Hello, my name is Regina Williams and I am an Account Manager for Williams Web Design. I would like to give a brief presentation on Social Media: A Guide To Your Success. I will give you insight on how Social Media can help your business become a success.
Social Media….I’m sure you have heard of it. But do you really know how effective it is…do you really know how powerful it is when it comes to your business? Today I will give you a brief overview of exactly what it is, how it all began, how it will help your business, what currently is available to you, and a guide to getting started.
Social Media, what is it? According to Wikipedia, Social Media refers to the interaction between people who come together to create, share, and exchange ideas over a virtual community or network. It differs from the traditional means of networking in that you can reach out to many more people, and do it in a very effective, fun way.Social Media can be explained better by saying that it’s a way of reaching out to others either to give or receive information. By way of sharing pictures or videos, getting news, or sharing videos. Bookmarking sites are also available. Some examples of Social Media sites are Facebook, Twitter, Simpy, Digg, and Youtube
Social Media began back in the 1970s. The emergence of email and the blackboard were used as a way to send correspondence to an individual. This method proved to be slow as you would have to wait until the recipient logged on to get a reply. But as time moved on and new technologies emerged, more efficient means of communication was created. In 1997, AOL created a way to chat with one another and get real-time replies. In 1998, Google opens a major search engine where you can go and obtain any information on just about any topic. By 2000, many dot.com sites were available, thus creating an avenue to a world of information. Since 2004 there has been many sites created to connect many people to different areas of the world.
Social Media can do so many things for you and your business. If you want to get your name out to the public, it can do it for you. Social Media provides many avenues to publicize your business. As far as advertising costs, you won’t see that expense being a major one. Most Social Media sites are free to use. Once customers have been established, communication with them is easily sought through emails, inboxes and contact sections.
To begin in any social media site, simply go to the website and set up a profile. Include all of your pertinent information related to your business and begin to reap the benefits. If you have a company website, include the icon for the site you are using and encourage users to visit it. Wherever you advertise, include your profile/company name to get traffic to your site.
Social Media provides great assets for your business. You will gain more exposure to your business by using any Social Media avenue. Many people today use social media sites so there is a great chance of being exposed. Most search engines rankings are on the rise due social media sites, meaning your company will get great publicity. Expenses related to marketing drops due to the overwhelming use of Social Media sites. I hope I have given you enough information regarding social media sites for your to allow our company to get your up and going to day.
