens of Augustine and Haltigar s work, we
can see that the Canon Episcopi seems to be drawing off of much earlier traditions and themes within
Christian theology and literature.
While there are definite parallels between the texts of the early Christian period and the Early
Medieval period, where the Canon Episcopi originates, ultimately the time difference itself is the
ultimate division line for the themes within the text. Augustine, while stating the absurdity of some
magical, ultimately argues that demons give these delusions to diviners and the result is that they do
tell past and future things, which happen exactly as predicted, unlike Regino who dismisses the reality
of delusional women actually rid[ing] upon beasts with Diana (Augustine 46 and Regino of Prüm 62).
Haltigar too, provides no indication that he denies any of the practices that he mentions within his
penitential. While there is a slight trace of skepticism within Augustine s writing, Regino provides the
fully developed voice of this skepticism later on. Furthermore, both

  • 2. Google Express And Amazon Prime Executive Summary: Google Express and Amazon Prime are currently competing in the e commerce sector, particularly with regard to same day delivery. Prime is an established brand with over ten years of experience, whereas Express has only been around for about a year and a half. Another major difference is that Amazon operates and distributes from its own warehouses, whereas Google operates like a high end postal service, shuttling packages from local retailer to customer. There are several advantages and disadvantages that can result from supply chain processes of each of these companies. Due to its experience, Amazon has been able to build distinctive infrastructure and wealth of information on customer wants and needs that is hard to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Amazon and Google Express are two such retailers who are concentrating especially on these functions by acquiring related technology firms and by engaging in R D. In the future, the e retailer who offers the fastest delivery will likely be the front runner (Keifer). The competition is intense from e grocers like Ocado, to clothing retailers like Next and traditional mail services like FedEx. The latest trend in the industry, after offering maximum variety and flexible payment options, is competition for same day delivery. Companies like eBay, Walmart, Amazon and Google Express have all started efforts to try and offer same day delivery. The key to offering same day delivery is to have products stored near the potential customer. In the following sections we will explain the supply chains of Amazon and Google Express and analyze the advantages and disadvantages of their respective business model/supply chain. Amazon Introduction: Amazon was launched in 2005 with its headquarters in Seattle. It initially offered $79/year for two day delivery nationwide for unlimited orders. • 3. A Historical Context That Changed Perspectives A. Historical context that changed perspectives. Before 1970 s, many criminological theories focused on the offender and motivations that leads to criminal acts. Cohen and Felson (1979) proposed a different aspect where they shifted the focus from offender and motivations to the criminal act itself and opportunities behind it (Andrews, 2004). One important aspect is that lifestyle theory by Hindelang back in 1978 and the routine activities theory by Cohen and Felson (1979) are merely the same. Routine activities could be seen as an expansion of lifestyle theory or as many authors do, as different versions of the same perspective. That shift of focus had two different explanations of crime along with it. First are historical explanations, which describe crimes through past events, and the second are situational explanations, which describe crimes incidents through circumstances. This approach utilized to describe group differences when it comes to victimization and trends in crime rates. From sociologists point of view, routine activities theory classifies normal activities and illegal ones and explains some odd associations between beneficial social change and increasing crime rate. It is important to know that routine activities theory is against the typical assumption that crime start from bad things (Osgood, Wilson, O Malley, Bachman, Johnston, 1996). B. Stages of theory development overtime. As previously discussed, Cohen and Felson (1979) proposed routine activities ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Wet Rub Vs Grill There are two traditional methods for seasoning meat destined for the grill: wet and dry. Choosing one over the other places you on one side of yet another barbecue debate. As with most culinary debates, both sides have some strong arguments as we will see when we compare these two methods of flavoring meat. What is the difference between a dry rub and a wet rub? As you might expect, dry rubs have only dry ingredients. They will typically include powdered spices and sometimes dry herbs along with salt and sugar. The idea is to create a crust for the meat that will flavor it without making it too moist. You should apply the rub liberally to the outside of the meat and massage it in. The longer you let it sit on the surface of the meat, the more flavor it will impart to the meat. Because all of the spices stay on the surface, a dry rub is a great way to add a controlled amount of flavor without overpowering the natural flavor of the meat. