This document proposes using an "event-based methodology" for information systems (IS) research. It argues that examining "events" allows researchers to observe everyday experiences and their complexity. Viewing IS through events rather than timelines reveals their shifting relationships and challenges assumptions of linearity. The methodology aims to incorporate the subtleties of political meanings and everyday life that are often ignored in traditional IS research. It also aims to critique how existing power structures are preserved through neutral-seeming research methods.
