Cone Beam CT clearly shows the anatomy where the periapical X-ray didn’t.
IOPA SHOWS A LESION POSSIBLY ASSOCIATED WITH THE M/B ROOT OF THIS UPPER MOLAR BUT THE CT CLEARLY SHOWS that it’s the palatal root that is fractured. The right side iopa shows no bone obvious loss. Here comes the ct showing obvious bone loss consistent with vertical fracture over 7 mm below the crest of bone.
This case illustrates the value of Cone Beam CT in evaluating the location and extent of resorptive defects in teeth. The Periapical X-ray hints at the lesion but the CBCT clearly shows the location and size.
