2. “The Other America” The other America is a Speech By Martin Luther King Jr. This speech that was said on April 14, 1967 at Sanford University. In this speech Dr. King speaks about the problems of race in America. He talks about a side of America that people take for granted and don’t acknowledge. In this America there are millions of “work starved men” and people live in rat-infested, vermin-filled slums. He talks about the hardships of black men in America. This is a powerful speech because it speaks the truth and only the truth.
3. “I Have A Dream” This is a well known speech by Martin Luther King Jr. In this speech. This speech was said on August 28, 1963. In this speech martin Luther King Jr. talks about the right for blacks. He also talks about his dreams for the future which include blacks being treated the same as whites. This was a very inspirational and historic speech for America.
4. Martin Luther King Jr. Bio Martin Luther King, Jr. was born on January 15. His original name was Michael Luther King, Jr., but later had his name changed to Martin. Martin Luther King Jr. was is a well known attribute of the Civil Rights Movement. He lead non violent marches and boycotts for the rights of blacks. On April 4, 1968, he was shot by James Earl Ray while standing on the balcony of a motel in Memphis, Tennessee. He was only 39 at the time of his death.
