San Diego Sexual Abuse Counseling
- 1. San Diego Sexual Abuse Counseling
Whether you were abused by a parent, a step-parent, an older sibling/relative, or a complete
stranger, surviving sexual abuse is an accomplishment in itself. A history of sexual abuse can
lead to moderate or severe psychological and emotional difficulties later on in life. Perhaps you
were abused as a child and are now noticing dysfunctions within your daily life – things you
hadn’t noticed about yourself before. Maybe you are angrier than you usually are, or perhaps
your anxiety is heightened and you are hyper-aware of your surroundings and other people.
Suffering from symptoms of depression is also not uncommon in sexual abuse victims. It can
also hinder your ability to trust others, as well as your ability to engage in an intimate
relationship with a loving partner.
With my San Diego sexual abuse counseling, we can end your
inner torment, regain control of your life, and make you a happy
and confident person once again.
Depending on the individual, some people cope better with a history of sexual abuse than
others. However, if you are noticing that you are having recurring thoughts and/or images of the
event, nightmares, or developing signs of a psychological disorder such as Depression, Anxiety,
or Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), you may want to seek out Counseling for Sexual
Abuse. Without adequate help from a trained professional, it can be very difficult to maintain an
inner sense of peace and happiness. Even though you have been silently dealing with your
traumatic history for many years, sexual abuse victims often report re-living the experience or
having terrible difficulty becoming close to someone ever again. This is when your past begins
to affect your present and your future. In order to break this ongoing, detrimental cycle of
recurring and disturbing thoughts that are interfering with your daily functioning, you should
consider Counseling to discuss your sexual abuse in a safe and confidential environment.
Remember, you have nothing to be ashamed of and what happened to you was not your fault.
No one asks to be sexually abused, and there is no excuse for abuse of any kind. While it may
seem easier to continue going through your life as if nothing ever happened, unfortunately you
will find that at some point, you will be confronted with your past once again. It is not until you
deal with your history of sexual abuse fully, by confronting it and discussing it openly and
honestly, that you will be able to successfully move forward with your life. This will no doubt be a
daunting task, and will require you to re-live and re-experience some of the most painful
memories you’ve endured. However, masking the problem or pretending that it never
happened will only lead to the problem re-surfacing in the future, and probably in an even worse
manner than ever before. Please consider giving me a call today for a consultation so that I can
better get to know you and your situation and we can begin the journey to your complete and
total recovery.