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The big difference is that they are placed into a liquid medium like oil or vinegar. You want a wet rub to be thin enough to easily coat a piece of meat but thick enough to stick to it. Like dry rubs, wet rubs should be applied heavily to the surface of the meat. Is one easier or better to use when grilling? Dry rubs are easier to apply and generally less messy to work with than wet rubs. In addition, a dry rub will not drip onto your coals and cause flare ups or lower their temperature. Wet rubs have advantages in that meat should be more tender and flavorful, especially if you let it sit in the marinade for at least 24 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Mechanical Response And Failure Behavior Of A Defective... Molecular Simulations on the Mechanical Response and Failure Behavior of a Defective Graphene: Cases of Stone Thrower Wales (5 7 7 5) defects G. Rajasekaran Rajesh Kumar and Avinash Parashar Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee 247667, India ABSTRACT Structural defects which are inevitable during the production, chemical and heat treatment processes can affect the mechanical properties of graphene and also defects can be deliberately introduced in graphene by ion beam irradiation to get required properties for specific applications. So, understanding the effect of defects on mechanical properties and failure behaviours of a graphene sheet is important for its applications. In this work, the effects of linear and angular orientation of different types of Stone Thrower Wales (STW 1 and STW 2) defects on the mechanical properties and failure behaviour of graphene membrane have been investigated in the frame of molecular dynamics. This work discussing about tuneable mechanical properties by amending the linear orientation of STW 1 and STW 2 defects at different angles in zigzag direction and armchair direction respectively. The results obtained from the present work may provide the insights in tailoring the mechanical properties by preparing defects in graphene, and give a full picture for the applications of graphene with defects in flexible electronics and nanodevices. • 6. The Aim of Man Essays Khouanchay (Kay) Krueger Mr. Matthew Adams English 150 SB Annotation 4 October 9, 2010 Aristotle The Aim of Man Aristotle starts off in his essay explaining the definitions of Good, Primacy of Statecraft and the study of Ethics. He defines good as where all things are to be aimed, for example health. He then defines Statecraft as citizens of a state, a country, and of the world need to do good for their own good but more importantly for the good of the state. He also characterizes various types of good. Finally, the definition on study of Ethics. This talks about the pure excellence of justice that involves the disagreements and agreements of uncertainty and certainty. Aristotle also talks about happiness and where a certain ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He uses the metaphor of a chameleon to illustrate this. We are all different and when you think of a chameleon, you first think of colors and personalities. In his example as a visual we can say that people s happiness ranges so far and in between. My response to the topic about the aim of man is that I agree that we all strive to achieve the very same goal as Aristotle points out; which is happiness. I think that his essay captures his definition of happiness well by repeating it several times throughout. This is effective to me because it is a repetitive way to enforce the topic. I agree with Aristotle especially that one does not know happiness until they can make the discernment. For the same reason he stated that a child can not be happy. I like his definition to happiness because it isn t just characterized by good fortunes but it is much deeper in that it derives from the soul with perfect righteousness. I can identify a strength of the essay is that he doesn t get off the topic often. He touches about wealth and how that isn t the true source of happiness but quickly closes on the subject and goes back to the good that we are seeking. Another example where he does this was towards the end, he briefly talks about sleep is an inactivity of the soul. He clearly dismisses the subject by pointing out its irrelevance. This makes the essay easier to follow. Another strength that I notice was he used the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Tsarina Alexandra Romanokov s Failure Of Russia Tsarina Alexandra Romanov is accused of having a serious helping hand in the ultimate demise of Russia and eventual revolution that occurred. While many of the Tsarina s actions did contribute to the eventual failures in Russia, Tsarina Alexandra was dealing with much more than just the political nature of Russia during the time of World War I. The Tsarina found herself struggling with finding a balance between the Russian distrust due to her lineage, her struggle to produce an heir, and finding her place with Tsar Nicholas II away at the front. In a time when the Romanov family was the center of distrust, the German princess found herself conflicted between her strong religious beliefs, Russian patriotism, and her desire to protect Russian aristocracy in order to provide her son a future as Tsar. With all these conflicting allegiances in her life, Tsarina Alexandra found herself trying to establish her role as a leader of the Russian people, a mother, and a wife while also trying to balance her duty as a Tsarina in the scope of family and war. Tsarina Alexandra Romonov was born in Darmstadt, Germany