TUNE YOUR DISEASE CONTROL
TO THE WAY YOU FARM.
New DuPont™ Acapela™ fungicide. Like music to your crop.
Fungicide Use in Corn and
Soybeans is Growing
STRATUS MARKET RESEARCH DATA:
• Fungicide use in corn and soybeans continues to grow in Canada with approximately 10% of the
acres receiving a fungicide application in 2012.
• Over 700,000 acres of foliar fungicides were applied on corn and soybeans representing over 50%
year/year growth.
Soybean fungicides Corn fungicides
DuPont™ Acapela™ fungicide:
Launch 2012 a Great Success
FACTS:
• Growers applied Acapela™ fungicide on
over 100,000 acres in corn and soybeans
in its launch year
• According to Stratus data, Acapela™ was
the #2 brand in corn and #3 brand in
soybeans – in its launch year.
FIELD RESULTS:
• Acapela™ was tested in over 125 grower side x
side trials in 2012.
• Acapela™ performance was impressive,
delivering consistent yield advantages in spite
of dry conditions and relatively low disease
pressure in 2012
DuPont™ Acapela™ fungicide
BENEFIT
•Acapela™ has one-of-a-kind movement properties that help provide superior coverage to
deliver reliable disease control under a variety of conditions
SOLUTION
•Acapela™ provides control of a broad spectrum of important foliar diseases in row crops
including Northern Leaf blight, Septoria, Cercospora, Rust and Powdery mildew*
•Acapela™ is an innovative new tool for the management of white mould, a devastating
disease of soybeans and edible beans*
VALUE
•Acapela™ helps to deliver healthier crops and higher yield potential
*Refer to the Acapela™ label for complete use instructions.
• The redistribution properties of Acapela™ are unique because it is the only strobilurin
that shows both:
– vapour activity; a gas like protective barrier that moves locally over the leaf surface and;
– xylem systemic activity; movement through the plant tissues to distribute throughout the leaf
as it grows

SOLUTION
Broad-Spectrum Utility
• Acapela™ provides control of a broad spectrum of important foliar diseases in row crops including
Northern Leaf blight, Septoria, Cercospora, rust and powdery mildew
• Acapela™ is the only fungicide registered in soybeans for the suppression of
Sclerotinia white mould*
• Applied at early flowering, Acapela™ can significantly reduce the severity
of a white mould infection in soybeans
• The higher rate of 0.35 L/ac is recommended and a 2nd application 7-10
days later is required for optimum disease suppression

Earlier Applications at V4-V6
• Primary focus of research and side x side data with Acapela™ has been at the VT-R3
window of application.
• Acapela is registered for application at earlier V4-V6 window of application. Trials will be
conducted in 2013 to evaluate this earlier timing.
• We have limited greenhouse studies in 2011 and field trials in 2012 demonstrating
visual and yield responses. Further trials are planned in 2013 to understand the value of
this earlier application timing.

Editor's Notes

  1. The study shows that Acapela™ has superior uptake and translocation in the soybean leaf over Quadris® and Headline®. The red and yellow shading indicates high radioactivity concentration of the active ingredient over and through the leaf.Note that Quadris® had medium concentration and Headline® shows relatively low concentration throughout the leaf.
