wide. It is cooled by Pacific Ocean air flowing from south to north with
the coolest area of the valley on the southern end, near Jimtown.
In the northernmost hills, near the town of Cloverdale, heat dominates.
Cabernet sauvignon can ripen well and display a variety of styles up
Rockaway Vineyard and down the valley, and in and out of the hills.

High Valley appellation is at an elevation of 1,700 - 1,800 ft. and 400 - 500 ft. above
Clear Lake. High Valley ridge rises above the valley floor forming an isolated basin
that traverses west to east. round Mountain (an active volcano during the Late
Mt. Konocti 4,299 Ft.
Pliocene Period) is located on the eastern end of the valley. Volcanic eruptions formed
a unique ‘geology’ in High Valley resulting in excellent drainage conditions along
with a variety of soil types ideal for hearvesting a wide range of grape varietals.
