8.4.2 Evaluating the creative process
Student Book
pp 254–55
Use the template below to help you to evaluate the creative process that you went through
when completing your project.
Describe how you generated your initial ideas
My initial ideas were mostly generated through meetings that i had with my partner. I also did primary
research as well as secondary research and i wanted to do a fashion photography exhibition.
Why did you choose one particular idea to develop further?
I combined my idea with my partners’ idea to display sights in London and fashion photography. We
combined our ideas to hold a photography exhibition on how diversity is presented through fashion in
London. I thought this idea was quite original because taking pictures of London sights alone is quite
boring, however having models to present cultures is more interesting.
How successful were the research methods that you used?
Primary research with Hannie Syeda, a professional model was successful because she provided us with
advice on what to look for in a model. The primary research with Toby, a professional photographer,
helped me develop my camera skills. He also taught me the technical terms of photography and helped
me understand the different camera angles. He also set us tasks to do which was to take photographs in
Victoria Park.
The secondary research using the internet as well as books to understand the history behind each culture
and their fashion as we needed for the exhibition to put up near each group of photographs which made
it successful.
What went well during the production process and what didn’t?
Went well Did not go well
- There were quite a lot of people at the audition - It took quite long to put up the photographs on
which provided us with a variety of people to the display boards and the audience came in earlier
select for the modelling. than that and saw the exhibition before we could
set it up properly.
- Everything went as planned such as meeting
deadlines.
- The exhibition got good positive feedback as well
as further developments and improvements for the
future.
- We had at least 15 people attending the
exhibition and it went really well according to me.

Explain what technical skills you developed whilst doing the project
I developed my camera skills by photographing from different angles and using different shots e.g.
medium long shots etc. I also understood how to use flash on a camera and zooming in and out.
If you were to do this project again, what changes would you make?
I will ensure that the exhibition is prepared and ready beforehand so that the audience don’t see the
exhibition still being set up.
