Developing a Strategic Plan for IT Our University web site* defines a strategic plan as:  ”A document that outlines the vision, values, and goals of an organisation       for the medium to long term”. It is the outcome of a process of comprehensive planning that considers: - the future of current decisions  - overall policy  - organisational development  - links to operational plans (i.e. not the plans themselves) Structure of our University plan: - Vision - Values - Themes: each theme has a Description, KPIs and several Objectives,  		each Objective has between two and five actions * http://www.leedsmet.ac.uk/strategicplan

Developing a Strategic Plan for IT The take away:   Developing a strategy is a process Using defined resources and subject to various constraints, a process transforms inputs into outputs An acid test of process design is that the inputs and output should balance - nothing new is introduced in a process !
