Faced with the challenge of living in the midst of
a crooked and perverse generation, it is natural
that we wish to react against it
But how shall we react to it?
Paul offers 6 ways in which we can react
Today I wish to look at the first of these, Working Out
Your Own Salvation
Not in the way the world reacts, but by applying the
standard of God's word
3. Introductory Thoughts
Take a close look at Titus 3:1-8
Ready for every good work - Verse 1
Not saved by works of righteousness - Verse 5
Saved by God's mercy applied through the washing of
regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit - Verse 5
Need to maintain good works - Verse 8

Developing a Christ-Like Service
4. Developing a Christ-Like Character
By Growing in the Grace and Knowledge of Jesus
Christ
As admonished in 2 Peter 3:18
Defined by Peter in 2 Peter 1:5-11
Develop Christ-Like Qualities - Verses 5-8
Through diligence and an ever increasing growth in the
Christian Graces - Verses 5, 8
Lacking these graces will hinder our entrance into
heaven - Verses 9-11
5. Developing a Christ-Like Character
By Putting off the Old Man, and Putting on the
New Man
Colossians 3:1-17
By setting our minds on things above - Verses 1-4
By ceasing to do the things which God's wrath is going to
come upon one day - Verses 5-9
By allowing the new man to reflect the image of Christ -
Verses 10-11
By developing Christ-Like qualities - Verses 12-14
By allowing God's peace to rule in thankful hearts - Verse 15
By letting the Word dwell in us through singing - Verse 16
By doing all things in the name of the Lord - Verse 17
6. Developing a Christ-Like Service
Fulfill your function in the Body of Christ
Romans 12:1-8
We all have a reasonable service to perform -
Verses 1-2
To be effective in doing this, we must:
Maintain a proper spirit of humility - Verse 3
Remember that we all have a different function -
Verses 4-5
Need to use the gifts we have - Verses 6-8
7. Developing a Christ-Like Service
Minister your gift as a good steward of God's
manifold grace
1 Peter 4:10-11
Everyone has a gift - Verse 10
Since God's grace is manifold we should expect some
diversity in our service - Verse 10
We must be good stewards of our gift -
Matthew 25:14-30
We must exercise our gift to the glory of God - Verse
11

Much more could be said about working out our
own salvation
Working out our own salvation in these 2 ways
will certainly help us "Shine as a light in the
world"