as Alix of Hesse and by Rhine to the second daughter of Queen Victoria. This connection to both the Queen of England and Germany was problematic for the Tsarina because she found herself trying to be Russian, German, and English which ultimately produced distrust between her and the Russian people. New families drove the requirement for lodging and William Levitt was the first to jump on this opportunity. He drove the increase of rural areas with his reasonably priced mass created homes. From 1946 to 1958 GNP more than doubled. The creation of interstate mega highways, freeways and the ensuring of home advances for suburban one family homes helped boost industries. With openings for the opportunity to receive an education given by the G.I. Bill and the advancements in various industries, a road was paved to economic prosperity. However, this prosperity was not shared with all as millions were left poor. Farmers, African Americans and other minorities existed at levels beneath those necessary for human decency, and were often left without adequate housing and education and medical care, which left them lacking the civil right of equal opportunity. The politics of the 1950 s included the start of our Cold War with Russia, the Korean War, McCarthyism and the domestic civil rights movement. After World War II, Russia and the United States developed as the world s new superpowers. Binary codes which are representations of numerical numbers were used to process images, sounds, text and graphic. In digital computers, there are ones and zeros that represents the electrical on and off states and endless combinations of those to process any input. Moving on, the development of computer can be assessed from two perspectives. One perspective would be the invention of hardware components over time like vacuum tubes, transistors, integrated circuits and microprocessors that can be referred to as a generation of change. In the other hand, another perspective would be how user friendly were the computers over a period of time. In the 1950s the computers were almost impossible to use except by very patient geniuses. Next in the 1960s and 1970s, it could only be programmable by highly trained people. Lastly, from the 1980s till present time the computers are now smaller cheaper and useable by just about anyone. • 11. Lady Macbeth Internal Conflict Essay In literature, internal conflict can be described as the struggle between two conflicting forces inside a character s mind, the effect of which contributes to the entire work as a whole. In the great Tragedy of Macbeth written by William Shakespeare, Lady Macbeth is forced not only to confront her desire for power, but also the line where she crosses the threshold of her own morality. Does Lady Macbeth give in to her own deep seeded ambition, at the expense of her internal conscience and well being? The answer is yes, and in the process of doing so, many lives are lost, including her own, and that of her husband and sovereign king. In order to emphasize this conflict and the contrast between Lady Macbeth and other characters, Shakespeare presents the reader or audience with many other characters placed in similar circumstances. These people facing the same internal struggle as Lady Macbeth can be considered character foils, the most obvious of which is Macbeth. Lady Macbeth begins this play being portrayed with an unrealistic drive for power while Macbeth is driven, but indecisive and unsure. However, toward the middle of the play, as Lady Macbeth begins her spiral of guilt, becoming weaker and weaker, the opposite occurs for Macbeth. As she slowly slips into her insanity, Macbeth becomes bolder, acting as her perfect inverse. But, this isn t the only foil in the play. Shakespeare contrasts the actions of Lady Macbeth to Banquo, Macduff, and Duncan, all men who were presented with huge opportunities for power, but didn t let their greed override their sense of right and wrong. It is here where conflict helps define one of the major themes of Macbeth; when ambition is unchecked by moral restraints, it has the ability to destroy everything and anything in its ... On the left we see anger, discord and noise in the man and the child at his feet. On the opposite side we see calmness with the quiet dog and control with the restrained woman. He states in the excerpt that he wanted to . . . live so sturdily and Spartan like as to put to rout all that is not life, (Thoreau, 2). Thoreau criticizes his fellow humans when he states that they have somewhat hastily concluded that it is the chief end of man here to glorify God and enjoy him forever, (Thoreau, 2). The indicated quotation shows that Thoreau believes that his fellow citizens have not actually taken the time to look at all the facts of life in order to make an educated decision about what life is for. Thoreau intends to tell the world what life is about since he believes that many humans are in a strange uncertainty about it, whether it is of the devil or of God, (Thoreau, 2). If people are uncertain about who created life, Thoreau suggests that they take away all the superficial aspects of it and examine its bare bones. However, many people wish to live extravagantly and do not know who or what created life, nor do they wish to give up their material possessions to find out. In the event that people did discern what life was and who created it, Thoreau would not have to be critical of them as they would live the way he did and they would not have anything that was not necessary for their survival, which would itself