Governor David Dewhurst is encouraging Texans to get back to work.<br />Dewhurst wants employers to take advantage of the new Texas Back to Work program sponsored by the Texas Workforce Commission.<br />The commission is offering a two-year incentive program for Texas employers that hire other Texans receiving unemployment.<br />The program dictates each employer can receive up to $2,000 per employee they hire, as long as they are employed for at least 120 days.<br />quot;
Every Texan who wants to work and provide for their family should be able to, and this program will help make that happen for unemployed Texans who qualify,quot;
Lt. Governor Dewhurst said.<br />Dewhurst appropriated $15 million for the program.<br />Sen. Robert Duncan joined Dewhurst in his efforts to promote the program at workforce centers in San Angelo and Abilene.<br />quot;
This type of innovative program aimed at getting unemployed Texans back to work is what sets Texas apart from other states. I'm confident this kind of business friendly initiative will prove important in helping lead us out thee challenging economic times,quot;
