Social media is about relationships: connecting, sharing, and even learning
In order to use social media effectively and productively, you need to use it well.
You can do this by being clear on:
Who you are: if you are clear on your values, interests, mission and vision, you will be more effective with social media as you will consistently convey a coherent message – you will be authentic
Achieve: What is your dream? What difference do you want to make in the world? Who do you want to connect with and how many? How can social media help you to achieve those ends? How do you want to use social media personally? Professionally? Which channels will serve this purpose best? (Renee will deal with this last question in the next slide)
Social media serves YOU: strategic use of social media tools will support you in achieving your dreams and goals. (if you have clear dreams and goals, your use of social media will be more effective in helping these things find you. What LinkedIn and Facebook groups should you join? What social media tools will help you make an impact?
Exercise: Use the coloured sheet on your seat to answer these three questions.
Examples: I am a lifelong learner interested in meaningful careers for myself and others, people on the move and in transition, inspiration for the journey. I want to share what I do with others who can benefit, and connect and learn from others who are also doing this. I share things that will inspire and support people to live meaningfully. Specifically I share my workshops, quotes, pictures and related information through social media.
