2. Hi, Rick here. I was just thinking about
something. Is upselling your products really the
best revenue? Here are a few things to consider.
In this post I'm going to hit on some things to
think about before adding a product upsell.
3. Now, you can really double your revenue with an
upsell. You know, when somebody buys a
product from you and you have an upsell on the
download or thank you page. You can have an
extra 50 to 200% revenue right there on the
upsell. You can double your income right there
on the spot. Now here's another way to do this to
maximize revenue and it might be for you or
might not.
4. Another Way to Generate Revenue
Everybody hears about trust and relationship and
how it affects business, but is an upsell a great
way to build trust and relationship? You know
there are a lot of people that believe they are
building trust and relationships, but I believe
that, it's possible, to have higher revenue by not
having a product upsell. I think that we should be
thinking about total revenue over the lifetime of
that customer.
5. So I think a great way to build relationships and
have more results for people is to build
relationships with people that trust you before
they even buy. You can build trust in the first 14
days. You can look for someone that just doesn't
want your first product but somebody who buys
from you the first time, consumes that
information, finds value in, and buys another
product. Year after year.
6. Would you rather have someone buy from you
every single month for two years or maybe even
five years and build a relationship, instead of
concentrating on those initial sales. You have to
decide.
For me, I don't like upsells because that just seem
so salesy. As if people just want to sell you
something else quickly. Before you even have a
chance to see if what you bought was even worth
it. I’ve bought them before though.
7. Give is much information as you can and answer
questions in your autoresponder. Questions that
people need to move forward to the next stage in
their business. Try building relationships with
people (without an upsell) that learn something
from you over time.
8. Can Upsells Limit Long Term Revenue From
Your Products ?
I think that having an upsell right away takes
away from that revenue over the lifetime of the
customer. Why? Because I don't want to just try
to sell them as much is possible and make as much
money as I can. I want to deliver value over time
so that I can build relationships and trust with
people that matter and connect with me.
9. Now you might want to think about how you want
to do this. You can go and split test and see how it
works for you over time. Do you want to create
instant upsell's? Do you want to build
relationships and revenue streams that last for
years. Remember that just because it works for
one doesn't mean it works for everyone. Some
people that don't use upsells, in my opinion build
better relationships and bigger revenue over time.
Maybe not for you. Again, test and decide what’s
best for you.
10. There has been a lot of testing on this and it works
for some people and for some it doesn't. Try
looking for those relationships that connect with
you. Not everybody connects with everybody but
the people that do connect with you, you have to
decide how you want to present your products
and which way gets you the best revenue. So
having an upsell can be very profitable for you.
You might even create a bigger business if you
even make a good decision. Something to think
about.
11. Does Upselling Work for You?
There is a lot of credible information that leans
towards repeat business (which I believe is the
best kind of business) if you don't have an upsell.
What I see is that more people buy from you after
14 days, what they would have spent on an upsell.
Trust and relationships seem to grow faster. Find
out what kind of revenue you can get over the
lifetime of the customer. Get the results if it works
for you.
