Planning booklet
1. Digital Graphic Narrative Planning
Use this booklet to help structure your planning and collate your planning documents.
Considerations:
There are lots of things to consider in this project. Fill out each section in detail to show you have thought about each one. You
should imagine that this is a live project, so considerations like cost, quantity and codes of practice must be thought about in that
context rather than just as a college project.
Costs:
For my book I am going to be manually creating all my characters backgrounds props etc so
as for costs there are none for me during this project.
Available resources:
As for resources I have Photoshop, any type of drawing utensil, scanners and the such, but
since I am making all my bookon Photoshop that’s all I need.
2. Quantity:
My book would be limited edition books published and produced inthe thousands for a first
come first serve ordering system.
Audience and Target Market:
My audience would be fans of the WWE productbetween the ages of 4-7, this is mainly a
male-based audience but it doesn’t mean females cannot purchase and enjoy the book.
Quality Factors:
I need to not be late, miss days or be distracted from my work to make sure the quality of my
work is at its highest.
Codes of Practice:
My work needs to be in the style of, in the quality of and the length of my proposalthat I put
forward.
3. Regulation:
I am confidentthat my book doesn’tbreach the Equality act of 2010 and the Obscene
Publications act of 1959.
Copyright:
Robin Hood is a public domain folk tale so there is no copyright worry for that however the use
of formerand current WWEsuperstars would cause me to contact their offices to gain
copyright clearance for their image/likeness.
Ethical Issues:
There is no cause for worry over ethical issues in my children’s book.
4. Resources:
A successful project relies on good planning. Considering all the resources you will need for a project and then assessing which
you already have and which you need will help ensure you are ready to start your project.
If there is a resource you don’t currently have, then consider how you are going to get it before you go in to production.
Resource:
Do you have
it? What do you need to do to get it?
Photoshop Yes Log onto the college Macs
Story Boards Yes Get it off my memory stick
Script Yes Get it off my storyboards
Memory Stick Yes Get it out of my bag
5. Production Schedule:
Delivering your project on time is vital. In order to do this, you need a solid plan of action. This will help you divide up your work in
to manageable chunks to be tackled one at a time. It will also allow you to plan which tasks need to be done in which order. It will
also allow you to track your progress each day. If you are falling behind, you will need to modify the way you work. If you work
faster than expected, you can clearly see what the next steps you need to take are.
Each session is a half day of college.
Session 1:
Get started on the text of my book, and make sure that it is finished before I start on my images.
Sort out my font sizes to make sure that the pages with most text and the pages with the least amount
of text match up.
Begin sourcing the images for my backgrounds.
Session 2:
Creating the extra characters necessary for my story (Guards, King Regal, Friar Mark and Shawn
Scarlett.)
6. Session 3:
Continuing with the creation of characters
Start putting the characters into play and positions on the books backgrounds
Edit character starting points onto the backgrounds so they are performing the necessary pose on the
page
Session 4:
Continuing to work through my book for most sessions on from here.
7. Session 5:

Session 6:

8. Session 7:
Continuing to work through my book for most sessions on from here.
Session 8:
Finishing my book and organising the pages into order on powerpoint.
9. Session 9:
Going back through my book to ensure I have left no spelling errors or dodgy presentation, for example,
making sure all my text is the same size.
Session 10:
One last check to make sure all is 100% correct.
10. Health and safety:
Your health and safety and that of those around you is very important. Just like in industry, an accident could prevent you from
working. Whilst we don’t work in a highly dangerous environment, there are still risks. Some are short term, such as trips and
spillages whilst others, such as long term damage to eyesight or back problems, may affect you much later in life.
Consider the risks based on the activities you will be undertaking during the project. Explain how you could prevent them from
happening.
Ensure you reference appropriate pieces of legislation, design to protect people at work.
11. Health and Safety Issue How can you prevent it?
Tripping over bags and wires.
Making sure any trip hazards are tucked away under my
working area at all times.
Spillages onto equipment
By ensuring that I do not drink around the work
equipment.
Using the equipment for too long. My session times does not make this a factor for me.
