What is Enterprise 2.0? (E2.0) Web 2.0 a system of web-based technologies that provide rapid and agile collaboration  information sharing and content distribution In an integration set of capabilities Enterprise 2.0 Same but reapplied at the corporate level Learning 2.0  Same but reapplied in the educational environment NET:  Enterprise 2.0 and Learning 2.0 will have similar barriers
Barriers to E2.0 Three classes to address Application Barriers Owned by IT Resolution through diligence Cultural Barriers Owned by Leadership & HR Most difficult to adjust Often overlooked Structural Barriers  “Awareness” owned by IT “It is what it is”
Application Barriers:IT owns overcoming Technology in search of a problem IT is enamored by the technology If you build it, they will use it Unrealistic expectations  Facebook & Google are customer Benchmarks Technological choices: win big or go home The Enterprise much choose a solution Wrong choices are difficult to correct Business value: why should we invest? IT needs to articulate the value
Cultural Barriers:Leadership owns overcoming Information is power in the Enterprise E 2.0 gives up that power Powerbrokers will resist the change  Trust contributors Wikipedia as a source: Millennial vs. Baby-boomer Would you trust Sales number from a site? Where is the reward? Will I be rewarded for time spent? Will give feedback on my contribution? Personal Risk Everyone will see my contribution Will I be punished for time spent?
Structural Barriers:IT owns awareness – but it is what it is Structural vs. free form Web 2.0 flourishes without control Enterprise is centrally planned Comfort with technology Baby Boomers & Gen X comfort Less of an issue: 50% by 2015 Silent Majority .012% of Wikipedia users contribute Sample size of the audience Not enough contributors

(E2.0) Web 2.0 a system of web-based technologies that provide rapid and agile collaboration information sharing and content distribution In an integration set of capabilities Enterprise 2.0 Same but reapplied at the corporate level Learning 2.0 Same but reapplied in the educational environment NET: Enterprise 2.0 and Learning 2.0 will have similar barriers

IT needs to articulate the value

Where is the reward? Will I be rewarded for time spent? Will give feedback on my contribution? Personal Risk Everyone will see my contribution Will I be punished for time spent?
