2. What do you know about The Constitution? As an American, do you know as much about the Constitution as you should? Can you say when it was created, or where? What about who wrote it? What events led to its creation? If you don’t know the answers to these questions, my presentation should certainly help!
3. Introduction of The Constitution. The Constitution is one of the most vital pieces of paper in history. It defines the rights we have as Americans! It is what makes living in the United States such a magical thing for people in other countries.
4. When The Constitution was Created. The U.S Constitution is one of the most influential legal documents in existence. It is one of the world’s oldest documents. It is so old because it was written on September 17,1787!
5. Who created the Constitution. The authors of the Constitution were the Delegates of the Philadelphia Convention. There were 55 Delegates drafted to make the Constitution!
6. Why The Constitution was created. The men of the Constitutional Convention were fearful of an all-powerful government and wanted a bill of rights added to protect the rights of the people
7. What event led to the creation of The Constitution. The French and Indian war between France and Britain is what started the idea to create The Constitution. Also, the failure of the Articles of Confederation. It created a weak government, there was no Judicial branch or president.
8. Where the Constitution was made. The Constitution was made in the State House in Independence Hall in Philadelphia on May 25, 1787.
9. What the Constitution was modeled after. The model for the Constitution was inspired by many historical documents. Commentaries on the Laws of England by William Blackstone. This book gave rights and wrongs of people in society. The Spirit of the Laws by Baron de Montesquieu. This talked about separation of powers. Social Contract by Jacques Rousseau. This said that the government should consist of the people. Two Treatises of Government by John Locke. Covers that man is created equal under God.
10. The Constitution Solved Problems! The Constitution solved many problems. Instead of one branch of government, it gave us the Legislative branch, Judicial branch, and Executive branch. Checks and balances were created. There was a separation of power between branches. The Electoral College was created to represent the states in presidential elections.
11. The Limits of the Constitution The Constitution limits the powers of government. Each branch has its own power. The Government must obey the laws! This principle is called constitutionalism.
12. What would you change about the Constitution? I would not change a thing! I believe that checks and balances is a system that works well for the United States! Also, it provides us with an equal chance to be involved in government choices!
13. Is The Constitution relevant today? Yes the Constitution is still relevant today! We still have to rule by the Constitution and the Division of Powers is still working fine! All of these things allow us to have a smooth running democracy!
