Attention Grabbing Strategies to Make the Most Out of
Your Signage
If you’re looking at purchasing signage, chances are you’re hoping to amp up your marketing strategy
and grab the attention of potential customers. But how?
Check out these 7 tips that are sure to grab your customers’ eye and turn your signage into an effective
marketing tool.
1. Interact with your audience.
Customers like to feel welcomed to the places at they shop at – one of the best ways to do this is to
interact with them. That doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to go out and meet every one of your
customers. Instead, let your signage do the job for you.
Utilizing calls to action or asking your customers to engage in social media such as online giveaways,
web promotions, or downloading your app is a great way to grab their attention and get them involved
with your company.
2. Give your signage a pop of color.
It’s almost impossible to ignore a color that’s vastly different from those around it, so keep in mind the
environment that your sign is going to be placed in when coming up with the design. As a general rule,
you should stick to no more than 3 or 4 colors that go along with your company’s theme or brand style.
3. Keep it short and sweet.
Although you could probably say a million great things about your business, putting everything you can
think of on a sign isn’t a good attention grabber – rather, it’s often a deterrent for many viewers. Instead
of bombarding your audience with paragraphs of lengthy description, keep it short with simple
catchphrases or one to two word descriptions that accurately depict your company’s attitude and
product.
4. Utilize your space.
There’s a fine line between too empty and too crowded. Be sure to fill up the space on your signage with
imagery and text, but don’t be afraid of a little blank space peeking through either.
Know how to prioritize what information you want your customers to see, and scale it appropriately on
your signage.
People respond much more favorably to images than they do to lengthy texts – graphics are relatable, as
the human brain automatically draws connections between images and feelings or ideas.
6. Go mobile.
The best way to grab more attention is to be in more places! Utilize vehicle graphics as your next form of
advertisement. Not only are they irresistible eye candy, but they also broaden your customer base by
being seen all over town, and actually generate more business than any other type of signage.
7. Give the right impression.
When designing your sign, be sure to keep in mind who your customers are, and what types of attitudes
they are most likely going to have. For example, humor is a great way to grab attention, but make sure
its appropriate for your audience, and that it will reflect the attitude of your business.
