History-
 It was invented in 1886, by pharmacecist
John Stitch Pemberton in Columbus Georgia.
 The prototype recipe of coke was formulated
at the Eagle Drug And chemical company.
 By the time of 50th anniversary, it had
reached the status of a national icon in the
U.S.A.
 On April 23, 1985, Coca-Cola, amid much
publicity, attempted to change the formula of
the drink with "New Coke".
Cont…
 On July 5, 2005, it was revealed that Coca-Cola would resume
operations in Iraq for the first time since the Arab League boycotted the
company in 1968.
 In April 2007, in Canada, the name "Coca-Cola Classic" was changed
back to "Coca-Cola". The word "Classic" was removed because "New
Coke" was no longer in production, eliminating the need to differentiate
between the two. The formula remained unchanged.
 In January 2009, Coca-Cola stopped printing the word "Classic" on the labels of
16-US-fluid-ounce (470 ml) bottles sold in parts of the south eastern United
States. The change is part of a larger strategy to rejuvenate the product's image.
The word "Classic" was removed from all Coca-Cola products by 2011.
Present situation of Coca-Cola-
 In 2012, Coca-Cola would resume
business in Myanmar after 60 years of
absence due to U.S.-imposed
investment sanctions against the
country. Coca-Cola with its partners is to
invest USD 5 billion in its operations in
India by 2020.

Let us know about Pepsi
 Pepsi is a carbonated drink that is produced and
manufactured by PepsiCo.
 It has been created and developed by 1893 and
introduced as “Brad’s Drink”.
 It was later renamed by Pepsi-Cola on August 28,
1898 then to Pepsi in 1961.
 Pepsi and Cola are not the same.
History
 Pepsi was first introduced in New Bern, North
Carolina, United States.
 In 1893, Caleb Bradham made it as drugstore
where the drink was sold.
 It was later labelled Pepsi Cola, named after the
digestive enzyme pepsin and kola nuts used in the
recipe.
 Bradham sought to create a fountain drink that
was delicious and would aid in digestion and boost
energy.
Cont…
 In 1903, Bradham moved the bottling of Pepsi-
Cola from his drugstore to a rented warehouse.
 Bradham sold 7,968 gallons of syrup.
 In 1926, Pepsi received its first logo redesign
since the original design of 1905.
 In 1929, the logo was changed again to it's globe
design.
Present situation of Pepsi
 Pepsi gained popularity following the introduction in
1936 of a 12-ounce bottle. With a radio advertising
campaign featuring the jingle "Pepsi-Cola hits the
spot / Twelve full ounces, that's a lot / Twice as much
for a nickel, too / Pepsi-Cola is the drink for you",
arranged in such a way that the jingle never ends.
Pepsi encouraged price-watching consumers to
switch, obliquely referring to the Coca-Cola standard
of 6.5 ounces per bottle for the price of five cents (a
nickel), instead of the 12 ounces Pepsi sold at the
same price. Coming at a time of economic crisis, the
campaign succeeded in boosting Pepsi's status. From
1936 to 1938, Pepsi-Cola's profits doubled.

rather smack of the patent competition in the
1980s and 1990s. But in reality, Pepsi surrendered
the war was lost.
Cont…
 Yet in comes Indra Nooyi, PepsiCo’s CEO as of
2006, and the game completely changes.
 A former management consultant, she decided not
to duke it out directly with Coke. Instead, she’s
trying to redefine the playing field.
Who won the cola war ???

lost the Cola War.
 As Pepsi's profits trailed
Coca Cola's by 47 percent,
the magazine declared that
the brand had officially lost
the war.

declared a winner i.e. Coca-
Cola.
