Vaikundarajan’s Office Premises
The domestic market of India for heavy minerals is quite
young and has tremendous growth potential. VV Minerals is
India’s largest private heavy mineral mining company and
accounts for the largest export of such minerals like ilmenite,
zircon, garnet and rutile. As a matter of fact VV Minerals was
compellingly dragged into a 96k crore scam which has not
been committed by them. VV Mineral, Vaikundarajan was
alleged of carrying out illegal mining activities and illegal
export of thorium. As investigations started into this matter S.
Vaikundarajan’s office premises were searched for any
evidence to be found.
Some news stories suggest that the police searched for
Subbiah Vaikundarajan’s factory and office premises at
Keeraikaaranthattu near Thisaiyanvilai in connection to this
case and that the Revenue Department officials of
Kanyakumari district seized six sand- laden Lorries at
Meignanapuram. The news story also says that after
examining the material they found that the sand contained
‘considerable quantity’ of thorium that is not permissible to
export out of the country.
2. However, these are just believed to be rumours. As later all
these allegations against VV Minerals, S.Vaikundarajan were
proven false. Under the Atomic Energy Commission Act,
export of thorium in any form is prohibited and also a
punishable offence. Being aware of all such Government
regulations and also working under constant scrutiny of the
Government officials does not permit VV Minerals to commit
such a crime.
S. Vaikundarajan has got into this trade after attaining all
statutory clearances and other permissions and grants. VV
Minerals, India, though a private heavy mineral mining
company operates directly under the government’s vigil which
is reason enough for it to practice all fair means of trade. At
the time of the police enquiry also there was no evidence to
be found and therefore, they had to return empty handed
from the office premises of S. Vaikundarajan.
When the officials filed a case against S. Vaikundarajan for the
illegally quarrying the thorium rich sand, because he was
innocent he challenged it in the Madurai bench of the Madras
High Court. As there were no substantial proof of S.
Vaikundarajan being guilty of carrying out illegal heavy
mineral mining he was also given a clean chit from the courts.
It is therefore very evident that VV Minerals, India were not
involved into any wrong doings as the court has pronounced
their innocence. They have won many awards being the
3. highest exporter of heavy minerals and are highly regarded in
the entire industry. S. Vaikundarajan also known for carrying
out its social responsibilities well and always doing good for
the environment just cannot get into such scams as he has to
live up to the reputation that has been created over the years.
It is takes a lot of time and effort to build such a name in the
society and no one is foolish enough to take up illegal activity
and ruin all of it at once.
