The importance of creating scalable, powerful, and efficient data centers continues to increase, and many designs are based on assembling the data center from modules. We present our design and prototype for a scalable, low-cost network for modular data centers that leverages commodity 10Gbps Light Peak technology. However, these modular designs depend critically on having a low-cost, high bandwidth network to connect the servers inside each module and connect the modules together. We present our design and prototype for a scalable, low-cost network for modular data centers that leverages commodity 10Gbps “Light Peak technology”.

GI-FI (Gigabit Fidelity) or Giga bit wireless refers to wireless communication at a data rate of more than one billion bits (gigabits) per second. GI-FI offers some advantages over WI-FI, a similar wireless technology. In that it offers faster information rate in GBPS, less power consumption and low cost for short range transmission as compare to current technology. GI-FI consists of a chip which has facility to deliver short-range multi gigabit data transfer in a local environment and compared to other technologies in the market it is ten times faster. GI-FI has the data transfer speed up to 5 GBPS within a short-range of 10 metres. It operates in 60 GHZ frequency band. GI-FI is developed on an integrated wireless transceiver chip. It has both transmitter and receiver, integrated on a single chip which is fabricated using the CMOS (complementary metal oxide semiconductor) process and it also consists of a small antenna. GI-FI allows transferring large videos, audio files, data files etc. within few seconds.

The concept of a light-tree is introduced in a wavelength-routed optical network. A light-tree is a point-to-multipoint generalization of a lightpath. A lightpath is a point-to-point all-optical wavelength channel connecting a transmitter at a source node to a receiver at a destination node. Lightpath communication can significantly reduce the number of hops (or lightpaths) a packet has to traverse; and this reduction can, in turn, significantly improve the network’s throughput. We extend the lightpath concept by incorporating an optical multicasting capability at the routing nodes in order to increase the logical connectivity of the network and further decrease its hop distance. We refer to such a point-to-multipoint extension as a light-tree.

While 6G is as yet 10 years away, organizations that keep themselves up to date with what this next networking architecture has to bring to the table will have a decisive advantage over their competitors. While 5G commercialization is still in its initial stage, it's never too soon to begin planning for 6G on the grounds that it regularly takes around 10 years from the beginning of exploration to commercialization of new generation of communications technology. Most tech insiders trust 6G would need to hit two or three benchmarks first beginning with a hyper-quick information rate that beats 5G, with download paces of at any rate 1,000Gbps (multiple times the speed of 5G) and record-breaking all-time low latency, or “air latency” of under 100 μs, start to finish (E2E) inertness under 1 ms, and amazingly low delay jitter in order of microseconds. Technology doesn't rest. Despite the fact that the 5G Technology is still in the beginning of its arrangement, the tech world is now bantering around thoughts on what the next generation – 6G – might resemble. This isn't startling on the grounds that the technology that goes into 5G's replacement will set aside some effort to create. Thunderbolt technology is a transformational I/O innovation that provides a leap in performance over current I/O technologies with 10 Gbps of full-duplex bandwidth per channel. It significantly simplifies the end-user experience by concurrently supporting data (PCI Express) and display (DisplayPort) connections over a single cable. Thunderbolt products may be connected using electrical or optical cables. Thunderbolt technology enables flexible and innovative system designs by allowing multiple, highperformance, PCI Express and DisplayPort devices to attach to a computer through a single physical connector.

In the past, Fiber-optic communication was used only for long distance communication (50 km and beyond). Only a limited number of these high-end interface products were required worldwide. More recently, companies running large data centers (Facebook, Google, Amazon,...) like to replace the traditional cabling between server racks. The copper-based approach is considered a bottleneck for further improvements in data transfer capacity. Optical fiber can dramatically increase the bandwidth between servers and reduce complexity. Thus, the optical interconnect suppliers now need to produce a large number of their products. To reduce the cost, they separate the optical parts (laser diodes, photo detectors) from the digital controller circuits. That allows to rely on advanced, standard CMOS technology for those controller circuits, enabling a cost-effective high-volume production. Both elements are combined within a single IC package using advanced packing techniques. The 25-56Gbps interfaces consist of SerDes-type circuits and are integrated into advanced CMOS technology like 28nm CMOS. To create such high-speed differential I/O circuits, designers utilize the thin oxide transistors. However, those transistors are very sensitive and can be easily damaged during transient events like electrostatic discharge (ESD). Despite the fact that the sensitive pads are not connected outside of the package, they could still receive ESD stress during assembly. Therefore, adequate protection clamps need to be inserted at the bond pads. On the other hand, for signal integrity, it is important to limit the capacitance between the interface pads and the supply lines. Sofics has worked with several companies developing these optical interconnect interfaces. Sofics developed ESD protection with parasitic capacitance below 15fF, ten times lower than the typical low-cap ESD protection devices in TSMC 28nm CMOS.

Mark Goldstein, President, International Research Center (http://www.researchedge.com/) presented an Internet of Things Innovations & Megatrends Update to the IEEE Computer Society Phoenix Chapter (http://ewh.ieee.org/r6/phoenix/compsociety/) on Wednesday, December 14, 2016 bringing up to date his presentation to the Chapter a year earlier. His long-form presentation explores the next Internet wave, the Internet of Things (IoT), expected to connect tens of billions of new sensors and devices in the coming years. Waves of change will roll through home, business, government, industrial, medical, transportation, and other complex ecosystems. This presentation examines how IoT will be implemented and monetized creating new business models from pervasive sensor deployments and data gathering, accompanied by new privacy and security risks. And it explores IoT’s roadblocks and operational challenges, emerging standards and protocols, gateway and wireless integration, and big data strategies and opportunities.

Light Emitting Diodes are assuming a noteworthy part in numerous regions of our everyday life. Aside from transmitting light, these LED's can be used for data transmission utilizing Visible Light Communication (VLC). In this paper, We propose a complete model to transfer text, images from one device to another using Visible light communication, in which transmitter transmits the encrypted data through visible light and the receiver at the receiving end identifies the transmitted data and decrypts it to retrieve the data sent.
