BANDHABAHALFILTERPLANT
This filter plant is located at Bandhabahal Colony, Jharsuguda (Odisha). Here the
capacity of this filter plant is 7.26 ml/day.The type of pipe is used here is
Humesteel pipe i.e. HS pipe. Here the size of raw water tank is 1000 mᶾ. Here the
filter particles used in flter media are sand of diffrent sizes. there are 2 types of
pumps in the pumping house of this filter plant .the first one is Raw Water
Pump(RWP) of power 150 hp and the second one is Clear water pump of power
35 hp.at last the storage of clean water i.e. clear water tank has size 800 mᶾ.

WORKING IN FILTER PLANT
OPGC situated at IB Thermal provides raw water to the filter plant which
comes through a 7 km long pipe of diameter 300 mm.The raw water is
stored into the Primary Settling Tank or Raw Water Tank. There are 2 water
tanks in this filter plant & 2 pumps are fitted in each raw water tank. After
pumping the raw water comes to Areator in which alum is mixed in that
water. Thereafter water comes from pipe of 300 mm diameter to the
Clarifier which is 19 m dia & 4.5 m depth.the water goes in the depth of the
clarifier and comes up through 1 feet gap which is present in the depth.
there is Outlet Valve which cleans the waste particles/slush from
clarifier.Again water is kept into Filter Media Bed.There are 3 filter media
bed in this plant.The function of this very bed is to filter the water .In this
filter media a pipe is setted known as Backwash Pipe.This pipe is used to
clean the filter media.At last the water is stored to the Clean Water Tank.
There are 4 Clean Water Pumps each of power 150 hp & 4 Raw Water
Pumps each of power 35 hp.Then the water is supplied to quarters ,
hospital , mines etc..

RAW WATER TANK-
This is Raw Water Tank which has capacity 1000 mᶾ. It is also known as
as Primary Settling Tank. There are 2 types of such raw water tanks in which
raw water which comes from OPGC,IB Thermal through a 7 km long pipe.
AREATOR
After pumping from Raw Water Tank the water goes to the AREATOR
in which water is broken into infinite drops which helps in the insertion of
oxygen in the water.
CLARIFIER
After Areator the water comes to the Clarifier in which it goes under
this and comes up by the 1ft gap which is present in the depth.the dia of
the clarifier is 19 m and the depth is 4.5 m.
FILTER MEDIA BED
====>> After the Clarifier the water comes to the Filter Media Bed which is
used to filter the water. There are 3 types of such beds. Here some particles
are used to filter the water in which sand of different sizes are used.
CLEAR WATER TANK
====>> At last the clear water is stored in the Clear Water Tank which has
size 800 mᶾ. From here water is supplied to quarters,hospital,mines and
other places...
