New Career Resources for Military Vets
President Obama and the Department of Labor are working to create programs for out of work military veterans.
Three new programs have been created:
My Next Move for Veterans – ever wonder how your military skills translate into a civilian job? A new tool
from the Department of Labor, My Next Move for Veterans, makes it easier to do. Simply visit the site, and
enter a few things about yourself. You can even select your branch and MOS and the skills translator can help
you find similar jobs in the civilian sector. www.mynextmove.org/vets
The Veterans Job Bank – helps connect unemployed veterans to job openings with companies that want to hire
them. Currently over 500,000 jobs listed in the database, with more jobs being added as they become available.
Users can search for jobs using their current location, military occupation code, or by keywords. Visit their
website to get started -- www. nationalresourcedirectory.gov/home/job-search-widget.
Veterans Gold Card Employment Program – is a new program designed to give post 9/11 era military
veterans one on one career counseling and job finding assistance. Veterans can receive their Gold Card by
visiting www.dol.gov/vets/goldcard.html or visiting your nearest One Stop Career Center
(www.servicelocator.org).
