2. The Beginning The FFA was founded in 1928, and was then known as the Future Farmers of America, and it promoted agricultural education. Established at the National Livestock Judging Contest by 33 students from 18 states. The first FFA national convention was held in Kansas City, where Leslie Applegate was elected president.

4. The Middle Ages 1953- Marks the silver anniversary of the founding for the FFA, and a commemorative postage stamp was introduced. In 1959, the National FFA Center was established in Alexandria, Virginia. George Washington formally owned the land. 1965- The FFA annexes the New Farmers of America .
5. By 1969 women were able to join the FFA. 1971- The FFA Alumni Association is founded. The Alumni Association currently has 42,000 members, and keeps former FFA members involved in local chapters.
6. Recently… 1998- The FFA Center was moved to Indianapolis, Indiana. 1999- The FFA national convention was held in Louisville, Kentucky. It was held in Louisville through 2005.
8. FFA manual was translated into Spanish in 2000. States such as Texas and California have a large Latino population. The translated manual helps chapters overcome language barriers at competitions and conventions.