make them happy. On this day, the Federal Government granted citizenship to all persons born or naturalized in the United States. This all changed on October 3, 1965 when Lyndon Johnson passed the Hart Celler Immigration Bill. When this bill passed, it allowed politicians to redefine the way the Fourteenth Amendment was written. The obvious reason politicians would want to take advantage of this is for votes. If you have illegal aliens coming into the country and politicians granting them citizenship, the aliens are more than likely going to vote in favor of the politician that allowed them to accommodate with ease. This not only transformed the law and Constitution, but America itself. In consequence of America letting an undocumented amount of illegal aliens in, it has given a new blueprint to the country as a whole. At 20 seconds remove the paper towel from the water and squeeze the paper towel into the second liquid measuring cup. 5. Record how much water was squeezed from the paper towel. 6. Repeat with each brand of towel and record the data. Repeat each set of trials at least four times for consistency of data. 7. Find the average amount of liquid absorbed by each brand of towel and plot in a bar graph. My experimental design is set up in such a way that anyone can replicate this experiment with the same brands of towels and get the same results. My plan keeps the trials as fair as possible by cutting the towels down to the same size so only the thickness of each towel comes into play. It is important to conduct multiple trials to insure the data is consistent. The Dependent variable for this study is the amount of water absorbed by the paper towels. This will be measured in milliliters. The independent variable for this study is different brands of paper towels. The controlled variables will be the amount of water the paper towels are given to absorb, the size of the paper towels at the beginning of the experiment, and using the same measuring instruments in each trial. I will reduce the threat to internal validity by conducting the experiments in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. Horniman Horticulture Background Horniman Horticulture is a whole sale nursery business that has been owned by Maggie and Bob for three years. They have seen an increase in business and number of plants grown at the nursery and are expecting demand to continue to grow. In 2005, the business s profit margin was expected to grow to 5.8% up from 3.1% in 2003. This projected growth seems accurate considering Maggie s conservative approach with the companies cash balance. Handling the finances, Maggie dislikes debt financing because of her fear of holding too much inventory and thus not being able to make interest payments. Since the business relies on good weather conditions with some mature plants taking years to grow, severe weather can destroy this inventory. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Past 2004, net working capital in 2005 was $97,200 which is 1.6x the net income of $60,800. If they continue to increase their net working capital like they have in the past, the projected net working capital for 2006 would be $235,900 which would cause them a negative cash balance of 193,000. When you look at the balance sheet in Exhibit B we can see that the current assets have increased 19% and total assets increased 14.4%. This is due primarily to the increase in inventory and accounts receivable. In the four years from 2002 to 2005 inventory has increased 8.7% and accounts receivable has increased 16.4%. Due to this, the cash balance has decreased from $120,100 all the way down to $9,400. In addition in 2005, the cash balance went below their comfort level of $10,000 down to $9,400. This is not meeting their expectation of their 8% minimum of total revenue target. Financial Ratio Analysis Even though their business was growing significantly, and they were experiencing a steady increase in revenues, they were seeing a huge decrease in their cash. The reason for this is because of their recent change to an increase in business from small nurseries. By looking at the financial ratios, even though they are increasing in sales, you can tell that they are relaxed on their accounts receivable and credit terms. Each year it takes them longer to collect their money. This is due to the fact that the carrying cost of inventory is harder for the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. Descriptive Essay On Funerals Helena Iero Loving daughter and sister 1977 2004 27 yrs old So long and goodnight. I heard Gerard sing loud and proud. It was my funeral and I m laying with my eyes closed, not able to see my best friends. I could feel Gerard s tears without even looking at him. Funerals are sad but I could never deal with having my best friend like this. The only thing I never got about funerals is why they dress you up to be pretty. I mean, you re dead for Pete s sake. Nobody in heaven or hell is going to judge you on what you re wearing, well I hope not. The dress I wore was pretty though. It had red and black lacing on it. I don t know who picked it out but this dress was from the party that I first met the boys at and that was pretty fun. 11 yrs earlier It was a very sunny October morning, but it wasn t any morning, it was Halloween morning. It was also graduation morning. Why on Halloween? Well, I don t know. Anyways, I put on a white dress that reached my knees and put on black flats. I braided my dark hair and threw on a necklace. The necklace was one my mother gave me when I was little