According to a press release, the Chicago Cubs
recently launched the 2015 Cubs Charities Diamond
Project, an initiative designed to increase the
accessibility, safety, and quality of local baseball
fields or training arenas. Cubs Charities founded the
Diamond Project in 2014 and previously provided
more than $330,000 to support seven baseball
facility projects around Chicago.
3. By funding the improvement of baseball fields
and facilities, the Diamond Project seeks to
expand opportunities for youth to engage in
baseball, promote an interest in the game, and
develop or enhance green space in inner-city
neighborhoods and underserved communities. In
2015, Cubs Charities will work with Local
Initiatives Support Corporation Chicago to locate
communities that could benefit from improved
baseball facilities. The organization will also
partner with Daktronics to donate 10
scoreboards to fields around the city.
