For some people don’t write the correct things. They might use a pen to create a list, to do lists but what they don’t do is they don’t write to think. This sounds peculiar to some people. I’m just going to tell you giving an example of how I write to think. When I do my consulting calls on the phone, on Skype, what I do is I get my pen, a pile of paper and I continually make notes. I of ten have to pause to make notes and say, “sorry, I’m just making a note here”. I am writing to think. The process of listening to somebody, writing down what I hear onto paper and then reading what I’ve written down back into my brain again helps me think better. I think that’s the process because I’m listening with my ears but also with my eyes. What that allows me to do is allows me to take inf ormation in, get inf ormation by asking, get back in again, then I see with dif f erent points of view. So writing to think is something that I recommend you try. When you’re trying to work out a problem, grab a piece of paper and just write stuf f . Don’t worry about what you’re writing, don’t worry about if it’s correct or not, just literally have a thought write it down, have a thought write it down and then read things back and they will go back in.
