More than Just Lines on a Map: Best Practices for U.S Bike Routes
What I've learned from audience feedback? (front cover + poster)
1. What I’ve learned from
Audience Feedback? (front
cover and poster)
By Richard Go
2. My questionnaire and analysis helped me identify who
my target audience should be
3. Target Audience?
Male
15-18 yr. olds and 22-24 yr. olds
Predominantly Gangster crime genre lovers
Goes to the cinema either often or 1-3 times a month
Haven’t seen a Nollywood style film yet. Though,
they’re interested
4. How R&P impacted upon my
ancillary tasks?
The market specified that black is
the most popular color they
would associate with Gangster
Crime films. So I took this upon
my ancillary tasks and used
black as the dominant color to be
used in both my magazine and
poster. You can see this from the
mise en scene of my media
productions; black alleyways,
black suit and fedora hat.
5. How R&P impacted upon my
ancillary tasks?
My magazine front cover
sell-lines and freebies
offered were also
impacted from the
questionnaire.
As you could see
My sell-lines and
freebies were all
more likely
to be eye-catching
to men than women.
6. How R&P impacted upon my
ancillary tasks?
In terms of the film magazine, we found out that the
brand image of “Total Film” and “Empire” are really
important to the respondents that purchase film
magazines. This is why I’ve used Empire’s
conventional masthead within my film magazine.
7. Audience Feedback – Front
Cover
“It looks very eye-catching”
“The image itself without the sell-lines can
help you define the genre itself due to the
fedora hat”
“I like it”
“The sell-lines really fit in with the male
target market”
“Its good but I think that the button should
be moved as it seems to be covering a
certain part of the main image”
8. Audience Feedback – Front
Cover
I’ve learnt from the audience feedback that
my audience really liked my front cover
film magazine. and in one of the
comments, one of the audience said, “The
image itself without the sell-lines can help
you define the genre itself due to the
fedora hat”. I think this was very helpful in
establishing to myself that I have chosen
the right image to portray my film’s genre
and also, this comment tells me surely that
the main image really fulfills its purpose to
give to the not only market my film but also
inform them on my film’s genre especially
on the fact that I am targeting a market that
are very interested and predominantly
considers gangster crime as their favourite
genre.
9. Audience Feedback – Front
Cover
Moreover, upon seeing the
audience feedback, it is clear that
my choice of sell-lines are good as
one of my audience said, “The sell-
lines really fit in with the male target
market”
10. Audience Feedback – Front
Cover
In terms of criticism, my audience stated that …the button should
be moved as it seems to be covering a certain part of the main
image” I agreed with this comment and due to the time I had by
being able to finish the film magazine front cover in time, I decided
to quickly redraft my magazine front cover and move the button
and the barcode around to give enough space for the main image.
11. Audience Feedback - Poster
“Its too dark”
“I think it needs film reviews
since its just a new up-coming
film.”
“Its really good and I think I
would go and see the film”
“The pose of the model is really
good as it provides sense of
mystery”
12. Audience Feedback - Poster
One of my audience stated that it was …too dark” I
then decided to brighten up the lighting due to this
comment and as you could see below, improvement is
evident from the changes
13. Audience Feedback - Poster
One of my audience also mentioned and suggested
that film reviews must be included within the poster. I
thought about this comment and I fairly agree with it
which is why I’ve decided to put film reviews in my
poster.
14. Audience Feedback - Poster
However, despite the criticism, my
audience still felt that this was a very
effective film poster and they really
would like to see the film upon seeing
this poster as one stated, “Its really good
and I think I would go and see the film”
Another one also stated how they liked
the pose of my model and they think …it
provides sense of mystery” This tells me
that the main image really fulfill its
purpose as an image as this is exactly
what I wanted to portray in my poster,
The decision Daniel has to face in the
film on whether to align with his father or
his lover.
