2. Introduction
• NFC word stands for Near Field Communication
• NFC is one of the latest wireless communication
technologies. As a short-range wireless connectivity
technology, NFC offers safe yet simple and intuitive
communication between NFC enabled electronic
devices.
• Enables the exchange of data between devices
over a distance of up to 20 centimeters.

3. • NFC-enabled devices can simply point or touch
their making application and data usage easy and
convenient.
• Nokia is active in the area of NFC since 2004
• Together with Philips and Sony, founded the NFC
Forum.
• Currently, global membership in the NFC Forum had
exceeded 140 organizations.

6. Works How
• NFC operates in two modes
• Active Mode: In this mode, both devices are generating their
own RF fields. This would be in the case that two mobile
devices are being used to exchange data.
• Passive Mode: In this mode, one of the devices generates the
RF field and the other device uses the field to power itself and
communicate. The active device is usually the “reader” and
the passive device is the “tag”.
• NFC is based on RFID technology that uses magnetic field
induction to enable communication between electronic
devices in close proximity. NFC operates at 13.56 MHz
• For two devices to communicate using NFC, one device must
have an NFC reader/writer and one must have an NFC tag.
The tag is essentially an integrated circuit containing data,
connected to an antenna, that can read and written by the
reader.
