Remembering Bapu…Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi
Dear Respected Bapuji
I am remembering you on birthday anniversary and feeling missing you desperately. I too remember
intensely your follower, great human, extraordinary simple & honest person and leader Lal Bahadur
Shastriji.
Wish I would have come in this world before you were assassinated by patriotic people however holding
extreme fascist views.
While studying your life, which is not simple and not possible either, I concluded that
a. You were extremely affirmative & fearless personality.
b. You had simple and sustainable living style
c. You promoted importance of health, both body and mind (purity of the soul)
d. You could create strong powerful and pure thoughts due to simple living style
e. You were having no assets to lose, and since being extremely logical and intelligent so you could
guide considering what is right without any selfish interest.
f. You were forward looking visionary, with great clarity of using high technologies however using
minimum resources
g. You believed and established that to enjoy power, money and huge assets are not must, but
what needed are people’s love & affection and commanding their respect.
h. You had great vision to challenge & shake the mind of masses creating turbulence by simple
events like challenging the British-imposed salt tax Dandi March and Quit India movement.
You promoted & advocated principles of non-violence established a model of fasting and civil non-
obedience and non-cooperation, bearing deep objective to free India from British Rule and to be
independent country.
You had tremendous courage to live using just one piece cloth, have a terrible disciplined life and daily
itinerary, absolute punctuality like waking up early morning without missing a time come what may,
bath using cold water, spinning yard, not using much electricity, following celibacy (bramhacharya), etc.
and did not miss even when you went to foreign countries for discussions and negotiations, without
feeling shy.
Your deep beliefs of development of India starting from villages, making those self sustainable, and of
equalities without any discrimination of caste, creed, religion, etc were very impressive.
It was a great behavior accepting the mistakes and not to repeat those. You ate non-vegetarian food,
drank alcohol and realised the mistake. You had maturity to realise & accept the mistake and guts to
apologise and determination not to repeat those.
You also had a global view of boundary less nations and of one world! You had simple views of religion
and humanity.
Wished you were around and I would have discussed, understood you better
• Why you agreed for partition when you assured that it would be possible only after your body is
cut in parts?

• Why you wanted to give cash assets to neighbouring country?
• Was it painful when people enjoying power and not listening you?
• Have you spend sleepless night or were you cool during tough situations?
• Did you thought of building character first and then seeking independence? Why you did not do
character building passionately and parallel?
• How to develop powerful mind, how to analyse right and wrong without confusion and to be
affirmative?
• From where did you gain the strength while insisting Manuben to sleep naked with you to check
and prove your celibacy? I also wonder to prove your fearless ability, why did you not sleep /
garland with King Cobra?
• And lastly what would you be doing seeing people with mix style & attributes around you in
todays world?
Wish I can follow 100th
portion of what you followed, part of your good and great behavior. Salute to
your hardship & determination!
