3. NEED GAP
• Think twice before immersing your Ganesh idol
in the lake. The idol you worshipped for 10 days
would soon be part of the garbage dumped into
the water bodies. Do we really want to give our
beloved Elephant-headed God such a farewell?
4. SOLUTION
• So the idea is that this
innovator takes up ¼ of the
lake area space and
separates it from the rest of
the lake, thus restricting the
entire lake to get polluted.
Once immersion is over
without hurting sentiment of
the public, this water is
pumped out, recycled and put
back to restore the ecosystem
and beauty of the lakes. This
way emotions of religion arent
hurt and the lake is kept clean
5. SOLUTION
"We will target the psyche of
the people and create
awareness about the state of
the idols after immersion.
This will prompt them to
immerse the idols properly in
the tanks," said industrialist
Premraj Rastogi from
Conmat, who is starting this
movement along with Rotary
Club of Baroda
Cosmopolitan (RCBC).
6. SCALABILITY
• There are more than 20 lakes in baroda itself, where this
innovator is currently operational only in 4 lakes, there are 16
more lakes they can associate themselves with and can make
this a round the year affair, considering the number of festivals
we have that need idol immersion.
• Another way of scaling up is making this as a CSR activity and
pitching it to companies in baroda, thus making it a PR activity
for them and even an opportunity for corporates to invest in the
safeguarding of our environment
7. ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY
• This innovator idea is one which is based on
environment protection and sustainability
• Corporates doing CSR can take this up in a big
way, and this helps maintain feshwater lakes,
and ecosystem in and around Baroda.
• Such immersions are regular in other cities
where this concept can be extended to protect
the environment and do cleaning up of water
resources
“the third world war shall be for water, lets save
every drop of what we have now”
8. STAKEHOLDERS
• Current stakeholders are
members of society, basically
locals who live in the area
around the lake that gets
polluted and those who derive a
livelihood from the lake as a
source of income and the
environment as an entity
• Future stakeholders, should the
innovator choose to expand his
enterprise, can include CSR
activities for firms, the
municipality authorities for
whom this is a major worry
during immersion and religious
ceremonies
9. SOCIO ECONOMIC IMPACT/ WELFARE
• This innovator initiative can provide an alternative means of
livelihood on a part time basis for laborers, or for semi skilled
workers
• They can associate with NGO’s dealing with conservation of water
bodies, ex. Clean Yamuna drive done by many NGO’s around NCR
• Locals, who live around the water bodies are protected from
diseases and can avoid living near filth
• Locals who derive a living from the lakes, say fishing, washermen
who use the water, etc can also have a sustained income since the
fish wont die
