6:33 PM. The pledge was led by Dave Dawley and invocation by Vi. Lee gave
report on membership and informed us we had to drop two members as of
September 30, 2011, which ended our 2010-11 year.
Scott reported on the successful year we had and discussed Honor and
Distinguished Club status for the new 2011-12 year which began October 1,
2011. We need to end the year with a plus 1, plus the misc. requirements. The
Downtown Club anticipates working with the Sunday Brunch Club to open a
new club in the Largo/Clearwater area. If you have friends or know someone in
that area who would be interested in joining, please let Vi know.
Ronald McDonald House has been changed…a new
date will be announced later. Scott discussed the
Installation Banquet and announced that it was a big
success. Vi won the 50/50 at the banquet at $84.00.
Scott congratulated Ric Carvalis who is the Foundation
Rep for the District for making
six out of the top ten, as shown
in the OI magazine.

Viki, you are a great Optimist and we are proud
to have you as a member!!
Laura had the winning ticket for the 50/50 but drew a five of spades.

7. The Optimist Creed
Promise Yourself -
To be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind.
To talk health, happiness and prosperity to every person you meet.
To make all your friends feel that there is something in them.
To look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true.
To think only of the best, to work only for the best and to expect only the best.
To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own.
To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future.
To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living creature you meet a smile.
To give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others.
To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and too happy to permit the
presence of trouble.
