SERVICES FOR PRODUCERS
You’ve got an idea for a show. I can smell it. Well BTV is here to help. So what can we do for you?
Equipment Rental
We’ve got two Canon XHA1 High Definition prosumer video cameras. They’re legit. In the way of audio,
we’ve got two Rode NTG‐2 shotgun mics with boom poles and windjammers. We have two wired
lavaliere mics and two wireless lavaliere mics. We’ve got work lights and a professional three piece Arri
lighting kit with barndoors, scrims, a reflector, gels, and a silk.
Rental procedures are straightforward. You’ll need a BTV representative or to become a member of BTV
staff yourself in order to gain rental priviliges. Rentals are scheduled on a google docs website. Contact
our Technical Director at tech@browntv.org for questions and additional info.
Cast, Crew, and Management Networking
BTV maintains a few relevant listservs: a staff listserv, a general audience listserv, and a production
listserv. Much of our staff is particularly skilled with BTV equipment, but if you are unable to find
technical assistance there, you should feel free to email the production listserv for assistance, which
addresses members of the Brown community interested in production, but not part of btv‐staff. This is
also a good way to get your project out in the open and get some people in management.
Also, on our website we’re developing a list of cast and crew and their contact information. Visit
http://browntv.org/memberdirectory to view or add yourself.
Some other talent resources are tapping into the Brown University theatre community. Email the
following listservs for talent: Sock&Buskin, Gilbert&Sullivan
We also know it can be incredibly helpful to talk to other producers to see how they’re doing their stuff.
A list of producers is available on the browntv.org website, and we maintain a listserv for group contact:
producers@listserv.brown.edu.
Online Video Hosting and Streaming
On Demand: All videos will be expected to be uploaded to a Vimeo account. Trust us, it’s much better
than Youtube and we have some individuals on staff who are skilled with it and can help you out there.
Once you have your final product, you’ll hand the highest quality file to our President of
BTVprogramming (programming@browntv.org), who will get it ready for air release on‐demand and on
broadcast for after your premier on our Livestream Premium player at www.browntv.org
