• Do we have too many definitions of literacy
(Computer literacy, Christian literacy, television
literacy, etc.)?
• Have we made literacy “mean so many different
things” that it is now meaningless itself? Or do
these new literacies operate fine within their
various “spaces” (geographical, cultural,
historical, etc.)
• Burdened with the herculean task of having to
define literacy, how would you now attempt to
do it?
3. • What is our social responsibility to define and
teach literacy? Should we prioritize certainly
literacies? If so, what are the guidelines or
parameters?
• What responsibility do teachers and leaders
have on this issue of literacy?
