Palyja, a French water company, has had its contract to supply water in Jakarta, Indonesia extended for another 25 years despite ongoing issues with water supply. Some experts are critical of the contract extension arguing that Palyja has failed to meet its obligations, including supplying 24-hour water to many areas of Jakarta. Residents have continued to experience intermittent water supply and water pressure issues during Palyja's time operating the system.
