Ramen and dumpling bar Umami set out to drive awareness and anticipation
for the upcoming release of their weekend brunch menu. The restaurant also
looked to increase their Facebook fan base, collect fan data for their
e-marketing efforts, and increase overall restaurant awareness.

TARGETED FACEBOOK AD
After running Facebook ad campaigns in the past
with little success, Umami looked to Shoutlet to
help optimize their Weekend Brunch campaign
with a cost-effective Facebook ad buy.
The team exported their Shoutlet Profiles™ data,
which included a segment of ideal fans that have
actively engaged on Facebook, including their
demographic and interest data. The team then
uploaded the segment into Facebook’s ad platform
to create a lookalike audience to target a similar
group of people based on their customer data.
The ad, which ran for four days, led
to a customized Shoutlet sign-up
form on Umami’s website, with the
new customer data automatically
flowing back into Shoutlet Profiles.

Establishing the right target audience was made
possible with Umami’s Shoutlet Profiles data. Shoutlet
Profiles gave Umami insight into their customer base
through data. By applying that intelligence, it allowed
their Facebook ad to target a group of consumers
most likely to convert on clicks, try the restaurant,
and ultimately drive new revenue.
Using an Everywhere Page built in Shoutlet Social
Canvas™, the team also gathered customer data
including name, email, and insight into what fans
would like to see on the brunch menu.
RESULTS
SHOUTLET PROFILES BOOST ENGAGEMENT AND CONVERSION
In only four days, the targeted campaign helped Umami
grow their Facebook fan base, gather new contacts for
their email database, and increase restaurant awareness.
In the week following the targeted Facebook ad, the
Umami team noticed a 112% increase in traffic to the
website and a 40% increase in restaurant revenue.
In this and other past campaigns, Umami has noticed
a direct correlation between website traffic and
restaurant revenue.
In addition, Umami analyzed the results and discovered
increased engagement compared to similar past
campaigns not optimized with Shoutlet Profiles data.
The Weekend Brunch ad saw a 40% increase in click
through rate, 90% increase in email sign up conversion,
and an overall 100% increase in click conversion
when compared to average results from similar
past campaigns.
Umami also learned fans are most interested in seeing
breakfast buns and egg dishes on the brunch menu.
Thanks to feedback, Umami has plans in the works
to include these customer-requested items.
