1. ARTWORK ON THE WALLS
Okay, so I am kind of cheating on this blog a bit. I happen to be at my friend’s place in LA while doing my homework this week and
he has the BEST artwork on his walls so I am going to use his house, of course. The only artwork I really have on my walls are photos
which is great, but using his house, as you will see, will be much more interesting! He travels a lot and has collected some really cool
artwork from his last two trips.
This first one is from an artist school in Columbia. He recently got to travel there with a friend that is allowed to bring visitors over to
Columbia. They visited an art school and he had to literally sneak around to buy this piece from a very talented up and coming artist.
It is a really large painting with the focus on a person’s face, mostly their eyes. A lot of paint is used in this one, there is texture coming
off the painting from the
amount of paint that is
layered within the
painting. In real life,
this painting is very
warm...the photo turned
out showing more of
the blues within the
image.
2. This piece is from his recent travels to Chile for a friends wedding. This photo does not do it justice at all. This is a painting
as well but it is done on like a piece of leather or something. There is a ton of tecture to it as well. It is almost like they painted
pieces of the color on another type of medium and then stuck them onto the background piece. v
These two painting on the left are from an art show here in LA.
They are very smooth paintings with
color popping out of a dark background.
This piece on the right is a sculpture
from Argentina. It is not a very clear
picture but it is a bull made out of steel.
3. These are all photos. The one of the dog is a photo
taken by a friend and then he had it mounted onto
a large poster size canvas. It is really cool and is a
picture of my friend’s frenchie. The black/white
photos on the right are pictures that my friend took
while up in Big Bear. I love photos, I think the way
the are cropped and framed can make them into
very interesting art pieces and as with all art, there is
always a story.
4. This piece on the left was purchased at an antique shop up in Big Bear.
It is intersting because it is printed on a piece of metal. My friend used
to have a cabin up in Big Bear and he had this on the wall. When he sold
it, he put it up in the guest room at his place in LA to remind him of Big
cabin. And, of course, because it is just a cool piece of artwork.
And this piece on the right is another painting from South America.
It is very colorful and quirky. An interesting piece and not my
favorite out of all his pieces. But there is somthing whimsical about
it and it is framed very nicely so it looks great.
He has many other great pieces but it would have been a
ten page slideshow if I showed you everything. Doing this blog
and using my friend’s house instead of mine was much more
interesting for my viewers I am sure. But it also made me not only
appreicate his artowork a litlle more, but made me realize that i need
to get something other than photos up on my walls. :)
