Companies are asking reps to know more, as product lines multiply in scope and complexity, and sell more, as competition escalates and quotas increase. They’re leaning harder on a thinning crop of star performers to work longer hours to ramp up new reps and grow revenue streams: 80% of revenues are generated by just 20% of an organization’s sales force 2 Salespeople forget 85% of content and skills within four weeks of training 3 Only 57% of reps made quota in 2007 4 Sales cycles have lengthened by 22% versus 3 years ago 5 Rep turnover rates are at near-record highs (50%) and climbing 6 "If sales professionals could gain just 12 more minutes of productive time each day, top-line revenue would grow by 2 percent for the typical organization." — Greg Harper, President, employee mobility consultancy Runzheimer International

OnPoint’s typical Deployment Model includes this sort of process flow.
Adding a mobile learning layer to the typical Deployment Model introduces several new mobile-specific or mobile-aware authoring tools by leveraging a new mobile learning module and new mobile devices. In this diagram, mobile learning is an extension of the OnPoint platform but the typical OnPoint m-learning customer probably has their own existing LMS platform as represented on the next day.
OnPoint’s CellCast Solution platform competes with a select number of other mobile learning-focused vendors who each offer their own on-device technologies and content delivery options. Unlike the traditional m-learning authoring vendors, all of these vendors support some form of the creation and distribution of “media-based” content and learning services to mobile workers.
Compared to the other media-based mlearning vendors, OnPoint’s CellCast Solution allows for content creation using a wide variety of popular 3 rd party tools including any media medias and outputs from standard applications like Microsoft Office, Sun Open Office, Adobe and even mobile-specific authoring like Learning Mobile Author from Hot Lava Software (now Outstart).
Integration is a hallmark feature of the CellCast Solution platform. We have native support to provide connections through multiple channels including Web Service/WSDL, REST, an API tool kit, a data warehouse, Active Directory/LDAP and even SAML-based SSO. Typical connections to other platforms include existing LMS, CRM, ERP and SFA applications both commercial and proprietary.
The level of cross-platform integration can include any/all of the these feeds.

When considering the mobile learning building block model, the higher you go up the model, the more capabilities and content diversity that’s possible, but the more complexity that gets added to the mix as well.

The initial release of the CellCast Solution provides support for the first 3 of 6 mobile learning methods as previously presented. These include support for (1) preparing/sending notifications out to user/learners based on defined business rules and triggered conditions, (2) support for defining and managing 2-way messaging campaigns using SMS – this can be leveraged for content request/delivery as well as interactive tests and surveys (asked one question at a time) for field trials, data collection and on location testing/polling, and (3) support for preparing and delivering audio content using voice lines/plans that can include interactive tests and assessments. The advantage of the CellCast 1.0 architecture is it works on virtually any phone on any carrier anywhere in the world.
Content is authored using internal CellCast tools as well as other popular 3 rd party platforms. Any audio-based content is automatically transcoded into alternative audio formats to support device profiles. CellCast Servers (hosted or enterprise) securely store and manage mobile content. Includes Web Manager interface, Ecommerce tools, full reporting engine and analytics. Voice-based CellCast services (for basic audio CellCasts) are routed as a SIP connection between the CellCast Server and an enterprise PBX or Carrier Central Office or… … routed through a specialized CelLCast VOIP appliance that can be located either within a hosting center, in a Carrier Central Office, or at the enterprise location and … … flow through as standard Mobile Terminated (MT) or Mobile Originated (MO) voice calls. Mobile learners access content/assignments and all interactions are tracked and synced back to the server as defined by business rules. All messaging-based services and interactive 2-way text campaigns are managed through an SMS aggregator (e.g., Clickatell, mBLOX).
The New CellCast Solution v2.0 architecture (released July 2008) adds support for highly sophisticated media playback through the introduction of device-specific widgets which, when installed on a supported smartphone, provide support for all six levels of the mobile learning model.

The typical Deployment Model for the next generation CellCast Solution includes the following core components: First, mobile users (today supporting RIM BBs, Apple iPhones with Windows Mobile phones coming soon) install a secure and branded CellCast Player on their smart phone and once configured, the Player seamlessly interacts with the CellCast Web Portal to synchronize assignments, messages, content downloads and more. Customers and partners can modify, organize and brand OnPoint Players to meet their own unique identity requirements. CellCast Players can also be localized into several different languages (“romance languages today with double-byte supporting anticipated in the future). Next, mobile users can also be granted access to a secure Web Portal where they can review their assignments, select content from the master library, create playlists and manage content delivery and synchronization tasks. Finally, managers and administrators have access to the CellCast Portal, an enterprise-class content management and delivery platform, where they can create and assign content, build assessments, and set business rules. Once content has been deployed, managers can also access the CellCast Portal to run reports, view progress, and perform deep analysis on the documented results. All portals and web tools can be localized into 11 different languages.
