16. “ Villagers perceive pollution levels with their mind. It is not something that can be expressed with numbers.” -Hua Fai village head Environmental Information Boards
Good afternoon. My name is Ryan and these are my partners Tim, Sasha and Alex. Along with our sponsor, Dr. Nuntavarn we investigated a case of environmental communication in Mae Moh, Thailand. How industries control pollution and more importantly, how industries communicate these controls to the public have been brought into the public eye in recent years. One example of this challenging dilemma is in Mae Moh, Thailand. In Mae Moh there is an electricity company called the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand or EGAT. EGAT operates a Power Plant and Mine in the local area which directly effects the surrounding villagers.
