2. Fluorite and Quartz
Note the octahedral of Fluorite on the Elongated crystals of Quartz
3. Dr. Romero’s Collection
I particular enjoyed this collection donated by Dr. Romero from Mexico. I really like the Gypsum sample labeled Number 9
4. Rhodochrosite
Here we have haveQuartz including Rhodochrosite. Based on this sample we can determine that the Rhodochrositeis older than the surrounding Quartz
5. Refraction
This machine taught you how minerals can be identified by their angle of refraction.
6. Mineral Sculpting
On the main floor there was a temporary exhibit featuring carvings from minerals. Here are some Quartz and Amethyst sculpting / carving. The base crystals are placed next to the sculptures.
7. Diamonds
Here is a brooch with many diamonds. The Diamonds are refract a lot of light.
8. Malachite
Here is a very large sample of Malachite. You can clearly see these crystals are very large.
9. Gold
This particular sample is called “The Dragon” because it kind of looks like a dragon. Its difficult to see the cleavage but it is clearly metallic.