before she passed. I looked in the mirror and I gripped the charm on the necklace. My brother then walked into the room and placed a calming hand on my shoulder. I looked at him through the mirror and smiled. Mother and father would be proud if they were here, My brother said. I sighed. Yeah, but I m glad I m getting taken care of by my big brother, I turned around and gave my brother ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. An Essay On The Blue Mosque The Blue Mosque, or as its mother language call it The Sultan Ahmet Camii, is an amazing and an interesting Islamic piece of architect located in Istanbul, Turkey. The blue tiles of the inside, adorning its interior walls, are the main reason why people call it the blue mosque. I found it interesting to write about such a historical piece of architecture that was built during the rule of Ahmed I (or the first) in the early 17th century. A tomb of the founder, like many other mosques, a hospice and a madrasa as well, all together were found and contained under the name of Külliye in the mosque. The mosque s function is still a mosque, as it was the first imperial mosque for more than forty years in that time, and was never converted into anything, not a church nor a museum. Non Muslims are not to enter during the daily five prayers for half an hour or so, however, it is a popular tourist attraction in Istanbul. The sultan at that time, Sultan Ahmed the First, was one of the youngest sultans. At the age of 14, he decided to build a big ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The mosque itself used to be part of a great known complex, including a covered bazaar, schools, public kitchens, a caravanserai, Turkish baths, a hospital and the mausoleum of Sultan Ahmed himself. • 34. An Age Of Informational Starvation We are living in an age of informational starvation. People are seeking for something that is attractive and glowing to see on their screens. Advertisers found that possibility as an opportunity to shine and they had created many different works that promote their products. However, it is possible to stop on one commercial, which is called Cristiano Ronaldo vs. Rafael Nadal, which is the commercial by Nike, to understand the way they appeal to the audience. First of all, like any other piece of art, the narrator creates the specific theme that addresses the human eye. That theme provokes a specific response in human mind, and their thinking provokes the profit if the advertiser was successful. However, the ethos of the current commercial is obvious Nike Company is one of the leading industries that deliver sports equipment. Nike represents one of the main players in the sports equipment market. They create rules, and they create trends. Their credibility is outstanding due to the fact that they are constantly doing different market examinations that concentrate on trend analysis. That is their profit that is why their researches show them evident details about marketing trends and they have enough money to adjust. Speaking of the logos of the article, it is important to mention that this commercial used the paradox as the rhetorical device so that it is complex to talk about the logical flow of arguments that they present. • 35. Christian Writings Of Augustine And Haltigar Of Cambrai One As a text written in the early middle ages, the Canon Episcopi by Regino of Prüm was revolutionary in the fact that it exemplified a growing skepticism for magic within the Christian community, and most importantly, it served as a strict call to arms for church officials to identify and eliminate practices of magic within parish communities. As a major theological text in the time where Christianity is finally solidifying doctrine, the Canon Episcopi should both draw upon existing ideas of its predecessors and shape the theological works of its successors. While the works of other theological minds show evidence of a common theme or influence, there is still extreme variability and sometimes even direct opposition to Regino s themes. While ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Haltigar not only fits the addressee of the warning, as an Archbishop, he is doing what the warning exactly asks: laboring to uproot the art of sorcery from his parishes. Within The Roman Pentitential, Haltigar provides a guideline for the priests and clergy on how to identify such practices and beliefs, and the fit penance or punishment for them. Through the lens of Augustine and Haltigar s work, we can see that the Canon Episcopi seems to be drawing off of much earlier traditions and themes within Christian theology and literature. While there are definite parallels between the texts of the early Christian period and the Early Medieval period, where the Canon Episcopi originates, ultimately the time difference itself is the ultimate division line for the themes within the text. Augustine, while stating the absurdity of some magical, ultimately argues that demons give these delusions to diviners and the result is that they do tell past and future things, which happen exactly as predicted, unlike Regino who dismisses the reality of delusional women actually rid[ing] upon beasts with Diana (Augustine 46 and Regino of Prüm 62). Haltigar too, provides no indication that he denies any of the practices that he mentions within his penitential. While there is a slight trace of skepticism within Augustine s writing, Regino provides the fully developed voice of this skepticism later on. Furthermore, both ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
