Presentation created for the students and faculty at the University of Denver to help explain the details and responsibilities of the Colorado State Library and its responsibilities to libraries and the state.
Introduction (Briana) Welcome and thank you for joining us today. I am Briana Hovendick, a second-year student in the LIS program. I am graduating in May and hope to have a career in academic libraries. I am Jamie Archuleta. I am a first-year student and I hope to work in public libraries. My name is Sean Lamborne and I am also a first year student with the hope of working in a public library when I graduate. We are research fellows for LRS – the Library Research Service. Today’s presentation has essentially three parts. First, we’re going to lay some groundwork by explaining the units of the Colorado State Library to give you an idea of what the library does. We will then discuss LRS - which is one of the Colorado State Library’s units – and the LRS key functions. Lastly, we are going to discuss our experience as fellows, and some specific projects we worked on that are of particular interest to students and future librarians.
