Sensor Observation Service

The SOS standard is useful when sensor data needs to be managed
in an interoperable way. This standard deﬁnes a Web service
interface which allows querying observations, sensor metadata, as
well as representations of observed features. Further, this standard
deﬁnes means to register new sensors and to remove existing ones.
Also, it deﬁnes operations to insert new sensor observations.

These slides were presented during the humanitarian OpenStreetMap mapathon held at Politecnico di Milano on November 19, 2015 in the frame of the OpenStreetMap Geography Awareness Week (http://osmgeoweek.org). After a brief presentation of OpenStreetMap (OSM), the slides show how to work with the OSM Tasking Manager (http://tasks.hotosm.org) with regard to the specific mapping tasks agreed with HOT (Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team) and Missing Maps project members. The slides include also a handful of OSM resources for beginners.
