UNESCO World Heritage Sites
The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural
Organization identifies, protects and preserves cultural and
national heritage sites around the world. There are nine
UNESCO cultural sites within the United States as well as
thirteen natural sites. This tour focuses on five of cultural sites
of historic significance.

Independence Hall
The building in which The Declaration of Independence
(1776), as well as The Constitution of the United States
(1787), were both signed stands as a world heritage site and
museum in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Colorado
Mesa Verde National Park
Cliff dwellings of more than 100 rooms and villages built on mesa
tops can be found at Mesa Verde National Park, the site of
ancestral Pueblo Indian dwellings dating back to the 6th century.
6. + Cahokia Mounds
Located in St. Louis, Illinois, the Cahokia Mounds are the site of a complex PreColumbian settlement occupied during the Mississippian period of 800-1400
which consisted of 120 mounds. The Monk Mound remains to be explored at this
world cultural heritage site.

Statue of Liberty
A gift from France, the Statue of Liberty has welcomed millions of
immigrants to the United States since it was received in 1886. It
remains a symbol of independence and is now a UNESCO World
Cultural Heritage Site.
